[Bug 1311403] Re: Can't type password after resume.

2020-08-02 Thread Evgeni
I'm having the same issue with 20.04:
I've configured the screen saver to not require password after power resume.
Yet in practice the password prompt is displayed (strangely it is grayed, as it
was not fully active) but when I write my password nothing happens.
There is not way to logout from that state as well.

[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2020-06-01 Thread Evgeni Tsvetanov
Experiencing this with RTX 2070 Super. Driver: 440.64. Using 3 monitors
(two 4k, and one 1440). When I try to switch to 125% scaling for the 4k
monitors I get all sorts of weird behavior: monitors disabling, low fps
(the ubuntu UI is very laggy, behaves like it runs in 20-30 fps), weird
zoom issue (hard to explain but when it happens the monitor is not the
entire viewport and when I put the mouse close to the edge it moves the
viewport).

[Bug 1699660] Re: systemd-resolve breaks resolution of local network hostnames

2018-05-10 Thread Evgeni
One more affected usecase - wired LAN connection is not working properly for
VMWare Virtual Machine.
I use laptop with Win10 and run Ubuntu 18.04 as guest OS with VMWare.
Everything worked fine with Ubuntu 16 and 14, but with the current version the
DNS resolution is now broken and I cannot run even "sudo apt update"

Can someone publish instructions how to work around this issue ?

Evgeni Raikhel <evgeni.raik...@intel.com>

P.S
Interestingly enough, FireFox is able to reach internet, probably by
circumventing the built-in DNS resolution mechanism.

Hi,

while your patch will make things work, the right one was applied
upstream about two years ago:
https://github.com/evgeni/tp_smapi/commit/8f40fcf3d9a4bfb9c3dae1caa2107ea3a367a609
:)

An updated package is available for 16.10.

Why Ubuntu is shipping a kernel which was clearly not tested with all
the DKMS packages in the archive is unknown to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Greets

2016-04-06 Thread Evgeni Golov
Hi,

as far as I know there is no PostgreSQL 9.5 in 14.04, so why should there be a
plv8 for 9.5? :)
Are you maybe using a different repo for 9.5? Like apt.postgresql.org?

[Bug 1550912] [NEW] python-lxc segfaults when calling get_ips()

2016-02-28 Thread Evgeni Golov
Public bug reported:

Ohai,

it seems liblxc broke ABI and python-lxc will segfault with something as simple
as:
>>> import lxc
>>> c = lxc.Container(name='foo')
>>> c.get_ips()
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It does not matter if the container "foo" actually exists, is running or not.
A rebuild helps.

[Bug 1540058] [NEW] removing libpam-cgfs tries to remove cgm config

I guess you actually want to remove "cgfs" here?

[Bug 1419402] Re: sysdig-dkms 0.1.87-1: sysdig kernel module failed to build

2015-02-28 Thread Evgeni Golov
This has been fixed in Debian in 0.1.97-1 (experimental). Ubuntu 15.04
will need an own fix, though.

2014-10-04 Thread Evgeni Golov
That's strange. Have you run all commands with sudo?

My ThinkPad X201s exports two joystick devices: ThinkPad HDAPS joystick
emulation and ThinkPad HDAPS accelerometer data. I tested my code
with both of them, and they seem fine.

Calling sudo lsinput does properly list them, and calling sudo jstest
/dev/input/jsX produces working output too.

I would guess that as soon the joystick device actually works using
jstest, hdapsd will pick it up just fine too.

Cool thanks,

as expected your machine has no (currently supported) way to read out
the movements. But the Acer BMA150 accelerometer looks like a good
entry-point.

Are you familiar enough with Git and building software, so I can give
you a Git tree to test later? Or should I prepare some test-packages
when I think I have working code?

2014-09-17 Thread Evgeni Golov
Okay, here we go: https://github.com/evgeni/hdapsd/tree/acer

The following should get you up and running:

- clone the git repo:
  git clone https://github.com/evgeni/hdapsd
- check out the acer branch
  cd hdapsd git checkout acer
- run autogen.sh
  ./autogen.sh
- build the code
  make
- run hdapsd from the source:
  sudo ./src/hdapsd -t -d sda
(-t is for testing, it won't actually park the disk yet)

You will probably need the following packages installed:
 build-essential autoconf automake libtool

Also, could you please install umockdev and post the output of the following
command:
 sudo umockdev-record /dev/input/XXX
or
 sudo umockdev-record /sys/class/input/XXX
where XXX is the input event device of the accelerometer

2014-09-11 Thread Evgeni Golov
Hi and thanks for the report.

- You have to run hdapsd as root for it to work, not as the ubuntu user.
- please give just the device name (sda), not /dev/sda
- even if you do all that, I fear your accelerometer won't be supported by
hdapsd (but I am at work right now and did not have a full look at your
dmesg/lsmod)

Btw, I think the Lenovo B490s is not a ThinkPad, but just a Lenovo
laptop. Yet it would be cool to support it :)

[Bug 787031] Re: installing thinkfan package does not make thinkfan usable

You cannot just reload the module, in most cases it will be in use by
some ACPI daemon or somesuch, and thus not unloadable.

I would also very much like not to override the decision of the
thinkpad_acpi author to disable fan_contol by default.

apt-get purge and reinstall didn't fix the problem.

Where does 0.9.10-2 come from? :)

 However, looking at
synaptic, it seems like the version of libosmesa6 I have installed is
 from Oibaf (https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers),
which would definitely throw a wrench in the works when comparing
against a clean install, but seeing as this hasn't broken any other
GTK/mesa stuff that I'm aware of, DeSmuME might be a little too
prescriptive in how it's linked against the libs?

 all I have in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libOS* is libOSMesa.so,
 libOSMesa.so.8, and libOSMesa.so.8.0.0.

Looking at the PPA, I'd suggest it should be burnt away quickly.

The PPA contains a package libosmesa6, which does not contain libosmesa6
but libosmesa8 (libOSMesa.so.8). This is wrong. And this is the reason
why desmume breaks: it expects libosmesa6 to contain libOSMesa.so.6.

The PPA should break every package depending on libosmesa6 (but not GTK
stuff in general).

Please remove the PPA, install a proper MESA stack and enjoy a working
desmume.

As an alternative: rebuild desmume for your broken environment:
sudo apt-get build-dep desmume
apt-get source desmume
cd desmume-*
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
sudo dpkg -i ../desmume*deb

2013-09-07 Thread Evgeni Golov
@debfx asked for more clarification here, as this is quite a big version bump.
Filtering the diff (ignoring autotools noise, gitignores and stuff for !Linux
arches), we end up with the following interesting changes:
 - support for new IS versions
 - support for extracting single files from the cab
 - fix for a crash on armv5tel (SheevaPlug etc)

esp. without the first one, unshield is pretty unusable with todays
installers.

With my hdapsd maintainer hat on: not a bug in hdapsd (even if it could be

Why Ubuntu reinstalls hdapsd when it was deinstalled by the admin (you) is up

[Bug 1074845] [NEW] monkeystudio crashes while displaying menu tooltips

2012-11-04 Thread Evgeni Golov
Public bug reported:

MkS will currently crash when you click somewhere in the menu and MkS
tries to display a tooltip in the statusbar. E.g.: click View and then
move the mouse down to the possible points.

The upstream patch is at
http://websvn.tuxfamily.org/comp.php?repname=monkeystudio%2Fmkscompare[]=/v2/@4459compare[]=/v2/@4460,
I intend to upload a fix to Roaring ASAP and then fix it in Quantal via
