[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2021-04-11 Thread Cas
I installed driver version 460.39 and encountered what I assume is the
same bug, the only usable scaling was 100% and 200% with the other
fractional scaling options 'zoomed' in slightly so the right-hand side
of the desktop was cut-off.

I did however find a workaround on AU
https://askubuntu.com/a/1321851/8570 that might help identify the
problem.

Open nvidia settings with root privileges:

sudo nvidia-settings

In PRIME profiles change *Performance* to *On-Demand*
Restart system
Verify that fractional scaling is working again
Reopen nvidia-settings as above and change *On-Demand* back to *Performance*
Restart system
Verify that fractional scaling is still working

[Bug 1908469] Re: Cannot install .deb packages opened from Firefox

2021-04-10 Thread Cas
As others have suggested this is a snap app issue with /tmp dirs and can
be verified with:

gnome-software --local-filename '/tmp/mozilla_user0/app_amd64.deb'

snap-store --local-filename '/tmp/mozilla_user0/app_amd64.deb'

I have added workaround to AU to use 'gnome-software' for opening debs:
https://askubuntu.com/a/1330582/8570

I did also find an alterntive workaround so that all snap apps have
access to /tmp: https://askubuntu.com/a/1264341/8570

Is it one specific torrent that is causing the crash? If so can you
email me details of the torrent(s)

[Bug 1889660] Re: deluge not responding to close mouse or key commands

2020-09-26 Thread Cas
Thanks for the error report

You would need to use "pkill -9 deluge-gtk" to terminate a non-responding
process.
Without that 9 signal the kill command defaults to SIGTERM which is the same as
trying to close the window, i.e. asking for a graceful terminate.

[Bug 1825593] Re: Display scale not remembered when X11 Fractional Scaling is enabled

2020-06-12 Thread Cas
I don't think this is quite fixed.

I have my laptop display set to 2048x1152 and it connects fine to an
external monitor via thunderbolt running the full 2560x1440 resolution
but when disconnecting the display would reset to default 2560x1440
resolution with 200% scaling.

After reading this bug report about fractional scaling, I disabled the
option and now disconnecting the display from the laptop it returns to
my preferred 2048x1152 with 100% scaling.

I am using the latest mutter version:

dpkg -s libmutter-6-0 | grep Version
Version: 3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1

The old:

The issue seems to be that in Cosmic the libboost-python lib naming
convention has changed and that affects the debian rules scripts picking
the correct lib python version.

Cosmic: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libboost_python36.so.1.67.0

[Bug 1758306] Re: Cannot switch mouse primary button to Right (left-handed) in Settings

2018-09-12 Thread Cas
@leonciomaya

This issue was definitely fixed so you there is likely something else
going on with your system. Here are some suggestions:

Check all updates are installed? Try proposed updates?
Is this with mouse or trackpad?
Have you checked what gsettings is reporting?

gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed

Perhaps try a booting with a livecd ubuntu and test mouse there.

I will also say that it can be assumed that everyone including the OP
consider this specific issue fixed (I am muting this bug). Therefore you
will need to open a new launchpad bug. You can also use the ubuntu
forums or IRC for direct help with diagnosing the issue.

[Bug 1788049] Re: Kernel 4.15.0 updates disabling touchscreen in tablet mode on X1 Yoga

2018-09-04 Thread Cas
Feel a bit silly, I just realised that a year ago I had created an event
script to disable the touchpad in tablet mode due to thinkpad acpi
driver bug. However I used the event number instead of a unique symlink
and with kernel updates the event number remapped to the touchscreen and
thus disabled it in tablet mode. All fixed now, sorry for noise!

[Bug 1788049] [NEW] Kernel 4.15.0-32 disables touchscreen in tablet mode on X1 Yoga

2018-08-20 Thread Cas
Public bug reported:

After a linux kernel update to 4.15.0-32 the touchscreen on my X1 Yoga
is disabled when rotated into tablet mode. This is a major regression
since my laptop is unusable in tablet mode now. The touchscreen will
work fine up until I rotate the screen 180 degrees and table mode is
enabled.

Rebooting with kernel 4.15.0-30 restores the laptop to the correct
behaviour.

[Bug 1763339] [NEW] Mouse and trackpad buttons not swapping to left-handed

2018-04-12 Thread Cas
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu Bionic Beaver (development branch)
Release:18.04

I upgraded from 17.10 to 18.04 and found that the settings to swap the
buttons for left-hand usage is not working and the buttons stay the
same, i.e. left button is primary and the right button is context.

There is a report of the same issue on RedHat:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1476586

Running the following commands for libinput reveal that it is working
correctly with left-hand setting enabled and pressing the left trackpad
or mouse button is BTN_RIGHT and the right button is BTN_LEFT.

[Bug 1726168] Re: deluge-gtk crashed with SIGSEGV

2017-10-24 Thread Cas
The early 1.1 versions are quite buggy, could you try with latest
libtorrent 1.1 stable from the develop ppa: https://launchpad.net
/~deluge-team/+archive/ubuntu/develop/+build/13580853

You will only need these debs:

libtorrent-rasterbar9*.deb
python-libtorrent*.deb

Install them using `dpkg --install xyz.deb`

[Bug 1705066] Re: Deluge crash with 'exceptions.UnicodeDecodeError' if python-rencode is installed

2017-07-19 Thread Cas
We ship a python-only version of rencode with Deluge so the rencode
cython version must have an issue.

You might be able to force remove python-rencode using dpkg after
installing Deluge 2.0, hopefully making it usable again...

This will need reporting upstream to: https://github.com/aresch/rencode

[Bug 730159] Re: ffmpeg library configuration mismatch

The solution is to remove libavcodec-ffmpeg-extra56 package, which will
replace it with libavcodec-ffmpeg which stops the ffmpeg warning output.

sudo apt remove libavcodec-ffmpeg-extra56

[Bug 1475620] Re: grub-common does not unset "recordfail" on hibernate when using systemd

2017-03-09 Thread Cas
Any update on this bug being fixed or reported upstream? I spent ages
trying to figure out why the grub menu was appearing with a 30secs
timeout after hibernation when it was supposed to be set to hidden! It
may be a trivial bug but it really is not obvious that recordfail would
be set for clean shutdown and startup.

This is on 17.04 lubuntu.

To workaround the issue I used the forum thread details to create
`/etc/systemd/system/hibernate-recordfail-fix` with the code below and
then `systemctl enable hibernate-recordfail-fix`:

[Unit]
Description=Execute grub script to unset recordfail after hibernation.
After=hibernate.target

ExecStart=/etc/pm/sleep.d/10_grub-common thaw

[Bug 1582237] Re: deluged systemd unit doesn't fail if configuration file isn't accessible

2017-03-08 Thread Cas
> I'd say that if the application can't run without the required file,
it's a severe/actual error because it's no functional/operational. Why
is the file not created at start instead of shutdown? The message should
contain the information given here.

It is running, you said so yourself. The values are stored in memory
while running and default values are generated from code if the file is
missing so the warning log can be ignored when first starting. The
values are then written to file on shutdown.

As you mention in that ticket, you are using init.d so it is not
applicable.

[Bug 1633785] Re: deluged errors related to wrong libtorrent version installed.

2016-10-17 Thread Cas
I just realised this is not a bug, geoip support was dropped in 1.1 and
this is simply a log message from Deluge 1.3 when it encounters the
missing method.

See Deluge ticket for details.

[Bug 1582218] Re: python3.5dm-config --libs causes undefined reference to `PyModule_Create2'

2016-07-13 Thread Cas
It's due to libtorrent updating m4/ax_boost_python in v1.0.8.

Running configure with python3.2-dbg errors as per OP trace:

./configure PYTHON=/usr/bin/python3.2-dbg --enable-python-binding
--with-boost-python=boost_python-py32

These however work fine:

./configure PYTHON=/usr/bin/python3.2 --enable-python-binding
--with-boost-python=boost_python-py32
./configure PYTHON=/usr/bin/python2.7-dbg --enable-python-binding
--with-boost-python=boost_python-py32

That is a warning nor an error. And you will normally get when first
starting deluge-web without any existing config files, it will be
created upon shutdown and you will not see it again.

Just to add that a systemd unit would stop if Deluge raised an actual
error for inaccessible config so this is not an issue.

[Bug 1487704] Re: Call to deluge.core.Torrent.set_trackers() fails when trackers parameter is None

2015-11-10 Thread Cas
I am a bit perplexed as to why this issue and patch is getting so much
attention when has no bearing on end users. The entire 1.3.12 release
has many more important fixes that directly affect users so if anything
that should be where effort is concentrated for Vivid and even Trusty.

2015-11-10 Thread Cas
I should also add that if the OP is creating a plugin then it needs to
be able to handle and workaround this bug otherwise it will break with
all Deluge versions below 1.3.12 on other platforms so patching 1.3.11
in Vivid is not a good solution. Also of note Vivid is EOL in January
2016.

[Bug 1507382] [NEW] Corrupted output if format option specified in DI_ARGS env var

2015-10-18 Thread Cas
Public bug reported:

I have been using di for years on my 12.04 server and found after
upgrading to 14.04 Trusty I am now getting blank output from the command
with format options specified in the DI_ARGS env var:

export DI_ARGS="-f SMBuv2T -H -st -xnone,ext2"

I narrowed it down to the `-f` options and if I remove a few then it
will change from a blank output to a garbled or random symbols output
suggesting that it is locale code related.

There is no issue using these format options with the di command. So `di
-f SMBuv2T` will output the correctly formatted information .

This is with the latest version of di 4.34 and the previous working
version on 12.04 was 4.30.

I upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04 and found this issue has never been
resolved.

Marking it as fix released for the Unity fixes is fine but that does not
resolve the core issue of this bug ticket, namely the updated will not
show up. Redirecting to other bug tickets is not the solution so I have
added the update-manager package and marked #925260 as a duplicate of
this one.

[Bug 1350527] [NEW] Custom keyboard shortcuts using Esc key do not work

2014-07-30 Thread Cas
Public bug reported:

In 12.04 I used to have Shift + Ctrl + Esc as a custom shortcut to
suspend my machine, upon upgrading I have found that any combination use
Esc key will not run the command. It appears to be a regression from
13.10 as another user is reporting the same issue in askubuntu:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/489418/keyboard-shortcut-shift-ctrl-
escape-does-not-work

Using any alternative such as Shift + Ctrl + F1 works fine.

[Bug 158855] Re: Unable to use escape in keybindings

2014-07-30 Thread Cas
@Tory Gaurnier I don't believe this bug is related to the issue you are
seeing as using Shift + Ctrl + Esc was working fine in 12.04 - 13.10 and
seems to be a regression in 14.04. I have opened a new bug #1350527
against gnome-settings-daemon so we will see what happens.

[Bug 1074789] Re: deluge crashes with throwing an instance of 'std::bad_cast'

It might be worth testing with latest versions of 0.16. There is a PPA
that contains up to date versions of 0.16 here:
https://launchpad.net/~surfernsk/+archive/ubuntu/internet-software

If you are using 12.04 then it is highly recommended to upgrade to 0.16
libtorrent but that is due to a different issue to this one.

[Bug 1270486] Re: indicator-application doesn't use the menu item's label if it has a stock icon

For Deluge we use the stock add icon and have custom text of Add
Torrent but now it's just Add, Pause All becomes Pause etc. so it
is an issue and it is breaking with the convention that you can specify
custom labels with stock icons in a GTK application.
