[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown

2021-07-08 Thread Aleksandar Puharic
We're mid 2021 and this security issue is still present.
Confirmed on Ubuntu 20.04. Also on Zorin OS 15 (Ubuntu 18.04 based).

Besides only getting medium priority, I cannot understand that this
medium priority security issue hasn't been assigned, leave alone fixed
in nearly 7 years.

[Bug 1894166] [NEW] libasan missing debug symbols break debugging

2020-09-03 Thread Aleksandar Nikolic
Public bug reported:

By default, all symbols are missing from libasan binary that is
installed with this package. This, among other things, effectively
breaks debugging with gdb (and LLDB , but that doesn't matter).

To be able to catch ASAN errors in GDB , one would break on
"__sanitizer::Die" and go from there, but without symbols, this won't
work. Other tools rely on symbol lookups to determine instrumentation
presence , which would fail in this case as well.

For example, without libasan5-dbgsym  installed:

(gdb) break __sanitizer::Die
Function "__sanitizer::Die" not defined.
Make breakpoint pending on future shared library load? (y or [n]) y
Breakpoint 1 (__sanitizer::Die) pending.
(gdb) r
...
ASAN REPORT
...
==1802381==ABORTING
[Inferior 1 (process 1802381) exited with code 01]

However, with libasan5-dbgsym installed:

(gdb) break __sanitizer::Die
Breakpoint 1 at 0x776bc200: file
../../../../src/libsanitizer/sanitizer_common/sanitizer_termination.cc, line 49.
(gdb) r
...
ASAN REPORT
...
==1805058==ABORTING

Breakpoint 1, __sanitizer::Die () at
../../../../src/libsanitizer/sanitizer_common/sanitizer_termination.cc:49
49  ../../../../src/libsanitizer/sanitizer_common/sanitizer_termination.cc:
No such file or directory.
(gdb) bt
#0  __sanitizer::Die () at
../../../../src/libsanitizer/sanitizer_common/sanitizer_termination.cc:49
#1  0x7769d8ec in __asan::ScopedInErrorReport::~ScopedInErrorReport
(this=0x7fffd156, __in_chrg=)
at ../../../../src/libsanitizer/asan/asan_report.cc:185
#2  0x7769d363 in __asan::ReportGenericError (pc=93824992236075,
bp=bp@entry=140737488346576, sp=sp@entry=140737488346560, addr=106034152603909,
is_write=is_write@entry=false, access_size=access_size@entry=1, exp=0,
fatal=true) at ../../../../src/libsanitizer/asan/asan_report.cc:192
#3  0x7769de4b in __asan::__asan_report_load1 (addr=) at
../../../../src/libsanitizer/asan/asan_rtl.cc:116
#4  0x522b in main ()
(gdb)

In this example, it's fairly obvious that missing symbols will prevent one to
put a breakpoint on __sanitizer::Die , but as I mentioned, checks in other
tools would fail silently and the issue isn't immediately traceable back to
missing symbols.

Since AddressSanitizer is primarily used for debugging anyway, would it
make sense to have libasan with symbols by default?

[Bug 1894159] [NEW] lldb API uses wrong executable filename

2020-09-03 Thread Aleksandar Nikolic
Public bug reported:

I've noticed that some of my debugging scripts that use lldb to launch
and debug processes don't work and hang indefinitely on Ubuntu Focal
with latest llvm toolchain installed.

The culprit is the fact that lldb API tries to launch a binary named
"lldb-server-10.0.0" which doesn't exist (installing lldb installs lldb-
server as a symlink to lldb-server-10 , but not lldb-server-10.0.0).

This becomes apparent when logging is enabled for the debugger:

1599167975.387668848 python   0x238adc0
Listener::StartListeningForEvents (broadcaster = 0x236c6f0, mask = 0x00020004)
acquired_mask = 0x00020004 for lldb.process.gdb-remote.async-listener
1599167975.387677193 python   successfully created process
1599167975.387685061 python   setting up hijacker
1599167975.387690544 python   0x238b500
Listener::Listener('lldb.PlatformLinux.DebugProcess.hijack')
1599167975.387698174 python   0x02369F20
Broadcaster("lldb.process")::HijackBroadcaster
(listener("lldb.PlatformLinux.DebugProcess.hijack")=0x0238B500)
1599167975.387704611 python launching process with the following file
actions:
1599167975.387755871 python   0x0236C170
Communication::Disconnect ()
1599167975.387762785 python   Process::SetPublicState (state =
launching, restarted = 0)
1599167975.387876272 python   shlib dir -> `/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/`
1599167975.387891054 python   HostInfo::ComputePathRelativeToLibrary()
attempting to derive the path /bin relative to liblldb install path:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
1599167975.387899160 python   HostInfo::ComputePathRelativeToLibrary()
derived the path as: /usr/lib/bin
1599167975.387925148 python   support exe dir -> `/usr/bin/`
1599167975.387954235 python process launch failed: unable to locate
lldb-server-10.0.0

This issue is simply resolved by making yet another symlink to lldb-server to
point to lldb-server-10.0.0 but without logging enabled, it isn't obvious where
the problem is.

This behavior can be observed by executing the attached python script
(slightly modified lldb example from https://lldb.llvm.org/use/python-
reference.html).

Expected behavior is that breakpoint is set and hit, but due to missing
lldb-server-10.0.0 binary, the process is never launched.

[Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'

2020-08-10 Thread Aleksandar Pejic
@Niko since you have an S145 you might want to try this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/f9h0q4/touchpad_issue_lenovo_s14515iil/

Just adding the "i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs" kernel parameters to grub made
the touchpad work on a IdeaPad S145-15IIL 81W80025YA I had in my hands.

However, the above does not work on a ThinkBook 15IIL.

[Bug 1849086] [NEW] [To Be Filled By O.E.M., Realtek ALC892, Green Headphone Out, Front] No sound at all by default

2019-10-21 Thread Aleksandar
Public bug reported:

The problem happens on a freshly installed Ubuntu 18.04.

On first boot after reinstall, the state of pavucontrol and Ubuntu's
sound settings is as shown in the attachment 1.png

When I change HDA-Audio Generic to Analog Stereo Duplex in pavucontrol,
the state is as shown in the attachment 2.png and I still don't have
sound on Front

One workaround about this is to use pavucontrol to change the port to
Headpones in Output Devices tab, as shown in attachment 3.png, and the
Front will output sound.

The problem is I have to change to Headphones in Output Devices every
time I boot the system.

The specs of my machine are:

[Bug 1576559] Re: Refused to switch profile to headset_head_unit: Not connected

2019-08-18 Thread Aleksandar
The same problem here, "Headset" is not missing.
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.

Device 5C:FB:7C:86:8A:D9 (public)
 Name: JBL TUNE110BT
 Alias: JBL TUNE110BT
 Class: 0x00240404
 Icon: audio-card
 Paired: yes
 Trusted: yes
 Blocked: no
 Connected: yes
 LegacyPairing: no
 UUID: Headset (1108--1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
 UUID: Audio Sink (110b--1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
 UUID: A/V Remote Control Target (110c--1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
 UUID: Advanced Audio Distribu.. (110d--1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
 UUID: A/V Remote Control (110e--1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
 UUID: Handsfree (111e--1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)

Using blueman, I can somehow force the headset profile. Unfortunately, I can
only hear hissing noise in this case for both input and output. I think there
is definitely something wrong in how pavucontrol handles this.
Also, my headphones were tested with an android phone and were working.

I just want to clarify that I'm indeed talking about hibernation, not
suspend-mode.
Thanks.

  I set up my swap partition and tested hibernation on 19.04 /w Nvidia

[Bug 1681918] Re: GNOME Tweak Tool disables all extensions when removing one extension

2017-04-14 Thread aleksandar-todorovic
This might possibly need to be the highest priority.

Same thing happens on a fresh Ubuntu GNOME zesty installation (see the
attachment).

I thought that installing a new one might be a good workaround, so I
went to extensions.gnome.org, picked a random extension, and installed
it.

Nope, even though it's installed, it's not turned on and I still can't
touch a thing in that window.

After that, I've tried enabling them using:

gnome-shell-extension-tool -e

As the output, I get a message saying that the extension has been
enabled, which is not the case. Restarting the GNOME Shell also didn't
work.

...and only at this point, I've noticed the global setting for enabling
the extensions, which indeed re-enables all of them.

[Bug 1655177] [NEW] Impossible to search for apps using onboard virtual keyboard

2017-01-09 Thread aleksandar-todorovic
Public bug reported:

It is impossible to search for apps using the `onboard` package and its
virtual keyboard. Because it's... well, a keyboard on a screen, as soon
as the first key is pressed, Slingshot registers it as the key outside
of the window and closes itself.

Unfortunately, this means that the search functionality is completely
useless on any sort of touchscreen devices.

I've tried (and succeeding) in replicating this by opening the Slingshot
both through Wingpanel and through a Meta + Space keyboard shortcut and
then doing the following:

1. Touching on a button on a screen.
2. Using the touchpad to navigate to some key on the keyboard and touching it
(which means that this issue is easily reproducible on non-touchscreen devices).

In both of these cases, Slingshot closed.

Now, I have absolutely no proposal for the fix, but I think that this is
a non-expected feature for a touchscreen device niche.

[Bug 1567219]

2016-04-17 Thread Aleksandar-rikalo
(In reply to Ivo Raisr from comment #31)

Thank You for reviewing.

I have fixed all things that you mention. The full patch is attached,
and the new version of tests is also attached.

> 2) When including "tinfl.c", do we want to define "TINFL_HEADER_FILE_ONLY"?
> 20) I don't see any coregrind/Makefile changes to build m_debuginfo/tinfl.c?

In case we use #include "tinfl.c" without defining TINFL_HEADER_FILE_ONLY, we
don't need tinfl.c in Makefile.
If we include header only (by defining TINFL_HEADER_FILE_ONLY before #include)
then tinfl.c needs to be compiled separately (this solution is applied in rev2
patch).

> 5) CEnt.data has now non-fixed size. Why CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE is still used in
> various places
> around image.c; for example in alloc_CEnt() and realloc_CEnt()?

CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE is still in use as default (and minimal) size of cache
entry. Larger entries will be allocated in case size of the uncompressed
data is grater than CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE.

> However I don't have any system with toolchain supporting '-gz' at hand.
> I assume you tested on MIPS. Anyone can test on a different architecture or
> distribution?

It seems that nobody has GCC which supports -gz, so the test is useless
for now.

[Bug 1567219]

2016-04-09 Thread Aleksandar-rikalo
Thank you for suggestions.

I've prepared few patches:

ElfXX_Chdr-build-fixup.diff - tinfl is moved to m_debuginfo, checking
for Elf32/64_Chdr structs is placed into "configure" and line endings in
tinfl.c are converted to Unix style.

Elf32/64_Chdr, SHF_COMPRESSED and ELFCOMPRESS_ZLIB come from libc
() and exist only in newer versions of libc. These
structures/constants are not present in Kernel, so I didn't move them to
vki. We can place them to separate header or pub_tool_libcbase.h, if you
think it's more appropriate.

zdebug-support.diff - support for .zdebug sections is added to
readelf.c.

Three kinds of compressed debug sections are supported by Binutils 2.26
(zlib, zlib-gnu and zlib-gabi) and I have tested Valgrind with all of
them on MIPS/X86 Linux.

According to the manual (https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Debugging-
Options.html), GCC should support -gz=zlib and -gz=zlib-gnu options for
generating compressed debug sections, but I haven't succeeded to set up
the environment in which it works. I've written two simple Memchek tests
(compressed_sections_test.diff) which use these options, but they are
not tested properly.

The order of applying patches (after applying compressed-dwarf-
support.diff and tinfl-modifications.diff) :

patch -p1 < ElfXX_Chdr-build-fixup.diff
patch -p1 < zdebug-support.diff
patch -p1 < compressed_sections_test.diff

remember or take a note which ones

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install alltray
Start it with alltray -a

It will install 0.74dev+ version (alltray --version)
In default newer ubuntu is installing that 0.71 version which is almost unusable

And what is beautiful now, you can connect processes without clicking finding
them with
xprop | awk '/PID/ {print $3}' #this will find process PID
alltray -p pidnumber

Recheck unchecked repositories (return system to normal)

[Bug 1363392] [NEW] [needs-packaging] activemq-cpp

2014-08-30 Thread Aleksandar Valchev
Public bug reported:

[needs-packaging] activemq-cpp

activemq-cpp is a JMS-like API for C++ for interfacing with Message
Brokers such as Apache ActiveMQ. C++ messaging service helps to make
your C++ client code much neater and easier to follow. To get a better
feel for CMS try the API Reference. ActiveMQ-CPP is a client only
library, a message broker such as Apache ActiveMQ is still needed for
your clients to communicate.

URL: activemq.apache.org/cms/
License: Apache License 2
Notes: activemq-cpp and it's decaf library provides really useful functionality.

[Bug 1037134] [NEW] Variable wait when going out of suspend using xfce/xubuntu

2012-08-15 Thread Aleksandar Ivanovic
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS xfce/xubuntu

What happened is for a long time I had an issue that when I want to work
on always on computer and I want to get the screen, the screen would be
black with one line on top (with time) somewhat available and mouse
would be working but nothing else. The time of the wait would depend how
long I didn't use the machine. If I login for another machine and do top
I would see that CPU is being used to process something graphical.

I was able to fix the bug when playing with screen saver controls. Even
though I was running xfce/xubuntu gnome screen saver was active and
making problems and ubuntu offer to kill gnome screen saver which I
accepted.

I might get the same issue if I restart the machine but the problem is
hopefully fixed now for me I just wanted to share the knowledge.

[Bug 1028401] Re: Have a count bagde on the trash item

2012-07-26 Thread Aleksandar Jovanov
In a bit more detail that would be like this :
The most usefull thing would be that fact, that I (user) can see the contents
of trash more precisely.
Currently it only shows an empty/non-empty trash.
I can agree that most users do not care about the amount of items in trash, but
there are some like me that do.
I would also like to add that restore all items quicklist entry would be
usefull too.

#!/bin/sh

ACE_ROOT=/usr/lib/ace; export ACE_ROOT;
TAO_ROOT=$ACE_ROOT/TAO; export TAO_ROOT;

exec $TAO_ROOT/tao_idl $@
---

This should work. I am guessing that this specific Debian/Ubuntu tao_idl
location was not specified during the ACE+TAO build, and MakeProjectCreator TAO
infrastructure still expects to find tao_idl in its default location:
${ACE_ROOT}/bin/tao_idl. If I am not mistaken, this in file
/usr/lib/ace/TAO/MPC/config/taobaseidldefaults.mpb, the following line is the
root cause of my problem:

tao_idl  = $(ACE_ROOT)/bin/tao_idl

The resulting GNUmakefile tries to symlink /usr/lib/ace/bin/tao_idl and,
of course, fails, as the correct location is /usr/lib/ace/TAO/tao_idl

I can not be sure what is the best way to fix this. If Debian/Ubuntu are
insisting on keeping tao_idl in /usr/bin/ace/TAO, then a proper
solution might be to use technique for cross-compilation of the ACE+TAO,
where tai_idl is built first, placed into the desired spot, and then in
second iteration that location is passed to ACE+TAO build, ensuring
proper position of tao_idl.

The problem can be reproduced by attempting to compile any TAO example with the
following line in its *.mpc :
--
project(*idl): taoidldefaults {
--

[Bug 563530] Re: won't save config if missing lxde folder

2011-12-23 Thread Aleksandar Yordanov
Bug is still reproducible on lubuntu 11.10, lxinput-0.3.1-1. Adding the
~/.config/lxde or ~/.config/lxsession doesn't solve anything. Changes
are not saved on either folder in $HOME, or under
/etc/xdg/lxsession/SESSION_NAME/. However, when
~/.config/lxsession/desktop.conf is manually edited and lxinput is
restarted, it displays the correct values, but changes are not applied
right away.

[Bug 880579] Re: fn keys reversed and touchpad not working on thinkpad x121e after awaking from sleep

2011-11-04 Thread Aleksandar Popadić
I'm afraid it might be a BIOS bug. See the links pasted. Users there say
to have the same problem under windows 7 as well. It also appears to me
that only the x121e's with AMD E350 processors are affected by this bug.
My model is x121e 3051-5QG.

The above is for the Fn key bug. The touchpad issue must be a separate
one. I don't have it.

[Bug 709461] Re: Application windows can sometimes fail to display and will mask regions of the screen

2011-05-16 Thread Aleksandar Urošević
OK, this is annoying.

After upgrade from Maverick to Natty I got this issue. Some regions in
the middle of bottom part of screen is unreachable by mouse events
(click and scroll).

I'm use Classic desktop on Lenovo N500 laptop (Intel graphics).

I think I got dirty temporary workaround for this bug. After xwininfo of
ghost area (response is here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/608527/ ) I used
`xkill -id GHOST-AREA-ID` to kill that window, then Compiz restarts and
then I can click and scroll on previously ghost area.

Do this 'kill mojo' works for U?

logout...ONLY ctrl+alt+delete then can restart/shutdown the computer..

[Bug 225227] [NEW] Xorg won't restart if GTK application is started in Kubuntu 8.04.

2008-05-01 Thread Aleksandar
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 8.04 with latest updates is clean-installed on Thinkpad T60 with
ATI x1300 graphic card. Using the proprietary ATI driver (8-4) but also
using the vesa driver, when Xorg is started and hit CTRL+Alt+Backspace
it logs out and everything is fine. But if I start Firefox, GIMP or any
other GTK application and hit Ctrl+alt+backspace or execute
/etc/init.d/kdm restart, Xorg stucks and can't see what is going on.
Can't get the logs, Nothing works, EXCEPT CTRL+Alt+Delete. Then after I
restart the system, Xorg starts fine...

[Bug 194925] Re: I can't mute fully.

2008-02-26 Thread Aleksandar Micovic
Hello 龚韬,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I noticed that you said ...and there is no
longer any sound after you said you muted. However, when you put
electronic devices near your speakers, they made sounds. I'm curious as
to what kind of sounds they made. Electronic devices, especially those
with some sort of receiver (like cell phones, radios) make speakers give
off sounds when in close proximity. So I fear this isn't a bug at all.
Please describe the other devices you put near your speakers, and the
kind of sound you heard.

The first link on google gave me this:
http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/10300 .  Tell me if that's
what you're experiencing, because that happens with all speakers.

[Bug 106361] KDesktop freezes when NFS-mount-point computer gets disconnected

2007-04-13 Thread Aleksandar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdesktop

When you get a NFS mount-point mounted in /media/network (i.e.) (the
mount-point is in /etc/fstab to get automatically mounted) and when the
user turns off his computer without telling you about that (he shouldn't
anyway) without you manually unmount the mountpoint, KDesktop freezes
and if it doesn't the media:/ lists nothing.

To reproduce the bug, mount a nfs share located somewhere on the LAN,
say 192.168.0.12:/home/user/

$ mount 192.168.0.12:/home/user/ /media/network
$

Write a line for that share in /etc/fstab:

192.168.0.12:/home/user/media/network  nfs auto,user,rw0
0

Now, go to media:/ and checkout the content of the sharepoint. Then turn
off the computer that's been mounted, or ask the owner to restart
it/shut it down. Go to Konqueror - media:/ or try to access the
mountpoint via the Icon that automatically appears on the Desktop.
Kaboom! KDesktop freezes or media:/ lists nothing.

Tried to search for report of this bug, couldn't find.

** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)

 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 30093] Re: Suspend does not work on FSC Amilo Pro V2030

2006-07-17 Thread Aleksandar
I am experiencing same machine behaviour. So, what can we do? I am
willing to test, but I need some skilled governor :) to manage my steps.

This problem is very very important to me.

How can I help? Maybe, post dsdt, post fixed dsdt, ...?
