[Bug 1859747] Re: Daemon repeatedly requires installation on boot

2021-01-25 Thread Archie Collins
I needed help with my assignment, and i needed it quick. I dont normally
shop for an essay, but this time around i had no other option as i was
running out of time. I gave it a try, and the essay came out as perfect
as my professor had hoped. Here https://www.paraphrasingonline.com
service simply one of the best online paper writing service in the
field.

[Bug 646862] Re: skype crashes after signing in

2011-04-26 Thread Archie
Alex's approach worked for me.

# lsof -c skype | fgrep pulse

showed two libraries in use, so I did:

# sudo chmod a-r /usr/lib32/libpulsecommon-0.9.21.so
/usr/lib32/libpulse.so.0.12.2

Skype works fine now with sound, microphone and chat. Nice :-)

[Bug 74362] Re: usb wireless device zd1211rw 5-2:1.0: zd_chip_control_leds error -19

2008-05-08 Thread Archie
I have Ubuntu 8.04. I have the similar problem. But for me it only
happens when my router changes the IP every 48 hours. The network is
showing on the icon that it tries to reconnect, it also finds my router,
but the reconnection process never finishes. Even if I disable and
enable networking, or unplug and plugin my USB Wlan, I don't get any
reconnection. Only the restart helps. Any ideas?

I've seen this on my laptop (thinkpad T23), but not since gutsy. Seems
like a kernel problem anyway.

Strange enough, I only have this annoying repeat at login screen. Never
elsewhere.
Once more, my machine is IBM Thinkpad R40e laptop with Ubuntu Feisty.
My another machine, a desktop, that runned same Feisty, and now Gutsy, never
ever had this problem.

lol, it's a second year we file this bug and none responds. Is this a wrong
place to write about bugs or what? If it is, please tell us, where shall we
write to get response.

Re: [Bug 92594] Re: repeate rate problem, sometimes repeats character many times while typing.

2008-01-06 Thread archie
i have been using linux for about 2
years now but this is still the only ubuntu bug i have filed and i dont
really know a lot about bug tracking.

the thing is that I am having this problem for a long time and signed it
up and therefore get news about it for more than a year. as I've seen,
the other bugs are usually solved within a couple of months, if trust
the reports. The patch is produced and sent by Ubuntu team as an update.
Which hadn't happened with this fast repeat bug.
And I am not filing many bugs either. :-)

is there a way we can trace where in the process of keyboard input the
error is occuring? whether it is from the kernel, xorg, etc.

I think, the fact that it is experienced at login might be a good sign -
not that many processes are loaded at that point, so it should be easier
to detect, which one is the cause.
Anyway, I can't do it myself, therefore signed up to this file and am
asking for help :-)

the bug is confirmed but no one has been assigned to it. i filed it
 almost a year ago...

it seems at least I did. It's a long time ago, right...

What is Hardy?
Have to say that after a recent update within these two weeks, the problem
came back. Luckily, only when I sign in (login, password). After I logged
in, the problem disappears.
It shouldn't be that hard to detect, whats up, why does it take so much
time?
Strange...

is a hundred times worse there.

2007-10-11 Thread archie
I have installed Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04, without any changes. Didn't
compile myself, etc... All default. Then using apt-get, installed xfce
on top of it. To avoid repeat bug, turned off acpid, and turned on apmd
in Xfce Menu-- System-- Services. Now repeat bug disappeared, but
battery applet shows 50% of battery all the time. Even if new battery is
attached and filled. I DID NOT SUGGEST to do so to anybody else, neither
I can take on the responsibility for others, since I am noob myself :-)
This was just the information on what I have done.
Good luck and please let me know, if solution is found to make battery
applet working.

I went ahead and followed this troubleshooting recommendation for
completeness, but it didn't solve the problem.

After playing around with it some more, I have figured out that it has to do
with interaction with the acpi interface. Here is my reasoning

 1. acpi=off in the kernel parameters seems stops the bug.
 2. when acpi is on, acpi is off and hal is off, the bug stops.
 3. if either hal or acpid is on when acpi is enabled into the kernel, the
bug is present (both acpid and hal interact with the kernel's acpi
 interface)
 4. When I simply cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/status the bug uncovers
 itself and is reproducable.

This indicates that the bug is definitely in the kernel acpi interface when
ever there is some sort of interaction with it. Since hal and acpid both
poll/interact with it, the bug is produced.

Do you have any idea as to why the kernel acpi drivers/modules/interface is
doing this when I poll anything in /proc/acpi ? If we fix that, then I
think we will fix this bug.

For what it's worth, I'm a Senior Linux SA, however I don't have much
experience with the ACPI kernel interface, so any advanced requests you may
 have would be okay.

2007-10-10 Thread archie
I found out, it is acpi. My laptop bios does not support acpi control.
It is advance power control scheme/module. Dont know great details
about it :-)
Solution I found for myself is to turn out acpi daemon. Battery control
doesnt work, but repeats dissappeared. I installed xubuntu, there is so
called gnome-power-manager instead of acpi, no repeat problems. Battery
applet doesnt work, anyway. Good news if problem was solved in Gutsy,
waiting for final release.

2007-05-19 Thread archie
I did not try Dapper, only Edgy and Feisty. If you say Dapper is ok on
R40e, it probably means that something began going wild from Edgy and
was transfered to Feisty as well.

Anyway, as I said, I do not have any problem with Feisty on desktop
machine.

Thanks for the information, I'll try Dapper!

All the best!

[Bug 92594] Re: repeate rate problem, sometimes repeats character many times while typing.

2007-05-18 Thread archie
Hi,

I am having the same problem when typing (backspace, delay and repeats). It
happens in recovery mode too.
The boot time is extremely slow - several minutes, freezez two times, first
after the line
Loading ACPI modules... and then at Starting Hardware abstraction layer
hald. Everything as described in bug #99356

Do you know any solution for Feisty (installed today) on Thinkpad R40e
laptop?

Thanks!

Hi guys!

Have exactly the same problems as Ian Johnston on my R40e with Feisty.

Please, let me know, if find a solution. I am trying to do the things
you mentioned in discussion.

Let you know about the progress (if any). :-)

[Bug 99356] Re: [Feisty] Keyboard repeats keystrokes like tttthiiiiiiiiiiiissss

2007-05-18 Thread archie
My specifications:

IBM Thinkpad R40e (model 2684 - H8U)
Intel Celeron (M) 2GHz
1 Gb RAM
Clean Feisty install from official release CD (not a dist-upgrade)

Same repeat problem if boot from Edgy Eft CD.

On my desktop machine Edgy was installed, then I upgraded to Feisty,
having no problem at all.

Problems are only with the laptop. Therefore I think it is something
hardware specific, not to blame Feisty.

Anyway, are there any ideas what to do?
