[Bug 1881923] Re: No icons in file picker
Unfortunately I can't - this time the issue didn't persist. When I restarted my system this morning everything is back to normal and all the icons are back. I'm sorry - I wish I could be of more help. I will monitor it and get back to you, if the issue occures once again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881923 Title: No icons in file picker To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1881923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1876505] [NEW] vlc creates "zombie-process" when closing while video is playing
Public bug reported: Since I did the upgrade to 20.04 vlc does no longer close correctly. If I close vlc while a video is still playing, the window disappears but a vlc process keeps active in my process-list. Also the little systray- icon stays. [Bug 611015] [NEW] publish url should not be guessable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client When publishing files via ubuntuone it looks like the urls are assigned in a consecutive order (Aaa, Aab, Aac,...). I don't think this is a good idea. They should contain some kind of randomness. Just by trying some addresses I was able to download some files containing possibly sensitive data. And it would be easy to write a script that downloads many files enabling me to get a specific file only by knowing that it was published but without the exact address. Just imagine a possible scenario: I get the information that my boss uses ubuntu one to get an important paper to somebody else. With a little knowledge when it was published it is easy to guess the adress and get the file without even knowing the filename. I know ubuntuone is not a high-security-service but the seemingly cryptic URL and the the fact that other filehosters like rapidshare or megaupload are using randomized addresses gives the user a false impression of security. ** Affects: ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- publish url should not be guessable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/611015 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 566270] [NEW] strange colors and "older" desktop look-and-feel before complete crash
Public bug reported: A few days ago my system started crashing preceded by really strange behavior. First I see some strange colors in the upper half of the screen, than the mouse-pointer gets bigger (as if a blank line was insert after every line - one line of the pointer-shape, one blank, one of the pointer,...). After that my Desktop falls back to an "older" looking theme. Something like the first XFCE-Versions - no round edges, everything flat - pretty much what Linux looked 10 Years ago or so. Even some of the panel icons change (for example I'm using the "Action Button" icon to open the logout and shutdown dialog - usually it shows an open door, but than it shows a green man like the one on the emergency-exit signs). At that point the system reacts really slow to inputs (if at all) and a fem minutes later the screen goes black and I've to restart. All this seems to happen completely at random. I didn't change any hardware or system configuration recently it just began. ProblemType: KernelOops Annotation: Your system might become unstable now and might need to be restarted. [Bug 489278] [NEW] Apparmor should notify the user when it blocks access
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apparmor Well I'm not entirely convinced that this is a bug, but the folks at ubuntu-brainstorm rejected it as an idea, claiming it is a bug [1]. So here I am... AppArmor is a great tool. But the normal user is not aware of it. This leads to problems when Apparmor blocks access to certain resources. For example: My Firefox recently stopped launching external applications. Directly opening torrent-files with transmission did not work, the option "Open containing folder" for downloaded files did no longer work, directly launching my mp3-player failed etc. - and everything without a single message. It just did not do anything... The reason for this was - as you might have guessed - apparmor blocking access to those applications. At the time i didn't know that (=didn't thought of that). For all i knew a part of firefox just stopped working. So I started examine my firefox - disabled addons, launched it from a terminal to see if it gives error messages, searched if it was a known issue, even thought about reporting it as a bug to the firefox-developers. It was mere coincidence that I saw a headline containing "AppArmor" at the ubuntu-forum where I was going to ask for help. At that moment I realized what might be the problem, so i checked the system logs. Bottom line: It was just luck, that I'd read what AppArmor is a few month ago, already had an (slightly different) "Apparmor incident" with mysql when trying to move its data-directory this summer, saw that headline and made the right connection. There should be a warning, visible to the normal user (a window popping up, an icon,...) when apparmor blocks access (preferredly with options like "do not show warnings for this program again","allow access his time","disable profile completly"), making users more aware of apparmor and giving hints, when it blocks legit requests. Just putting it in the system log is not sufficient, because you have to know what your looking for to find it (and even for more experienced users dmesg is not the first place to look, when a single application acts strangely). [Bug 347966] [NEW] kdepim (time tracker) loses data when running out of diskspace
Public bug reported: When running out of disk space kontact destroys data. I recently ran out of diskspace while kontact was open and the timetracker was running. kontact notified me with an warning message. After reading it I freed up some space and pressed okay. As promised kontact closed itself. After reopen kontact I noticed that every entry in Time Tracker was gone (even those, that were not running). Additionally kmail began to redownload every mail that was already fetched but also left on the server (i've selected "leave fetched messages on the server") so I'm now having every mail twice in my folder. I think kontact should handle running out of space more gracefully. Losing already stored data like my Time Tracker History is definitely not an option. Espacialy not if enough space was freed before closing kontact. At least the option to retry writing the data before going down should be present. [Bug 238606] Re: Flash player doesn't work properly on Firefox 3 64bits
I've the exact same problems. Flash with my Firefox 3.0.5 on kubuntu 8.10 (amd64) just does not work probably. Sometimes it just displays the mentioned gray squares instead of the flash content. There are some pages where it does not work at anytime (the new Onion News Player seems to be an example: http://www.theonion.com/content/video/) and other pages where it happens at random occasions. Sometimes even with flash objects that worked just fine a few minutes before. The log shows the exact same problems ((npviewer.bin:26095): Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libqtcurve.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64), but these messages also appear, when entering a site where flash is working - so it probably is not related to the problem. [Bug 295105] [NEW] Kontact/Kmail loses stored passwords in KWallet on system shutdown
Public bug reported: I'm using kwallet to store the passwords for some of my mail accounts. Since the upgrade to KDE4 i've witnessed a annoying behavior. My kwallets close after 30 minutes of inactivity. So it offen happens that the wallet is closed while kontact is still running. When I now shut my system down, it closes kontact (of cause). When doing so kontact tries to access the (closed) wallet for a last time and the kwallet password prompt comes up for a few seconds before it is forced down by the system. If I'm not fast enough in typing in the password kontact does not get access to the wallet and "forgets" that there are stored passwords inside the wallet. So the next time I start kontact it does not even ask to open the wallet and instead prompts me for every single mail password. I guess it should not do this. And why does kontact even try to access the wallet on shutdown - every password is already in there directly after I entered it (I checked with the kwalletmanager). ** Affects: kdepim (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kontact/Kmail loses stored passwords in KWallet on system shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdepim in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 293587] [NEW] Maintenance shell no longer working since 8.10 upgrade
Public bug reported: Sometimes I've problems with an external harddrive. On startup this causes ubuntu to stop booting and to display the "maintenance shell". On 8.04 i could resume booting by pressing Ctrl+D. This is no longer working. In fact my system does not react to any normal inputs. Lets put the link asside - maybe i messed this up, when trying to get my stuff working again. But the elf64 problem persist. What i just did is this: I copied an (older) version of liblzo.so.1 and liblzo.so.1.0.0 i found in one of the older packages to /usr/lib32 replacing the existing files. After that I checked on my files again: /usr/lib32$ readelf -h liblzo.so.1 ELF Header: Magic: 7f 45 4c 46 02 01 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Class: ELF64 Data: 2's complement, little endian Version: 1 (current) OS/ABI:UNIX - System V ABI Version: 0 Type: DYN (Shared object file) Machine: Advanced Micro Devices X86-64 Version: 0x1 Entry point address: 0x2940 Start of program headers: 64 (bytes into file) Start of section headers: 116976 (bytes into file) Flags: 0x0 Size of this header: 64 (bytes) Size of program headers: 56 (bytes) Number of program headers: 5 Size of section headers: 64 (bytes) Number of section headers: 25 Section header string table index: 24 As you can see the elf-class has changed from elf32 to elf64. (for a complete output see the attached file) It seems like removing the "kubuntu-desktop" package causes apt-get to mark large parts of kde as no longer necessary, making it impossible to remove single parts of the kubuntu desktop environment and use autoremove at any later time. I guess this applies only when the "kubuntu-desktop" package was installed from the repositories and works the other way round with the "ubuntu-desktop" package as well. If this is not fixable there should be a warning in the package description. ** Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- After removing the package "apt-get autoremove" recommends the removal of 140 packages https://launchpad.net/bugs/89782 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 67835] Re: Kopete tray icon not in tray (gnome desktop)
I've the same problem. Unfortunatly the screenshot seems to be unavailable, so i'm just adding some other strange behaviours i've noticed with tray-icons for kde-applications under ubuntu gnome. Sometimes tray-icons are completly missing. There is just an empty space reserved where the icons should be. This seems to happen completly at random. I've witnessed a similar behaviour as well with "amarok", so it seems to be not just an kopete-problem. Occasionally when the kopete icon is missing, it is placed in an tiny window (maybe 60x60 px - completly with border and and space for the window-title) at the top left corner of the desktop (just below the ubuntu-icon in an standard-gnome). And at some times the icon appears at the top left corner of the screen (hovering over the ubuntu icon). -- Kopete tray icon not in tray (gnome desktop) https://launchpad.net/bugs/67835 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 78720] Re: "Copy Disc" burns audio disc as data dics
I tried both. First i tried duplicating it with "right click" -> "copy disc" (which resulted in a unplayable cd). And after that for testing purpose i created an image by right clicking on the Audio CD Icon -> "copy disc" and than selecting "copy disc to: file image" (resulting in an invalid image with the error mentioned above). I'm using Ubuntu Edgy on an amd64. Normal burning of audio CDs from files on my hard disc (via serpentine) works fine as well as copying data-cds with the "copy disc"-tool. -- "Copy Disc" burns audio disc as data dics https://launchpad.net/bugs/78720 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 78720] "Copy Disc" burns audio disc as data dics
Public bug reported: I inserted a (unprotected) audio disc in my second cd-drive. It is detected correctly as "Audio Disc". But when chosing "Copy Disc" from the context menu it just burns nonsens leaving me with something that seems to be a data disc (one 74 minutes long track with random noise). When inserting the disc in my computer it doesn't even gets recognized as an valid disc. When using the "copy disc" tool to write the data to an image the resulting file is "CD-ROM is NOT in ISO 9660 format" Is the "copy disc"-tool not able to copy audio discs? In that case it should warn the user and there shouldn't be an entry in the context menu. Or is it just some sort of bug? ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- "Copy Disc" burns audio disc as data dics https://launchpad.net/bugs/78720 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 78304] Re: Firefox crashed on logout
I can confirm that. Just today after restarting my system directly after logging in the bugreporter reported a firefox crash. I think i noticed something similar a few days ago as well but didn't give it much of a thought. -- Firefox crashed on logout https://launchpad.net/bugs/78304 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
