Sorry for late reply. After disabling NV card in BIOS. Ubutnu is able to boot.
My current solution is to nomodeset while booting on live USB. After
installing, boot into recovery mode, than blacklist nouveau.(and install Nvidia
offical driver)

[Bug 1460301] [NEW] Incomming call - no info which SIM card was called (dual SIM)

2015-05-30 Thread Chris
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 (r22)

(Don't know how to find a package version :/, but I checked for updates
on 29-05-2015 and all apps are up to date)

I have two SIM cards inserted into BQ Aquaris 4.5

On incoming call I expect to see information if SIM1 or SIM2 was dialled by
caller alongside caller ID.
I see only caller ID.

It may be useful if one of the SIM cards is in roaming, or when one of
the SIMs is a company number while other is a private number.

[Bug 1459046] Re: nova-* services do not start if rsyslog is not yet started

2015-05-30 Thread Liang Chen
Hi Martin,

Yeah. This an SRU fix for trusty. It doesn't affect later releases, as newer
releases use openstack juno/kilo which doesn't have this problem.
That reminded me to try a backport instead of working on a upstart job patch.
And it's indeed simpler and smaller. Thanks!

Thanks,
Liang

[Bug 1406802] Re: Vivid Unity Wallpaper horizontally hashed

2015-05-30 Thread jerrylamos
I run standard Ubuntu and am not familiar with MATE. A couple years ago
I may have tried it briefly in another Linux distro. I forget. Months
ago I tried Lubuntu which as I remember didn't have the "hashing"
problem. I think it uses LXDE. There's Kubuntu, Gnome, ... however many
variations of Ubuntu.I've tried NEXT a couple of times but it didn't
do much so I don't know if it has the problem. Now there's "Snappy" I'
ve no clue what desktop it has or just command line?.

I use "out of the box" Ubuntu U+1 looking for bugs that would be
applicable to the most (?) users. "Unity" has had lots of
bugsincluding this one..

How is MATE installed? Can I switch between Mate and Unity desktops or
do I do an install?

How is MATE removed after testing it? example re-installing standard
Ubuntu or just starting Unity?

Thanks.

BTW, my impression this bug is closely tied to xserver or to how Ubuntu
Unity is using xserver. I have other pc's with different hardware and
different video chips that don't exhibit this problem. This Lenovo M58p
has an Intel 64 bit dual processor 3 GHz and is the fastest of my pc's.
All is not great with 15.10 on the other pc's example an Intel 32 bit 3
GHz Compaq which has annoyingly slow video with 15.05 and 15.10 but
14.04 video is quite usable. I've forgotten which video benchmarks
might be more believable to the Ubuntu Devs?

[Bug 1460297] [NEW] package udev 204-5ubuntu20.11 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script was killed by signal (Illegal instruction), core dumped

2015-05-30 Thread Kenneth J. Weber
Public bug reported:

When asked, did I want to install upgrade, I selected "Yes" and was
subsequently confronted by a frozen computer. After shutting down the
system and restarting, I found it ended up with a blank screen and a
frozen keyboard. So, the only thing to do was to shut down by holding
the power button for six seconds. Upon restarting, I was confronted
with multiple warnings of various programs failing to start or
malfunctioning, and suggesting that reports be filed.

[Bug 1455002] Re: Thinkpad x200t backlight settings

2015-05-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
EricDHH, just to advise, I also had problems with updating a Lenovo
laptop BIOS. In that instance, with different laptop 3.17 BIOS, I
couldn't update via the .exe, I could only update to the 3.18 via
ThinkVantage System Update, and the CD environment allowed me to fully
update to the latest version 3.19. Hence, did you try all three methods?

[Bug 1459149] Re: keyboard and mouse not responding at login

2015-05-30 Thread Joris Bierkens
By installing kernels using .deb packages I have learned that the issue
is resolved between kernel 3.13.2 and 3.13.3. I will now try to reverse
bisect the commits in between these kernel version (which I have never
done before).

As a side note, I could not test the issue in kernel 3.13.1; I got
completely different behaviour: after a low-res xubuntu splash screen,
the screen became garbled, after which it became completely green. The
system hung completely (I needed to hold the power button to switch it
off). This issue could be reproduced. I don't know if it is important.

[Bug 1456184] Re: NVidia VGA freeze with new kernels

2015-05-30 Thread Marco Ciampa
Perhaps there is a misunderstand here: the PC was already updated to the
last available BIOS version. If there is a but in the BIOS, than that
bug is not going away. BTW I have a friend of mine with a laptop with
AMD CPU and more or less the same NVidia card that had similar problems
resolved in the same manner: installing the 12.04 generic kernel.

When (if I can) put my hands on that laptop I'll send a complete but
report for that too.

[Bug 1460290] [NEW] Build click package doesn't honor project's qmake and make args

2015-05-30 Thread Michael Zanetti
Public bug reported:

Some projects supporting multiple platforms require CONFIG+=ubuntu (or
other qmake options) to build the ubuntu integration. With the "new"
multiarch enabled click package wizard, it doesn't seem to pick up
neither the qmake nor the make arguments from the project configuration
and thus fails to build a click package. Besides the qmake args, it
should also honor make args, for example to speed up compilation with
-jN.

[Bug 1459685] Re: please merge curl from debian

2015-05-30 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi Martin, after some research I found they were added for bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmlrpc-c/+bug/831496

there were both .install and .links files, after a while they became
symlinks, and after they disappeared between 7.29 and 7.30, so far
before trusty.

Since we are in the early development, I proposed to sed them out and
see if any regression (unlikely) is spotted.

@mathieu, what is your opinion on this matter? do we really need the two
empty packages?

[Bug 1451689] Re: 0cf3:3004 Bluetooth driver is not being loaded

2015-05-30 Thread Sumit Khanna
I couldn't find this on the Linux kernel-bluetooth mailing list. I went
ahead and subscribed and submitted it (accidentally sent it twice). Here
is a link to the thread:

http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg62106.html

No one has responded. I'd like to work on this problem, but I haven't
done any kernel debugging and am not sure where to being. I've looked
through `drivers/bluetooth/ath3k.c` and it seems like my device's USB ID
is listed in there under the correct device.

Where do I go from here?

[Bug 1460265] Re: Suspend to RAM fails: (0 tasks refusing to freeze, wq_busy=1)

2015-05-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
al, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could
you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top
line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for
testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1284308] Re: Can't copy files from a bluetooth device: Another operation in progress

2015-05-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
wodny, it's best to submit any patches to upstream directly so they may
review for incorporation into GNOME. Ubuntu typically won't pull in out-
of-tree patches unless it's an emergency.

[Bug 1356892] Re: the buttons "minimize, maximize, close" in caja desappear

2015-05-30 Thread Stephen Cook
I can confirm this happens on Ubuntu Mate 14.04.2 32 bit with Compiz
enabled. I am using an ASUS board and intel i3 quad core and an AMD
Radeon R7 200 GPU. I am using Ambiant Mate theme with Faenza Dark icon
set. But, I can also confirm this happens irrespective of theme used.

This problem seems to occur irrespective of whether a window is in focus
or not. Or, at least, once I have noticed it, it doesn't matter if the
window is the active one or not. The minimize, maximize and close
buttons are gone and stay gone. That is to say, they are not merely
greyed out. They have disappeared. The only fix I have found for it is
to go to mate tweak, change from Compiz to Marco, then immediately back
to Compiz and the buttons re-appear.

However, the problem reoccurs within around 15 to 20 minute on average.

[Bug 1460284] [NEW] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 22s! [kworker/u16:5:142]

2015-05-30 Thread lvm
Public bug reported:

Kernel has been upgraded from 3.13.0-49 to 3.13.0-53, several minutes
after the first reboot with the new kernel I noticed high wio while
syslog was filling with messages listed below. When I tried to reboot
(shutdown -r) it posted reboot messages to all console windows and then
locked up - no reaction to keyboard, no ping response, had to powercycle
it. After the reboot back to 3.13.0-49 system works fine, although
filesystems were dirty. Didn't try it the second time - this system is
too important for experiments. It has been running on the same hardware
for a couple of years with no prior issues.

[Bug 1389849] Re: sudo service lxc-net restart does not reload dnsmasq when there is a container running

2015-05-30 Thread JoaoCC
Hi,
In the "/etc/init/lxc-net.conf" file, in the "post-stop script", shouldn't the
bridge be stopped before removing it?

In the "pre-start" section you have:
ifconfig ${LXC_BRIDGE} down || true
brctl delbr ${LXC_BRIDGE} || true

but in the "post-stop" you only have
brctl delbr ${LXC_BRIDGE}

I noticed this because an error message is logged in one of the specific logs.
Thx

[Bug 606365] Re: unable to import config with inlined ca, cert, key or tls-auth

2015-05-30 Thread seebk
I have created a small python script to extract the embedded
certificates and to rewrite the ovpn config to use separate key and cert
files.

https://gist.github.com/seebk/bb94a7fd70d4cc454aaa

Maybe it helps to simplify the error prone manual setup until this bug
is fixed.

Hi,

Thanks for the report and the following analysis of the problem.

Should you run into future crash issues with lintian, please consider
filing the bug against lintian upstream.

I have applied a few patches upstream for this issue:
 * [f89954f] - Fixes the crash
 * [4d6bb4e] - Adds a warning for not having intermediate directories

These are scheduled for inclusion in lintian 2.5.32.

 * I am not maintaining the Ubuntu package, so I /cannot/ comment on
whether this will be fixed in / backported to your current Ubuntu
   release.

This indeed avoided the crash. However, it would leave the path
structure disconnected causing several checks to report incorrect
results (in particular in Lintian/2.5.28).

Therefore I have solved this differently by constructing all missing
intermediate directories (see [f89954f]), which also trivially allowed
for us to discover/report the missing intermediate directories.

Once again, thanks for the report and the following analysis.

Thanks,
~Niels

do you mean that you are using spdif output since all analog output jacks are
unplugged ?

Default sink name: alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.iec958-stereo
Default source name: alsa_input.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo

but you have turn on IEC958 Default PCM which driver copy audio to both analog
and digital
and digital spdif won't work

[Bug 1460254] Re: installation crash

2015-05-30 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1437492] Re: boot stalls on USB detection errors

2015-05-30 Thread Ioannis Vranos
The issue still exists in some form.

Usually if one or more USB error messages appear, and you wait, they
disappear now, and the boot proceeds ok.

Sometimes however, like if you press a keyboard button before they
disappear, the issue remains.
