[Bug 1947210]

2022-04-10 Thread L-me-0
I can confirm with the user directly above that I am experiencing the
same behaviour on 22.04. If it's any clue as to what has happened, the
flatpak version of Firefox works absolutely fine. It's just the snap
version.

[Bug 1857775]

2022-03-15 Thread me
I have issues with 5GHz wifi APs using the AX201 in a Lenovo Thinkpad X1
Yoga (gen 6). Sometimes I need to reboot the laptop because connection
is just too slow. Rebooting fixes the issue for a while. My logs are
full of messages like the ones mentioned above. I copy just in case.

kernel: iwlwifi :00:14.3: Unhandled alg: 0x707

I can understand packet injection is not a priority and this [1] will
never get fixed), but this issue, and others involving bluetooth sudden
disconnections, are simply not acceptable.

[Bug 684982]

2020-12-10 Thread Me-x6
hi Kestrel, thank you for the reply.

still no luck with dynamic workspaces disabled (confirmed the setting
was correct also via "Tweaks" app, and set my static workspaces to a
larger number than what i'm actively using (using 4 out of available 6).

a few notes which may be relevant:

- i am using Gnome Shell on wayland as my window manager
- this is a laptop with an external monitor, the laptop lid is closed; monitor
is the primary/only display
- i am running Debian Bullseye with the firefox package installed from
unstable/sid.
- i am launching firefox with wayland support via `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1`
- laptop screen builtin scaling is different from monitor (2x vs. 1x
respectively)

here are my reproduction steps:

1) boot to GDM (wayland)
2) login to Gnome Shell (wayland)
3) open firefox 83.0
4) arrange windows on static workspaces (1-4 out of six total)
5) log out back to GDM
6) log in
7) ensure displays are configured as before
8) switch to workspace 1
9) launch firefox with `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1`

i have also tested replacing steps 5-7 with simply exiting firefox via
Ctrl+Q.

expected behavior: windows are restored to where they were prior to
logout

actual behavior: all windows are restored to workspace 1. sizes are
correct, but x/y positions and workspace are incorrect.

[Bug 684982]

2020-12-03 Thread Me-x6
sorry to revive a dead thread, but is this expected to work on Firefox
83.0 (build id 20201112153044) + Gnome 3.38 + Wayland/DRM?

when restoring my session, all Firefox windows are created on the first
workspace.

does a setting or feature flag need to be enabled to take advantage of
this?

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2017-05-24 Thread You Expected Name But It's Me,
Regards from Kaliningrad, Russia

That bug is being fixed here partially by now, see below.

Just to make sure, I visited some PC shops around and, to my surprise,
found some computers with Ubuntu and few with FreeDOS (and, as
consultant said, any linux distro from list could be installed for
free).

The fun is what some own Linux distro is used (AFAIK) by Russian Ministry of
Internal Affairs, and there is military Rosa linux (totally shitty from what I
heard but still).
If only we could make schools to teach students to use Linux systems instead,
that would change the game.

I estimate the prevalence of free software in education here as about
15-18%, maybe 25% based on what I see in university.

[Bug 1651216] Re: Lubuntu 16.10 64bit installation crash at partition step

2016-12-19 Thread Me :)
I actually succeeded in performing the installation, with the media I had.
I already check the integrity of the iso I downloaded and it was OK.
The onlly thing I changed in the way of installing is that I used gparted prior
to launching the installation to erase all partition I could have on my disk.
(booting on the Live CD)
Then the installation occured without any issue.

What may caused the problem is that the 1st partition was actually a
"backup" one, used by the manufacturer

bump! definitely a repeatable issue albeit sporadically. lost another
system on reboot - no default gateway installed although it's set in
/e/n/i. have to manually add route via rc.local and symlink
/etc/resolv.conf.d/resolv.conf original to tail as workarounds.

[Bug 1628552] Re: on startup gateway & dns- options in /etc/network/interfaces are not always set

2016-09-28 Thread just me
well i've now been able to restart 3 of the 4 systems about 5-10x each
through the day. all have had their gateway and dns- settings from
/e/n/i reliably set. that is, until now. i've got one system that did
not get gateway or dns- settings.

is there a way to check for a failure status code tied to ifup or
resolvconf runs during startup?

[Bug 1628552] Re: on startup gateway & dns- options in /etc/network/interfaces are not always set

2016-09-28 Thread just me
thank you. that of course worked (apologies for not fully understanding
the parsing of the base file). interestingly enough, with that search
addition in the base file, now the settings from /etc/network/interfaces
are now showing up in resolv.conf (bogus.com is appended to the other
dns-search settings) and on 3 successive startups.

[Bug 1628552] [NEW] on startup gateway & dns- options in /etc/network/interfaces are not always set

2016-09-28 Thread just me
Public bug reported:

recently i have upgraded 4 VM-based systems to 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial
Xerus). on startup, settings within /etc/network/interfaces do not
appear to be taking effect reliably. specifically, the gateway and dns-
settings have been problematic for me. on subsequent restarts, all or
some of the settings take effect other times the gateway is set and the
dns- options are not set. very problematic when the default gateway is
not added to the routing table.

the dns- settings were a bit easier to illustrate the issue. i added a
comment to /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base (# base) &
etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail (# tail).

$ cat /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/*
# base
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
# tail

on startup on 1 of the systems showed this:
$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
# tail

you can see the "# base" comment wasn't added.
let me know if i can add anymore details or if this should be posted somewhere
else.

[Bug 1579712] Re: Refresh hangs indefinitely, appstreamcli using 100% CPU

2016-05-20 Thread Me
#24 worked for me BUT with the addition of removing leftover lock files first:

sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock
sudo rm /var/cache/apt/archives/lock

Dangerous if anything apt related still running - but I think a lot of
people will CTRL-C their way out of "apt-get update" of somehow try to
kill a hung update-manager.

[Bug 1545776] Re: 14.04 kernel does not log exec properly and aa-logprof fails

2016-04-14 Thread Me
On Ubuntu 15.10 (4.2.0-16-generic) aa-genprof creates a similarly broken
profile.

On Ubuntu 16.04 beta 2 (4.4.0-15-generic) the "name" field is now
present in syslog when operation="exec" and aa-genprof gives
/usr/bin/find cx permission and creates a child profile. Running the
profile in enforce mode is successful.

Any chance whatever was done to fix it in the kernel can be backported
to 14.04 and 12.04 since most users will probably be stuck with those
versions for a long time to come?

[Bug 1540194] [NEW] OpenGL stutter and freeze when rotation = Counterclockwise

2016-01-31 Thread Me
Public bug reported:

My PC is an Intel Core I3 and I use the built-in HD 4600 graphics. My
display is 1680x1050, connected via DVI-D, Ubuntu version is 15.10
64-bit.

I do a fresh Ubuntu install and install and run glmark2. The horse spins
smoothly.

I set "System settings -> Displays -> Rotation" to "Counterclockwise",
rotate my display and run glmark2 again. The horse totally stutters.

When the rotation is "Counterclockwise" other OpenGL applications will
even freeze.

[Bug 1169243]

2015-01-30 Thread Me-ngeefk4xayt3t4u9watah405ve
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

The Nepomuk project is no longer included in the KDE Software
Compilation. With Plasma 5, we have replaced most of the underlying
technology with Baloo and other components. Hopefully this will have
addressed your concern.

We encourage you to try out Plasma 5 (+Baloo) and let us know if your
problem persists.

[Bug 41301]

2014-12-12 Thread T8-me-7l
I can confirm this issue on a Thinkpad T420, both on a freshly installed
Ubuntu 14.10 and Kubuntu 14.10.

It first occured shortly (but not immediately) after enabling the
touchpad in the bios. Reinstalling the system or running from a live usb
did not fix it.

After disabling the touchpad again in the bios, the problem was gone
immediately.

Mouse pointer is corrupting many times per day, on the second screen it looks

Committed on 11/03/2013 at 19:45.

[Bug 912060]

2012-12-31 Thread Me-ngeefk4xayt3t4u9watah405ve
Confirmed.

Crash virtuoso when some operations are going on in the storage service.
The main repository's parent will be set as 0, and then reset to the new
virtuoso model. In the middle the other threads can access it and they
assert cause the parent of the model = 0.

This can probably be fixed with a mutex. I'm not sure exactly how to go
about it.

2012-12-03 Thread Me-ngeefk4xayt3t4u9watah405ve
It seems that one of Soprano::FilterModels does not have a parent, and
is asserting cause of that. That is weird cause all the models always
have parents, and their parents never ever change.

I'm not sure what to do of this bug report.

[Bug 25830]

2012-10-22 Thread Me-shadsterling
I suggested a more general solution in bug 185618 comment 61 (about
adding an option to render content in Firefox whenever Save As comes
up immediately).

I suggest using an error/info page for content of a type for which there
is no handler or for content for which the handler fails, so anytime
Save As comes up there is some content behind it. In the case of an
unknown type, the error/info page would appear as a placeholder, which
would prevent unknown types from cutting off user activity, and make
room for a separate Reinterpret Content sheet with which the user
could override the provided content-type to one which Firefox can
render.

[Bug 263435]

2012-09-04 Thread Me-shadsterling
Is there agreement among users as to what, exactly, the right behavior
is? Does bugzilla include a polling mechanism to ask?

It seems to me that the right behavior would be to have the browser
respond to any keys it's configured to respond to, and pass any other
keys to whatever page element has focus. If plugins rely on keys the
browser uses, the user should have the option of changing the browsers
key bindings (except in safe mode).

[Bug 905355]

2012-04-01 Thread Yatc18ks0g8zofezrpk3-me-ngeefk4xayt3t4u9wata
Oops, I did not fully understand the bug, but was able to reproduce it
just now. I will take a look into this. There was a suggestion to warn
the user if something is saved in the /tmp directory-- could I please
get a code pointer as to how to do that?

[Bug 962018] [NEW] Dual Monitor (non-mirored) wont work since Update 9th March

2012-03-22 Thread me
Public bug reported:

Start gnome-control-center Displays uncheck Mirror Displays
Apply

The following error message comes:

The selected configuration for displays could not be applied
required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(2560, 1024),
minimum=(320, 200), maximum=(1280, 1280)

Click Close

A second error message comes:

Failed to apply configuration: %s
GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._gnome_2drr_2derror_2dquark.Code3:
required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(2560, 1024),
minimum=(320, 200), maximum=(1280, 1280)

I have two monitors and they were working perfectly non-mirrored before
the update of 9th march.

Thx a lot!

[Bug 887042] Re: package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build

2011-11-07 Thread me
ok-- 99% sure i tracked it down. the hardware drivers gui has no
provision for the gcc version override option that the nvidia
285.05.09.pkg.run package offers. the official nvidia package installed
from runlevel 3 wanted to use gcc 4.6, but i had gcc 4.4. the nvidia
driver installation tool provides the option to continue and try to
build the kernel module anyway, which i did, which worked perfectly.
btw-with kernel 3.1.0, installed from kernel.org source, the nvidia
285.05.09.pkg.run doesn't throw the gcc error, it just compiles the
module and works for me.

so, this needs to be closed out, or marked solved, anyway, don't bother
with this bug report.

thanks.

[Bug 886817] [NEW] can't upgrade to latest version of ubuntu using update manager

2011-11-06 Thread me
Public bug reported:

when upgrading from version .04 to .10 with the update manager (the one
that loads on startup and asks you if you'd like to upgrade), I get the
following error message partway into the upgrade:

\\\
Could not determine the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by
held packages.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal.
\\\

I'm not on a pre-release version, neither am I updating to a pre-release
version. All of the packages I have installed (that I'm aware of) have
come either from the ubuntu store, or the synaptic package manager.

[Bug 671902] Re: apt-daemon crashed

2011-03-24 Thread me here now
Hi, my comp was dying intermittently. White flashing lines after running
smoothly. I found a thread that had this fix:
go to System, Administration, Synaptic Package Manager.
once you give it you password, look for grub.
in Ubuntu 10.04 i think it installs grub-pc automatically.
choose grub
it will intall it and uninstall grub-pc.
This seems to have fixed my OS

[Bug 174727] Re: gksu inherits current window's keyboard layout

2011-01-09 Thread What, me urgent?
This bug is still here; still confiusing people ...
With maybe one helpful, and one defintely frustrating note.

GKSU authentification window does not include keyboard layout switcher

SCENARIO:
=
1] Set a second keyboard layout (To make this easy to illustrate, pick an RTL
language, eg. hebrew or arabic)
2] Select that keyboard layout using the gnome panel applet
3] Alt+f2 to bring up the run application dialog
4] Select your original keyboard layout and type gksu foo-bar (nautilus,
gnome-terminal, synaptic, whatever)
5] Enter your password, and watch the masking characters appear RTL (wrong
keyboard layout).

There is no way to change the keyboard layout.
The only option seems to be to select cancel, which bumps the user back TWO
steps, not one, but then does allow the user to change keyboard layouts before
invoking the 'run application dialog'.

TRYING TO HELPFUL NOTE:
=
An identically-looking authentification screen appears when locking the
terminal, or putting the machine in 'suspend' state, with the exception that in
those cases, when multiple keyboard layouts have been selected, an indication
of the current keyboard layout appears to the right of the password entry
field. Clicking on that indication toggles the keyboard layout, and allows the
password to be entered correctly.

FRUSTRATION EXPRESSION NOTE:

The scenario I presented was intentionally easy to figure out. The usual case
will be of two LTR keyboards, and NO visual feedback of why the user's password
entry is being rejected.
