[Bug 1585614] Re: libc on 2016-05-25 causes Apache not to restart, libm.so.6: symbol __strtold_nan, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

2016-05-25 Thread Andreas "Jimmy" Gredler
Steve: I think it does not happen with 14.04 because Apache is not restarted
during the upgrade process. Not sure why but that's what my tests with 14.04
showed me.
My tests with 12.04 are not 100% reproducible which makes me wonder if there is
a race condition in the postinst script of libapache2-mod-php5. Is there a
chance that Apache is reloaded before ldconfig is completely finished? That
would also explain why a simple restart of Apache solves the problem.
This is how I test:
# apt-get install libc6=2.15-0ubuntu10.13 libc-bin=2.15-0ubuntu10.13
libapache2-mod-php5=5.3.10-1ubuntu3 php5-common=5.3.10-1ubuntu3
# apt-get upgrade

In some cases Apache does not restart successfully, in some it does.

[Bug 1584522] Re: [UIFe] Don't show GNOME Books by default

2016-05-25 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

+ User Interface Freeze Exception Justification
+ =
+ To avoid getting bug reports and negative feedback from an app that does
almost nothing, I propose we hide GNOME Books for Ubuntu (GNOME) 16.04 LTS.
+ gnome-documents (and therefore gnome-books) is included by default in Ubuntu
GNOME but not other official Ubuntu flavors.
+
+ This change was made in Debian and Ubuntu yakkety-proposed 3.20.0-3 (not
+ built on yakkety because it's depwaiting on GTK 3.20 but that will be
+ cleared up one way or the other later in the yakkety release cycle).
+
+ $ seeded-in-ubuntu -b gnome-documents
+ gnome-documents is seeded in:
+ ubuntu-gnome: daily-live
+
+ Original Bug Description
+
I think the "Books" app included in GNOME is so incomplete that it
would be better to set NoDisplay=True for it.

What happens when you launch GNOME Books
  ===

Books opens, showing you the .cbr, .cbz, .djvu, .mobi, .epub files it
  finds in your tracker-searched folders.

The only file type it lets you actually view though is .cbr and .cbz
(which are usually used for comic books). For everything else, it
  displays an uphelpful error message:

  https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-
  documents/commit/?id=9c5cf3e98c15c17736bacda1aa2eea9458cbf4ce

Since the evince "Document Viewer" can also display .cbr and .cbz files
just fine, GNOME Books is redundant.

Worse, "Books" implies that it will let you read commonly used ebook
formats such as .epub or .mobi but it cannot.

GNOME Books development is slow. The initial Books feature is a year and
a half old and the "coming soon" message is a year old.

  https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-documents/log/?qt=grep=books

Once Books gets epub support, we should probably show the Books app
again. You can follow the progress of that effort at
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740971

[Bug 1453538] Re: Invisible mouse pointer

2016-05-25 Thread Jacob Page
I can confirm that it is probably not specifically a lightdm issue. I
have Lubuntu installed and am running lxdm, and it affects me. I have
found a consistent way to reproduce this; whenever my laptop comes back
from being suspended, the mouse cursor disappears; returning to the
login screen restores the mouse cursor, and it remains working in lxdm
after logging in again.

I am running 16.04.

[Bug 1585863] [NEW] WiFi malfunction after suspend & resume stress

2016-05-25 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu Yakkety Yak (development branch)

Release:16.10
Packages:
libnm-glib-vpn1:amd64 1.2.2-0ubuntu2

libnm-glib4:amd64 1.2.2-0ubuntu2
libnm-util2:amd64 1.2.2-0ubuntu2
libnm0:amd641.2.2-0ubuntu2
network-manager 1.2.2-0ubuntu2

Reproduce steps:
1. Install fwts by `sudo apt-get install fwts`.
2. Run the suspend & resume stress test.
sudo fwts s3 --s3-multiple=30 --s3-min-delay=10 --s3-max-delay=10
--s3-delay-delta=5

Expected result:
The WiFi still functioned.

Actual result:
The WiFi can not connect to any access point and we have to execute `sudo
wpa_cli scan` manually to make it work again.

P.S. Ubuntu 16.04 also has the same issue.

Just a thought... Xmir makes heavy use of callbacks to schedule frames
since Xorg is essentially single-threaded. Make sure buffer swapping
callbacks via the client API still work correctly in 0.23.0 with NBS.

[Bug 1585842] [NEW] Unity Icon will not launch MySQL Workbench after upgrade to Xenial

2016-05-25 Thread Andrew
Public bug reported:

1. Upgraded from 15.10 to 16.04

2. Click MySQL Workbench - has "slow fade" in and out for a few seconds.
MySQL WorkBench fails to launch.

3. Launch Terminal. Type mysql-workbench and enter to launch - this is
successful.

4. Now there are two icons in the Unity launcher bar.

# Fix
5. Unlock old icon from launcher and lock new icon to launcher (if it didn't
already lock automatically)

I think this is a bug and whatever has changed in
/usr/share/applications/mysql-workbench.desktop should be updated during
upgrade...

I've added a task for ubuntu-system-settings, because I just remembered
that it also displays app icons: in Storage, App Permissions, and
Notifications.

But note that I'm still waiting on design input. Copied from the
attached MP:

Paty when I asked about this branch: "Regarding the opinion on the
colour choice for the icons BG, I pinged Mattheiu, who is the icon
designer and he is gonna look into this and hopefully, comment on the
bug ticket. I'm sorry I'm not able to help more on this. I think
porcelain should work well, but I rather not make visual decisions... :

[Bug 1564192] Re: Lifecycle needs to track cross compilation

2016-05-25 Thread Leo Arias
Tested in an up-to-date xenial system:
- Enabled the proposed archive
- updated snapcraft to 2.9
- installed snapcraft-examples, copied the 96boards example to /tmp and cd
there.
- snapcraft login
- downloaded the firmware.tar from qualcomm.
- installed libssl-dev*.
- snapcraft --target-arch arm64
(it builds)
- snapcraft --target-arch armhf
It says that the pull step is out of date and it has to be cleaned. Ideally it
would clean automatically, but this shows the bug was solved anyway.

I'm marking the verification as done. Thanks Chris!

This is a new bug, thanks to kyrofa for helping me with this. Reported

[Bug 1585835] [NEW] g++ 5.3.1 crash with -std=c++0x

2016-05-25 Thread Ali Lakhia
Public bug reported:

I'm running on Ubuntu 16.04.

I'm building an empty main.cpp that only includes a single QT header
file. This causes my machine to consume lots of CPU and g++ eventually
crashes with this error:

g++: internal compiler error: Killed (program cc1plus)
Please submit a full bug report,
   with preprocessed source if appropriate.
   See for instructions.

I understand that you may not want to install QT. So, I'm also including
a preprocessed version of the CPP file. This file also repros the bug.
To repro, comment out one of the two g++ commands in run.sh and run it.
Thanks.

[Bug 1583624] Re: Mir cannot open a tty when started by lightdm

2016-05-25 Thread Robert Ancell
What appears to be happening is the greeter is not aware it is running
inside Unity System Compositor and so it trying to directly access the
video drivers. This fails because it is not running as root.

The cause seems to be LightDM is setting MIR_SOCKET to the name of the
U-S-C socket but this no longer works (possibly due to a change in bug
1290345).

The solution is to set MIR_SERVER_HOST_SOCKET instead, which is the
recommended/correct variable to tell a Mir server the socket of the
parent server (U-S-C in this case) to connect to.

[Bug 1563184] Re: Chromium-browser armhf crashes with "InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process"

2016-05-25 Thread Will Glynn
I encountered this on a Raspberry Pi 2 running a minimal Ubuntu 16.04.
The initial install was based on ubuntu-16.04-preinstalled-server-

Starting chromium-browser 50.0.2661.102-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 (armhf) with no
args, I get:
