[Bug 1801469] [NEW] LibreOffice Writer still does not print two-sided to HP printer
Public bug reported: I have seen entries on Ask Ubuntu about this issue. I have previously reported the problem 6 months ago. LibreOffice still prints only single- sided despite the duplex-printing being set. It is not the HP OfficeJet 7740 printer. Is not the HP Linux driver. It is Writer. As a work around, I am saving the document as a pdf file, opening it in my browser (Chrome) and printing it 2-sided. Works perfectly. This is a long term bug in LibroOffice Writer. It affects everyone who has an HP printer. It needs to be fixed - (it can be fixed since Chromium and Chrome can do it). [Bug 1801438] Re: "Install Lubuntu 18.10" icon on desktop results in "Execute File" window appearing
I cannot reproduce this. Here's the sha256sum of the image I'm using: 99408e73e5ff11727be6987d9b2f8ee3b6a3b672c9da540a63c8b462a0cf63c4 lubuntu-18.10-desktop-amd64.iso which is indeed the published one: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/cosmic/release/SHA256SUMS Looking at the manifest: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/cosmic/release/lubuntu-18.10-desktop-amd64.manifest one finds, among other things: libfm-qt5:amd64 0.13.1-5ubuntu7 casper 1.399 The last few changes in libfm included changes that allow for trusting executables, thus eliminating the dialogs you're seeing if a special flag is set for a particular executable. Furthermore in casper, you'll see that a change was made to set that for the Lubuntu installer. Perhaps your image doesn't match the hash correctly? A small bit of difference can have dramatic effects. ** Changed in: calamares (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801438 Title: "Install Lubuntu 18.10" icon on desktop results in "Execute File" window appearing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1801438/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1801437] Re: Both "Install Lubuntu 18.10" and "Install System" appear in the System menu of the Live session.
Calamares comes with a desktop file, which isn't easily overridden without potentially affecting everyone installing Calamares. We provide our own Lubuntu specific desktop file, which is not part of the calamares package, to allow for Lubuntu-specific branding. So it is what it is. But there's only one icon on the Desktop. There's no real expectation that a user would be searching through the menus to do their install. ** Changed in: calamares (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801437 Title: Both "Install Lubuntu 18.10" and "Install System" appear in the System menu of the Live session. [Bug 1801447] [NEW] Boot-time login screen image lingers too long after password accepted
Public bug reported: First, when logging in from the boot screen, there is no indication that the password entered was accepted. The image remains on the screen what seems a long time. So long, that eventually, the boot screen image ends up sharing the screen with the panel as it is displayed, only disappearing when the desktop/icons are finally displayed. See attached photos. They are both after the panel has displayed, the second after one or more additional notifications (system tray?) appear. (Sorry about the quality of the photos - Since it had not yet finished logging in, I assumed I would not be able to invoke screengrab fast enough to catch the image I needed...) [Bug 1801442] [NEW] Redundant boot-flag-clearing lines in overview window
Public bug reported: I don't use my Windows partition, except once in a while, when I need files from it, so I do not boot from it. When I saw "boot" checked, amongst various other flags, I unchecked it (I probably didn't need to - I don't know what all those flags do, anyway...) On the overview summary, "Clear all flags for /dev/sda2" (or similar wording) appeared 3 times. [Bug 1800214] Re: Enable TLS 1.3 by default in NGINX configs for Cosmic
Hello Thomas, or anyone else affected, Accepted nginx into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/1.15.5-0ubuntu2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Description changed: [Reason for SRU] Ubuntu Cosmic 18.10 ships with OpenSSL 1.1.1, which has TLS 1.3 support. It was intended to enable TLS 1.3 in the default nginx.conf so that TLS v1.3 support would be "enabled by default" if you enabled SSL, however it did not get included due to my own schedule and issues. TLS 1.3 is the newest TLS protocol version and is available in OpenSSL 1.1.1. Behind the scenes, if TLS 1.3 support is available in OpenSSL, it's available to NGINX when compiled against that version of OpenSSL. Enabling this by default in the NGINX configuration file is trivial to do, simply add TLSv1.3 to the `ssl_protocols` list. Doing this in the default config is probably a good idea since we have TLS v1.3 support available. This would be specifically for Cosmic. [Regression Potential] OpenSSL 1.1.1 is the latest stable release of OpenSSL as of September. TLS 1.3 is the latest TLS protocol. The TLS 1.3 protocol is the latest and 'more robust' TLS protocol version and should be used where possible. - Regression potential for the change to enable TLSv1.3 by default for - NGINX in Cosmic would be minimal, as OpenSSL already has this protocol - available. + There is risk of regression for clients which fail to negotiate a + connection when TLS 1.3 is presented. This is a risk we are accepting + as a necessary evil of continuing to evolve the security of network + services on the Internet. - Should this cause any regressions, reverting is very simple as we just - remove TLSv1.3 from the ssl_protocols line in the nginx.conf file. - - There is a regression risk for *browsers and clients* accessing things - running on NGINX - TLS 1.3 could have some rollout pains and some - browsers and endpoint clients might barf as TLS 1.3 becomes a 'thing'. - However, this is more or less on those clients to be a failure case, and - if we get too many things breaking from this enabling TLS1.3 in addition - to TLS 1.2, 1.1, and 1.0, we can just revert this change with the simple - revision change indicated above (remove TLS1.3 from the ssl_protocols in - nginx.conf) + If nginx-specific protocol negotiation regressions are identified with + the use of TLSv1.3 which are not seen with other TLSv1.3-enabled servers + in cosmic, these must still be treated with priority as SRU regressions. [Other Info] It was completely intended prior to Cosmic's release that I would enable TLSv1.3 as a 'default' supported TLS protocol in nginx.conf. Unfortunately, things got a little bit busy for me and that change was not included. It would be beneficial to include TLSv1.3 in NGINX default protocols due to the additional security advantages that come with TLSv1.3. ** Changed in: nginx (Ubuntu Cosmic) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-cosmic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1800214 Title: Enable TLS 1.3 by default in NGINX configs for Cosmic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1800214/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1799665] Re: [cosmic regression] fails to parse known_hosts, resulting in SSH_SERVER_FOUND_OTHER error for hostkey verification
Hello Martin, or anyone else affected, Accepted libssh into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libssh/0.8.1-1ubuntu0.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. ** Changed in: libssh (Ubuntu Cosmic) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-cosmic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799665 Title: [cosmic regression] fails to parse known_hosts, resulting in SSH_SERVER_FOUND_OTHER error for hostkey verification To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libssh/+bug/1799665/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1794589] Re: libssl1.0-dev conflicts libssl-dev
Our project also links against libssh-dev (sorry, I meant to mention that), which has the same problem, but lacks a libssh-openssl1.0-dev. Also, it's somewhat jarring to have to change dependency names when we build against ubuntu 18.04 vs. 16.04; we can do that, and have done it, but it adds a layer of confusion. Giving up on Ubuntu's node seems like the best option at the moment, which makes me sad. But since the next version of node uses the 'right' version of openssl for ubuntu 18.04, it's very very tempting to grab that from debian and slam it in to our 18.04 under a different name (as we did with nodejs6 for a while). I'm fighting a rising tide of "just use docker and upstream everything", so if you don't hear from me anymore, I may have drowned :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1794589 Title: libssl1.0-dev conflicts libssl-dev To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nodejs/+bug/1794589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

On Fri, Nov 02, 2018 at 09:19:56PM -, Dan Kegel wrote: > Yup, I have a package that uses node and requires libssl-dev and > libcurl-openssl. Ok, thanks for clarifying. But there is a build of libcurl-openssl linked against libssl1.0 in 18.04, and therefore compatible with nodejs (libcurl-openssl1.0-dev). And if you are using libssl directly, then you should use the one that's compatible with the other libraries that you depend on (in this case: libssl1.0-dev which would be compatible with nodejs-dev). You wouldn't be able to take advantage of newer features from OpenSSL 1.1, but that is the tradeoff of using nodejs packages from an Ubuntu release before OpenSSL 1.1 support is complete. Does the above configuration meet your needs for a coherently installable set of build dependencies, or are there other ssl-depending Ubuntu library packages in the mix besides? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1794589 Title: libssl1.0-dev conflicts libssl-dev To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nodejs/+bug/1794589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
