[Bug 1756191] Re: Thumbnail sidebar shows error icons in place of some images.
Hi, I have new installation of Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (xubuntu). It has ristretto 0.8.2 and the bug still occurs there. It's nice to have fixed the bug, but I don't understand why the LTS users should have work with the buggy version until next LTS. Any plans to fix it in current LTS? Or do I miss an easy way how to install ristretto 0.8.3 (the fixed version) in my current system? Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756191 Title: Thumbnail sidebar shows error icons in place of some images. [Bug 1858067] Re: package firefox 71.0+build5-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so I am marking it incomplete and suggesting you seek support. Processing triggers for man-db (2.7.5-1) ... dpkg: error processing package firefox (--configure): package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration In the description you mentioned "I found /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend was locked by dpkg when I was trying to install other app, then i killed it" which is the most likely cause of this problem. The lock is there to prevent another process from trying to install/remove/upgrade software whilst a process is already writing to that system. You killed this safety/protection system allowing corruption. [Bug 1858011] Re: Discover app bug, cant find some apps
I'll also add that there's no similar problem with Greek, so it's not that it's non-English languages that are the problem. So far, it seems that it is specifically Turkish. I can confirm this by changing to Turkish language, logging out and back in, and then opening Discover. This is somehow related to AppStream but I'm a bit unclear how. I believe, and I'm no drive expert, that you need to look for the label type to make this determination. [Bug 1858048] Re: install errpr
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. This package failure looks like it was caused by bad ISO download, corrupted install media, or device failure. eg. look in the logs and you'll see messages like these :- Jan 1 23:30:05 ubuntu-studio kernel: [ 353.757611] SQUASHFS error: zlib decompression failed, data probably corrupt Jan 1 23:30:05 ubuntu-studio kernel: [ 353.757620] SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x25b627dc Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a useful bug report so I am closing it, as it appears to be a bad ISO or faulty device (inc. bad write-to-device). If you believe I'm in error, please leave a comment explaining why and change the status back to 'New'. I suggest you verify your ISO download, and use the 'check disc for defects' option to validate your media before install to ensure a good download & write. [Bug 1858051] [NEW] md5 auth is broken in sane-backend
Public bug reported: When attempting to use saned resources that are protected by md5, the current version (1.0.27-3.2ubuntu3) fails. To reproduce: $ sudo echo testuser:goodpass:test > /etc/sane.d/saned.users This will tell saned to put a password on the 'test' resource. Ensure that ~/.sane/pass contains: testuser:goodpass:test testuser:goodpass:net:localhost:test This will cause sane clients to send the appropriate password. Then: $ scanimage -d net:localhost:test --accept-md5-only > /tmp/foo scanimage: open of device net:localhost:test failed: Access to resource has been denied This is not expected. sane-backend built at head does not exhibit the problem. The issue was caused upstream by https://gitlab.com/earlephilhower/backends/commit/39ceeae616a2e1638c2760d4364adcaa210a413b and was fixed by https://gitlab.com/sane- project/backends/commit/74898c4330cc25521ddbf008aa18db75fc00af1b. It would be nice to get a new release of sane-utils to fix this issue. [Bug 1858040] Re: Kubuntu 19.10 installer selects wrong disk for grub when installed to 2nd disk
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1858040/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1858040] [NEW] Kubuntu 19.10 installer selects wrong disk for grub when installed to 2nd disk
Public bug reported: The system has a HDD (sda) for data and a SSD (sdb) for system. In BIOS, SSD is given as first disk but this is not recognized by kernel. The system has a legacy BIOS, no EFI. At the installation all the options have been activated (full installation with updates and HW drivers). The installation was requested to use entire SSD (sdb) without LVM. When installation is finalizing, an error pops up that installation of grub to /dev/sda failed. [Bug 1858035] [NEW] Xorg freeze (Ubuntu 19.10 stuck on splash screen)
Public bug reported: Yesterday I had just installed Ubuntu 19.10 and after my third or fourth reboot it would not start, it just got stuck on the splash screen. I didn't know what to do, but I still had the USB from which I had installed Ubuntu, so I plugged it in and booted up from the USB, and then I pressed the shutdown button, and before it shut down Ubuntu asked me to remove the installation media and press OK, I did, the laptop shut down, and now I booted up my laptop as usual, not from the USB, and this time it did not get stuck on the splash screen. So I left it at that, but just now, I booted up my laptop, and again it got stuck again, and so again I did the boot up from the USB, shut down, remove USB, and reboot as usual from the laptops HDD. Now it works again. This problem seems to happen on a random basis. I hope this helps to solve this problem. [Bug 1484157] Re: AltGr key acts like "Select All"
Same bug here after updating the system from 16.04 LTS to 19.04. German keyboard layout, so it is pretty annoying, especially when entering passwords in Firefox. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1484157 Title: AltGr key acts like "Select All" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1484157/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1484157] Re: AltGr key acts like "Select All"
Addendum to comment #16: Switching the "keyboard input method system" to either "XIM" or "none" does NOT help on my system. Moving the focus between several input fields sometimes restores the correct behaviour and suddenly changes back to the faulty one, usually when pressing Alt Gr after typing some characters.
