[Bug 1635907] Re: Can't connect to Wifi network after suspend and resume

2016-10-22 Thread Steven Seed
Note, in the kern.log above which shows the last hour of usage, there is
a Call Trace for NetworkManager from the previous time I booted up after
I was no longer able to reconnect. It's probably worth looking at this
crash, however, in the most recent reboot, a restart of NetworkManager
did bring back the wifi network after a resume.

[Bug 1624765] Re: wifi broke after 16.04 upgrade

2016-10-22 Thread Parag Joshi
Hello Joseph,

Thanks for looking into the fix. Sorry for late reply as I was busy

So, how to move forward?

Here are the errors trying to install headers. (Installing image worked

[Bug 1635907] [NEW] Can't connect to Wifi network after suspend and resume

2016-10-22 Thread Steven Seed
Public bug reported:

Beginning in Ubuntu 16.04 and getting worse after upgrading to 16.10, I
can't connect to wifi networks after suspending and resuming my laptop.
I have a Sony Vaio SVP112A1CL with wireless network controller Intel
Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev 6b).

Typically I have to restart NetworkManager to recover from the problem
(sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager). This seemed to be a reliable
way to recover in 16.04, but it doesn't always work in 16.10 and may
require a reboot.

In some related bug reports they requested we run `sudo iw dev wlan0
scan` which resulted initially in an error but after running it a few
times returned successfully. I'll attach the output below. Even though
it did return, the wifi network still was unable to reconnect. I'll try
to grab the errors next time, but if I do it now, I'll lose
connectivity.

[Bug 1635906] [NEW] Low graphics mode in multi monitor setup after upgrade to 16.10

2016-10-22 Thread isotope
Public bug reported:

Hi,
After upgrading from 16.04 to 16.10 my multi monitor setup is unable to reach
login screen. Computer is Panasonic CF-52 on dock station with two external
monitors. The error says low graphics mode enabled.Used to work just fine in
previous distributions. the last error in the log file says: ScreenInit failed
for driver 0. I have Intel graphics.

Workaround found so far: boot laptop out of dock station, then dock it
and monitors are recognized no problem.

Troubleshooting done:
Reintsall Ubuntu from thumb drive - reinstall option: same results
Reinstall Ubuntu from thumb drive - clean install except for /home drive kept:
same results
Run X -configure: same results

Regards,
isotope

Re: [Bug 1609211] Re: [Alienware 17 R3, Creative CA0132, Headphone Out, Front] No sound at all

2016-10-22 Thread jetbent
I believe it has to do with the proprietary drivers that come with the
Alienware. It seems that Soundblaster does not have good linux
compatibility since it's not one of their priorities.

[Bug 1635903] [NEW] libicu55 has incorrect currency symbols for certain locales

2016-10-22 Thread Bene Tamás
Public bug reported:

libicu55 seems to be missing certain currency symbols in certain locales
on ubuntu 16.04.

I noticed while doing some unit tests.
The expected result was 5 000 Ft
The actual result turned out to be 5 000 HUF.
It seems to be specific to this build, as this passes without problems on the
CI server, and also worked fine on other distributions.

[Bug 1635845] Re: CRIU package missing on s390x

2016-10-22 Thread Stéphane Graber
I'm marking this bug invalid as there's nothing wrong with the
packaging.

CRIU needs specific support code for every architecture which matches
some kernel code that's also architecture specific. Until someone does
that work in both the Linux kernel and in CRIU upstream, there's nothing
we can do about s390x (or powerpc, arm64 and i386 which are similarly
unsupported).

Installed clivejo's PPA and everything works great. One system required
a restart to enable the new version, other system did not.?! I also
"sudo apt purged kdeconnect-plasma" to clean up the old version.

Verified:
- File transfer both directions
- SMS alerts and response (required disabling Google messenger and using
default mgs app)
- Media control including volume control
- Mouse input

I added Clive's PPA to both my 16.04 travel laptop and my 16.10 daily-
use laptop, and both had a clean upgrade, flawless pairing, and so far,
all working features.

I encountered no error messages during the upgrade or after a restart.

In both cases I fully upgraded before adding the PPA, and after, then
removed the PPA. The 16.04 laptop has the Kubuntu-Backports PPA enabled.

It does seem to be related to the switching profiles issues

[Bug 1635874] Re: deja-dup can not restore long path and filenames when restored on an encrypted home directory (backuped without home encrytion

2016-10-22 Thread Christian Herzberg
** Description changed:

I tried to restore my deja-dup backup after a new install migrating from
14.04.x to 16.04.01. I choose to make a fresh install because need to
encrypt data. Because of known bugs with encrypted swap I use the option

Because of a problem with a big files (bug report may follow) at the end

[Bug 1635891] [NEW] Random hangs after upgrade to 4.4.0-45, possibly cgroup related

2016-10-22 Thread Pehr Söderman
Public bug reported:

Apologize in advance is anything is missing from this bug report.

After upgrading to 4.4.0-45 we have started to experience random kernel
lockups. I have attached a sample from the syslog which I managed to
catch after one of these events. In other cases, nothing was written to
the syslog.

I notice that the cgroup system features here and there in the log, and
the hanging server uses cgroups and namespaces heavily, so I suspect it
is related. Sadly I don't know enough of the kernel to decipher the
error I got further than that.

Another unusual thing we do on this server, which may possibly be
related, is that we regularly clear the caches ("echo 3 >
/proc/sys/vm/drop_caches")

/Pehr

[Bug 1629060] Re: package plasma-workspace (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/xsessions/plasma.desktop', which is also in package lubuntu-extra-sessions 0.47

2016-10-22 Thread Brendan Perrine
Ok I think this is because the lubuntu-qt-desktop package pulls in sddm-
theme-breeze which in turn pulls in other kde dependency like plasma-
workspace which then cause a conflict with something in lubuntu-qt-
desktop. I don't know quite that much debian packaging but my instinct
wonders if lubuntu-qt-desktop added a conflicts with sddm-theme-breeze
if this error with installs would not happen. Or maybe change the wiki
to install a different sddm theme and sddm first.

[Bug 1635885] [NEW] ldap_autofs_search_base not domain based

2016-10-22 Thread Fati Iseni
Public bug reported:

Hi,

The search base parameter for autofs was intented to be set for each
domain separately, but it fails to do so. The value of the first
occurence of the parameter somehow is set for all domain sections.

I'm posting example configuration below. There are 2 domains, and in
this case the ldap_autofs_search_base parameter of the "skp.fids" domain
overrides the rest of the occurencies. If you just switch the precedence
in the domain defintions "fids, skp.fids", then the oposite is valid.

I have used subdomain in the example and it might be confusing, but
nevertheles, I did bunch of tests including completely different domains with
same results. In a contrary the sudo_search_base is working just fine.
I tried including scope as well, but it didnt help. I was tracking the ldap
request on the ldap server side when autofs service is restarted. It always
searches for one record, there is no additional request for the other domain
(I'm posting the logs too)

[Bug 1214500] Re: consistent failure with overlayfs and unix sockets

2016-10-22 Thread Ryan Lane
Looks like this is fixed at least in 16.04 via:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1607404

The change in the kernel was:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/30402c8949934fbaca07d9c20074d0d7a5a8385f

In the release notes in #1607404 the following are listed, which seem to
match the fix:

- vfs: add d_real_inode() helper
- af_unix: fix hard linked sockets on overlay

[Bug 1635758] Re: package kdeconnect-plasma (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/etc/xdg/autostart/kdeconnectd.desktop', which is also in package kdeconnect 1.0.1-0ubuntu1

2016-10-22 Thread Clive Johnston
Version 1.0 of kdeconnect required an updated version on Qt which was
only available in yakkety. We are working on backporting Qt to xenial,
but with the release of Yakkety we had higher priorities.

Version 1.0.1 removes that hard dependency on Qt and allows it to build
on the version of Qt in Xenial.

I have packaged version 1.0.1 in my PPA -
https://launchpad.net/~clivejo/+archive/ubuntu/kdeconnect-kde/

Could the original poster please try installing this package and let me
know how you get on.

packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1635861/+editstatus and add the

[Bug 1634802] Re: Could not insert module

2016-10-22 Thread Ricardo Almeida
This was working in 16.04, now since the upgrade to 16.10 it's broken.
Should be marked as Critical. If fix was already released by Debian team
should be easy and fast to get this corrected. Please, someone look into
this!

[Bug 1621719] Re: Black screen when resuming laptop from sleep

2016-10-22 Thread Chiron
Evidently the bug I filed is a duplicate of this (1634242), also with
T420s laptops. But I don't even have to put them machines to sleep or
even wait. All I have to do is lock the laptop and it crashes.

FYI, I don't get this with Ubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, or any other
derivatives. I tried a newer kernel with the same effect.

Hi, thanks for sub'ing me to the report. My PPA's are for testing
purposes only and should not be installed on a production system!! I'm
quite shocked that an article such as this is recommending installing it
from a PPA.

When the KF5 port of kdeconnect was released, to keep them separated,
the Kubuntu team decided to use new packaging called kdeconnect-plasma.
However, upstream (KDE) did not follow this suggestion and continued
releasing as kdeconnect. Debian then, only recently, used the old
packaging for the KF5 port and we (Kubuntu) want to follow this path.

The package does indeed need some replaces/breaks as you suggest. I was
working on it to try and get it into Yakkety, but due to other
commitments was not able to finish it. If you want to use the one in my
PPA you will need to remove kdeconnect-plasma manually and then install
it.

The packagename does appareantly not follow the given Ubuntu-naming-
scheme, thus it looks like these can coexist – if it doesn't contain
`replaces/breaks'.

I've subscribes the ppa-owner to this bug-report, before more like this
pops-up here.

Thinking the advice to use that ppa was given in OMG-Ubuntu [1] ?

Didn't even spell the name correctly. And neither test that semselfs?
