[Bug 1264795] Re: Alt+Tab Switcher randomly activates itself

2017-12-25 Thread teodoro musacchio
I've used Ubuntu 16.4 in variuos computer mainly hp g4 250 without any
problems. No I'm using the Aspire 5 A517-41G-7161 and I got the problem
. Its particularly annoying because the applications switcher pops up
randomly and lasts on the screen for a few seconds. The solutions here
proposed are too technical for me to access. I need a more easy
explanation if there is someone that have solved the problem. It's a
pity, after so many years where I've been using Ubuntu, I'm thinking to
migrate somewhere else.

been CC's v4.13 stable, so 9560 will be fully enabled soon in ubuntu
v4.13 kernel.

For this bug, we only prepare the firmwares in advance before the driver
is ready.

Please ignore my comment #26 where I mentioned it could able to use the
artful proposed fix. I'm facing issues in applying the fix. I need help
to apply artful proposed fix on my VM to make sure issue is not
recreatable. In my last comments update, I messed up in clearly
mentioned about the issue.

Here is what the observation:
1. I could able to recreate the reported issue after I added 34th disk with
boot dev option.
2. While I'm not able to apply the artful proposed fix, I need help in applying
the artful-proposed fix.

[Bug 1655425] Re: CEC on Raspberry Pi 3 not working

2017-12-25 Thread Balint Reczey
Ubuntu's generic libcec package is not compiled with RPi3 support due to
RPi3's libraries' license preventing that.

The https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi wiki page has a lot of
valuable information regarding using Ubuntu on RPi 2/3 and it lists
PPA's which may be able to provide a recompiled version of libcec with
RPi3 support.

[Bug 1715146] Re: Not Suspending When Lid is Closed Causing Heat Issue

2017-12-25 Thread Mario Limonciello
Well it's good to hear the Thunderbolt update did clear things up with
the initial issue. Just to probe a little more on the update process
though:

When you say thunderbolt enabled in setup can you be more specific which
Thunderbolt options you're referring to? That first error is confusing
to me because that means the controller enumerated but disappeared.

Regarding the need for force power, that's expected with certain fwupd
and kernel combinations if you have nothing plugged into the thunderbolt
controller. The peculiar thing however is that the device enumerated to
the extent that first error came up.

[Bug 1740059] [NEW] Kodi Sound is Distorted

2017-12-25 Thread Stephen Allen
Public bug reported:

Since the upgrade to 'Bionic Beaver', Kodi sound has been distorted. I
downgraded to Artful to check it's Kodi and sound is fine there. So this
time I did a clean install of Bionic (last time I upgraded to Bionic I
used the same home directory as I had for Artful and Debian distros
prior, so I wanted to rule out a corruption via config file). Still,
badly distorted audio in clean install. This is on metal btw, not
hypervisor.

Audio is fine in gnome-mpv, gnome-movie-player, and VLC.

[Bug 1715146] Re: Not Suspending When Lid is Closed Causing Heat Issue

2017-12-25 Thread wdoekes
No, because it won't install.

I tried "fwupdmgr install eac3961ba9bd466f6e34d9276c27d524395d7c3c-
NN1TN_NVM21.00.cab", but I got:

could not find thunderbolt device at
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1c.0/:01:00.0/:02:00.0/:03:00.0/domain0/0-0

So I rebooted with Thunderbolt enabled.

That gave me:

  Decompressing… [- ]
could not validate firmware: Error reading from file: Input/output error. See
https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/wiki/Thunderbolt:-Validation-failed-or-unknown-device
 for more information.

But a second call gave me the same error as before the reboot (i.e. as
before re-enabling Thunderbolt).

Enabling test fwupd remote through lvfs-testing.conf gave me the same
results after refresh+update, so I guess I typed the right commands.

Just after reboot, probably around the time of the first fwupdmgr call, I got
this in the dmesg. Could be related:

Also don't use pm-utils. It did a few over zealous actions.
It's been removed from Ubuntu installs now but you may still have it from an
upgrade. You should use systemctl to invoke the suspend.

Ubuntu Mate 17.10.

Running mypaint (1.2.0) gets you greeted with the "About Mypaint"

no way to avoid it or circumvent it to access the program (that I know
of at least), so it renders the program unusable.

[Bug 1740049] [NEW] guake shows gray window and hangs

2017-12-25 Thread Traumschule Riebau
Public bug reported:

Version: Guake Terminal 0.8.8
OS: Debian/Ubuntu
WM: Awesome

When working with tmux in guake I had this several times:

- the window is grey without cursor or reaction to mouse events
- F12 shows/hides it
- the tray menu works and it is possible to quit guake

This bug is not reproducable (triggerable) but happens from time to time
(several times a week/month).

Re: [Bug 1715146] Re: Not Suspending When Lid is Closed Causing Heat Issue

2017-12-25 Thread Mario Limonciello
There is an updated NVM for the 9360. It's posted to LVFS testing remote.
You can manually download it from here.

https://fwupd.org/lvfs/device/dfd51125-338f-56ff-b721-fa3bea8e534e

Can you install that and see if if helps at all perhaps?

[Bug 1464064] Re: Ubuntu apt repos are not available via HTTPS

2017-12-25 Thread Victoid
I can't believe HTTPS hasn't been switched on in the 2.5 years since
this bug was reported. It's a commonsense move that even Linus has made.
There are truly no arguments against it. It's farcical to report kernel
signatures, but then not provide either the package or the signature
over a secure transport. What's the point in signing it at all?
Kernel.org is distributing the releases over an HTTPS CDN with no
problems, and Ubuntu is way behind the times on this.

[Bug 1740046] [NEW] ubuntu installer crashes during installation from USB

2017-12-25 Thread Rob Teszka
Public bug reported:

Installing ubuntu 17.10 from live USB. The live desktop works fine,
installer runs, allows me to partition drives and set mount points,
connects to wifi, downloads programs, etc.

However, several minutes into the process, it stops and shows an error
message that it was unable to install GRUB on / so the system won't be
able to boot. Then it exits the installer.

Situation: I am installing onto a SSD + HDD combination. The SSD is to
mount / and hold the bootloader, while the HDD has an existing /home
partition so I'm -not- formatting it.

Possible clue: I started the USB installer in UEFI mode from my bios,
but near the beginning of installation I received a warning that I was
installing onto media with a legacy bios and that pushing on with UEFI
will prevent the old system from booting. I assumed that was ok, as I
was just going to format the old / partition on the HDD.

Attached are /var/log/partman and /var/log/syslog

Any ideas?

[Bug 1734856] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2017-12-25 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From kalsh...@in.ibm.com 2017-12-25 15:10 EDT---
I'm unable to get this fix applied to artful guest VM thought slof packages are
updates.
--
I could able to recreate the issue; Initially added upto 32 boot order disks
apart from primary disk(boot order 1), and not able to recreate it.

Applied artful proposed fixes and could able to boot the guest
successfully.

[Bug 1734856] Re: Can't boot VM with more than 16 disks (slof buffer issue)

2017-12-25 Thread Kalpana S Shetty
Artful validation:
---
I could able to recreate the issue;

Initially added upto 32 boot order disks apart from primary disk(boot
order 1), and not able to recreate it. However with one more disks added
with boot dev, could able to create the reported issue.

[Bug 1740045] [NEW] microphone

2017-12-25 Thread Joel F
Public bug reported:

I'm using Xubuntu 17.10 and found that none of my microphones work
anymore. One is a 4 mic array on the PS3 camera, which worked in other
versions of Xubuntu. Typically, I download and compile the mainline
Kernel for full PS3 cam support.

I downloaded and compiled all of the ALSA and Pulseaudio packages to fix
this but still no microphone. I can see it in the audio panel app, the
microphones are there but they don't work. Works fine in Windows (except
the PS3 cam).

New Kernel did not work. 4.13.16 and 4.14.9.
New Pulseaudio did not work. 1.11
New ALSA did not work. 1.1.15

Seems to be an issue with all recording devices.

** Affects: xfce4-volumed (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: devices recording

[Bug 1715146] Re: Not Suspending When Lid is Closed Causing Heat Issue

2017-12-25 Thread Mario Limonciello
Since you're on artful can you please use fwupdmgr to check the version
of the Thunderbolt NVM? I wonder if your thunderbolt controller is in
safe mode. If so you won't be seeing a version in fwupd. Please share
your fwupdmgr devices output.

2017-12-25 Thread wdoekes
Hi there,

I upgraded to Ubuntu Artful the other day, and today I updated the Dell
BIOS (using the GUI tools).

Out of curiosity, I went back to check this: re-*enabling* Thunderbolt
in the BIOS *still* *breaks* *suspend*.

Again "Some devices failed to suspend, or early wake event detected".

[Bug 1685502] Re: Network manager icon appears twice on start up, from time to time

2017-12-25 Thread Adrian
This bug has remained over the years. The problem is that both the
"Notification area" and "Indicator plugin" panel items contain their own
copy of the Network icon. Only the latter shows a mouse hover effect for
it, so I assume it's the correct/preferable place to contain it.

A quick-fix is to remove both panel items, re-adding the Notification
area first. As the Indicator plugin gets added, some check appears to
happen which then removes the duplicate Network icon from the
Notification area.

Unfortunately this fix doesn't last forever, and the logic is clearly
fragile (it should be triggered under more conditions, e.g. on each
startup.

I saw another suggestion about "clearing saved sessions" but I don't use
sessions and it had no effect for me.
