[Bug 717338] Re: No items in Files and Folders place

2011-05-21 Thread Alexander Lancey
I had this issue start a few days ago. I'm using the auto-built Natty
version of ~/.local/share/zeitgeist and I'm on one solid / partition.
I'm getting the same error when I attempt to start zeitgeist-daemon.

Addendum: Moving ~/.local/share/zeitgeist to a backup directory fixes
the files lens, but the applications lens still doesn't have any
commonly used apps. Is there a way to fix the old config files?

[Bug 630574] Re: music

2010-09-04 Thread Alexander Lancey
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 628989] Re: After loading the latest update today, the web browser will not launch

2010-09-02 Thread Alexander Lancey
You should be able to do it from a terminal with a command, then. It
seems your Update Manager is set to not show new versions, so just doing
this will be fastest.

Note: before you upgrade, back up your files. You never know if
something could go wrong, it's best to be safe.

To upgrade, open a terminal (Applications - Accessories - Terminal),
and run the following command:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

This is will take a while. When it finishes, you'll have Ubuntu 10.04!

[Bug 629216] Re: [FFe] Replace Cosmos bundle with existing wallpaper bundle

2010-09-02 Thread Alexander Lancey
Rather than replace cosmos, why not add a slideshow to ubuntu-
wallpapers? It's not like you're gaining more than 5 KB or so.

[Bug 628143] Re: Open Office Writer crashes whenever viewing MS .doc files.

2010-09-01 Thread Alexander Lancey
Thank you for reporting this bug to help make Ubuntu better. For more
information to work with, could you please open a terminal (Applications
- Accessories - Terminal) and run the following command:

ooffice --writer ~/openoffice_log

which will launch OpenOffice. Open a .doc file to repeat the problem,
than paste or upload the contents of the file /home/you/openoffice_log.

Thanks!

** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Incomplete

[Bug 628105] Re: Text not black in Openoffice

2010-09-01 Thread Alexander Lancey
I won't confirm this bug because I'm not sure if the issue is
specifically light-themes, but I have noticed the same thing. Most of
the themes give the dark grey text, but some (like the GNOME theme) give
black text. I think OpenOffice is inheriting settings from the themes.
