[Bug 1540407] Re: multipathd drops paths of a temporarily lost device

2016-02-25 Thread Ryan Harper
Hi Thorsten,

Thanks for the update. I'll attempt to find out if I can force a detach
on the host-side to recreate the issue on x86 while I'm waiting for a Z
system with FCP devices.

Could you attempt to use the Debian package from Sid on top of the
Ubuntu system? This will help rule out kernel related issues vs.
userspace package bugs.

You can download from here

http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/m/multipath-tools/multipath-
tools_0.5.0+git1.656f8865-4_s390x.deb

And then force install with

sudo dpkg --force all --install multipath-
tools_0.5.0+git1.656f8865-4_s390x.deb

If this is successful, then I can prepare a package with some updated
fixes from upstream; there are a number of changes to path related
discovery in upstream multipath that aren't yet included in the Ubuntu
version.

[Bug 1549653] Re: Disks utility doesn't remove previous record in /etc/fstab

2016-02-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1548887] Re: [MIR] ubuntu-snappy

2016-02-25 Thread Michael Terry
Two of these Go packages aren't using the proper naming conventions.
Which means that we won't be in sync when Debian packages them. (I know
a lot of Debian packages don't use the convention, but I believe most of
those are older packages before it got solidified. I believe newer
packages use the newer convention.)

http://pkg-go.alioth.debian.org/packaging.html

Specifically, golang-goconfigparser-dev should be
golang-github-mvo5-goconfigparser-dev.
And golang-uboot-go-dev should be golang-github-mvo5-uboot-go-dev.
And the same for their source names.

[Bug 1268770] Re: Error loading shared library for smart card authentication to server

2016-02-25 Thread Derek
So. I asked around. If anyone here is trying to use Linux in the corporate
world and encountering what I encountered, here's the rundown.
Ubuntu removed this because Debian removed it.
Debian's page is here:
https://packages.qa.debian.org/v/vmware-view-open-client.html

It was apparently pulled in 2014 as unmaintained upstream, which is why
it eventually got yanked from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS I guess.

Other distros *do* still build it (after all, it is open source), and
there are a number of "upstreams" on github, although I guess not
"official" forks thus not qualifying to resurrect the package.
Unfortunately Ubuntu and Redhat are really the only officially permitted
options here, and probably in other corporations.

So. That basically means that if you are in a similar situation you are going
to have to:
* hope the old package keeps working until maybe Linux gets a bit more
attention from VMWare, or that Debian/Ubuntu choose one of these other repos as
the "official" one.
* do your own build
* switch to i386 exclusively where you can use the vmware-view i386
closed-source client

The OpenSC issue from this bug will still be a problem with either of
those though, so hopefully Ubuntu eventually updates their 14.04 LTS
package against the upstream fixes, or applies the patch from this bug.

Re: [Bug 1498129] Re: Asus Xonar U7 S/PDIF output not recognized by pulseaudio

2016-02-25 Thread g0ukb
Raymond - thanks - not sure how to define a pulseaudio.conf file, how to
name it, where it is referenced. Will have to go do some research.

Do you have any idea why the fix to USB-Audio.conf is not working? The card
name from aplay-l is definitely "Xonar U7 Echelon Ed." yet simply adding
"Xonar U7 Echelon Ed." 1 to the USB-Audio.pcm.iec958_device section of
USB-Audio.conf does not work. Is there a problem because the card name ends
in a '.'?

As you say the problem is now very well defined - I just need alsa to
translate iec958:x to hw:x,1 but I CANNOT make alsa do this.

I will go and investigate pulseaudio but it would be good to work out an
alsa fix.

Thanks for your help
Brian

Hi Ryan,

on the most recent repro I already had version: 0.5.0-7ubuntu14 - same symptom.
With
# echo "offline" > /sys/class/block/sdb/device/state
I could not reproduce this symptom on z Systems.

Approved repro is as follows:
z Systems LPAR: chchp -c 0 ;sleep 30;chchp -c 1
z Systems z/VM guest: vmcp det ;sleep 30;vmcp att "*"

[Bug 990744] Re: Ubuntu installer says: The creation of swap space in partition failed

2016-02-25 Thread M R
"I'm talking for myself, I don't know how to use this fix."

He gave two options. One was a workaround. The other, a fix was
intended to be patched into the Ubiquity installer. But then he moved
the bug to partman-basicfilesystems.

Unless ubiquity is calling on partman to do the format, I'm left
scratching my head as to why it was moved...

[Bug 1547680] Re: bonded interfaces in bridge do not have LRO turned off

2016-02-25 Thread Dan Streetman
This can be reproduced on any system with a nic that supports lro. For
example:

$ sudo ethtool -k eth5 | grep large-receive-offload
large-receive-offload: on

$ sudo modprobe bonding
$ sudo ifenslave bond0 eth5
$ sudo brctl addbr br0
$ sudo brctl addif br0 bond0

without the patch, lro will still be on:

$ sudo ethtool -k eth5 | grep large-receive-offload
large-receive-offload: on

with the patch, lro will automatically get disabled when the bond is
added to the bridge:

$ sudo ethtool -k eth5 | grep large-receive-offload
large-receive-offload: off

[Bug 1549807] Re: [MIR] ubuntu-core-launcher

2016-02-25 Thread Michael Terry
- Needs a team bug subscriber.
- Tests aren't being run. Looks like either the toplevel Makefile needs to be
fixed or debian/rules should run "make -C tests test" for override_dh_auto_test.

Otherwise the code and packaging seem fine. And it's got a very active
maintainer.

This would normally need a security pass, but Jamie is heavily involved
already, so I'll skip that.

Re: [Bug 1549310] Re: Removing or causing lubuntu-desktop to be removed marks packages for autoremove

2016-02-25 Thread Doug McMahon
lubuntu-core is another meta-package so it's removal isn't harmful per-
se. However the removal of meta-packages should not cause the marking
for autoremove of that meta-package's deps. Check what happens in Ubuntu
if ubuntu-desktop is removed or caused to be removed, ie. nothing else
is removed which is the proper behavior

Re: [Bug 1542934] Re: hdmi not working

2016-02-25 Thread dusoft
I can not as it says:
"It appears you are currently running a mainline kernel. It would be
better to report this bug upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/ so
that the upstream kernel developers are aware of the issue. If you'd
still like to file a bug against the Ubuntu kernel, please boot with an
official Ubuntu kernel and re-file."

So I am going to file it there as Ubuntu does not allow me to override
and file the bug report.

[Bug 1539446] Re: Today scope hangs-on after OTA9 update

2016-02-25 Thread Kyle Nitzsche
Summary: we don't know for sure whether the unity shell crash due to
duplicated results from child scopes is the cause but it seems like the
most likely one at this point.

I have not seen this bug in released code myself.

On ubuntu-phone list, a user reports [1] that unfavoriting the Messages
scope (whose current released version is 1.6 although I do not know for
sure what version the user has) fixes the Today scope issue. However, I
am using Messages scope 1.6 and I do not see the issue. If it is the
duplicate result issue, then it may have nothing to do with Messages,
that is, unfavoriting the Messages scope could have coincided with some
other scope not producing dup results.

[Bug 1549830] [NEW] Apps that import Ubuntu.Components 1.2 or older use the 1.3 palette

2016-02-25 Thread Tim Peeters
Public bug reported:

For example:

import QtQuick 2.4
import Ubuntu.Components 1.2

MainView {
width: units.gu(48)
height: units.gu(60)

Page {
title: "Hello, I am blue." // should be darkGrey
Label {
anchors.centerIn: parent
text: "bla"
color: Theme.palette.normal.negative // this color does not exist
in 1.2 palette
}
}
}

The old header label uses the selected.backgroundText color from the
palette. This is darkGrey in the old (1.2) palette and blue in the new
(1.3) palette. Also, I can refer to Theme.palette.normal.negative, which
is a color that was not defined in the 1.2 palette.

Several apps that use the old header and import Ubuntu.Components 1.2 or
older have blue text in the header because of this bug. For example:
clock app.

2016-02-25 Thread Raymond
You need to fix usb-audio.conf

speaker-test -c2 -t wav -D iec958:CARD=ed

works as

speaker-test -c2 -t wav -D hw:CARD=ed,1

[Bug 1549126] Re: i bought the ubuntu install disc and it crashed before i log in

2016-02-25 Thread Phillip Susi
Your cd appears to be corrupt. You can check it using the "check disc"
option from the boot menu. You will need to download and burn a new
disc.

Hi, can you check if you have any telephony-service-indicator crash file

Also, check if you get any suspicious message in $HOME/.cache/upstart
/telephony-service-indicator.log by the time you receive those sms's.

Thank you.

[Bug 1548157] Re: Remove appstream-data from Ubuntu (xenial)

2016-02-25 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Good question... Depends on whether we want to reintroduce the package
later, or if some 3rd-parties want to provide a package with that name
(likely not the case, so probably having appstream conflict with
appstream-data makes sense).

Thanks for the information. I've copied your bits of into to the
upstream bug: https://mariadb.atlassian.net/browse/MDEV-9329

All builds on Debian are OK, so the problem is somehow related to the
Launchpad environment. Maybe the -fPIE option is the difference?

I have test builds at
https://launchpad.net/~mysql-ubuntu/+archive/ubuntu/mariadb-10.0/+builds?build_text=&build_state=all
but those don't include s390x, as I don't have permissions to enable
that arch for the repository. Can you do it?

[Bug 1547208] Re: package libvirt-bin=1.3.1-1ubuntu1 fails to install due to new virtlockd initd script

2016-02-25 Thread Mikhail S Medvedev
Stefan - the init.d script you provided fixes the package install on
ppc64el Xenial! See full apt install log attached. Excerpt:

  Adding group `libvirtd' (GID 119) ...
  Done.
   * Starting libvirt logging daemon virtlogd [ OK ]
   * Starting libvirt locking daemon virtlockd [ OK ]
  libvirt-bin start/running, process 9713
  Setting up libvirt-bin dnsmasq configuration.

Thank you for working on this and for timely response! A new release
with the fix would be greatly appreciated :)

This bug brought up the fact that there are differences between package
install code paths for x86 and ppc64. Should that be a concern at this
stage before 16.04 is out? We could investigate this further.

[Bug 1508192] Re: Mousepad search highlights hard to see

2016-02-25 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
The bug is a combination of two issues:
1) A bug in Mousepad, which makes Mousepad not respect the set "search-match"
style; when you highlight all search matches, the background for the highlights
is always light yellow
2) An accessibility issue in the color scheme (shipped in xubuntu-artwork)
which makes the current search match not distinguishable enough. This can be
fixed by changing the generic selection color.

Thus, targetting xubuntu-artwork too (and assigning myself to that one).

** Description changed:

  In Xubuntu using Mousepad with the default Xubuntu Light colour scheme
  it is hard to differentiate between the searched term and the rest of
  the text.

  It should show up as

  from http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~xubuntu-art/xubuntu-

+  from x-dev irc channel "it currently uses "selection" (or at least
  seems to) instead of using "search-match" "
