[Bug 1561250] Re: Xenial vagrant image is missing its hostname in /etc/hosts

2016-04-06 Thread Leo Tindle
Adding the following line to /etc/hosts will work around this issue:

127.0.1.1 ubuntu-xenial

According to Ubuntu's profile on https://atlas.hashicorp.com/ubuntu/,
bugs should be filed on the cloud-images project
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-images).

[Bug 1204580] [NEW] Unstable Ethernet connection

2013-07-24 Thread Leo Tindle
Public bug reported:

When using the ethernet port on my laptop using the standard network
manager, there are periodic drops in connectivity. The network manager
will not report that it is disconnected, but ping don't come back for
periods around 90 seconds when events occur. These events occur every
few minutes.

Originally reported that I had the same issue as #1176370, but was requested to
file a new bug report. The following is what I had commented on that bug. I
followed the recommendation to try the latest kernel image, but uninstalled the
mainline kernel when it did not fix the issue
--
@penalvch: I've been having the same problem myself after a fresh install of
Ubuntu 13.04. I tried the kernel at the link you provided. My uname now
reports: Linux glaedr 3.11.0-031100rc1-generic #201307141935 SMP Sun Jul 14
23:36:57 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

The issue still remains even with this kernel. I also noticed that I
don't have to disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable. If i just
wait a minute, it will reconnect. Doing a ping, it looked like exactly
90 seconds of downtime between connections. It does not show that the
connection is lost, just loosing packets. Same with downloads.. it will
continue after a while, but not for long. I have a Gateway (Acer) NV17
with the stock atl1c driver loaded. Please let me know if there is any
other information I can provide. For now, wifi works fine, but I need my
ethernet connection for bonding my VMs to a development lan...

[Bug 1168441] Re: rhyhtmbox: high cpu-usage when playing music from second hard drive

2013-07-23 Thread Leo Tindle
I have a similar issue. I have a AMD A8 quad core laptop with 8gb RAM,
fresh install of Ubuntu 13.04. In my case, my primary drive is an SSD
and my secondary drive (also mounted in the laptop) is a standard HDD.
All the music is on the secondary HDD and it /is/ auto-mounted at boot.
Every time I start rhythmbox up, rhythmbox-metadata takes up 25% CPU
(100% of one core). This does not appear to be an issue with changing
files while rhythmbox is closed. It already loaded the entire collection
(6198 songs, 56.8gb) but still it takes 100% CPU. I did not have this
problem when I was using amarok on Kubuntu 12.10.

If it makes any difference, I have a symlink from /home/username/Music
on the SSD to /media/store/media/Music, which is the location of the
music on the HDD.

Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.

[Bug 1072406] Re: /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-calendar-factory consume 99% cpu

2012-11-07 Thread Leo Tindle
I, too, am having to deal with evolution-calendar-factory taking up
between 96% and 100% CPU, apparently started by the lightdm user. I've
also had several evolution-related crashes, but after the first 5 times,
i just set it to ignore. I am running a fresh install of 12.10 64bit on
an AMD A8 laptop. I use gnome-shell and the only calendar connection I
use is to my google calendar. HTH

[Bug 1072469] Re: Black screen when capturing selection

2012-10-31 Thread Leo Tindle
Also running Gnome Shell with fglrx-update. Here is something else that
may help: when I take a desktop screenshot, only what was on my primary
display is black, while my secondary display shows just fine. Capturing
a window on my secondary display also works, but not on the primary
display.

[Bug 967879] Re: hud-service has a memory leak (I think)

2012-03-29 Thread Leo Tindle
I often have to reboot every day after leaving my laptop on over night
(12.04 up to date). I've seen it go as high as 1.4GB for me. I use
Eclipse, Chrome, and Thunderbird along with KVM for virtualization if
that helps. As of this minute, my hud-service is at 457mb with an
uptime of 21h, as reported by the System Monitor. System is an AMD
A8-3500M laptop with 8GB RAM and AMD's fglrx driver with Catalyst 12.02.

[Bug 804662] Re: jockey-gtk crashed with TypeError in _execute_child(): execv() arg 2 must contain only strings

Experienced same error on Beta 1. Installed fresh from Alternate 64bit
today and ran the prompted Partial Upgrade after first boot. All
packages are now current. Installing fglrx on AMD APU A8-3500M on a
