[Bug 848142] Re: Restarting gnome-shell renders guake unusable
@Daniel Fett: guake's behavior, in relation to gnome-shell, is not because of a crash, but because of a restart of the shell (i.e., something like Alt+F2 followed by gnome-shell --replace) ---in unity's case, it would be analogous to Alt+F2 followed by compiz --replace or something like that. If guake was already open when gnome-shell is restarted (whether hidden or not), then guake becomes somehow unusable. Whatever processes were active in guake's tabs continue without problem, but keyboard shortcuts like moving between tabs are not possible. Also, it's not possible to open new tabs either. [Bug 792709] [NEW] Gnome panel drawer applet 'shivers' with 100% CPU (and crash?) when oversized
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Increasing the width (size) of the gnome-panel 'Drawer' applet when the applet is on the far edge of the screen past the available width until the screen edge (see screenshot, somewhat hard to describe.) when the drop-down menu (the whole point of the drawer app) is open causes the drop-down to go absolutely crazy and shake back and forth with 100% CPU usage, making the system totally non-responsive. In my case, the gnome-panel was 54px tall (I believe the drawer applet attempts to make itself square so this means the drawer applet was 54px wide as well) and the bug occurred when the 'size'(width) of the drop- down was increased to = 44px through the properties menu of the drawer applet. Again, the attached screenshot illustrates the test-case for this, just increase the 'size' up some more and should occur. I have not tested with any other sizes of the panel aside from the mentioned 54px, but I have a hunch this is some kind of an edge case, because when I hit 44px wide, the button to increase the size in the properties windows grayed out, but this did not matter as the system had just became unresponsive. Holy wow, I just tested this again to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it totally crashed the entirety of gnome. Had to reboot the whole system because gnome was totally non-responsive and messed up everywhere when I logged in again before the reboot. Wow. Nautilus is having trouble with some of my CDs. Some of them are shown as Blank CD-R Disc, and even though they're not blank. [Bug 554393] Re: nm-applet will not connect using vpnc plugin
I'm running Debian and I have the same problem, and I found that un- checking the Available to all users box fixes it for me. When that box is un-checked, I get a GUI dialog box prompting me for my user password, and upon putting it in I can connect successfully. So it sounds like a problem with dbus or maybe X permissions when that box is checked. Hope that narrows down the problem and is a viable workaround for most people. -- nm-applet will not connect using vpnc plugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 526770] Re: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/mm/slub.c:2929!
Hi Jeremy, I've just updated to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the problem still persists. I've submitted the information report using apport-collect -p linux 526770. What I'm trying to do now is to test the upstream mainline kernel. I've installed the kernel but when I boot into it, It says Failed to load NVIDIA module. Looks like the NVIDIA module is missing from this kernel. I cant test the pedals without NVIDIA kernel because my flight sim requires the NVIDIA drivers. I'm assuming its the NVIDIA driver. When I try to start the flight sim I get this message: Xlib: extension GLX missing on display :1.0. Whoah -- no matter how hard I tried, I failed to get a GLX visual. Re: [Bug 526770] Re: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/mm/slub.c:2929!
Hi Jeremy, Thanks for the update. I can provide the information requested. What development version of Ubuntu do you want me to try, 9.10 or 10.04? I'd like to try with a newer development version of 9.10 (if there is one) so that I know the rest of my setup will work. However, if thats not possible I can try and update to 10.04. Please let me know. thanks, Jhn On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 9:59 PM, Jeremy Foshee jeremy.fos...@canonical.comwrote: Hi John, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 526770 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .
