I still have this problem. It came about recently, was not fixed in the

Meanwhile, in the nm-manager application, there is /clearly/ a saved
password. I have tried clicking and unclicking the available to all
users, toggling ignore ipv6, and setting connection manually versus
automatically. Still, the connection drops every 5-10 min and asks for
a password that it already has stored.

This started maybe 3 weeks ago?

[Bug 976083] Re: Screen brightness settings

2012-05-21 Thread Atheg
Yeah, same thing. It's weird because the slider slides like it is
recognizing the change in brightness, but it isn't actually making the
screen brighter or less bright. Haven't tried it when connected to AC,
but definitely a problem on battery (when I most want to crank up the
brightness so I can see my screen in the sun.)

[Bug 997737] [NEW] Detroit is not in Canada, 12.04

2012-05-10 Thread Atheg
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 over the weekend. When it asked me to select
my location or time zone or whatever, I selected Detroit, Michigan,
Eastern Time Zone. When I booted up, I saw that my locale settings were
for Canada, rather than the US. So, I had Canadian date format, units,
and currency.

I changed it to US per this askubuntu thread:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/133011/set-default-language-to-english-us-in-12-04

Not sure where this geography information is stored, but this fixed the
problem for me after the fact.

[Bug 580333] Re: tomboy notes disappeared

2012-03-19 Thread Atheg
Help, me too! My to-do list is gone. This is a critical note.
Sporadic and unpredictable data-loss renders tomboy useless as a note-
taking application. There's no reference to an error, nothing---just
lost critical data.

This has happened to me now 3 times. I've noticed it tends to be a note
that is open when a session ends (usually my to do list). I can confirm
that the shutdowns were clean.

Can someone address this? Please save us from org-mode!

[Bug 881581] Re: eog hangs when trying to display any image

2012-03-08 Thread Atheg
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 880227 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880227

@Lorem, can you post how you downgraded all the glib stuff to live happily?
Which files did you downgrade, and how did you find them? I posted a question
like this in the main area, here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/880227/comments/18

My concern is identifying all the items necessary to downgrade, and then
dealing with dependency problems once that's taken care of.

[Bug 880227] Re: eog fails to start with: GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: Timeout was reached

2012-03-08 Thread Atheg
Hello, I face this bug, too. Can anyone tell me how to downgrade
libglib2 to the correct version?

My understanding is you go into Symantec and Force Version to the downgrade.
However, there are so many files that come up when you search for libglib2.
Which one gets downgraded?
ie

libglib2.0-doc
libglib2.0-dev
libglib2.0-cil
libglib2.0-0
libglib2.0-bin
libglib2.0-data

What about dependencies? Haven't things been downloaded around my
current version? Does downloading break that?
