[Bug 2067143] [NEW] ‘no signal’ after monitor sleep or monitor turned off
Public bug reported: The problem and a workaround is well described here: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/ubuntu-20-04-no-signal-after- monitor-sleep-or-monitor-turned-off/180056 My laptop is connected to an external monitor (Dell) via HDMI. When the laptop is left idle for some time, the screen goes black and the monitor reports "no signal". When I press a keyboard button or move the mouse, the laptop screen comes on...but the monitor still receives no signal. Workaround 1 is to unplug and replug the HDMI cable. Workaround 2 is to press ctrl-alt-F3 to get into a text-based console, and then ctrl-alt-F1 or F2 to get back to graphical mode My laptop has Intel GPU, not Nvidia, so this seems to be a problem with Ubuntu. [Bug 1112751] Re: DHCP over wireless stopped working
I tried Greg's suggestion, but without any luck :( I don't think his problem is relevant to me, because my card has been working well for years...until it suddenly stopped working. And it works with MOST wifi routers, including my phone's access point. I've only come across 2 routers that it no longer works with, unfortunately one of them is my home router. With most other routers, it works. And until that fatal upgrade, it used to work just fine with ALL routers. Since many users seem to be affected, I was hoping someone would be able to come up with a fix...or maybe just revert the buggy code back to how it was. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1112751 Title: DHCP over wireless stopped working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1112751/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1112751] [NEW] DHCP over wireless stopped working
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a Dell Vostro 3700 notebook running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and a Netgear FWG114P WLAN router which I bought 2005. Since the update on Sunday 27. January 2013 the NetworkManager fails to connect to my WLAN Router. The Indicator applet shows all available wireless networks, but the NetworkManager fails to establish the connection. Due to the fact that I see the available networks I think the WLAN driver itself works fine. It seems to be a DHCP problem, but I have no idead how to solve it. If I boot from an Ubuntu 12.04 USB stick which I created about 1 year ago WLAN works fine. Thus it's not a hardware problem. Please could you give me some hints how to solve this problem. [Bug 660864] Re: Ubuntu 10.10 Atheros AR9285 Wireless disconnects ( atl1c )
I have a Asus N61J laptop, and am using the AR9285 driver. The laptop has dual-boot, and in Windows the wireless is stable, no downtime experienced so far. In Ubuntu, it will stay connected anywhere from a couple of minutes - up to a couple of hours - and then it just stops working. There's no sign in network manager that it has stopped working, I just notice that all network activity fails. Then I disconnect and reconnect, and it works again (for a while). Please let me know if there's any more information I can contribute to get this fixed. It's annoying enough to make me want to boot into Windows - for network stability. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660864 Title: Ubuntu 10.10 Atheros AR9285 Wireless disconnects ( atl1c ) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 671659] Re: Nvidia Accelerated Graphics Driver does not work in Asus N61J laptop with Hybrid Graphics Drivers
Hehe, it's true that there's been no activity, so no surprise the problem is still there! Was hoping someone would tell me what more information could be provided, or maybe suggest a solution. I'd love to try out the latest development release of Ubuntu, so I downloaded the live CD for Natty alpha 1. But when I boot from it, it shows the initial boot screen briefly, then the screen goes completely black, and the boot process seems to stop. So, if anything, the situation seems much worse than with Ubuntu 10.10 :( I don't mind testing an upstream kernel, but I need more specific instructions than what is given at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=showredirect=KernelMainlineBuilds This is new ground to me, so I need to be told specifically which debs to download and install. Can anybody comment about whether this is SUPPOSED to work? E.g. see the nvidia link i provided. If it's not supposed to work, it's a waste of time testing out different kernels. Should i run the apport-collect command on my current system? Or is it only valuable after I get a working natty version? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671659 Title: Nvidia Accelerated Graphics Driver does not work in Asus N61J laptop with Hybrid Graphics Drivers -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 671659] [NEW] Nvidia Accelerated Graphics Driver does not work in Asus N61J laptop with Hybrid Graphics Drivers
Public bug reported: There seems to be a problem getting Ubuntu to use the nvidia card of laptops with hybrid graphics drivers. My Asus N61J has an Intel card and an Nvidia card. For some other Asus models, there is a workaround (which includes changing a hard drive parameter in the BIOS): http://wiki.daviddarts.com/Ubuntu_Maverick_on_the_Asus_UL30VT This workaround does not work for me. The BIOS option is similar, but not the same, and I tried changing to IDE (which was the only alternative to the default), but no change. I bought this laptop because I thought nvidia cards were supposed to be a safe choice, if you want to run Linux. But no :( There is a discussion about the problem here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9429844 It indicates that the Intel card can use GLX, but it doesn't work for me. My lspci output is similar to that in the first posting in the thread, with 2 lines of output. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nvidia Accelerated Graphics Driver does not work in Asus N61J laptop with Hybrid Graphics Drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671659 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 467236] Re: iwl3945 Failed to get channel info for channel 140 after upgrade to karmic
It seems to be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/431166 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/464591 - but I don't think it's a duplicate, since none of them mention the Failed to get channel info for channel 140 error message... I tried booting into kernel .28 (instead of .31), and that worked. I then changed xorg.conf from nvidia driver to nv driver, and booted into .31 - that worked! But using the Proprietary Drivers dialog to activate NVidia didn't seem to work (it would say downloading and installing, but afterwards still show it as inactive - even if xorg.conf had been updated to use the nvidia driver). Rebooting .31 with the nvidia driver gave the same problem as described above. So, while it clearly is related to xorg and nvidia, I need suggestions to get any closer to a solution... ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = xorg-server (Ubuntu) -- iwl3945 Failed to get channel info for channel 140 after upgrade to karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/467236 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 467236] [NEW] iwl3945 Failed to get channel info for channel 140 after upgrade to karmic
Public bug reported: My Dell Latitude D620 was running Jaunty fine. Today, I ran Update Manager to upgrade to Karmic. The upgrade went fine, until it was all done and requested a reboot. After the reboot, the screen went to text mode and kept flickering. The text that's flickering is something like /tmp is waiting for (null) /{mount point} is waiting for {some-long-id} ...etc... I then rebooted using Ctrl-Alt-Del and chose recovery mode. Now it just prints the following error, every 2 mins: iwl3945 :0c:00.0: Failed to get channel info for channel 140[0] It gives me a menu, but it's overwritten by the above msgs...and it's not very responsive. OK, so I tested a bit more. Let me first correct what I wrote earlier. The installer goes through all of its 7 steps. After the 7th step, when I click Forward to start installation, a new window quickly pops up before it disappears. And then there is no more sign of the installer. I also tried the option to use the entire disk, so it's not just a problem with the manual partitioning option. -- Installer exits after selecting partitions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453482 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 408138] [NEW] Function keys F1-F12 not working
Public bug reported: I've had this problem through a few Ubuntu releases (so I can't quite tell which release it appeared in), but now it's annoyed me enough to actually file a bug report... The problem is that the function keys (F1-F12) don't do anything. If I run xev, nothing is reported for these keys. Other keys will have events reported. If I run dmesg (or tail /var/log/messages), I get a bunch of these errors: Aug 3 00:08:24 xyz kernel: [83142.203974] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xd9 on isa0060/serio0). Aug 3 00:08:24 xyz kernel: [83142.203981] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e059 keycode' to make it known. The problem seems related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/392489 - but that bug is reported as only happening sometimes. For me, it happens ALWAYS. Combinations with other keys (Alt/Ctrl/AltGr) doesn't change anything, the keys don't do anything. This means that something as simple as pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1 to drop into a tty terminal is not possible. Using showkey, I get the same result as with xev - none of these keys generate any result. Using tail -f /var/log/messages, I've found that these are the keycodes that need to be mapped: F1 - e03b F2 - e008 F3 - e007 F4 - e03e F5 - e03f F6 - e040 F7 - e041 F8 - e042 F9 - e043 F10 - e023 F11 - e057 F12 - e058 I have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard. All multimedia keys, like Play, Stop, Mute, Volume +/-, work as expected... I am running Jaunty / 9.04, but this problem was definitely there is 08.10, and probably also 08.04. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Function keys F1-F12 not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408138 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, for ME, that solution would be sufficient - and I could go back to using digikam (after waiting for 2 years) -- digikam will not start with pictures stored on either an NFS or a CIFS disk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to digikam in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 292233] Re: kdiff3 is no longer packaged in intrepid
Yes, please add this to Intrepid! As others have already said, it's by far the best diff tool around...and it's been in the repository for the last few releases...and does not depend on a full KDE desktop... -- kdiff3 is no longer packaged in intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Matthias, thank you! My sentiments, exactly... [Bug 44335] Re: IMAP/POP3+SSL/TLS are disabled
Pascal, I think you SHOULD include AZ's patch. It doesn't seem to hurt to add that option, and those not comfortable with it can just leave it unused... -- IMAP/POP3+SSL/TLS are disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44335 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 185470] Re: iwl3945 not functioning : microcode error
I just downloaded the Live CD of alpha 5 and tested it. At first, I got the same problem as Jaime Pereira - it wouldn't boot. But I rebooted and tried again, and this time I got the login window. Network Manager came up with a long list of wireless networks, one of them being my own. I selected this one, put in the passphrase and connected! YES, it worked! For the first time, since installing Hardy, I am now able to connect to a wlan with my laptop :-) -- iwl3945 not functioning : microcode error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 199620] Re: [REGRESSION] Wireless iwl3945 No Longer Works (Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 6)
I just upgraded all modules (so now running 2.6.24-18), and wireless still doesn't work on my Dell D620. The panel applet (Network Manager) shows my wireless as connected, but with no IP address and there are no other wireless points shown. Is there any work going on to make Ubuntu work again with 3945 cards (it worked flawlessly in 7.04 and 7.10) ??? -- [REGRESSION] Wireless iwl3945 No Longer Works (Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 6) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
