[Bug 2016990] Re: Irregular frame rate in some fullscreen games

Yeah absolutely file a new bug!

Even if it feels the same it's probably not the same bug in the source
code.

Not sure if related, but having similar graphical failures for nautilus,
gnome-control-center, etc. Using nvidia-driver-535.

Had a similar upgrade case to

failed initially and I recovered it.

Similar output of

Same issue upgrading from 22.04 to 24.04, confirmed the fix of `sudo apt
install systemd-resolved` fixes the issue.

Had a crash partway through the upgrade where I was left with the UI
showing "something went wrong", which was partially fixed by dropping
into a terminal and commadning `sudo dpkg --configure -a`, but it was
left in this state afterwards.

[Bug 1969734] [NEW] [Jammy] NetworkManager-openconnect 1.2.6 not compatible with openconnect 8.20

2022-04-21 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Public bug reported:

openconnect 8.20 breaks compatibility with NetworkManager-openconnect
8.20:

"As of openconnect 8.20, INTERNAL_IPx_NETMASK can be set to 0.0.0.0 and
/0 and this causes network manager to fail with a bad IP configuration.
This happens because 0.0.0.0/0 is set as a split route, but rewritten to
be used as netmask instead.
If we detect this we force a /32 or /128 (IPv6) netmask prefix and avoid
setting the CONFIG_NEVER_DEFAULT options."

[Bug 1958260] Re: cloud-initramfs-copymods hides the full list of modules from the system

2022-01-25 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Hi!

So this is a pretty standard Ubuntu Server 18.04 Azure machine, I've
just installed a couple of extra packages.

My boot cmdline right now is

BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.4.0-1067-azure
root=UUID=136d7771-527b-490b-b111-f851f974c604 ro console=tty1
console=ttyS0 earlyprintk=ttyS0

I removed cloud-initramfs-copymods and reinstalled the modules and the
server came back to normal.

I then tried to install copymods again and reboot but I can no longer
reproduce the issue.

[Bug 1958260] [NEW] cloud-initramfs-copymods hides the full list of modules from the system

2022-01-18 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Public bug reported:

After my system has booted, many modules like
/lib/modules/5.4.0-1065-azure/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.ko
are not available.

This is because the copymods system has hidden them with its mount on top:
mount | grep copymods
copymods on /lib/modules type tmpfs (rw,relatime)

So this system doesn't seem to be working as it should...

If I do:
sudo apt install --reinstall linux-modules-extra-5.4.0-1065-azure
linux-modules-5.4.0-1065-azure

they reappear in the tmpfs but on the next boot they are gone again.

This seems to have happened to others in the past:

[Bug 1941752]

2021-12-18 Thread Fe-a-ernst
This is now fixed both upstream in libexiv2 0.27.5 with
https://github.com/Exiv2/exiv2/pull/1918/commits/8a1e949bff482f74599f60b8ab518442036b1834
and in Gwenview for version 21.12.1 with
https://invent.kde.org/graphics/gwenview/-/commit/91fcbe9c63c17bc20dbb3dd90e0451997f1c78a6
by Lukáš Karas.

The fix in Gwenview has not been merged into master and will not be
present for example in future Gwenview 22.04 because we expect packagers
to have shipped the fixed libexiv2 versions by the time Gwenview 22.04
is released.

[Bug 1906373] [NEW] package from 'restricted' depends on package in 'multiverse'

2020-12-01 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
Public bug reported:

In 18.04., the nvidia-driver-435 package with version
455.38-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 is in the 'restricted' repository.

It now depends on nvidia-driver-455 which is only available in the
'multiverse' repository.

This makes the dependency unresolvable on a system where 'multiverse' is
not used.

Possible solution: make nvidia-driver-435 depend on nvidia-driver-450
instead (or along these lines)

[Bug 1895252] [NEW] help menu entry points to website solely promoting adult products

2020-09-11 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
Public bug reported:

In twinkle, if you select the "manual" entry in the "help" menu, the
browser opens the page twinklephone.com, which obviously is not (or no
longer) under control of the twinkle developers. The page displays
"Reviews for the Best Rated P4 Extenders" etc., not suitable for minors,
and many other people do not want to get there either, I guess.

[Bug 1887351] [NEW] CIFS / DFS mount: traversing folder structure no longer possible

2020-07-13 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
Public bug reported:

This is a regression, with kernel 4.15 everything works fine, with
5.3.x, 5.4.x it does not.

Mounting of a DFS root is possible with all kernels with this fstab entry:
//company.com/dfs00 /mnt/dfs00 cifs users,domain=de,username=xyz,noauto 0 0

Then, with 4.15 it is possible to traverse (browse) /mnt/dfs00

Also with both 4.15 and 5.x it is possible to "ls /mnt/dfs00"

But starting with 5.3 trying to, e.g., "ls /mnt/dfs00/subdirxy" fails with the
following sequence of mount errors reported in the system log:
CIFS: Attempting to mount //someserver.company.com/dfs00/subdirxy
CIFS VFS: BAD_NETWORK_NAME: \\someserver.company.com\dfs00
CIFS VFS: BAD_NETWORK_NAME: \\xy.company.com\subdirxy

yes, it does.

sys.path.append('/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/python3.7/site-packages/')

[Bug 1854326] Re: [UBUNTU] - glibc: z15 (s390x) strstr implementation can return incorrect result if search string cross page boundary

2020-02-10 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
That i386 build failure in eoan-proposed is quite annoying:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/2.30-0ubuntu2.1/+build/18674640

Makes build-essential uninstallable for example...

[Bug 1843988] [NEW] python library installed into site-packages instead of into dist-packages

2019-09-14 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
Public bug reported:

The lirc package comes with python libraries and it installs the libraries into
   /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/python3.6/site-packages
This results in the libraries not being found by system python.

>From what I read in https://wiki.debian.org/Python
they should instead be installed into
   /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages

[Bug 1705820] Re: Wrong build when kernel upgrade (about kernel header path)

2019-07-07 Thread Ernst
Can anyone explain how I can apply this patch easily? It is kind of
annoying I have to reinstall every time. Of course I understand that the
developers are busy and maybe this issue is not on top of their list. So
if anyone can help me how to sort this out myself...

[Bug 1832472] WifiSyslog.txt

2019-06-12 Thread Ernst Ahlers
apport information

** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1832472/+attachment/5270317/+files/WifiSyslog.txt

** Description changed:

Upon plugging in a USB adapter for NBase-T ethernet with an Realtek chip
RTL8156 the kernel module cdc_ncm starts flooding /var/log/syslog with
  unneccessary status info.

The status lines either say that there's no ethernet link or show the
interface as connected and state the link speed.

The relevant parts from /var/log/syslog after attaching the adapter
without ethernet link read like this:

[Bug 1751414] Re: [regression] Missing Wayland login option and missing GL acceleration, after installing libegl1

libegl1
  Depends: libc6
  Depends: libglvnd0

libnvidia-gl-390

For some reason libnvidia-gl-390 existed on my system (no nvidia hardware in
this system).
That caused libegl-mesa0 to not be installed and that broke my system.

[Bug 1731636] Re: daily unattended upgrade does not recover from interrupted dpkg run (regression)

2017-11-13 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
you are right, Julian, I am sorry. The behaviour has not changed at all
compared to previous ubuntu releases.

In my case there was the dpkg inconsistency, requiring execution of
'dpkg --configure -a'

But at the same time there was some dependency problem which required
calling 'apt -f install'

The latter made 'apt check' error out, but I attributed this to the
former.

[Bug 1731636] [NEW] daily unattended upgrade does not recover from interrupted dpkg run (regression)

2017-11-11 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
Public bug reported:

ever since the daily unattended upgrade is run via systemd timers it
does no longer recover from interrupted dpkg runs

in /usr/lib/apt/apt.systemd.daily, before the actual unattended-upgrade script
is called, there is a call to
   apt-get check
which ends the daily update run with an error in this case. The log says
error encountered in cron job with "apt-get check".

Before the switch to systemd timers, when a dpkg run was interrupted
(requiring execution of dpkg --configure -a), the unattended upgrade
script would recover from this (unless Unattended-
Upgrade::AutoFixInterruptedDpkg was set to "false"). So this is a
regression.
