[Bug 1907782] Re: ERROR Service took too long to respond. Disconnecting client.

2021-11-30 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
For me, this happens systematically after waking up from suspend (and I
need to suspend my desktop computer because of energy consumption)

Same "Service took too long to respond. Disconnecting client." when
doing an apt update or zsys-gc.service.

Restarting zsysd.service and zsysd.socket doesn't restore normal
behavior. Only a reboot does.

[Bug 1892648] Re: VM eating twice the memory allocated

2020-08-25 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Hang on. Does the "free" command has a bug too ? I mean, top, htop, free
all are showing 72gb of used memory whereas the guest really is using
8gb. It is the first time this happens in two year of service. None of
my other servers are behaving this way.

[Bug 1892648] [NEW] VM eating twice the memory allocated

Public bug reported:

I have a Centos 7 VM running in Ubuntu, on a Lenovo Thinksystem server.

[Bug 1806517] Re: Ghostscript segmentation fault onb PDF using -dFirstPage and -dLastPage

2018-12-03 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
NOTE: This won't survive an apt upgrade and may raise security issues
(gs has been update to 9.26 because of security issues, see
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/g/ghostscript/ghostscript_9.26~dfsg+0-0ubuntu0.18.04.1/changelog)

As a temporary workaround one can downgrade.

For xenial (ubuntu 16.04):

# apt install libgs9-common=9.18~dfsg~0-0ubuntu2
libgs9=9.18~dfsg~0-0ubuntu2 ghostscript=9.18~dfsg~0-0ubuntu2

For bionic (ubuntu 18.04):

# apt install libgs9-common=9.22~dfsg+1-0ubuntu1
libgs9=9.22~dfsg+1-0ubuntu1 ghostscript=9.22~dfsg+1-0ubuntu1

For cosmic (ubuntu 18.10):

# apt install libgs9-common=9.25~dfsg+1-0ubuntu1
libgs9=9.25~dfsg+1-0ubuntu1 ghostscript=9.25~dfsg+1-0ubuntu1

[Bug 1806517] [NEW] Ghostscript segmentation fault onb PDF using -dFirstPage and -dLastPage

2018-12-03 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Public bug reported:

In order to convert a PDF file in PNG I use the command:

» convert "myfile.pdf[0]" test.png

Which gives this error:

convert-im6.q16: FailedToExecuteCommand `'gs' -sstdout=%stderr -dQUIET -dSAFER
-dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dNOPROMPT -dMaxBitmap=5 -dAlignToPixels=0

'-r72x72' -dFirstPage=1 -dLastPage=1
'-sOutputFile=/tmp/magick-11774WIkYdVETEs9I%d'
'-f/tmp/magick-11774JZhknqCDhkN0' '-f/tmp/magick-11774twGtf-JFihri'' (-1) @
error/delegate.c/ExternalDelegateCommand/462.
convert-im6.q16: no images defined `test.png' @

So I tried using ghostscript directly:

[Bug 1779971] Re: phpMyAdmin configuration not comptatible with default Apache 2 config

2018-07-03 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
As a side note, in a 16.04>18.04 upgrade path, it can make a server
admin loose a lot of time figuring out what is going on with file
uploads.

The default mod_reqtimeout configuration even breaks file uploads in
Wordpress websites.

[Bug 1779971] [NEW] phpMyAdmin configuration not comptatible with default Apache 2 config

2018-07-03 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Public bug reported:

Apache 2 now comes with mod_reqtimeout enabled by default.

In a default Apache2 + PHP FPM + Phpmyadmin, it isn't possible to upload
any file in pĥpMyAdmin

Regardless of file size it triggers a:

408 Request Timeout
Server timeout waiting for the HTTP request from the client.

Disabling the module fixes the issue.

My though is that /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf needs a proper
mod_reqtimeout configuration.

[Bug 1779238] [NEW] Mouting a disk or iso image asks for sudo password

2018-06-28 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Public bug reported:

This issue is simple to reproduce on a fresh 18.04 install:

- right click an iso image and select "Open with disk image mounter" (or
double click as it is the default action)

and/or:

- issue the command `gnome-disk-image-mounter image.iso`

The resulting is a dialog asking for the user's password and the message
"Authentification is required to modify the loop device /dev/loop22"

It is a show stopper for me as I use gnome-disk-image-mounter in an
automated way.

[Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB

2017-06-18 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
16.04 64bit 4.8.0-54-generic #57~16.04.1-Ubuntu affected too. N551JK
(ASUS-NotebookSKU)

The workaround in #6 doesn't fix the system being very laggy while
copying files over USB. Maybe a tad better but huge lags still happen.

[Bug 1543381] Re: Brother Scanner do not work when USB ports are set to XHCI

2016-02-11 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
apport information

** Description changed:

  I own a Brother DCP-357C all-in-one printer and scanner.

When the default mode for XHCI is set (smart auto) or if I set it to
ENABLED, I can print on my printer but cannot scan.

If I disable the XHCI mode, I can print and scan but I can't enjoy USB
3.0 Superspeed transfers to my USB 3.0 drives and pen drive.

The printer is connected using an USB2 cable. I tried a USB2 Hub with no
  success either.

[Bug 1543381] [NEW] Brother Scanner do not work when USB ports are set to XHCI

2016-02-08 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Public bug reported:

I own a Brother DCP-357C all-in-one printer and scanner.

When the default mode for XHCI is set (smart auto) or if I set it to
ENABLED, I can print on my printer but cannot scan.

If I disable the XHCI mode, I can print and scan but I can't enjoy USB
3.0 Superspeed transfers to my USB 3.0 drives and pen drive.

The printer is connected using an USB2 cable. I tried a USB2 Hub with no
success either.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

  Hello,

When transferring files from an FTP server (TLS or not) to an SMB share,
Filezilla keeps freezing which leads down to very much slower transfers
  ...

Looking at resources usage, the gvfs-smb process works hard (60% cpu

[Bug 1264400] [NEW] Usb-creator-gtk crashes after pushing the Make startup disk button

2013-12-26 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Public bug reported:

Whether I use my laptop running 13.04 or my desktop PC running 13.10, I
am unable to create a bootable USB drive from any ISO image, even images
like 9.04 that used to work fine.

- I tried multiple USB keys
- I checked MD5 sums
- Unetbootbin does the job

There is no specific error shown on the command line and the message is
only Installation failed (translated from french as launching usb-
creator-gtk with LANG=C gives an error)

The error shows up straight away without a delay after pressing the
Make startup disk button.
