No, I think https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-
extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1855711 is not my issue.

I mean to say, the keyboard doesn't work particularly on the desktop
icons. However, it works in Nautilus, terminal & other apps.

Please let me if you need further information. Thanks.

[Bug 1881060] Re: Screen lock tiggers segfault

2020-05-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please try without these extensions:

'unitylike-hot...@webgyerek.net',
'workspace-indica...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com',
'wsmat...@martin.zurowietz.de',
'launch-new-insta...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com',
'panel-...@berend.de.schouwer.gmail.com',
'dash-to-d...@micxgx.gmail.com',
'user-th...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com',
'drive-m...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com',
'gtktitle...@velitasali.github.io'

We need to try removing extensions as a first step because so many bugs
are caused by them. But also...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1875522] Re: suggest removing -d requirement to upgrade to new releases

2020-05-27 Thread Steve Langasek
The release notes have been fixed to document the need for -d until the
point release.

I categorically disagree that we should message an LTS-to-LTS upgrade,
prior to the first point release, as anything other than "development".
During each LTS cycle, we are routinely fixing critical upgrade bugs up
until the point release, and no one who is not prepared to deal with
those on the same level as a user installing or upgrading to a beta
release of Ubuntu should be doing that LTS upgrade at that time.

> Going back to my original note, I think that for folks on the normal track,
> they should get nagged to upgrade before the point release. They're already
> not looking for LTS capability, so why should we try to provide it?

That is already the case. This bug only affects LTS-to-LTS upgrades.

I'm closing this bug as Opinion, as I don't see that there is any clear
path to addressing the request while satisfying the constraint that we
don't want casual users who are not prepared to deal with critical
upgrade bugs without overwhelming our support capacity to be doing LTS-
LTS upgrades before .1.

Wireless USB mouse stopped working after 'sudo apt upgrade' on 0:00 UTC 28th

I also upgraded BIOS of ThinkStation P500 from A4KT89US to A4KTA7US just an

However I plugged in an old wired Elecom USB mouse and this is working.
And also I tried another wireless USB mouse Logicool M570, this model is

2020-05-27 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
I don't think it's a kernel issue. Some userspace process blocked the

USB?

BTW the power status on MAAS will be "OFF"
And since this KVM will be in "paused" state, it needs to be destroyed before

[Bug 1881055] Re: Error reading medium

2020-05-27 Thread Chris Guiver
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1874662 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874662

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This package failure looks like it was caused by bad ISO download,
corrupted install media, or device failure. eg. look in the logs and
you'll see messages like these :-

May 28 02:41:35 ubuntu kernel: [ 148.018755] SQUASHFS error: zlib
decompression failed, data probably corrupt
May 28 02:41:35 ubuntu kernel: [ 148.018764] SQUASHFS error:
squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x524c0

Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be
a useful bug report so I am closing it, as it appears to be a bad ISO or
faulty device (inc. bad write-to-device). If you believe I'm in error,
please leave a comment explaining why and change the status back to
'New'. I suggest you verify your ISO download, and note the validation
of your ISO before install to ensure a good download & write.

[Bug 1881055] [NEW] Error reading medium

2020-05-27 Thread Kristoffer Grundström
Public bug reported:

I downloaded the iso using a torrent and as I started the installation
it crashed with an error saying that the medium is broken.

The USB stick used as an installation media works just fine with Windows
10 and Mageia (RPM based distro), but burning any iso of Ubuntu over
16.04 recreates this crash.

That sounds strange. Please look at /var/log/apt/history.log to see
what's uninstalling it. If you can't find the answer then please the

[Bug 1880991] Re: Xorg freeze

2020-05-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt

[Bug 1881046] Re: ASoC/amd: add audio driver for amd renoir

2020-05-27 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

- this bug is for tracking purpose.
+ This patchset is for mainline kernel-5.8, after backporting to 5.6,
+ there is no need to change anything, but after backporting to 5.4
+ kernel, because of API differences, need to do some change to adapt
+ to 5.4 kernel's API. So there is one more patch for focal than for
+ oem-5.6.
+
+ [Impact]
+ We have a couple of LENOVO machines which has amd renoir audio on
+ them, our kernel doesn't have the driver for it yet.
+
+ [Fix]
+ amd just upstreamed the driver, it is for kernel-5.8, we backport
+ them to ubunt kernel.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ boot the kernel with those patches, we could see a sound card named
+ "acp" and the dmic on it could record sound via arecord.
+
+ [Regression Risk]
+ Low, just adding a new driver, no change to existing drivers.

[Bug 1880825] Re: Create guest failed on xen-hypervisor on Ubuntu 20.04

2020-05-27 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

It seems that you are using a custom device_model_override
(coming from /usr/local/lib).

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'.

However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

[Bug 1874662] Re: Corrupted installation medium

2020-05-27 Thread Chris Guiver
@Kristoffer / umeaboy - the most common failure in my experience is the
WRITE to the install media (assuming your ISO was checked after download
& computed valid).

For releases up to (but not including) 20.04, see

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck

where "Check Disc for Defects" will validate your install media (be it
cd/dvd/hdd/ssd/thumb-drive/flash-card) and not where you are installing
to.

You can check `dmesg` to look for squashfs errors (in a terminal if
you're using 'live' installer), or in filed bug reports, where the
device where the squashfs errors occurred will be your install media if
you've been sent to this report. It maybe a faulty ISO, bad write to
install media (what my link/CDIntegrityCheck will validate),
failing/faulty device, or combination.

2020-05-27 Thread Kristoffer Grundström
I downloaded and checked the iso once again and it was deemed OK.
Still this issue appears only with this version of Ubuntu back to 16.04.

16.04 works just fine.

If the USB stick works otherwise just fine to install either Windows
and/or Mageia there has to be something wrong with the installer
ubiquity.

[Bug 1881036] Re: libc6.i386

2020-05-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1881036/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1881016] Re: package icinga2-ido-mysql 2.11.2-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado paquete icinga2-ido-mysql script post-installation devolvió el código de salida de error

2020-05-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
the application being used for the package installation process.
Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state
and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating
this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service
apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package
again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this
one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out!

inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1881044] [NEW] wrong wayland dmabuf format selection with Intel iris

2020-05-27 Thread Christian Rauch
Public bug reported:

On Mesa 20.0.4, the Intel Iris driver is affected by an issue with
selecting the appropriate dma buffer format on Wayland
(https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/4869).

This issue will prevent using most OpenGL applications on Wayland. You
can check if you are affected by this issue by running
`es2gears_wayland`. On affected systems, this will fail with `error 7:
failed to import supplied dmabufs: Unsupported buffer format 808669784`.

This issue has been fixed in Mesa 20.0.7. Please consider backporting
this version to Ubuntu 20.04 and 18.04.5.
