[Bug 1410495] [NEW] Battery indicator goes Critical Red with more than 1 hour battery left
Public bug reported: On my current laptop, the battery indicator shows a red-with-a-little- left icon when there is more than an hour left in the battery, which is not really appropriate for a critical battery warning. This bug is probably a regression of #743823, and I was asked to create a new bug by @mpt: Christoph, yes, please report a new bug including a screenshot. On phones we may have to color by percentage, but on PCs we can and should color by time remaining to avoid false alarms. A screenshot is attached. Unfortunately I didn't realize at the time that the screenshotter does not record open menus, so you'll have to take my word that the time remaining in the indicator menu was at 1 hour. I can redo the screenshot, if necessary. fwiw, the transition levels (based on minutes left) proposed in the bug description of #743823 sound good to me. [Bug 1044055] Re: online-accounts does not allow a way to disable a particular application
I would take the liberty to +1 this for a similar scenario: Not only is granularity in the integrated applications per account impossible, as Jamie reports, but also the other way round: It's impossible to restrict the permission set for a single account. For example, adding a Google account includes access to Gmail, GDocs, Google+, Youtube, Picasa. What if I want to restrict where my Google account data gets used? [Bug 1069902] [NEW] packages-to-remove dialog should allow user to toggle exceptions
Public bug reported: I think this is the right package to report this feature request against. I also searched update-manager bugs but couldn't find a duplicate. On upgrading Ubuntu, after the new packages have been installed and configured, the user is presented with a dialog offering a (typically great) number of old/obsolete packages, and the only options are to either Keep or Remove them all. Normally, it's a good idea to remove the old packages. In the case that the user wants to remove all of them except one, because whatever algorithm is behind this has a false positive, or for some other reason, this is not possible - it's either keep them all, or remove them all. It would be great if the list of packages had checkboxes where you could exempt certain packages from being kept/removed. [Bug 996008] Re: GUI slows down significantly after random period of time.
For the record, I have tried booting with the irqpoll option, does not help. Doing echo 'options nvidia NVreg_EnableMSI=1' /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf as recommended in that post you linked does apparently not activate MSI for nvidia as intended. There was no file with that name in that directory, but several otehr nvidia* files (nvidia-current-updates_hybrid.conf, nvidia-current_hybrid.conf, nvidia- graphics-drivers.conf). I did not know which one to add that option to, if necessary. However, using dmesg | grep MSI to check for enabled MSI, the following drew my attention: hda_intel: Disabling MSI hda_intel is one of the modules which conflicts on irq11, I think (/proc/interrupts says on 11: ohci_hcd:usb2, snd_hda_intel, nvidia), so I'll further investigate. I have a theory that on precise, the MSI for the sound driver has been disabled for some reason, creating this conflict in the first place. I have to be a bit careful about wildly changing system settings, as this is a production machine and I can't currently afford to lose it for an extended period of time if I have to nuke the system and reinstall or whatever. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996008 Title: GUI slows down significantly after random period of time. [Bug 903647] [NEW] Misleading error message when not using sudo
Public bug reported: I just did a fresh install of fail2ban on Ubuntu Oneiric. When using fail2ban-client without sudo, the given error messages are misleading, or don't point out that you need admin privileges to do what you want. For example, fail2ban-client status gives ERROR Unable to contact server. Is it running? even if the server is actually running. [Bug 870969] Re: Microphone doesn't work on Skype or Flash
what do you mean? the bug manifests itself in skype. anyway, the solution posted in this thread seems to work: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11448296postcount=4 In pavucontrol, unlinking the left/right microphone channels and turning the RIGHT channel all the way DOWN, and the LEFT channel up, seems to solve the problem. [Bug 887787] [NEW] [HDA Intel, playback] mute button does not work
Public bug reported: I got an HP8530w laptop. Up until Oneiric, the hardware mute button (actually a touch-button) was working as expected.
