I got a similar problem : Notebook and external monitor. When I put the monitors "side by side" the "Primary monitor" setting works OK. I removed the package and noticed no problem. BUT why did a package developed for the Ubuntu Phone appear on my workstation? If the goal is convergence between phone and desktop, I think that it would be wiser to make desktop applications work on the phone rather porting phone applications to the desktop. Example : on my desktop, I use VLC for multimedia and on the phone you have 2 applications that does not work as well (one for videos and one for music)... Dont'know if this is the same bug but I have the following behaviour when transferring big files between directories : 1- Open 2 File windows in 2 different directories 2- Copy a big amount of data between these directories in order to show the progress bar (capture 2) 3- Close the 2 Files windows, leaving only the progress bar window 4- Minimize the progress bar. My 2 cents comment : I have Fr and En(USA) environment (Keyboard) On 1st login from fresh start : OK When I close the session and log in again, The applet show Fr, but the keyboard is US. Just clicking on the applet and switching to En then to Fr get things OK. Here is the result of apport-collect 1307233 BTW, I needed to install apport-collect which is not installed by default. I made another try : 1- from the login screen (nobody loggued in) I hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 2- I logged in on the terminal 3- sudo bash 4- shutdown -h now At this point thee focus jumped on X and I can sees the animated ubuntu close screen. So I hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 to return to my console. I can see the end of the shutdown... [Bug 1307233] [NEW] Acer Aspire 3003WLMi problems
Public bug reported: I just Installed Ubuntu 14.04 RC on an old Acer Aspire 3003WLMi, after a very successful install on a Dell Inspiron 6000. Both machines seems to have the same capabilities. BUT : 1- NO wifi detected on the ACER. (OK on the Dell) My first installation hang on kernel configuration for the wifi driver. I found on a blog that un-checking the use proprietary modules solved the problem and allowed the installation 2- Machine completely unresponsive with Unity (3D accelerator seems absent) but completely functional with Xubuntu desktop) (Surprisingly smooth on the Dell) 3- NEVER power off when shutdown or reboot is requested. Seems to be a side effect of the upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04 : The first account has been set up in 13.10 and I upgraded, keeping the home directory. Seems to be caused by an extension ... When I shut shutdown all applets in the upper dock, I get NO FREEZE of the window I had dropbox, cryptkeeper, dropbox, transmission, I started them one by one and made a test : it froze after transmission startup. Stopped transmission and dropbox, restarted nautilus : no freeze at first try, freeze on second try. Then no more freeze. Started dropbox : no freeze. Killed and restarted nautilus : no freeze. Started transmission : no freeze again. Can't say what happens.
