[Bug 1844195] Re: beegfs-meta lockup with glibc 2.27 on bionic
Hi, we have the same issue. I can confirm that after attaching gdb to the beegfs-meta process, it resumes normal operation. On our system it seems the issue is recuring more or less around 24h. [Bug 1844841] Re: Changes within a directory only appear if manually refreshing with F5
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 184481 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. I also just tested this on my 19.10 box (thunar: Installed: 1.8.9-1) and didn't have an issue on directories created within thunar itself, nor an opened terminal where I `mkdir /path/new-dir` with `thunar` showing the directory on which I was creating the directory. I tested this using both local directories, and NFS directories stored on another box. (I realize my box is a different version; it's my belief I'll get the same response on 19.04 & currently don't have time to start up a 19.04 box, but please read on) Are the directories you are creating being created on your existing box/session? or from another box (eg. if I `ssh` to the server where my directory is actually stored & create directory there, my local machine's thunar which is displaying the directory located on the other box does not see that creation, as it was done on another box - is this the sort new file/folder creation you mean??) I've marked this incomplete, please provide more detail as requested, or clarification, (or tell me if I'm wrong), then please return the status of this bug to "New" Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. ** Changed in: thunar (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844841 Title: Changes within a directory only appear if manually refreshing with F5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/1844841/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1834967] Re: Activities overview doesn't shrink some windows adequately and they are partially off screen
Ok, I did not manage to figure this one out yet, but I did find something interesting. The windows actually scale differently depending on whether the panel is extended or not. You can just install dconf- editor and go to /org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock and toggle extend-height in order to change this setting. I caused the clipping to show up by just launching gedit and maximizing it before going to the overview. You can see from the attached screenshot that the only difference in the activities view is the panel on the right-side is not extended, and yet the gedit window on the left looks much larger, as though it was zoomed in. That is what is causing the clipping and why Fedora is unaffected even with the same extension. The scaling in Fedora is identical to the right-hand side of the image where the panel is not extended. There is some difference in how the windows are being drawn. Another example: If I open two non-maximized gedit windows, in Fedora they will appear side by side. In Ubuntu? Top and bottom, with the bottom clipped. I tried looking at a diff of the Ubuntu Dock code vs stock dash-to-dock, but I wasn't able to find any difference relating to size/scaling of the windows, so I'm not sure exactly what is causing it. ** Attachment added: "extended-panel-vs-non-extended.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1834967/+attachment/5290087/+files/extended-panel-vs-non-extended.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1834967 Title: Activities overview doesn't shrink some windows adequately and they are partially off screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1834967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1834967] Re: Activities overview doesn't shrink some windows adequately and they are partially off screen
@carlosjosepita The thing is that dash-to-dock also adopts Ubuntu Dock settings, since that is what Ubuntu Dock is based on. So if I remove Ubuntu Dock, for example, but then install dash-to-dock, it actually starts in panel mode. (that is not a default) The fact that this bug does not seem to occur in Fedora 30 with dash-to-dock (v66) installed makes me believe it is some Ubuntu Dock specific thing, but I am just speculating atm. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1834967 Title: Activities overview doesn't shrink some windows adequately and they are partially off screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1834967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1834967] Re: Activities overview doesn't shrink some windows adequately and they are partially off screen
I attempted to replicate this bug on Fedora 30 in a VM by installing dash-to-dock and enabling panel mode, but the previews do scale properly there. So strange... In Ubuntu, you can easily replicate this bug by installing Ubuntu 19.10 in a VM and just launching Firefox, Files, and Rhythmbox. As the largest window, Firefox is put down to the bottom and clipped. At least on my system, disabling panel mode fixes the issue to where I can basically create infinite previews and see all the window titles, and re-enabling it triggers the clipping once again.

Here is a proper screenshot. The bug occurs whenever the windows become large enough or numerous enough, at which point they overflow past the bottom screen in the Activities Overview. They are clipped to where if you highlight them, you cannot see their window titles. I tested not having the dock installed and this problem did not appear, so it seems to be a bug in the extension. In fact, I just installed the dash-to-dock extension, and if you turn off the 'panel mode' so that the dock does not extend all the way down, the problem goes away. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2019-09-20 15-43-05.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1834967/+attachment/5290085/+files/Screenshot%20from%202019-09-20%2015-43-05.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1834967 Title: Activities overview doesn't shrink some windows adequately and they are partially off screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1834967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1844809] [NEW] clicking desktop notifications to bring up linked up works intermittently in 19.10?
Public bug reported: This is not going to be the highest quality bug report :-(, since it's an intermittent issue and I don't know exactly what triggers it and I can't even say with 100% certainty that it's new in 19.10, but I _think_ it is so I wanted to give people a heads-up just in case. I just upgrade to 19.10 from 19.04. I use the Google Hangouts Chrome app. When I get a text message in Hangouts it pops up a desktop notification. Usually clicking on the notification causes the Hangouts window to open. When I clicked on the notification nothing happened. Then I got a second notification later and clicked on that one and the window opened as it should have. Then I got a third notification later and clicked on that one and again the window didn't open. Yes, if we can get it into dev, I'd happily make debdiffs to SRU it to bionic/disco. >And please just that alone? Yes, just updating the patch to your latest version. [Bug 1844811] [NEW] system menu is no longer dark in Yaru-dark or Adwaita-dark theme
Public bug reported: The system menu from the top bar is no longer dark in the Adwait-dark or Yaru-dark theme after upgrading from 19.04 to 19.10. See attached screenshot. [Bug 1844808] [NEW] in 19.10 can't delete file from desktop by clicking it and hitting delete key
Public bug reported: Just upgraded to 19.10 today. Previously, in 19.04, I could delete a file from the desktop by clicking on it and hitting the delete key. That no longer works. It's probably relevant that it doesn't appear to be possible to direct keyboard focus to the desktop itself any longer. When I click on an icon on the desktop and then hit the delete key, the keystroke is sent to the window that had focus before I clicked. This appears to be true regardless of what window focus mode I'm using (Click to Focus, Focus on Hover, or Secondary-Click). Note that the description of Secondary- Click, "Window is focused when hovered with the pointer. Hovering the desktop removes focus from the previous window," does not appear to be true. When I select that focus mode and hover my mouse over the desktop I remain focused on the previously focused window. [Bug 1844805] [NEW] virtualbox, virtualbox-dkms, virtualbox-qt fail during upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10
Public bug reported: I upgraded this morning from 19.04 to 19.10 with `do-release-upgrade -d` and the upgrade reported that virtualbox, virtualbox-qt, and virtualbox- dkms encountered problems during the upgrade. I uninstalled and reinstalled them after rebooting and saw this: ``` ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-5.0.0-29-generic is not supported Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.0.0-29-generic (x86_64) Consult /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/6.0.12/build/make.log for more information. ``` I think this means the version of virtualbox in 19.10 doesn't want to compile against a 19.04 kernel? The problem with this, of course, is that everyone who upgrades from 19.04 to 19.10 is going to have a 19.04 kernel installed during the upgrade (and afterward, since one old kernel is saved), so the upgrade will fail for everyone with virtualbox installed. I think this needs to be fixed? [Bug 1844802] [NEW] Update to supervisor 4.0.0 or later for Python 3 support
Public bug reported: The version of supervisor currently packaged here is compliant only with Python 2. Since Python 2 will EOL in a few months (January 1, 2020), it would be good to update to a version of supervisor that is based on Python 3. The first supervisor version on PyPI that supports Python 3 is 4.0.0: https://github.com/Supervisor/supervisor/issues/1060#issuecomment-480438643, so it would be nice to update to at least 4.0.0 or later. ** Affects: supervisor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844802 Title: Update to supervisor 4.0.0 or later for Python 3 support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/supervisor/+bug/1844802/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1621732] Re: gedit doesn't show last newline
This command fixes this issue (somewhat): gsettings set org.gnome.gedit.preferences.editor ensure-trailing-newline false By disabling the automatic addition of a last newline, gedit will show the actual last newline. I would argue that it's rather an issue of 'ensure-trailing-newline' being unintuitive. see: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=625955 ** Bug watch added: bugzilla.gnome.org/ #625955 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=625955 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1621732 Title: gedit doesn't show last newline To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1621732/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1831297] Re: Gnote application menu should contain a Preferences item
The upstream bug was closed on 2019-06-08 saying that the Preferences menu item was visible using gnote 3.32.1 in Fedora. I can confirm that the Preferences menu item is visible in Ubuntu 19.10 (dev) where gnote 3.32.1-1 is now available. Closing as fixed. ** Changed in: gnote (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1831297 Title: Gnote application menu should contain a Preferences item To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnote/+bug/1831297/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
