[Bug 1971933] Re: [Regression] Unable to wake laptop using trackpad input

2022-05-26 Thread Aaron Rainbolt
Sadly, I have to correct myself - I thought I had replicated the issue,
but it turns out my particular laptop doesn't use USB to attach the
mousepad. I tried plugging a USB mouse into my system while running a
"bad" kernel, and it was able to wake from suspend when I moved the
mouse. Also, it appears my system is using s2idle. So sadly, I cannot
reproduce the bug on my hardware after all.

What I can do is leave a hint for the next person who goes to bisect the
kernel. Due to a change in initrd compression, if you try to install a
kernel that's too old onto Ubuntu Jammy or Kinetic, it won't be able to
boot since it won't be able to mount the initrd image. To fix this, do
"sudo nano /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf", and change the
"COMPRESS" option to "gzip" (it will probably be set to "zstd" by
default). That should get your older kernels booting, so you can
actually have a fighting chance at bisecting the kernel.

Sorry I couldn't do it myself on my hardware.

[Bug 1943587] Re: [Ethtool][TSN] Support frame preemption

2022-05-26 Thread Doug Jacobs
Not an Aaeon issue. This board has 2 separate Ethernet chips - one
supports TSN, one does not.

TSN tests will have to properly detect all interfaces that support TSN
so they can be tested separately.

[Bug 1975893] [NEW] add option to automatically restart docker during apt upgrade

[Bug 1975892] [NEW] Ubuntu's symfony 5.4 is not compatible with php < 8

2022-05-26 Thread Athos Ribeiro
Public bug reported:

As it is being discussed in
https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/issues/17523,
the symfony package is patched to support newer PSR versions than the ones
available in Debian (and than the ones ussported by symfony 5.x).

This results in non_php_<_8_compatible return types being added to some
symfony packages. When these are invoked with php 7.4, it results in
errors being raised, which is the case for trying to run phpmyadmin with
a php7.4 runtime.

Possible solutions include bumping the minimum php requirement for those
packages (and possibly update documentations where needed) or re-
assessing the patches for PSR compatibility.

[Bug 1975884] Re: Temporary screen freeze on gnome screen lock (wayland, ubuntu 22.04 jammy)

2022-05-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. I can see from the attached files that you
have a lot of unsupported extensions enabled and at least some of them
are buggy according to the log messages.

The first thing to try is always to REMOVE ALL unsupported extensions
and then log in again. Please run:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell
  rm -rf extensions
  gsettings set org.gnome.shell enabled-extensions "[]"
  gsettings set org.gnome.shell disabled-extensions "[]"

and then log in again.

If the freeze persists after that then next time it happens please:

  1. Wait 10 seconds.

  2. Reboot.

  3. Run:  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

  4. Attach the resulting text file here.

[Bug 1964763] Re: QtChooser doesn't support qt6

2022-05-26 Thread Thomas Ward
If Qt6 is dead upstream, then it's probably a candidate for removal as
soon as Qt5 is retired.

Note that because Debian has refused to even add Qt6 because QtChooser
is dead upstream by design, and I'm gathering as such should not be used
with Qt6, I opened a Debian bug suggesting that they mark the package as
"Breaks:" for all Qt6 libraries.

[Bug 1975890] [NEW] mp4 video gets stuck in a frame, like it's paused

2022-05-26 Thread Douglas Silva
Public bug reported:

The video stops playing at a certain random frame, like it's been

and the frame will change as expected, but toggling play/pause does
nothing.

Thanks for the detailed info. From that moment on I can see the system
resuming including Xorg waking up but no errors are logged at all.

Are you able to ssh into the frozen machine from another machine? I
would like to know what 'ps auxw' reports at that point.

Also if the mouse cursor is frozen then the bug is lower level than
gnome-shell so this is either in Xorg, the Nvidia Xorg driver, or the
kernel.

[Bug 1973618] Re: can no longer open new windows after some time

2022-05-26 Thread Thomas M Steenholdt
I haven't been able to find other actual bugs/issues describing this
issue, but there are threads on reddit and such that seem to indicate
that this is a wayland/gnome42 issue, and that it affects all
distributions.

[Bug 1975884] Re: Temporary screen freeze on gnome screen lock (wayland, ubuntu 22.04 jammy)

2022-05-26 Thread Vivek Gani
** Description changed:

  As first mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
  shell/+bug/1769981/comments/25 , I've been observing an issue when
  unlocking my computer (usually from a screen lock state, not
  hibernation/sleep) where after entering the first few characters of my
  password the screen freezes for 10-20 seconds before I can do any type
  of input (mouse, touch, keyboard).

  I've largely been noticing this since upgrading from Ubuntu 21.10 to
  22.04. It doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to file an issue
  for.

  So far I've tried:
  - Disabling the 'blur my shell' extension - still encountered the issue again
eventually.
  - Looking for anything associated with this in /var/crash - couldn't find
anything.
  - Looking for anything associated at errors.ubuntu.com for my id.
+
+ What I may eventually try:
+ - Seeing if this may depend on having too many browser tabs / apps open.
Currently not in a position to do this.

[Bug 1975875] Re: libgail-3-0 install blocked by "=" dependency

2022-05-26 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1975875/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2022-05-26 Thread Matthew Ruffell
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1967843 ***

This is probably fixed in clutter-gst-3.0 3.0.27-2ubuntu1 that we
released a couple days ago. Run "sudo apt update" and "sudo apt upgrade"
and it will pull in the fixed package.

Marking as a duplicate of bug 1967843 for the moment.

[Bug 1970672] Re: makedumpfile falls back to cp with "__vtop4_x86_64: Can't get a valid pmd_pte."

2022-05-26 Thread dann frazier
Yeah, I don't think an autopkgtest is a requirement. Having the test
live within the package itself would make it more accessible, and
autopkgtest was my first thought as to how to do that. But I don't see a
"disable by default" flag, and I agree that huge downloads on every test
run could be a problem. It would still be nice IMO if the test was
integrated into the package though, even if it needs to run manually.

[Bug 1975880] [NEW] service restart fails due to TIMED_WAIT and lack of SO_REUSEADDR

$ service mosquitto restart
$ telnet localhost 1883
Trying 127.0.0.1...

[ First problem here: the service has not restarted. The log says
"Address in use"]

$ service mosquitto start
$ telnet localhost 1883
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

[ Second problem, service start doesn't do anything (because it thinks
it already restarted the service, even though there is no pid file?).
There is no new "Address in use" log message]

$ sleep 120
$ service mosquitto start
$ telnet localhost 1883
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

[ Third problem, even after the TIMED_WAIT the service does not always
restart ]

$ service mosquitto restart
$ telnet localhost 1883
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
...

[ Stopping and restarting the service does work, but only after the
TIMED_WAIT interval ]

systemd seems to be confused into thinking that it doesn't need to start
the server, even though the previous attempt to start it failed.

Using "service stop" then start, or "service restart" gets it out of
this confusion, even though there was no service to stop.

When the service exits, the port is left in the TIMED_WAIT state for the 2
minute timeout.
An attempt to restart it fails, because the new socket doesn't use setsockopt
with SO_REUSEADDR and so the port cannot yet be bound again to a new socket.

A google search says SO_REUSEADDR was removed in 2013 "because it worked
differently under Windows".

I don't know if it would have helped, but it appears that mosquitto is
using an /etc/init.d/mosquitto file, and not a .system file under
/etc/systemd/system/

This means it was not built with the configuration WITH_SYSTEMD, contrary to
the advice here:

[Bug 1970808] Re: [nvidia] Lock screen is frozen

2022-05-26 Thread Sam Magura
Here's the prevboot.txt file you requested. Line 20160, timestamp May 26
19:02:39, is when I pressed the power button to resume from suspend.

I followed the steps from here
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment),
but none of the crashes appear to be related to this issue. Here's a
screenshot: https://ibb.co/m6zxhhx. Notice the latest crash is from May
21 (in my time zone), so 5 days ago.

[Bug 1970672] Re: makedumpfile falls back to cp with "__vtop4_x86_64: Can't get a valid pmd_pte."

2022-05-26 Thread Kellen Renshaw
During a discussion about the potential for autopkgtests it was brought
up that a representative sample of unfiltered vmcores would be large
(even compressed). This would impose bandwidth and disk space
constraints on anyone attempting to run the autopkgtests locally.

That tends to make me lean toward setting up a library of cores with
test infrastructure somewhere that is run as part of the SRU exception
process, but not as an autopkgtest.

[Bug 1961476] Re: The laptop turns off only through the button and won't wake up from sleep (black screen)

2022-05-26 Thread Rosso
** Description changed:

  A complete shutdown of the laptop occurs only with the help of the shutdown
button. If this is not done, then the keyboard backlight and fans work, and the
screen itself is turned off. And also the sleep mode does not work (black
screen and no reaction), you have to turn it off with a button to get out of
it. The problem has been observed since ubuntu version 20.04 and the BIOS
update. These problems are not observed in Windows OS. The video card is no
longer displayed as nvidia in both operating systems, now it is displayed only
asMesa Intel® UHD Graphics 630 (CFL GT2).
  I didn't reboot myself before, apparently the kernel was fixed. Thanks to the
developers, that now he at least reboots himself. It remains to solve the issue
with the shutdown.

[Bug 1975632] Re: [SRU] Yoga stable releases

2022-05-26 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Corey, or anyone else affected,

Accepted neutron into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/neutron/2:20.1.0-0ubuntu1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Changed in: neutron (Ubuntu Jammy)
   Status: Triaged => Fix Committed

[Bug 1964763] Re: QtChooser doesn't support qt6

2022-05-26 Thread Andrew Hayzen
I was going to request this change into Debian as well, but appears that
has already been attempted and was rejected due to "qtchooser is dead
upstream". https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-
team/qt/qtchooser/-/merge_requests/2

I wonder if the situation can be improved though as if you are trying to
use Qt 6 tooling in a container image then you need workarounds :-/

[Bug 1975594] Re: OVN backports for Neutron Ussuri

2022-05-26 Thread Corey Bryant
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  The upstream Neutron stable/ussuri branch is in extended-maintenance mode
which means patches are still accepted but they aren't cutting any new stable
releases. Therefore this bug is being opened to backport a series of OVN
patches that are needed for functionality on Ussuri (Focal).
+
+ Specifically the following bugs require fixes:
+ LP#1914394
+ LP#1946588
+ LP#1951872
+ LP#1961013
+ LP#1965819
+ LP#1927077
+ LP#1953295
+ LP#1928031
+ LP#1952550

  [Test Case]
  The following SRU process was followed:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenStack/StableReleaseUpdates

  In order to avoid regression of existing consumers, the OpenStack team
  will run their continuous integration test against the packages that are
  in -proposed. A successful run of all available tests will be required
  before the proposed packages can be let into -updates.

  The OpenStack team will be in charge of attaching the output summary of
  the executed tests. The OpenStack team members will not mark
  ‘verification-done’ until this has happened.

  [Regression Potential]
  In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the
  aforementioned tests are attached to this bug.

[Bug 1975875] [NEW] libgail-3-0 install blocked by "=" dependency

2022-05-26 Thread Not applicable
Public bug reported:

The libgtk dependency in libgail-3-0 is set to = *not* >= 3.24.18.

Since libgtk has moved on to 3.24.20 the install of libgail is now

[Bug 1975873] [NEW] gtk-vnc -dev packages have missing dependencies

2022-05-26 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Impact
--
The gtk-vnc -dev packages have missing dependencies in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The
newer version has additional dependencies in its pkgconfig file. This makes
packages like gnome-boxes and gnome-connections fail to build from source in
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Test Case
-
Use a clean minimal Ubuntu 22.04 LTS build environment to rebuild the Ubuntu
gnome-boxes and gnome-connections packages. Both builds should complete
successfully.

What Could Go Wrong
---
This update only adds dependencies to the -dev packages.

[Bug 1975872] [NEW] Screen flickering on external monitor (laptop)

2022-05-26 Thread Andrii Beznosiuk
Public bug reported:

External screen flickers on and off (image is present and then signal is lost,
flickering is random, but very often, ~3 times in 10 seconds) on a fresh
installation.
Details:
- I'm using a laptop (ASUS GL552VW) with external monitor connected via HDMI.
The HDMI port is connected to my iGPU, Intel HD 530 (there is no way to make
that HDMI work with NVIDIA GTX 960M in my laptop).
- Nothing was installed after installing the OS - i connected to the Internet
while installing the system and marked the option to download the updates.
- I had that issue on Windows 10 - I fixed it by installing a latest Intel GPU
driver from laptop manufacturer's (ASUS) site, uninstalling drivers installed
by Windows - they were the latest Intel drivers.
- Internal screen works fine.
- If I mirror external and internal monitor, external isn't flickering, but
internal monitor's resolution is lower that external's one.

[Bug 1969939] Re: puppet 5 package incompatible with ruby 3 / ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-26 Thread Mat Malone
My test is also unnecessarily complex -- there's no needs for the class
+ include:

file { '/tmp/issue':
ensure => file,
source => '/etc/issue',
}

[Bug 1969939] Re: puppet 5 package incompatible with ruby 3 / ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-26 Thread Mat Malone
Hi Lucas, the new to_sym error seems to be related to use of the File
resource with `ensure => file` instead of link. Unless there's another
change introduced in 5.5.22-4ubuntu0.1, it seems like it has to be
caused by your patch.

Here's my test scenario that you should be able to use to reproduce:

issue.pp:

```
class issue
{
file { '/tmp/issue':
ensure => file,
source => '/etc/issue',
}
}
include issue
```

# Using puppet (5.5.22-4):

% puppet apply issue.pp
Notice: Compiled catalog for dev-vagrant22 in environment production in 0.01
seconds
Notice: /Stage[main]/Issue/File[/tmp/issue]/ensure: defined content as
'{md5}d5faf84af6529c6e6a364f164e953ff6'
Notice: Applied catalog in 0.01 seconds

# Using puppet (5.5.22-4ubuntu0.1):

% puppet apply issue.pp
Notice: Compiled catalog for dev-vagrant22 in environment production in 0.01
seconds
Error: /Stage[main]/Issue/File[/tmp/issue]: Could not evaluate: Could not
retrieve file metadata for file:///etc/issue: undefined method `to_sym' for
nil:NilClass
Notice: Applied catalog in 0.01 seconds

Thanks for your help fixing this, Lucas!

[Bug 1975868] [NEW] [RM] removed in Debian testing and blocking libdigest-bcrypt-perl

2022-05-26 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
Public bug reported:

libdancer2-plugin-passphrase-perl was removed from Debian testing in
February during the Perl transition [1], and it is blocking libdigest-
bcrypt-perl migration in kinetic for more than 120 days. This package is
also blocked in Debian unstable for more than 765 days [2]. This is a
leaf package, I believe we should remove it from kinetic until it gets
in better shape.

[Bug 1975866] Re: A continue or break from a subshell inside a loop no longer works.

2022-05-26 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
This is not a bug about the Ubuntu Desktop Guide, so closing.

I would recommend you to show your observation at Ask Ubuntu. If you
then conclude that it's a bug, please report it against the bash
package.

[Bug 1964763] Re: QtChooser doesn't support qt6

2022-05-26 Thread Be
I stumbled over this setting up CI for a Qt project that supports both
Qt6 and Qt5. I confirm that creating a /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/qtchooser/qt6.conf file with the contents:

```
/usr/lib/qt6/bin
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
```

and setting the QT_SELECT environment variable to `qt6` works around the
bug.
