[Bug 569202] Re: WhiteOrchid.jpg replaces warty-final-ubuntu.jpg as login wallpaper
I don't understand how Debian packaging works, but a file called ubuntu- wallpapers-extra.xml.in has WhiteOrchid.jpg at the top of the file, with the rest listed below. So for some reason, something is setting the GDM to WhiteOrchid.jpg because it's the first on the list (probably something to do with the call from setup.cfg). I'm positive this is a one line fix, I just can't find it because I don't understand packaging at the moment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569202 Title: WhiteOrchid.jpg replaces warty-final-ubuntu.jpg as login wallpaper -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Pausing after reboot and re-installing boot.scr as described above, I get output on the serial port: [0.00] Verbose stalled-CPUs detection is disabled. Yes I followed the instructions linked to in the original post, and adjusted the boot.scr for serial bootablity to: if test ${beaglerev} = xMA; then echo Kernel is not ready for 1Ghz limiting to 800Mhz setenv mpurate 800 fi setenv dvimode 1280x720mr...@60 setenv vram 12MB setenv bootcmd 'mmc init; fatload mmc 0:1 0x8000 uImage; fatload mmc 0:1 0x8160 uInitrd; bootm 0x8000 0x8160' setenv bootargs 'console=ttyS2,115200n8 console=tty0 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait ro vram=${vram} omapfb.mode=tv:pal omapdss.def_disp=tv fixrtc buddy=unknown' boot I don't know what to call not going any further in the boot process, if you don't want to call it freezing :-) I've tried both with and without the svideo cable connected, does not finish booting either way. -- BeagleBoard xM freezes while attempting to boot 10.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/664827 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 664827] [NEW] BeagleBoard xM freezes while attempting to boot 10.10
Public bug reported: I installed Maverick on a BeagleBoard xM-A2, following the instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OMAPMaverickInstall Since I am don't have a monitor with DVI-in, I adjusted the bootargs, as per: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/BeagleEditBootscr This was done by following: Strip the 72byte long uboot header: dd if=boot.scr of=boot.script bs=1 skip=72 Open the file in an editor and edit the setenv bootargs line to add/remove bootoptions: setenv bootargs vram=12M console=ttyS2,115200n8 serialtty=ttyS2 omapfb.mode=tv:pal root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 fixrtc /usr/bin/mkimage -A arm -T script -C none -n Ubuntu boot script -d boot.script boot.scr #done as root on fedora desktop Then copied the newly created boot.scr file on my SD card replacing the existing one. [Bug 585209] Re: .odt and .ods open with fileroller instead of openoffice
When I upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10, the error still appeared. I created a new user, moved over all my documents (but not my preferences) and the error no long occurs. So it appears something corrupted a vital preference but I'm not sure what. The user account that still has the error on my machine still exists if you need further testing. Lastly, when I right-clicked the document and said 'Open with OpenOffice.org Writer' (if it was .odt) would open OpenOffice.org Writer, but it wouldn't retrieve the file requested, instead just opened 'Untitled1'. -- .odt and .ods open with fileroller instead of openoffice https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585209 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 334544] Re: indicator applet needs keyboard shortcut
I highly recommend AGAINST using Super+S as it's already the default shortcut for the window grouping plugin in compiz and has been for sometime. Just went to enable it on my maverick build and Super+S is bringing up the indicator applet instead of window grouping as the indicator applet is taking precedence. Ev][L's post above details what I believe is a workaround they found for the problem but I couldn't find anyone who voiced the problem in the first place above hence my post (if I missed it please excuse the double post). Again though - alt + control + s makes more sense over super + s. Alt + F1 brings up the Applications menu. Maybe Super + F1 would work also? [Bug 581566] Re: udevd inotify_add_watch no such directory error for physical volumes
Installing cryptsetup fixed it for me too, but I don't really consider this to be a fix. I don't need cryptsetup, and don't like the idea that I'm loading something I don't need upon every boot to mask a bug. I notice this bug is confirmed but still unassigned. Is it considered low priority? I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04, but am considering wiping it out and switching to Debian because of this and another (login screen freeze) issue I've had since installing Ubuntu. Also seeing the same issue as in comment #2. I use the split track into a fixed number of parts to split a 41 minute audio track into 4 parts. [Bug 577224] [NEW] Checkbox doesn't recognize that the .config/checkbox settings have been moved from one PC to another
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: checkbox I did a mass copy of my /home drive when I bought a new laptop. That means all my settings were copied as well. Both laptops were on Lucid, however, checkbox did not recognize that the .config/checkbox/ file had been moved and my hardware had changed. So I ran checkbox on my new laptop and was about to send the report but when I viewed it, I noticed it had my old hardware listed. Of course, I now deleted .config/checkbox and this possibly could be a user error depending on how you look at it, but that means the program will be sending erroneous data if this isn't fixed. This was also a problem in 9.10 as well as 9.10 server. It appears that the linux headers installed don't match the current linux kernel version. After the ubuntu upgrade completed I re-run apt-get install dahdi-dkms This fix the problem. I wonder if there is some sort of install order issue where the required headers are not installed until after dahdi is built. [Bug 561083] [NEW] Gnome Sound Recorder 2.28.1 records corrupt m4a
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media I am using Ubuntu 9.10. I recorded as CD Quality .MP3. When I finished recording, the file played very nicely. The next day I used the same Gnome Sound Recorder 2.28.1 to record audio from the same mixing board, via the same laptop's microphone input. I recorded this time as CD Quality AAC, .m4a. When I finished recording, I tried to play back the file. Unfortunately, I received a This file contains no playable streams error from Exaile. I then tried to make a simple recording using my laptop's built in microphone, using the m4a setting. I received the same error when trying to play back the file. It seems that my Gnome Sound Recorder 2.28.1 cannot record a valid m4a file, when configured to use that setting. Please let me know if I am missing something. Please let me know if there is any way to fix my seemingly corrupted file, as it was the only recording from a sound board from this particular performance.
