[Bug 1832741] [NEW] Systemtap regression on Linux 5.2.0-rc4+

2019-06-13 Thread Bharath Vedartham
Public bug reported:

System tap breaks when I run the following script in Linux 5.2.0-rc4+.
It does not break on stable kernels like 4.4.0-148-generic.

Script:
file.stp:

global stats

probe kernel.function("do_try_to_free_pages").return {
   order = @entry($sc->order)
   time = cpu_clock_ns(cpu()) - @entry(cpu_clock_ns(cpu()))
   stats["do_try_to_free_pages", execname(), order] <<< time
}

probe kernel.function("try_to_compact_pages").return {
   order = @entry($order)
   time = cpu_clock_ns(cpu()) - @entry(cpu_clock_ns(cpu()))
   stats["try_to_compact_pages", execname(), order] <<< time
}

probe end {
   foreach([f,en,order+] in stats) {
printf("%s:%s: order %d allocation latency - ", f,en,order)
printf("max/avg/min/count: %d/%d/%d/%d\n",
@max(stats[f,en,order]),@avg(stats[f,en,order]),@min(stats[f,en,order]),@count(stats[f,en,order]))
  }
}

[Bug 1605474] Re: do-release-upgrade could notify when release is expected

2016-07-28 Thread Bharath
Thank you. If the developers do indeed decide to implement such a
feature, it would be good if some custom message could be shown.
Something like - "We are waiting to squash all the bugs." So if the
expected date passes by and no one has updated the revised ETA date,
people have reassurance that there is a reason this is happening and not
a flaw / bug.

[Bug 1605474] Re: "No new release found" upgrading from 14.04LTS to 16.04.1

2016-07-26 Thread Bharath
It might be helpful if the error message said -

$ sudo do-release-upgrade
Checking for a new Ubuntu release
No new release found - Next release expected to be available on 2016-06-28.

The meta file cold have an entry for the next release in the schedule.
This would save a lot of people a lot of time and trouble. I think I
shall post this as a separate feature request.

"After a week" is in the comment to the answer on Ask Ununtu. A moderator
got this info from IRC. And there is nothing to stop them from making it a
fortnight.

heard from the release team that release upgrades would be open after a

I added a 20 second delay to avoid race conditions, but from the last 4

What possibly changed with my sleep?

[Bug 1318771] Re: x230t dock station usb devices stopped working after resume from suspend

2014-07-30 Thread bharath
I was also getting the same problem when anything is plugged into my usb
3 ports. I installed kernel 3.15.7 and the problem disappeared. So this
issue is fixed upstream. It would be great if someone can backport it to
ubuntu 14.04.

Thanks,
Bharath

[Bug 1176674] [NEW] Kubuntu 13.04 amd64 LiveUSB installation crashes at Running grub install dummy

2013-05-05 Thread Bharath Murali
Public bug reported:

Hi,
The Installer crashes at Running grub install dummy and I tried to report
using command line ubuntu-bug ubiquity but it pops up a message saying This
is not an official Ubuntu package. Please remove any third party package and
try again. So I decided to file a bug report here.
Here are the  detailed steps to the crash;
step 1 : Booted Kubuntu 13.04 amd64 LiveUSB in UEFI mode
step 2 : Selected Install Kubuntu
step 3 : Selected install third part software
step 4 : Used manual disk partitioning
step 5 : Filled out all the remaining necessary details like time zone,keyboard
layout,user details
step 6 : Installer tries to run grub install dummy and crashes

Later I ran ubiquity in debug mode and it showed the message The 'grub-efi'
package failed to install into /target/. Without the GRUB boot loader, the
installed system will not boot. I temporarily fixed the problem using
Boot-Repair.
I am attaching the debug file and some log files too. If you need more details
I would be happy to provide.

[Bug 842566] Re: Libreoffice and unity integration broken.

2012-07-17 Thread Bharath Kishore Aluri
I am seeing is this for the last two weeks.

I have been using Ubuntu 12.04 Since a week after its release and been
regularly updating.

I am using the distro provided Libre office and not using external PPAs
for Libre Office as far as I checked with the repositories list in
/etc/apt/sources.list

1. I am facing the issue of not being to switch to Libre Office file that is
open using Alt+Tab.
This issue is not seen sometimes when only one file is opened. But, when
multiple Libre Office Writer files are opened, this issue shows up always.

In this case, Launcher icon is not lit and I can switch to Libre Office
only by minimizing the windows that get shown over the Libre Office
window.

2. I also have the issue of Libre Office icon shown again in the Libre
Office for the file that has been opened. Alt+Tab also does not work
occassionally during this scenario.

On not all, but most occassions, if I restart the machine, everything
works normally for sometime and goes back to showing the above mentioned
issues.

If it helps, the applications that I normally have open are Terminal,
Google Chrome, Thunderbird, Skype and Netbeans 7.1.2

[Bug 927860] Re: Missing musb-hdrc module required by Pandaboard OTG port

2012-02-25 Thread Bharath Ramesh
Would be possible to compile an armhf kernel. I am currently running
armhf and so unable to test it.

I am not sure if this is helpful, I have a kernel that I compiled from
source. I build all the modules I need loaded into the kernel, my
personal preference.

$ cat /boot/config-3.2.1-omap4 | grep -i musb
CONFIG_USB_MUSB_HDRC=y
# CONFIG_USB_MUSB_TUSB6010 is not set
CONFIG_USB_MUSB_OMAP2PLUS=y
# CONFIG_USB_MUSB_AM35X is not set
# CONFIG_MUSB_PIO_ONLY is not set
CONFIG_USB_GADGET_MUSB_HDRC=y

This from your build

$ cat config-3.2.0-1406-omap4 | grep -i musb
CONFIG_USB_MUSB_HDRC=m
CONFIG_USB_MUSB_TUSB6010=m
CONFIG_USB_MUSB_OMAP2PLUS=m
# CONFIG_USB_MUSB_AM35X is not set
CONFIG_MUSB_PIO_ONLY=y
# CONFIG_USB_GADGET_MUSB_HDRC is not set

I think CONFIG_USB_GADGET_MUSB_HDRC is required for it to work.

Rebuilding the kernel with module built-in similar to Oneiric works. The
OTG port is detected without issues.

I upgraded to 3.19-0ubuntu1~ppa4 and I am still unable to attach to
session using -xS sockname switch.

$ byobu -list
There are screens on:
4467.bar(12/28/2010 10:58:36 AM)(Attached)
4322.foo(12/28/2010 10:58:32 AM)(Attached)
2 Sockets in /var/run/screen/S-username.

$ byobu -xS bar
There is no screen to be attached matching byobu.

From the error it appears that byobu is always passing byobu as the
sockname instead of what is passed to it in the switch.

[Bug 623991] [NEW] cfv fails to detect files with trailing spaces in sfv file

2010-08-25 Thread Bharath Ramesh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cfv

1) lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04

2) apt-cache policy cfv
cfv:
  Installed: 1.18.3-1
  Candidate: 1.18.3-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.18.3-1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) cfv should ignore trailing spaces in file name in an sfv file till it
encounters the crc-32 checksum
4) cfv does not detect file names correctly and reports files are missing.

For example if the sfv file contents are:

foobar 12345678
foo   9abcdef0

cfv fails to detect foo, if you delete all but one of the trailing white
space after foo cfv detects the file foo.

** Affects: cfv (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 623991] Re: cfv fails to detect files with trailing spaces in sfv file

2010-08-25 Thread Bharath Ramesh
For some reason the example sfv file the additional spaces were removed.
Attaching an example set of files which one can use to replicate the
bug. The file contains two text files foobar and foo, their contents are
foobar and foo respectively. There are two sfv files bar.sfv and
foo.sfv. cfv will fail to detect the file foo in bar.sfv because of
additional spaces between file name and the crc-32 checksum. cfv will
correctly detect the files when foo.sfv is used.

[Bug 88899] Re: cpufreq locked in slowest speed

2010-06-02 Thread Bharath Krishnan
I see this on my dell latitude e6400 after I upgraded to lucid. Didn't
have this problem in karmic. Once for some reason if then fan comes on,
the cpu max freq is stuck at 800Mhz and the fan doesn't switch off.
Lucid is very frustrating for an LTS release, a bunch of things that
were working in karmic are now broken (I know it isn't helpful to say
that here, but ... ). Proxy handling: broken, External monitors: broken,
Function keys: broken, sbackup: broken, list goes on.

 Bharath,

 Your problem seems to be different than mine. It seems more like a
 network communication error (thats just my prima facie assessment)
 which if you look at other items in the thread is probably due to some
 certificates issue. This might just fix it for you :

 While I edited twitter.py in dist-packages/.../ microblog in your case

 As a suggestion from abundant caution, perspective, if you are not
 sure, wait a while longer for the bug fixes. Changing code without
 knowing the implications could make things worse.

2010-01-22 Thread Bharath
I am facing the same problem with the amd64 alternate install CD. The
only way I managed to get past this issue was by constantly modifying
/target/etc/apt/sources.list to a valid ubuntu http mirror. I am not
sure if the problem is that it is trying to look for _Karmic Koala_
instead of Karmic Koala when it tries configuring APT.

[Bug 492583] Re: gnumeric

2009-12-04 Thread Bharath Krishnan
This is even worse than I thought. For example, create a small solver
problem in a new gnumeric file. Check that it works. Now save the file
and re-open in gnumeric. The constraints are gone from the UI!. If you
gunzip the gnumeric file and look at the xml, you can see the constraint
definitions in the XML but they don't load in the constraints UI.

[Bug 293970] Re: bonobo-activation-server : could not associate with desktop session

2009-11-29 Thread bharath

 I got this problem solved for me

 I also got into same problem after I upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 and it
persisted even after I moved to 9.04. While doing checks after the
upgrade I noticed that I was running old kernel 2.6.22.14 that came as
part of my 8.04 install. I retained my old /boot/grub/menu.lst that has
reference to this old kernel. I forgot to change after the upgrades.
When I changed it to the latest 2.6.28.16, I stopped seeing this
problem. Hence for me the root cause is wrong kernel. see if this helps
you all.

After the successful connections, if you disconnect and connect again,
most of the time blueman will show failed to connect. This is very
critical issue. we need to find out the root cause for this issue.

Workaround Soultions:

Just remove any BT profile and create new connection profile. It will
work. Otherwise just reboot the Lnx machine.

[Bug 56213] Re: RandR doesn't work anymore (after suspend?)

2006-11-28 Thread Bharath Krishnan
There seems to be a simple way to fix the issue with resolutions. I
don't know if there is something similar for the rotation issue.

The xorg.conf file had entries only for the 1400x1050 resolution
I added one for 1280x1024. Now after resume, I can change resolutions using
xrandr

SubSection Display
Depth   24
Modes   1400x1050 1280x1024
EndSubSection

I did not touch the xorg.conf file after the breezy-edgy update. So
either the file was changed during the update or not having the
1280x1024 resolution did not cause this problem in breezy

[Bug 56213] Re: RandR doesn't work anymore (after suspend?)

2006-11-28 Thread Bharath Krishnan
I think I am a bit behind in times,

So does RandR should automatically detect possible resolutions in
addition to allowing switching between then without restarting X?

I wonder if these warnings in the log file are relevant to this problem
(auto detection)

Re: [Bug 72516] Re: Firefox closes automatically

2006-11-23 Thread Bharath V
i agree..the same thing happened..instead I tried installing swiftfox and
the problem still persisted and then I reinstalled FireFox and when it
entered secure pages like gmail, I accepted the certificates permanently and
this problem won't reoccur. Wierd I didn't notice this certificates warning
the first time when I used firefox after installing Edgy...

 I have this problem as well so installed epiphany and it's doing exactly

[Bug 56213] Re: RandR doesn't work anymore (after suspend?)

2006-11-07 Thread Bharath Krishnan
I can replicate this bug on edgy.

The native resolution for my laptop screen is 1400x1050. The native
resolution of the lcd panel connected to the laptop docking station is
1280x1024.

Typically I use the laptop with the lcd panel (screen closed). Once I
suspend the laptop and then wake it back up, xrandr shows only the
1400x1050 option. Logging out and logging back in does not fix this.
However, restarting X with CTRL+ALT+BKSPACE fixes the problem.

Dapper did not have this issue, laptop woke up from suspend without any
xrandr issues.

The video chipset is an Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express
Graphics Controller
The X driver is i810
