[Bug 1804329] Re: lubuntu 19.04 daily - pcmanfm-qt (dolphin..) moves window position on opening device, folders or adjust size of windows (when on 2nd display only with vertical placement)

2021-02-24 Thread Chris Guiver
I tested for this today on
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

using Lubuntu hirsute daily (LXQt 0.16) and was UNABLE TO RE-CREATE IT.

If this issue still occurs on focal, it doesn't on hirsute I believe.
(iso.qa.ubuntu.com reports only show up to focal)

2021-02-24 Thread Chris Guiver
I've attempted to re-create this (again) today using Lubuntu hirsute daily
(LXQt 0.16) on
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

I was UNABLE TO RE-CREATE (again) on hirsute.

If it's still an issue, it appears to be in focal/20.04 only.

[Bug 1814490] Re: lubuntu 19.04/19.10 xscreensaver runs on single display, other display continues normally

2021-02-24 Thread Chris Guiver
I've attempted to re-create this 3 times in last few days and failed to
RE-CREATE this bug using
lubuntu hirsute dailies using LXQt 0.16 (not all today)

boxes tested include
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)
- dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400
pro/xt)

and I think it was
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

(the bug wouldn't always occurred, it depended on how the
monitor.settings were put together when I adjust to match my setup (with
keep.monitors.attached ticked I believe))

[Bug 1809201] Re: lubuntu 19.04/19.10 two displays, programs maximized uses only part of 2nd display

2021-02-24 Thread Chris Guiver
I tested for this today using Lubuntu hirsute daily.

I could NOT re-create it on
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

I couldn't always re-create it anyway; it only occurs with certain
screen positions, and it seems to be luck if depending on how the
screens 'snapped' together..

Either way it's not been reported on groovy or hirsute that I can see,
so if it is still an issue, it's in focal only I'd say it's safe to
assume given quick scan of prior comments.

[Bug 1810075] Re: lxqt-panel: menu-button opens in wrong position (on portrait display, normal on landscape..)

2021-02-24 Thread Chris Guiver
I just re-created this on
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)
using Lubuntu hirsute daily (live QA-test).

To achieve it I have
- two monitors (DVI-I-1 & DP-1 listed in Monitor.Settings)
- Monitor.Settings, my DP-1 is left, DVI-I-1 is right
- right monitor or my DVI-I-1 which is rotated portrait-left.

panels on both monitors, the portrait-left monitor (DVI-I-1) menu
appears in the middle of the screen

[Bug 1916830] [NEW] Crashes and memory leaks after reloading knockd

2021-02-24 Thread Dima Krasner
Public bug reported:

knockd leaks memory and segfaults after systemd reload knockd (or
killall -HUP knockd) due to use-after-free. Checked on bionic, but this
is very likely affect other versions as well because git blame tells
these bugs are years old.

Fixes are merged to master now - see
https://github.com/jvinet/knock/pull/74.

This bug needs more exploration & likely filing upstream.

[Bug 1615286] Re: xfce - screen turns black after power off/power on

2021-02-24 Thread Ben Fenner
I've just started experiencing this bug.
I'm on Linux Mint 20.1 and anything that turns the monitor off now (something I
have been doing often for months with power saving and manually turning it off
myself) will cause the monitor to never get video signal from the video card
again until a reboot is performed.

[Bug 1912844] Re: Bond with OVS bridging RuntimeError: duplicate mac found!

2021-02-24 Thread Frode Nordahl
Hello Dan,

> It looks to me like these two statements are in opposition: if OVS is
> managing an interface via a different datapath, then it won't have
> ID_NET_DRIVER=openvswitch in its `udevadm info`.
>
> If this is the case, then I think we have a couple of options.

That is correct, I remembered the other datapath types after suggesting
the driver approach.

> Firstly, we could scope this down to only handle system datapath
interfaces, so that it _is_ true that all the interfaces we're handling
are owned by the openvswitch. I don't know enough about how OVS is used
(either by us or more generally) to know if this is a reasonable
suggestion, so your guidance would be appreciated.

For the specific use case we're testing with right now it would be safe
to assume the system datapath, however our product does also support the
use of DPDK acceleration which is hinged on the netdev datapath. So I'm
afraid leaving that out of scope might come back and bite us before we
know it. But I guess it would be reasonable to split the work up in bite
sized chunks as long as we allow for supporting this in the design.

> If we can't do that, then I think we need to ask OVS directly,
presumably via `ovs-vsctl show` as discussed above. This would require
it to be in PATH, of course; avoiding that is a nice-to-have at best, so
I think that's fine.

Yes, we would be able to find the interface in the runtime state through
`ovs-vsctl` and friends. The `show` sub-command is mostly meant for
human readable overview of configuration, so we will probably dive to
the depths of the interface and port tables.

Many of the sub-commands support JSON output format, for example:
`ovs-vsctl -f json find interface name=testport`
`ovs-vsctl -f json find port name=testport`

[Bug 1916823] [NEW] Touchpad / keyboard don't work (randomly) after reboot on HP systems

2021-02-24 Thread jeremyszu
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

On some HP laptops (e.g. HP ZBook Fury 15/17 G7, HP EliteBook 850 G7, HP
ENVY x360 Convertible 15-cp0xxx), the touchpad / keyboard will probably
be disabled after reboot because the hp-wmi reports the system is a
tablet system but it's not a tablet system.

After libinput received "SW_TABLET_MODE", then it will disable the
keyboard and touchpad.

[Test case]

Test 200 times reboot with:
1. 5.10.0-1013-oem kernel:
 - the SW_TABLET_MODE was detected at 72 round and the keyboard / touchpad not
work.
2. 5.10.0-1013-oem kernel + 67fbe02a5cebc3c653610f12e3c0424e58450153:
 - the SW_TABLET_MODE is not be detected within 200 times reboot.

[Fix]

Cherry-pick commit 67fbe02a5cebc3c653610f12e3c0424e58450153.
It turns the tablet mode detection to off as default and could be enabled by
module parameter "enable_tablet_mode_sw".

[Regression potential]

It will break tablet detection on all HP laptops but user can enable it back by
adding module parameter.
If without this patch then a lot of HP new laptops (with newer HP BIOS) will
get the keyboard/touchpad not work after reboot.

I confirm this issue, too. I have a disk mounted automatically via

After this, the dock loads very slowly. After I remove the entry from

[Bug 1911036] Re: GDK/GTK app crash when performing drag operation

2021-02-24 Thread XXX
I tried that as I mentioned above. It doesn't crash in that scenario.
I can ssh in from another computer and run thunar but I can't reproduce
the crash this way. This is why I think it might have to do with the
X11 server or lightdm.

I can see if I can mess with xauth to run via ssh and keep it displaying
on the "broken" computer...

[Bug 1916715] Re: fails on install due to systemd-service/sysv-service mismatch and lack of mkdir

2021-02-24 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
This is strange, indeed. The MP for the merge is:

https://code.launchpad.net/~sergiodj/ubuntu/+source/python-rtslib-
fb/+git/python-rtslib-fb/+merge/397174

As you can read there, I did check if the package installed/uninstalled
correctly. Bryce also double-checked it. I don't know if the problem
is that we forgot to check if the systemd service file was up or not, or
something else. But then again, the error you posted happens right at
the installation step, so we would have caught that. I'm puzzled, and I
apologize for not having seen this before. Thanks for taking care of
this issue.

[Bug 1911036] Re: GDK/GTK app crash when performing drag operation

2021-02-24 Thread XXX
Hi Daniel,

I never removed GDK_SYNCHRONIZE from /etc/environment. It's been set
that way for a few reboots. In addition, I confirmed it was set to 1
before running gdb.

I'm wondering if you're not getting as much as you'd expect from the
backtrace because I had to kill the thunar process. When thunar crashed
within gdb, the mouse was stuck unfocused, meaning I couldn't focus on
any window to type. I was only able to recover focus by killing the
thunar process (not gdb) via a remote shell from another computer, after
which I was able to run bt. Do you know of a way to automatically run
bt in gdb if the process crashes?

[Bug 1916313] Re: memory allocate issue of windows vm

2021-02-24 Thread HYSong
Hi Christian, I have tested this problem recently and found that the
windows VM memory usage in the new compute node will turn to actual
value if I execute `VM live migrate` between two compute node which is
created by openstack or virshinstall.

I guess it is a problem with qemu memory allocate.
Could you please boot a windows VM and migrate it to test is issue?

In addition, If I boot a windows VM with 16G memory and migrate it, the
actual memory usage is decrease to 1.3G in new compute node, it sounds
like a good news, but the actual memory usage will up to 8G in compute
node if I execute `virsh qemu-monitor-command instance-000112f4 --hmp
"balloon 8192"` instead of the actual usage, I'm really confused about
it.

[Bug 1916765] Re: Xorg memory leak

2021-02-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. Since app windows' resources are all stored
in the Xorg process I think this is most likely the result of an X11
resource leak in some application. To find out which one please test
with no apps, and then with a smaller set of apps. You should be able to
identify which application is triggering the leak.

[Bug 1909747] Re: Night Light not working

2021-02-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Night light depends on a feature called a "gamma ramp". That feature is
not supported without at least a proper KMS graphics driver. That should
be available for Raspberry Pi 4 in kernel versions 5.10.7 onward, in
theory.

[Bug 1913453] Re: gnome-shell freeze

2021-02-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
More ideas:

1. Please check ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/ and ensure there is no
subdirectory named 'extensions'. If there is one then remove it.

2. Your system logs seem to show you're using sleeping to work around
the original problem, as mentioned in the bug description at the top of
the page. Please reboot and then reproduce the bug without ever sleeping
the system. Then once the lag and freezing starts happening, reboot
again and run:

  journalctl -b-1 > cleanprevboot.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

3. If you can then please also answer the question from comment #2 -
While the problem is happening, does 'top' show any process using high
CPU?
