[Bug 1456452] Re: Works with stylus but not finger: HP Elitebook 2740P Tablet PC
Fix was to install this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~onboard/+archive/ubuntu/stable As suggested from this bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/onboard/+bug/1304573 However, that bug report suggests multitouch should work. Specifically, that you should be able to hold the shift key while typing. This does not work. Run command 'sh hplip-3.15.4.run' in terminal to install. Delete the existing print queue for this printer in Ubuntu 15.04 server and reconfigure the print queue using command 'hp-setup -i ' and run command 'hp-testpage -i' in terminal at server side and let us know if you are able to print the testpage from server. [Bug 1229241] Re: net connection should refresh scopes
The attached fix for unity8 looks good and will most likely do what it's supposed to do, but I wonder if this is good strategy. What this change effectively means is: if scope is currently active (visible) while network becomes available, it will be refreshed; if it's not visible (but favorited), it will be marked dirty and refreshed when user swipes/selects it. To my understanding this will affect not only the after-boot scenario, but normal usage as well. What if network is flaky and goes offline/online a lot? We'll end up re-querying scopes more often than necessary, disregarding TTL of the results (currently visible results may still be valid, but forcefully refreshed just because network gets available). Perhaps the shell should cooperate more closely with shell plugin with this, rather than forcing refresh? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1229241 Title: net connection should refresh scopes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libunity/+bug/1229241/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I found the following chain of calls: 1. hub_port_reset() 2. hub_port_wait_reset() 3. hub_port_status() returns port status 0x02C0 (USB_SS_PORT_LS_SS_INACTIVE) 4. hub_port_warm_reset_required() returns TRUE due to link_state == USB_SS_PORT_LS_SS_INACTIVE 5. hub_port_wait_reset() returns -ENOTCONN due to the TRUE result from hub_port_warm_reset_required() 6. hub_port_finish_reset(... *status = -ENOTCONN) 7. usb_set_device_state(udev, USB_STATE_NOTATTACHED) And that's the problem: USB device state NOTATTACHED is a dead end as usb_set_device_state() does not seem to allow ever leaving that state: if (udev-state == USB_STATE_NOTATTACHED) { ; /* do nothing */ } That seems bogus to me. A warm reset sounds like it is supposed to be recoverable, but a port which ever runs into this state cannot recover since the NOTATTACHED software state is a deathtrap. I tried altering the end of hub_port_finish_reset() to: if (udev) usb_set_device_state(udev, *status ? USB_STATE_ATTACHED // FIX: was USB_STATE_NOTATTACHED : USB_STATE_DEFAULT); and that fixes the problem. The port is warm reset, the USB device is set to a working state and the boot continues without problems. However: 1. I'm not sure if this is the right place to fix the problem. Maybe there are scenarios in which the dead end is needed. Then it would be a better solution to change the status in a place where it is known that a warm reset will be tried... 2. I cannot find any substantial difference in drivers/usb/core/hub.c between kernel sources 3.17.8 and 3.18-rc1 which would explain why this problem occurs so frequently with the latter, but not with the former. So this may not be the root cause of my problem, but at least it's a way to fix it, and from what I can tell, this is erroneous behavior which requires fixing anyway. Now, how to get this issue up with the experts on this code to discuss if my findings are right and how to best fix it...? ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455376 Title: REGRESSION after upgrade from 14.10 to 15.04: USB3 boot device lost during system boot: xhci_hcd :04:00.0: Error while assigning device slot ID / device not accepting address 2, error -22 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1455376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1454698] Re: Unlocking the screen after sleep logs user off and back on
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 1456479] Re: PPA info with trailing quote in /etc/apt/sources.list
Hi David, I'm looking more into this issue. I will check carefully versus 14.04.2 LTS. The PPA of mkusb has the same code for all versions (it contains only bash scripts and configuration files) and the versions 'have always been' simply copied with the copying tool of Launchpad. There is no manual editing, that could have added the quote character. One possibility is that the copying process of Launchpad could have gone wrong (maybe a temporary error). How is the data from the command sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/unstable transferred to the file /etc/apt/sources.list ? The answer to that question might help solve this problem. When I try again right now, it seems not to work at all with add-apt- repository and apt-get update. Synaptic did the work but the trailing quote was added. [Bug 1443735] [NEW] recordfail false positive causes headless servers to hang on boot by default
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb): Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot a Vivid system installed from the server installer (not a cloud image). 2. Kill the power (or VM) while the kernel is initialising but before it has started init. 3. Power up the system (or start the VM) again. Expected behaviour: the system should boot without user intervention. Actual behaviour: the system hangs on the grub prompt. This was previously raised in bug 669481 but the solution applied then was just to add the GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT setting defaulted to -1. This allowed users to work around the problem by tuning GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT. I'm filing this bug separately as there is nothing wrong with the previous fix, but it didn't fix the problem for users by default. This bug is about fixing the default so that users don't have to discover and work around the issue. An IRC discussion (http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2015/02/27/%23ubuntu- devel.html#t13:54) concluded that everyone involved in the discussion is happy to change the timeout from infinity to 30s. Colin asked for a fix in Debian, so I'll send a patch there and add a bug link. I'm also filing the bug here in order to track the fix in both Debian and Ubuntu. Importance: High because of the impact to users on headless servers - from their perspective, this causes a system to fail to boot after an appropriately timed double power cut. I'm prompted to do this today because it just happened to me on my server, so perhaps it's more likely than I originally thought. ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Affects: grub2 (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Fix Released -- recordfail false positive causes headless servers to hang on boot by default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443735 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to the bug report. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

When this happens, this is what I see on the server side (IP/host info withheld): May 13 08:23:28 mail postfix/smtpd[14289]: connect from unknown[IPv6:address] May 13 08:23:28 mail postfix/smtpd[14289]: B218622E50: client=unknown[IPv6:address] May 13 08:23:28 mail postfix/smtpd[14289]: B218622E50: client=unknown[IPv6:address] May 13 08:23:28 mail postfix/cleanup[13287]: B218622E50: message-id=1431498208.15596.31.camel@withheld May 13 08:23:28 mail postfix/smtpd[14289]: lost connection after DATA (64324 bytes) from unknown[IPv6:address] May 13 08:23:28 mail postfix/smtpd[14289]: disconnect from unknown[IPv6:address] May 15 13:14:38 mail postfix/smtpd[3632]: connect from unknown[IPv6:address] May 15 13:14:38 mail postfix/smtpd[3632]: 21E8522E44: client=unknown[IPv6:address] May 15 13:14:38 mail postfix/smtpd[3632]: 21E8522E44: client=unknown[IPv6:address] May 15 13:14:38 mail postfix/cleanup[2894]: 21E8522E44: message-id=1431688478.15596.89.camel@withheld May 15 13:14:38 mail postfix/smtpd[3632]: lost connection after DATA (64320 bytes) from unknown[IPv6:address] May 15 13:14:38 mail postfix/smtpd[3632]: disconnect from unknown[IPv6:address] Now, why the connection is lost might be an interesting thing to find out in and by itself, but the real concern I have is the fact the Evolution doesn't detect this error. It seems to pretend everything is ok and copies the email to the Sent folder without indicating something went wrong. Would it be unreasonable of me to expect Evolution to wait for a 250 first? [Bug 1456479] Re: PPA info with trailing quote in /etc/apt/sources.list
Thanks for the report! Unfortunately reporting it against apt is incorrect as apt itself contains no program which automatically adds PPAs or similar such. It just takes the sources.list content and interprets it. So it was either you adding this PPA by hand in which case its a user error (copypaste maybe?) OR it was a tool (potentially in the apt-* namespace, but not maintained by the apt team) which has this bug. Its a bit unlikely perhaps, but as far as apt is concerned main could be a valid component (also, because it is hardly defined which characters could be) and the error messages it prints tell you that it tried to get data for the main component as it was configured to do, but wasn't able to. ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456479 Title: PPA info with trailing quote in /etc/apt/sources.list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1456479/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1456167] Re: InnoDB crashes with assertion failure in file fut0lst.ic line 83 (addr.page == FIL_NULL || addr.boffset = FIL_PAGE_DATA)
Thanks Morgan. Marking as Incomplete for now, as local corruption unrelated to a MySQL bug sounds like an equally valid possibility. If new information is found that suggests that this is a bug, then this bug can be changed back to New. Otherwise we can assume it was local corruption. ** Changed in: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456167 Title: InnoDB crashes with assertion failure in file fut0lst.ic line 83 (addr.page == FIL_NULL || addr.boffset = FIL_PAGE_DATA) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/1456167/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
