[Bug 1802691] Re: Slow receive speed with Intel I219-V

2018-11-10 Thread Cristian Aravena Romero
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1802697] [NEW] Remove rarian from Ubuntu

2018-11-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

rarian will be removed from Debian soon. It has been obsolete for years.

Notes
-
gnome-raw-thumbnailer and gnome-translate both depend on libgnome stuff that we
are working to remove from Debian & Ubuntu. Those libraries have already been
removed from Debian Testing. Therefore, we might as well remove them from
Ubuntu now. Both of those packages have been unmaintained upstream for over a
decade.

ekiga is being removed from Debian too.

[Bug 1802696] [NEW] Laptop suspends on login with external screen and lid closed

2018-11-10 Thread Nickolay Ihalainen
Public bug reported:

Release:18.10
with latest updates installed.

I have mouse, keyboard and external screen connected to the laptop, lid is
closed.
Right after boot I'm selecting user, typing password, pressing enter and after
a few seconds laptop suspends (fan stopped, keyboard lights turned off).
Pressing space on a keyboard wakes it up.

MSI GL72 7RD, nvidia drivers installed 390.87, X11 ubuntu desktop
session selected in login screen.

Could be resolved if sleep is disabled on systemd side:
sudo systemctl mask sleep.target suspend.target hibernate.target
hybrid-sleep.target

[Bug 1710318] Re: Please remove webkitgtk from Ubuntu

2018-11-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

- Several webkit1 reverse-dependencies have been removed from Debian
- Testing ('buster').
+ webkitgtk has been removed from Debian Testing and will be removed from
+ Unstable once Eclipse is updated.

- While I'd like to see them removed from unstable too (or ported away
- from webkit1), that will take quite a while longer.
-
- Removed from testing
-
- luakit (there's an ITA but it's a web browser so I wouldn't be too sad if
luakit is removed until it can be at least properly maintained in Debian)
- thawab
- xiphos
+ The version of Eclipse currently in Debian/Ubuntu has been out of date
+ since 2012 or 2013. It also fails to build from source.

  Never in Debian
  ===
  lightdm-webkit-greeter
Mike Gabriel from Debian MATE has begun preparing web-greeter (the renamed
version of lightdm-webkit-greeter)

  See Also

  LP: #1588150

  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?users=pkg-webkit-
  maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org

  Other Info
  ==
Arch Linux completely removed webkit1 in 2017.

- We still need to figure out how to handle eclipse in order to completely
- remove webkitgtk.
+ If you use reverse-depends, note that libequinox-osgi-java has been
+ split into its own source package now.

Do this also need a removal request in Debian? Whilst checkbox-ng was
removed from testing, it is still present in unstable. See

Maybe an RM, RoM bug needs to be filed there too?

[Bug 1795292] Re: ELAN469D touch pad not working

2018-11-10 Thread Patrick Van Oosterwijck
Yes, that works for me too! Thanks Kenji! Stock 4.18.0-10 kernel with
`noapic` removed and `ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0` added to the kernel
command line makes the touch pad work. It seems the `i2c_designware`
timeout error has disappeared from dmesg.

I have a couple of issues left:

- On 4.18 the microphone input doesn't work, while on 4.15 it did. See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1796582. Are
either of you seeing the same problem? If so please comment on that
bug.

- Bluetooth works but I need to remove and reconnect my BT mouse all the
time. On my other laptop the mouse doesn't have this problem.
Bluetooth is RTL8821CE.

- What driver are you using for WiFi? My WiFi is RTL8821CE, do you guys
have the same? I'm using this driver:
https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce. It works, but I'm not seeing
my 5GHz network, only my 2GHz.

Thanks for all the help guys, this laptop may finally become useful
after all. :)

[Bug 1802313] Re: Update gnome-control-center to 3.30.2

2018-11-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-control-center -
1:3.30.2-1ubuntu1

---
gnome-control-center (1:3.30.2-1ubuntu1) disco; urgency=medium

  * Merge with debian unstable (LP: #1802313). Remaining changes:
+ debian/control.in:
  - Depend on language-selector-gnome and whoopsie-preferences
  - Depend on instead of Recommend system-config-printer
  - Recommend ibus and ubuntu-system-service
  - Suggest instead of Recommend gnome-user-share, realmd and rygel
  - Build-Depend on dh-migrations and libwhoopsie-preferences-dev
  - Don't recommend libnss-myhostname since systemd-resolved handles this
functionality
  - Bump dep on g-s-d and schema
+ Split gnome-control-center-faces to a separate package so that it can be
used by unity-control-center & recommend this
+ Install apport hook
+ debian/gnome-control-center-data.install:
  - Don't install gnome-control-center.pkla since we use
policykit-desktop-privileges instead
  - Install additional assets used by unity-control-center
+ debian/ubuntu-logo-icon.png, debian/source/include-binaries,
  debian/gnome-control-center-data.install: Include an Ubuntu logo
+ debian/gnome-control-center-data.links:
  - Link audio-speaker-center* to audio-speaker-mono* so that an
icon is shown in the test speaker panel.
+ debian/rules: Enable whoospie integration
+ Add migration script to transition from old user settings to new one.
+ debian/patches:
  - 52_region_language.patch:
Adapt region panel to use Ubuntu style regions
  - 64_restore_terminal_keyboard_shortcut.patch
 Bring back terminal shortcut
  - 70_allow_sound_above_100.patch:
Allow setting volume above 100% in the Ubuntu session
  - 71_ubuntu_dock_settings.patch
Add Dock panel for Ubuntu session
  - 99_add_lock-on-suspend.patch
Add option to lock on suspend
  - auto_quit_after_goa_add.patch
Hide window after adding an online account from another app.
  - connectivity-switch.patch
Add Connectivity Checking switch to Privacy panel
  - distro-logo.patch:
Add Ubuntu branding to Details panel
  - privacy-panel-whoopsie.patch
Support Ubuntu's whoopsie service in the Privacy panel
  - ubuntu-language-support.patch
Add Language Support button to Region & Language panel to work around
  - ubuntu-legacy-notifications.patch
Ubuntu ships compatibility names for .desktop that got renamed
upstream, those use NoDisplay but the panel doesn't respect that key,
skip known buggy entries for file-roller and nautilus
  - ubuntu-printer-support.patch
Add Advanced Printer Settings button to work around missing printer
 sharing feature
  - ubuntu-region-langpack-install.patch:
Check for missing language packs when loading region panel to pull
in packs that aren't included with the installer
  - ubuntu-region-packagekit.patch
Fix detection of installed language packs
  * debian/patches:
+ 08_lowercase_user_names.patch: Drop because an alternative fix is included
  in Debian.
+ d/p/region-Fix-double-free-when-closing-the-input-chooser-dia.patch: Drop
  because applied upstream.
+ Patches have been round-tripped through gbp-pq and all rebased on the new
version - that's why their metadata has changed.

gnome-control-center (1:3.30.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * d/p/Debian-s-adduser-doesn-t-allow-uppercase-letters-by-defau.patch:
- Debian's adduser doesn't allow uppercase letters by default
  (Closes: #910141)

[Bug 1801551] Re: ubuntu does not load the image from swap after hibernation

2018-11-10 Thread stephen bond
Steve,

I will be happy to test any specific commands

cat: /tmp/initrd/main/conf/conf.d/zz-auto-resume: No such file or
directory

also I saw other bug reports reporting the same problem see

In Progress
#332365

I thought that hibernate will dump the workspace onto swap. I think it does
that. however the wake up does not load from swap.
can you suggest some diagnostic commands?
thanks

[Bug 1760818] Re: gedit and gnome-calculator transparency/graphics corruption issue when GTK_IM_MODULE=xim is set

2018-11-10 Thread Chrescht
Are you all on gnome-shell? I have the same transparency issue in gnome-
session-flashback / lightdm, but only when using theme Ambiance. I moved
to theme Adwaita and the transparency issues are gone.

Setting the input method to iBus does fix it for theme Ambiance too.

[Bug 1795292] Re: ELAN469D touch pad not working

2018-11-10 Thread FF8Jake
Happy to confirm that I am typing this from the laptop running a fresh
Ubuntu 18.10 installation. The only snag I had was after the installer
completes, it doesn't want to pop up the grub menu (goes straight into
booting Ubuntu), which would prompt a crash due to the grub cmd not
being in place. You have to hit ESC right before the Lenovo boot logo
disappears for this to pop up. After that you can edit the boot line to
get booted up and edit /etc/default/grub.

Thanks again everyone for your help!

[Bug 1792932] Re: Cosmic Desktop fails to boot in vbox: Xorg assert failure: Xorg: ../../../../dix/privates.c:384: dixRegisterPrivateKey: Assertion `!global_keys[type].created' failed.

2018-11-10 Thread Adalbert Hanßen
I am using Xubuntu 16.04.3 LTS, my current Linux kernel is
4.4.0-116-generic x86_64.

I also get a similar error message:

Xorg.assert.failure:Xorg: ../../dix/privates.c:385:
dixRegisterPrivateKey: Assertion ‘lglobal_keys[type].created‘ fails

(above it is c:384) The bug is told to be a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1659842:

But the error reporting software tells me that the bug is a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629678 which also does not exist, but
here it is a different one than told above.

BTW: Is there a way to catch the error report sent in. It is very
tedious to retype what I can see when I inspect on what the error
reporting software sends in.

According to

apt list --installed

I have no package xorg-server. I only have

xorg/xenial-updates,now 1:7.7+13ubuntu3.1 amd64 [installiert]
xorg-docs-core/xenial,xenial,now 1:1.7.1-1ubuntu1 all [installiert]
xorg-sgml-doctools/xenial,xenial,now 1:1.11-1 all [Installiert,automatisch]

Is there anything which I should install to get rid of the error.

[Bug 1802680] [NEW] Adding keyboard layout broken without logout

2018-11-10 Thread Matt Arsenault
Public bug reported:

On my system, the default keyboard layout is English (Colemak). I have
English (US) as a secondary keyboard layout.

I attempted to add Russian, which worked. However, when I switched to it
using Super+Space, input was really done in Qwerty. Both Russian and
English (US) were effectively qwerty options until I logged out and back
in.

are a common source of problems.
Furthermore run the following command in a Terminal: apt-get install -f
Transaction failed: The package system is broken
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

gnome-settings-daemon: Depends: libgudev-1.0-0 (>= 146) but 1:232-2 is installed
   Depends: libnspr4 (>= 2:4.9-2~) but 2:4.18-1ubuntu1 is
installed
   Depends: libnss3 (>= 2:3.13.4-2~) but 2:3.35-2ubuntu2 is
installed
   Depends: libxi6 (>= 2:1.2.99.4) but 2:1.7.9-1 is
installed
   Depends: gnome-settings-daemon-schemas (=
3.28.1-0ubuntu1.1) but 3.28.1-0ubuntu1 is installed

I do not believe I am using third party repositories. How can I fix my
system?

Thank you

[Bug 1802676] [NEW] lintian: priority should be optional not extra

2018-11-10 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

when building this package lintian does:

Now running lintian
golang-github-mattn-go-runewidth_0.0.2+git20170510.3.97311d9-1ubuntu2_amd64.changes
 ...
W: golang-github-mattn-go-runewidth-dev:
priority-extra-is-replaced-by-priority-optional
W: golang-github-mattn-go-runewidth-dev: package-has-long-file-name 81 > 80
Finished running lintian.

this occurs on both bionic and cosmic versions of
golang-github-mattn-go-runewidth
( eg both 0.0.2+git20170510.3.97311d9-1ubuntu2 ).

Included patch changes priority to 'optional' which shuts lintian up.
