[Bug 1635907] [NEW] Can't connect to Wifi network after suspend and resume
Public bug reported: Beginning in Ubuntu 16.04 and getting worse after upgrading to 16.10, I can't connect to wifi networks after suspending and resuming my laptop. I have a Sony Vaio SVP112A1CL with wireless network controller Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev 6b). Typically I have to restart NetworkManager to recover from the problem (sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager). This seemed to be a reliable way to recover in 16.04, but it doesn't always work in 16.10 and may require a reboot. In some related bug reports they requested we run `sudo iw dev wlan0 scan` which resulted initially in an error but after running it a few times returned successfully. I'll attach the output below. Even though it did return, the wifi network still was unable to reconnect. I'll try to grab the errors next time, but if I do it now, I'll lose connectivity. $ apt-cache policy network-manager network-manager: Installed: 1.2.4-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.2.4-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.2.4-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ sudo iw dev wlan0 scan BSS d4:05:98:46:d9:40(on wlan0) -- associated TSF: 2690064842954 usec (31d, 03:14:24) freq: 2457 beacon interval: 100 TUs capability: ESS Privacy ShortPreamble ShortSlotTime APSD (0x0c31) signal: -68.00 dBm last seen: 3728 ms ago Information elements from Probe Response frame: SSID: stevens-2G Supported rates: 1.0* 2.0* 5.5* 11.0* 9.0 18.0 36.0 54.0 DS Parameter set: channel 10 ERP: Extended supported rates: 6.0 12.0 24.0 48.0 Country: US Environment: Indoor/Outdoor Channels [1 - 11] @ 36 dBm HT capabilities: Capabilities: 0x1ec HT20 SM Power Save disabled RX HT20 SGI RX HT40 SGI TX STBC RX STBC 1-stream Max AMSDU length: 3839 bytes No DSSS/CCK HT40 Maximum RX AMPDU length 65535 bytes (exponent: 0x003) Minimum RX AMPDU time spacing: 4 usec (0x05) HT RX MCS rate indexes supported: 0-23 HT TX MCS rate indexes are undefined HT operation: * primary channel: 10 * secondary channel offset: no secondary * STA channel width: 20 MHz * RIFS: 0 * HT protection: no * non-GF present: 1 * OBSS non-GF present: 0 * dual beacon: 0 * dual CTS protection: 0 * STBC beacon: 0 * L-SIG TXOP Prot: 0 * PCO active: 0 * PCO phase: 0 WPA: * Version: 1 * Group cipher: TKIP * Pairwise ciphers: TKIP CCMP * Authentication suites: PSK RSN: * Version: 1 * Group cipher: TKIP * Pairwise ciphers: TKIP CCMP * Authentication suites: PSK * Capabilities: 1-PTKSA-RC 1-GTKSA-RC (0x) WMM: * Parameter version 1 * u-APSD * BE: CW 15-1023, AIFSN 3 * BK: CW 15-1023, AIFSN 7 * VI: CW 7-15, AIFSN 2, TXOP 3008 usec * VO: CW 3-7, AIFSN 2, TXOP 1504 usec BSS Load: * station count: 5 * channel utilisation: 28/255 * available admission capacity: 31250 [*32us] Extended capabilities: HT Information Exchange Supported Country: US Environment: Indoor/Outdoor Channels [1 - 11] @ 16 dBm WPS: * Version: 1.0 * Wi-Fi Protected Setup State: 2 (Configured) * Response Type: 3 (AP) * UUID: bc329e00-1dd8-11b2-8601-d4059846d940 * Manufacturer: Celeno Communication, Inc. * Model: Celeno Wireless AP 2.4G * Model Number: CL1800 * Serial Number: 12345678 * Primary Device Type: 6-0050f204-1 * Device name: CELENOAP24G * Config methods: Label, Display, Keypad * RF Bands: 0x1 * Unknown TLV (0x1049, 6 bytes): 00 37 2a 00 01 20 BSS 52:f5:da:94:bf:f3(on wlan0) TSF: 155449958912 usec (1d, 19:10:49) freq: 2457 beacon interval: 100 TUs capability: ESS Privacy ShortSlotTime (0x0411) signal: -66.00 dBm last seen: 3736 ms ago Information elements from Probe Response frame: SSID: \x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00 Supported rates: 6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 DS

Re: [Bug 1609211] Re: [Alienware 17 R3, Creative CA0132, Headphone Out, Front] No sound at all
I believe it has to do with the proprietary drivers that come with the Alienware. It seems that Soundblaster does not have good linux compatibility since it's not one of their priorities. [Bug 1635891] [NEW] Random hangs after upgrade to 4.4.0-45, possibly cgroup related
Public bug reported: Apologize in advance is anything is missing from this bug report. After upgrading to 4.4.0-45 we have started to experience random kernel lockups. I have attached a sample from the syslog which I managed to catch after one of these events. In other cases, nothing was written to the syslog. I notice that the cgroup system features here and there in the log, and the hanging server uses cgroups and namespaces heavily, so I suspect it is related. Sadly I don't know enough of the kernel to decipher the error I got further than that. Another unusual thing we do on this server, which may possibly be related, is that we regularly clear the caches ("echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches") /Pehr ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: linux-image-4.4.0-45-generic 4.4.0-45.66 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-45.66-generic 4.4.21 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-45-generic x86_64 AlsaDevices: total 0 crw-rw 1 root audio 116, 1 Oct 22 22:52 seq crw-rw 1 root audio 116, 33 Oct 22 22:52 timer AplayDevices: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'aplay' ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 ArecordDevices: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'arecord' AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: Date: Sat Oct 22 23:37:59 2016 HibernationDevice: RESUME=/dev/mapper/template--16--vg-swap_1 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-04-22 (183 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.3) IwConfig: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'iwconfig' Lsusb: Error: command ['lsusb'] failed with exit code 1: MachineType: VMware, Inc. [Bug 1629060] Re: package plasma-workspace (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/xsessions/plasma.desktop', which is also in package lubuntu-extra-sessions 0.47
Ok I think this is because the lubuntu-qt-desktop package pulls in sddm- theme-breeze which in turn pulls in other kde dependency like plasma- workspace which then cause a conflict with something in lubuntu-qt- desktop. I don't know quite that much debian packaging but my instinct wonders if lubuntu-qt-desktop added a conflicts with sddm-theme-breeze if this error with installs would not happen. [Bug 1635885] [NEW] ldap_autofs_search_base not domain based
Public bug reported: Hi, The search base parameter for autofs was intented to be set for each domain separately, but it fails to do so. The value of the first occurence of the parameter somehow is set for all domain sections. I'm posting example configuration below. There are 2 domains, and in this case the ldap_autofs_search_base parameter of the "skp.fids" domain overrides the rest of the occurencies. If you just switch the precedence in the domain defintions "fids, skp.fids", then the oposite is valid. [Bug 1635758] Re: package kdeconnect-plasma (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/etc/xdg/autostart/kdeconnectd.desktop', which is also in package kdeconnect 1.0.1-0ubuntu1
Hi, thanks for sub'ing me to the report. My PPA's are for testing purposes only and should not be installed on a production system!! I'm quite shocked that an article such as this is recommending installing it from a PPA. When the KF5 port of kdeconnect was released, to keep them separated, the Kubuntu team decided to use new packaging called kdeconnect-plasma. However, upstream (KDE) did not follow this suggestion and continued releasing as kdeconnect. Debian then, only recently, used the old packaging for the KF5 port and we (Kubuntu) want to follow this path. The package does indeed need some replaces/breaks as you suggest. I was working on it to try and get it into Yakkety, but due to other commitments was not able to finish it. If you want to use the one in my PPA you will need to remove kdeconnect-plasma manually and then install it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635758 Title: package kdeconnect-plasma (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/etc/xdg/autostart/kdeconnectd.desktop', which is also in package kdeconnect 1.0.1-0ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdeconnect-plasma/+bug/1635758/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
