[Bug 1892807] Re: Error updating 8/24/2020 package libffi8ubuntu1 (possibly renamed from libffi8.1.0)
Fair enough, but it literally says right above the check box. Use proposed updates if you're willing to report bugs on any problems that occur. So something is wrong at least in terms of when you do move it into the main repo. But you also might want to remove that text if you don't want people to use it and report bugs. :x -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892807 Title: Error updating 8/24/2020 package libffi8ubuntu1 (possibly renamed from libffi8.1.0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libffi/+bug/1892807/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1892422] Re: Pci passthrough interface not showing up in Ubuntu 20.04 but does show in 18.04
Hi Neil, thanks for the report. I haven't seen/heard about this particular issue yet, maybe it is related to the specific intel model and/or firmware version - so if you could derive that from the host and let us know that might be helpful (if someone can find a similar model to cross verify then). That applies to both cases below. It is not entirely clear from your report if: A) you have kept the host the same (if so please report what you used) and only switched the guest. B) you have used the same host in both cases and ONLY switched the guest between 18.04/20.04 ? Since your kernel versions have the -kvm suffix (A) is more likely, but let me guide you to the next steps for both. ** Also affects: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892422 Title: Pci passthrough interface not showing up in Ubuntu 20.04 but does show in 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1892422/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1892422] Re: Pci passthrough interface not showing up in Ubuntu 20.04 but does show in 18.04
--- A - Host stayed, Guest changed --- If that is the case then we can mostly ignore the Host. Never the less knowing the details what is used in the host is helpful. As mentioned per your uname I assume you have `linux-kvm` used in the guest. That is meant as a reduced kernel for virtual environments. Chances now are high that: 1. the required intel module is no more built for this -kvm kernel 2. the required intel module is built but moved from the base to the extra modules In general please check (and report here) on both guests - lsmod (will show us if a module is missing on the guest without net) - lspci -v (will show us which driver is used - if any - on the passed through intel card. After we have above data, please try to install the kernel that isn't reduced. Should be: $ apt install linux-image-generic $ apt remove linux-image-kvm $ reboot Did the situation now resolve? Does the listing of lsmod and lspci now report an additional driver loaded compared to before? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892422 Title: Pci passthrough interface not showing up in Ubuntu 20.04 but does show in 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1892422/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- B - Host changed, Guest stayed --- In this case I think the biggest moving pieces are: 1. Host Kernel 2. Host qemu 3. Host libvirt (to a much smaller extend) We can do some A/B tests to sort things out. #1 install linux-generic-hwe-18.04 which will bring a 5.4 kernel to Bionic #2,#3 install new qemu/libvirt in Bionic via `sudo add-apt-repository cloud-archive:ussuri` That should end up in a matrix like kernel-old kernel-new qemu-old ? ? qemu-new ? ? [Bug 1832859]
Based on the report here, this affects only setups with custom services/systemd units. Also, the blk-availability/blkdeactivate has been in RHEL7 since 7.0 and this seems to be the only report we have received so far (therefore, I don't expect much users to be affected by this issue). Also, I think it's less risk adding the extra dependency as already described here https://access.redhat.com/solutions/4154611 than splitting the blk-availability / blkdeactivate into (at least) two parts running at different times. Also, if we did this, we'd need to introduce a new synchronization point (like a systemd target) that other services would need to depend on (and so it would require much more changes in various other components which involves risks). In future, we'll try to cover this shutdown scenario in a more proper way with new Storage Instantiation Daemon (SID). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1832859 Title: during shutdown libvirt-guests gets stopped after file system unmount To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lvm2/+bug/1832859/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1884583] Re: vim is dependent on libcanberra0 in Ubuntu 20.04, had no such dependency in Ubuntu 18.04
Upstream says they will not remove the sound library and its indirect freedesktop theme (35 sound files) dependencies because it's not a big deal, and it's not X so technically it's still 'nox'. I don't think this is sane for a package installed on many servers to start bringing in desktop requirements, but the maintainer is firm. I'm hoping Ubuntu will consider overriding Debian and adding --disable- canberra to their vim-nox build. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884583 Title: vim is dependent on libcanberra0 in Ubuntu 20.04, had no such dependency in Ubuntu 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vim/+bug/1884583/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1867815] Re: Add vid:pid of TP-Link Archer T4Uv2
My T4UH (rtl8812au) and a dlink DWA-182 (reported as rtl8812au) do not work with this driver. The T4UH worked under kernel 3 (and possibly 4 ?) but is now not working. It is recognized but no wlan interface is created. This occurs on two different computers, both running Ubuntu 20.04.1 kernel 5.4.0-42-generic. Other drivers for this device (which worked previously) appear to build correctly but now do not work with kernel version 5 (same problem as above). Do you know of a 5.x kernel under which this module will load correctly? Is there anything I can do to get this working under kernel 5.x? Thank you. Actually, just choosing to resurrect the screen window will restart the upgrade process which then will warn you about an upgrade not succeeding and then if you exit that sources.list.distUpgrade will be restored. [Bug 1892798] [NEW] eliminating resolvconf/openresolv dependencies
Public bug reported: By default Ubuntu now uses systemd to manage the nameservers in resolv.conf, so resolvconf and openresolv seem to be redundant. However, it appears that systemd's resolvectl is compatable with resolvconf style commands if symlinked as resolvconf. I'm not really sure how deb packaging works, but if it possible to check for the resolvconf command, and if not found just symlink /usr/bin/resolvectl to /usr/sbin/resolvconf then wg-quick will work without additional packages. See https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/focal/man1/resolvectl.1#compatibility%20with%20resolvconf(8) for more info. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. [Bug 1892788] [NEW] launches yagv when opening FOLDER
Public bug reported: Critical bug. file-roller will make the system user interface sieze up and cause you to lose work. - Ubuntu 18.04 - install firefox and yagv - In firefox, download and select open with archive manager https://www.chepclub.com/uploads/9/2/9/8/9298268/chepbedlevel_3.0.zip - In file roller, click on the folder ChepBedLevel2.0 - It will not browse the folder - Double click on the folder. - Instead of browsing the folder, It will launch yagv on the g-code files. It might also launch the text editor (gedit?) on the STL file. - the system doesn't hang every time but it does occur multiple times. - ssh in remotely and killall file-roller to get control of your machine back. file-roller is very unresponsive, even with the machine working ok. Same thing happens with a 3D model with no g-code downloaded from thingiverse containing no g-code. www.thingiverse.com/thing:2867275 In this case, it tries to open the huge STL file with a text editor. In this case, I noticed that trying to type in a terminal window caused the text editor search box to appear. The hangs might be occuring in gedit and/or yagv (never seen that before) but gedit was launched without consent. This seems to be exciting an existing bug in the system. It not uncommon for certain programs dialog boxes to sieze control of the the mouse pointer and make the machine unusable. I had more trouble than usual recovering, however. Ctrl-Alt-Del and cancel did not work and switching consoles didn't work. [Bug 1851518] Re: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones
@gannon1 I am tracking what your saying concept wise. Here is a summary of what I did today, in part just to help me clarify my thoughts and in part so you can maybe correct any gaps and save me troubleshooting time :). - I have gone through all the documents in the wiki for QemuHDADump and as far as I can tell it is running as expected on my PC and creating good logs. I am able to see the logging happening in real-time and I get the frame binary files. I am also able to use his extract and format programs to "see" the data as text. As an example, the attached file named CORB has the final formatted output from disabling and re- enabling the realtek device in windows - Looking at the HDA spec, this seems to be the only detailed description of the CORB entries : HDA Spec CORB 32 bit format The controller generated (outbound) Verb format Bits 31:28 Codec Address Bits 27:20 Node ID Bits 19:0 Verb Payload It is not currently clear to me how to parse the "verb payload" or how to map these CORB values into anything useful. - Several of the documents you listed and your comments mention playing back or using the values to turn on the sound. I assume (maybe incorrectly), that we are trying to a) produce a list of HDA Verb commands that match each CORB entry to prove the sound turns on and then B) work to whittle down the list to the minimum required ones. Part B will be effort, but I think that will just be applied time once we achieve Part A. For Part A, again my assumption, we are trying to convert CORB values into the HDA Verb format : HDA Verb format The hwdep device name The widget NID The verb The parameter - Since I was stuck on what to do with the output from QemuHDADump, I went back and read the other articles more, specifically the BSD article. That author took a different approach and instead of using the QemuHDADump program, he just altered Qemu to give him more info in the output. His source code was available so I worked with that to try and replicate his results. I couldn't just use his common.c file directly because we are on different version of qemu, but I was able to modify the common.c file on my version of qemu, and then remake qemu successfully. So now, instead of just getting lines like this : 15469@1598294292.270884:vfio_region_write (:00:1f.3:region0+0x48, 0xad, 2) 15469@1598294292.270975:vfio_region_write (:00:1f.3:region0+0x20, 0x4000, 4) 15469@1598294292.270983:vfio_region_write (:00:1f.3:region0+0x5d, 0x1, 1) I get more information, like this : 15469@1598294292.272359:vfio_region_write (:00:1f.3:region0+0x5d, 0x1, 1) RIRBWP advance to 185, last WP 183 CORB caddr:0x9 nid:0x47 control:0x407 param:0x20 response:0x64756c63 (ex 0x6f466465) CORB caddr:0x0 nid:0x0 control:0x1 param:0xe6 response:0x65735572 (ex 0x544e4900) RIRBWP advance to 185, last WP 185 RIRBWP advance to 185, last WP 185 RIRBWP advance to 185, last WP 185 15469@1598294292.272436:vfio_region_write (:00:1f.3:region0+0x20, 0xc000, 4) CORBWP advance to 187, last WP 185 CORB[186] = 0x0 (caddr:0x0 nid:0x0 control:0x0 param:0x0) CORB[187] = 0x0 (caddr:0x0 nid:0x0 control:0x0 param:0x0) 15469@1598294292.272522:vfio_region_write (:00:1f.3:region0+0x48, 0xbb, 2) I think the most useful parts here are the CORB[] lines (for example) : CORB[218] = 0x9cac8480 (caddr:0x9 nid:0x4a control:0xc84 param:0x80) This would at least seem like it could be mapped to an HDA verbs, maybe like so sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x4a 0xc84 0x80 - So with that change, I then recorded all the traffic during a re- enable of the realtek devices in windows (I will attach files named Enable and Disable). I then wrote a script to pull out the CORB[x] lines from the log and to produce a new script with all the mapped HDA Verbs. This generated 2034 HDA Verb commands (just on the re-enable of the windows realtek device... yikes... ) - Anyway, I ran the script of 2034 HDA Verb commands on my PC. No errors, but unfortunately no sounds came out of the speakers. Very likely I just mapped the values to my HDA verbs incorrectly, I am just guessing on how to do that, or possibly the specific action we need does not happen on a re-enable. Anyway, thoughts? Do you have any more clarity on how to replay the CORB commands? I can try this all again with a suspend and resume, but suspect that will be a lot of CORB values ** Attachment added: "CORB" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1851518/+attachment/5404231/+files/CORB -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851518 Title: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones To manage notifications about this bug go to:
[Bug 1891842] Re: ruby-bunny: FTBFS due to faulty testcase
This bug was fixed in the package ruby-bunny - 2.14.4-4 --- ruby-bunny (2.14.4-4) unstable; urgency=medium * Team upload. [ Lucas Kanashiro ] * d/ruby-tests.rake: add a reminder to revisit the blacklisted spec file * d/control: update the Homepage url, the former does not work [ Sergio Durigan Junior ] * Adjust test infrastructure to use a customized rabbitmq-server. In order to perform our tests, we have to install the rabbitmq-server package. This means that when we build the package outside a chroot, the systemd service of rabbitmq-server is started automatically. This is expected behaviour, but it conflicts with what the setup step of our tests does: it tries to start its own instance of rabbitmq-server using a customized configuration file. In order to overcome this problem, it is possible to start another instance of rabbitmq-server listening at a different port. This is what this commit does, which ultimately fixes a FTBFS that happens when building ruby-bunny outside a chroot. Unfortunately, the solution here is a bit hacky and prone to failures, but it works reasonably well enough that I think it's safe to adopt it into package. - d/ruby-tests.rake: Use Socket.gethostname to compose the pidfile name. - d/rules: On override_dh_auto_install, adjust the local rabbitmq.conf file and instruct it to listen on localhost:16688; adjust several environment variables needed to properly start rabbitmq-server and ruby-bunny at the customized port; adjust the tests inside spec/ and make sure they explicitly connect to the rabbitmq-server instance running on the customized port. [Bug 1890611] Re: Client cannot connect to remote mysql-server when the latter is configured with ssl parameters using a public CA
Hi Jean-Christophe, Sorry for this back and forth, I tried again to reproduce what you mentioned but with a self-signed CA (like Rafael did in the first comment) and it worked like a charm. Before you saying this is not the same scenario you are facing, as far as I can see you are reporting a problem when setting the ssl parameters (if the logs are saying "CA certificate ca.pem is self signed" is because it is likely not reading the files from your Let's Encrypt directory). In this case it does not matter if it's a private or public CA. If you can confirm it is reading your Let's Encrypt files and it is reporting that the certificate is self signed share the logs and config files here and it will likely be an upstream issue. You might be tired of us asking for reproduction steps but there is no way around that, we can't reproduce your problem. Try to add as much details as you can, for instance, create a new container/VM of Ubutu Focal/Groovy, install mysql-server, run command X, edit these files adding these content, restart mysql service and so on.
