[Bug 1572801] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10

2016-10-12 Thread Mozg
It's got something to do with the kernel. Done a quick test using the
latest kernel 4.4.0-42-generic. Restarted my pc and logged in. Opened
terminal and mem usage was 1.8gb.

Done the same with the latest 4.8.1 kernel from ubuntu kernels page and
the usage was only 673mb.

Crazy!

[Bug 596693] Re: Lucid does not recognise full size of large hard disks

2010-07-09 Thread Mozg
Jeremy,

I've tried the same drive with 2.6.35-999-generic #201006151505 as per
the link you've sent me and I can confirm that the drive is not
recognised with the correct size either.

[Bug 596693] Re: Lucid does not recognise full size of large hard disks

2010-06-24 Thread Mozg
Jeremy,

I've installed the latest available kernel from the page that you've
sent me. It was 2.6.35-999-generic #201006151505. Is that the right one
that I should try, or should I try one from the 2.6.32 branch?

Thanks

Hi Jeremy,

I am away from home until 8th of June and don't currently have access to
the hard drive. I will test it upon my return.

Just to let you know, that this problem was present in 9.10 Ubuntu as
well.

Will keep you posted.

[Bug 596693] [NEW] Lucid does not recognise full size of large hard disks

2010-06-20 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

I have an external 4GB disk, which is not recognised properly by Ubuntu
Lucid. This disk is a raid enclosure (USB + Firewire) made of 2 x 2TB
drives. When I plug it in, dmesg shows the following output:

---begin---

---end---

Fdisk sees the drive as 2.2TB instead of 4TB:

---begin---
Command (m for help): p

Disk identifier: 0x

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 1 267350 2147483647 ee GPT
---end---

Gparted shows the same behaviour.

Same behaviour happens regardless of plugging it in using a usb or a
firewire cable.

Now, when I reboot the laptop into Windows and plug the disk in, it
works perfectly well. The windows disk manager sees it as 4TB drive with
2 MAC partitions and using MacDrive I can use the disk. I can also
access this disk from my macbook pro laptop.

Thanks

[Bug 463417] [NEW] Karmic RC mouse clicks in flash player do not work

2009-10-29 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

I've installed the Karmic RC and updated the system. Tried playing
several clips from youtube and found that mouse clicks do not work! I've
also tried Seamonkey and Epiphany - same behaviour. This is extremely
frustrating. I can right click without any problems, but left clicking
(like to pause/play/rewind, etc) does not work. It does work
occasionally when I click about 20-30 times I can manage to get one
click through. I've tried reinstall the flash player - no luck. All
previous releases of Ubuntu that I've tried do not have this problem.

Anyone experience similar issues?

[Bug 457063] [NEW] [karmic] Session is not saved properly

2009-10-21 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Karmic Beta1 updated on 20 Oct 2009. Session is not saved properly. As a
test, i've opened a Firefox browser and 7 Terminals. I've also created
15 workspaces. Each terminal has been placed in its own Workspace. I've
saved my session and logged out. When I've logged back in, the Firefox
has opened in the correct work space. However, the Terminals have been
opened all over the place. Out of 7 terminals, only 2 have been opened
in the correct workspace.

Karmic has been installed from a live DVD on a clean HD.

[Bug 457074] [NEW] [karmic] Resuming from hibernation boots into a new clean session on Thinkpad T61p

2009-10-21 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

System: Karmic Beta1 clean install from live CD with updates as of 21
Oct 2009. Laptop - Thinkpad T61p 6459-CTO.

Problem: When I hibernate my laptop (either pressing Fn+F12 or from the
menu) the systems seems to initiate hibernation and shuts off after
about a minute of HD activity. This seems normal - even takes less time
as compared with Ubuntu 8.10. However, the resuming part is not working.
When I switch the laptop back on, it starts booting. During the boot, I
have a number of entries relating to the partition checks and the laptop
just boots into a new sessions instead of bringing back the previous
session. The uptime is reset to 1 minute.

I've followed the instruction in one of the bug reports and added
resume=/dev/sda5 (my swap partition) to /etc/default/grub and ran
update-grub afterwords. No luck! Does anyone experience similar
behaviour in Karmic?

Jaunty was working fine, apart from a ridiculous amount of time required
to resume (3-5 minutes) as compared to a Windows 1-2 minutes max.

2009-10-21 Thread Mozg
Okay, here is what i've found.

Once I've switched off the Visual Effects, all my terminals have apeared
in the right workspaces. After that, I've reenabled the effects, saved
session and logged back on. The terminals are now in the right places.
It seems to me that the visual effects caused the problem, but once they
were disabled, it all started working.

[Bug 457063] Re: Session is not saved properly

2009-10-21 Thread Mozg
Okay, here is what i've found.

Once I've switched off the Visual Effects, all my terminals have apeared
in the right workspaces. After that, I've reenabled the effects, saved
session and logged back on. The terminals are now in the right places.
It seems to me that the visual effects caused the problem, but once they
were disabled, it all started working.

Thanks

[Bug 390388] [NEW] freeze and kernel panic /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq

2009-06-21 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic

After a recent system upgrade which involved kernel update i've noticed
that my laptop seems to freeze more often than usual, that is apart from
the fact that 9.04 is by far less stable compared with the previous
8.10. Now, i have to power off every couple of hours becuase of this
bug. After rebooting, I get kernel panics similar to what is listed

[Bug 351962] [NEW] jaunty session does not properly restore Terminal

2009-03-30 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Jaunty's Beta session manager does not properly restore the Terminal.
I've opened several Terminals, maximised them and placed in different
workspaces. Selected the option to automatically save sessions and
logged out. After the login, only one Terminal was launched in normal
size (not maximised). A very annoying bug as I have to open about a
dozen of Terminals in various desktops every time I login. Surely I am
not the only one that has to do it with every login!

[Bug 351280] [NEW] Authentication with thinkfinger stalls login when user homes are encrypted

2009-03-29 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

When authenticating to the system with thinkfinger, the user encrypted
home directories are not automatically mounted. Even though this makes
total sense, since you will need to supply the password to unlock the
encryption key. Having said this, the user should be prompted for the
password in case if he/she is authenticated using thinkfinger or similar
method. What happens now is when login to gdm using finger swipe, gdm
starts loading and nothing happens. No message/warning is displayed. The
user just sits there starring at a black screen :-)

Re: [Bug 276990] Re: iwlagn causes kernel panic on 802.11n wifi

2008-12-06 Thread Mozg
I can confirm that -10 kernel seems to fix the kernel panics. I was able
to work for over 10 hours so far without a single crash. So far so good.

On a side note, did anyone manage to get a good speed out of 802.11n?
The output of iwconfig shows up to 60mbit/s even though I am sitting
next to wifi router. Is it only me?

Are you using 802.11n by any chance?

[Bug 275359] Re: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.27/drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwl-tx.c:1198 and subsequent panic

2008-11-30 Thread Mozg
I have the same issue with the latest kernel on amd64 and backport
modules installed. My setup is as following:

Wi-Fi Router: SMC 802.11n with 20/40Mhz / WPA-PSK
Intel 4965 wifi card
Thinkpad 61p 6459CTO

What I've noticed is after connecting to the router, authentication
succeeds and I get IP address. However, I can not ping the router for
some reason. Iwconfig shows that I am authenticated and shows the
encryption key. If I run ping -f -s 1 router ip for about a minute
or so I would get the kernel bug in my syslog. Shortly (10-15 seconds)
after the kernel bug my pings start working and I get icmp replies from
the router. I have to do this every time when I reboot and every time
prior to connection actually starts to work I get the kernel bug.

The bug information is attached in files.tar.bz2

I have the following backport modules installed:
linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-9-generic 2.6.27-9.5
linux-backports-modules-intrepid 2.6.27.9.13
linux-backports-modules-intrepid-generic 2.6.27.9.13

2008-11-29 Thread Mozg
I've tried the latest firmware release from the earlier post and I can confirm
that the kernel panic still happens with heavy use of network (torrent at about
600kb of download). I am using the latest amd64 kernel 2.6.27-9.

After the latest update of the kernel I got panics again. But I've got
linux-image-2.6.27-8-generic installed, so is the panic due to something
else??

They're ba-ack.

With a patch at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/286285/comments/52
and later a 2.6.27-8 kernel update in backports (mentioned later in bug
286285), I was avoiding kernel panics on 802.11n networks. Now with
2.6.27-9, the panics are back. I am able to work around them by turning
off the 802.11n capabilities of my router.

I'll check the latest module and report shortly. This is driving me
insane and I think it is very lame for ubuntu team not to test the
modules before releasing 8.10! It is not like there is only one 802.11n
router on the market and Intel wifi cards are very scarce.

[Bug 276990] Re: iwlagn causes kernel panic on 802.11n wifi

2008-11-18 Thread Mozg
I do experience kernel panic when using 802.11n router. I have tried the
following, but crashes are still there:

1. disabled 802.11n by using options iwlagn 11n_disable=1
2. installed backports (linux-backports-modules-intrepid-generic,
linux-backports-modules-intrepid and linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic)

I did notice that with backports module my connection becomes somewhat
unstable. I would associate and authenticate with the AP, get the IP
address through DHCP, however, I can't ping anything. If i run as root
ping -f -s 65507 router ip, after about 10-60 seconds I would get the
connectivity and wireless seems to work until either a kernel panic or a
disconnect.

I have taken a picture with my cam of the console screen with the last
part kernel panic screen, which is attached to this email.

My laptop is Lenovo T61p 6459CTO with Intel 4965 abgn card.

My system is (latest updates):
lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 8.10
Release:8.10
Codename: intrepid

uname -a
Linux finka 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:06 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

nothing interesting is shown in kern.log at the time of the crash

Hope the information helps to determine the problem

I've installed the PPA version of network manager and I still don't have

Where are these options located?

Well, the reason why i have opened this bug was the lack of the ability
to alter default route and disable the use of vpn dns servers from the
pptp installation wizard or configuration menu. These options were a
part of 0.6 network manager and are lacking in 0.7.

[Bug 291594] [NEW] Intrepid metacity's keyboard shortcuts are not working properly

Public bug reported:

On Intrepid, after loging into gnome session the keyboard shortcuts are
not working at all. For example, trying to switch between workspaces
does nothing. I can change the keyboard shortcuts in the keyboard

[Bug 276482] Re: ipw2200 - Network manager fails to get network address dhcp

2008-10-31 Thread Mozg
I have the same problem, but in my case i can't connect to wireless and
wired network using Automatic IP via DHCP. If i set the IP details
manually, everything is working fine and i _always_ get connected.
Initially i though that there is a problem with dhcp, however, i can
obtain dhcp lease by manually running dhclient interface. Just to
verify, when connecting to wireless interface, i use wpa2-psk and I can
obtain the key from the AP after looking at the output of iwconfig.
While the network manager tries to get the IP address, i've tried
running dhclient wlan0 and successfully obtained dhcp lease. The recent
updates did not solve the problem (31/10/2008).

[Bug 249373] Re: gnome session does not start window manager nor restores the previous session

2008-10-28 Thread Mozg
I agree that this bug should be a high priority fix as many users of
previous releases are used to this option and expect it to work in the
next release. I have this problem and it is _very_ annoying!

[Bug 289854] [NEW] intrepid freezes after pressing undock button on T61p

2008-10-27 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic

Pressing undock button on the docking station on Lenovo T61p 6459CTO
completely freezes computer. Even Alt SysRq does not work. The same
behaviour happens when I simply eject the laptop from the docking
station without pressing the undock button. However, while docked, I can
suspend my laptop, undock and then resume it and everything would work
fine. Computer would wake up and function normally without any issues.

My system information (latest updates as of 27/10/2008):

[Bug 278309] [NEW] intrepid network-manager-pptp does not have essential options

2008-10-04 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-pptp

The 0.7 version of network-manager-pptp does not have enough
configuration options. The previous versions had the option to disable
the use of VPN DNS servers and disable the default gateway through the
VPN connection. These options are not longer available under the
network-manager-pptp configuration wizard and I think they should be
available under the advanced settings.

[Bug 271785] [NEW] Thinkpad freezes when power is unplugged from docking station

2008-09-18 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

I've seen several posts relating to docking station issues, however,
this issue seems to be different. I have been using Thinkpad T61p with
the docking station for sometime and never seen any problems or freezes
when docking/undocking. However, today i've unplugged the power cable
from the docking station while the laptop was docked and noticed that
computer froze; pressing Alt SysRq S/U/K/T/B/O doesn't do anything and
only a hard reboot works. I've tried unplugging the power cable again,
once the system has booted, and had the crash for the second time. So
this behaviour can be easily reproduced and not just one off thing.
Looking into the logs did not show anything unusual, no OOPs, no strange
events.

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-08-26 Thread Mozg
I have installed the latest nvidia drivers that come with envyng and the
suspend to ram and actually to disk started working much better. I've
been using it for 3 days now and have not had a single problem. Whereas
before, most of the time my X server would simply restart, now it is all
fine. It does take a long time to resume though. Resuming from ram takes
30 seconds now and resume from suspend to disk takes about 3-4 minutes.
Most of the time computer sits idle without any visible activity.

The drivers that made the difference were installed using envyng and they are:
 nvidia-glx-new-envy 173.14.12+2.6.24.503-503.30

try it out and see if it makes a difference for you

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-08-07 Thread Mozg
I've tried all of the things listed in here and in various sites to sort
out this problem, but none of the solutions seems to help me. What I am
experiencing is resuming from suspend to ram works properly only about
30% of the time. During the successful resume, everything is working
fine, including wireless/wired network connectivity. However, most of
the time, then resuming my X session restarts with a clean gdm login and
I have to relogin and reopen all the programs again, which obviously
makes the suspend to ram useless.

I've spent a few months trying to figure out if there is a consistency
of some sort that reproduces the successful or unsuccessful resume,
however, I couldn't find any correlation. I even tried to open a clean
gnome session with no open programs apart from what comes default. Even
with that i have occasionally successfull resumes, but most of the time
I end up with restarted X server.

I am a disappointed with what seems to work perfectly fine on Ubuntu
7.10 when I have never had a failed resume from suspend when I even
tried suspending while playing 3D games, watching movies, copying files
across wireless/wired network and with Ubuntu 8.04 it is a complete
mess.

The worst thing is despite so many people are having issues with
suspend/resuming to RAM, ubuntu development team is doing nothing to fix
the problem. Even this bug is in Undecided state!

[Bug 217846] Re: Slow suspend/resume in Hardy

2008-05-25 Thread Mozg
cdiggity: I was wondering if you could post your xorg.conf and lspci
-vv files as well. Actually, under 10 seconds resume/suspend is
excellent, as even when I had Edgy installed, I was never achieving
these times. To be honest, I am finding Hardy very dissapointing when
it comes to hardware support. My performance/stability in Edgy was
better. suspend/resume has never failed on T61p, whereas in Hardy it
works fine at its best 3 times out of 10 (( and I was never able to
successfully resume when connected to a docking station. My mate on
the exact hardware on Gentoo has no problems in 2.6.24 kernel.

My suspend / resume times are under 10s at the moment. I don't know
what has changed but something has made a difference. I've attached
my
acpi-support file in case this can be helpful to anyone. I haven't
changed this file since May4th so my now fast resumes are not due to
any
recent changes I have made in acpi-support.

What i have noticed is that I get a slow resume from suspend when my

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-05-01 Thread Mozg
Hi
I thought I have managed to fix the suspend issues by using the acpi-support
script that Andy pointed out
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14044012/acpi-support . I've tried that script
and resuming from suspend no longer crashes computer. However, the successful
resume happens only once in 5 times. Most of the time, I have X server
restarting and asking me to login again.

Andy, could you please post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, as i have a
fear that I am missing a few options there.

[Bug 216544] Re: [hardy] notebook freezes with kismet

2008-04-30 Thread Mozg
I have the same problem with iwl4965 wireless card on Hardy amd64 on
Thinkpad T61p. It has been working perfectly in 7.10 but after the
upgrade i get kernel panic as soon as I launch the kismet. The laptop
freezes and the oops is not recorded anywhere. You can see the full
report if you run kismet from console, not from the X.

[Bug 217846] Re: Slow suspend/resume in Hardy

2008-04-30 Thread Mozg
Thanks to Andy Goossens from Bug 217841
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/217841) for posting the acpi-
default config file from Thinkwiki I have managed to fix the the slow
suspend/resume. I am now back to about 12-13 seconds to sleep and about
13-15 seconds to resume. That is relatively fast comparing to what it
was before. However, I am wondering how Windows + Lenovo drivers manages
to resume in about 5 seconds?

[Bug 217938] Re: Hardy pm-hibernate oops on Thinkpad T61p

2008-04-30 Thread Mozg
I have managed to fix the suspend issue by using proper acpi-suspend
configuration ( http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14044012/acpi-support ).
However hibernation still produce the oops. I would be very happy to
help debigging process as hibernation is very important to me and i
would like to get this fixed.

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-04-29 Thread Mozg
For me the the script doesn't work. I've tried using force and without
force as well. No change in behaviour - the laptop resumes with black
screen. Only Alt+SysRq can reboot the laptop. Could anyone provide the
/etc/default/acpi-support file with working hibernate or suspend. I have
attached my file to compare

Thanks

[Bug 222116] [NEW] mnogosearch multiple configuration errors

2008-04-25 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mnogosearch-common

When trying to install mnogosearch-mysql and mnogosearch-common I have
experienced multiple issues. First of all, it did not install due to
multiple files being overwritten by mnogosearch-common that belonged to
mnogosearch-mysql. Such as:

dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/mnogosearch-common_3.3.6-1_all.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/share/mnogosearch/tables/cache/create.single.sql',
which is also in package mnogosearch-mysql
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

After forcing overwriting it installed fine, but i've noticed some issues with
the configuration using mysql as the backend database. When you choose to
automatically create the database and specify root user and password, the
installer for some reason does not use the password at all. I get a lot of
similar output:

SQL'DROP TABLE url'
{../../src/sqldbms.c:2269} Query: DROP TABLE url

MySQL driver: #1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using
password: NO)

SQLSQLSQLSQLSQLSQLSQL'CREATE TABLE srvinfo (srv_id int NOT
NULL,sname text NOT NULL,sval text NOT NULL,KEY

{../../src/sqldbms.c:2269} Query: CREATE TABLE srvinfo (srv_id int NOT
NULL,sname text NOT NULL,sval text NOT NULL,KEY
srvinfo_id (srv_id) )

MySQL driver: #1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-04-17 Thread Mozg
I have noticed that my suspend has stopped working again! I've tried
suspending several times and did manage to resume from it. I can switch
between consoles, but can't enter anything, although several Fn+ keys
seems to work, like switching wireless on/off. I guess we'll have to
wait for the Hardy to come out to report the bug as many things are
changing and it is very hard to pinpoint what has caused the problem in
the recent update.

[Bug 217841] [NEW] Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-04-15 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

After the recent update (13/04/2008) the suspend to ram stopped working
on Thinkpad T61p. Prior to upgrade suspend to ram was working fine.

Hibernate, on the other had, was never working properly as system just
would not resume into working X. I could switch between consoles and see
the contents of the screen, but I could not type anything, but strangely
enough the switching between different consoles was working fine. As
soon as I try to switch to X, my system freezes with only Alt+SysRq
could switch it off.

I am using amd64 Hardy beta1 with full upgrades on Thinkpad T61p with
Nvidia 570M card.

[Bug 217846] [NEW] Slow suspend/resume in Hardy

2008-04-15 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

I would like to mention that I've noticed considerably slower resuming
from suspend to ram in Hardy as compared with Gutsy. I had timed the
suspend / resume on Gutsy and Hardy and notied the following trend. The
suspending timing is the same: about 12-13 seconds from pressing the
Suspend button to the system in sleep state. However, resuming takes
twice as long in Hardy. Gutsy manages to fully wake up and present the
password prompt in 14-17 seconds, where as Hardy does it in 30-40
seconds. As you can see the difference is great, taking into account
that it takes about 35-40 seconds to boot into Ubuntu from fresh boot
and resuming from sleep should be done much faster!

Just to mention that the tests were run on the same hardware: I used to
run Gutsy and about 2 weeks ago upgraded to Hardy. So, all
applications/settings/hardware was the same, including /etc/default
/acpi-support. In both cases I used nvidia proprietary drivers version
169.12 installed using envy.

could not notice any consistency in this behaviour. It happens randomly
and I've noticed this after the recent updates. I've upgraded by Hardy
beta on 09/04/2008 and it did not happen initially. After the
yesterday's upgraded i've noticed this behaviour. I do run wireless with
WPA-psk and my bluetooth is on by default but not peered with any
device. This too happens shortly after system boot

[Bug 214335] Re: Hardy Heron Live CD Won't Boot Thinkpad T61p

2008-04-13 Thread Mozg
I confirm this behaviour. Tried Hardy beta1 live cd and no joy! The Cd
boots with black screen, no splash screen at all. Nothing happens for a
while and I after a short while I have the X configuration screen at
very large resolution. I've tried doing the confir with vesa and nv
drivers. Vesa works at low res (800x600) but not higher. nv does not
seems to work at all.

The same behaviour happened in Gutsy live cd and I had to use alternate
cd to boot and install.

I did notice that after the install, vesa with higher resolution was
working and I managed to get 1920x1200 out of it. I am wondering how
come i could not make a higher resolution in the setup using vesa
drivers?

I am suprised that this problem has not been fixed on Thinkpads T61p, as
these laptops are very popular. Perhaps something to think about before
releasing Hardy 8.04.

[Bug 200509] Re: iwl4965: Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x2000000

2008-04-11 Thread Mozg
Hi

I have recently updated to amd64 Hardy 8.04 from 7.10 and started
noticing that my dmesg is full of warnings and errors related to iwl4965
module. I've installed the latest updates and linux-backports-modules-
hardy-generic package.

The errors happen every time i use the Fn+F5 switch on my Thinkpad T61p
laptop. As i remember, Fn+F5 didn't work at all on Gutsy, however, in
Hardy it seems to partially work. By partially I mean the following:
when I turn on the laptop, both wi-fi and bluetooth is enabled and leds
are on. Pressing Fn+F5 once will switch off the wireless, pressing it
again would switch off Bluetooth and once more would try to activate the
wireless again. The dmesg errors start happening when I try to switch on
wireless. The summary of dmesg errors:

[Bug 215722] [NEW] suspend to ram stopped working after upgrade to Hardy

2008-04-11 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

After a recent upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy beta 1, I have noticed that
the Suspend to Ram stopped working. I am experiencing similar simptoms
as I had in Gutsy before changing: SAVE_VBE_STATE=false,
POST_VIDEO=false in /etc/default/acpi-support and Option
NvAGP 1 in the xorg.conf file. Basically, the system goes to sleep
without any issues and stays in sleep. However, when it wakes up it
looks like it is coming back from the sleep, but screen stays black.
Occasionally, I can switch to console, but switching back to X would
cause a permanent system freeze.

I am running 64bit Hardy beta1 with nvidia drivers 169.12 on Thinkpad

[Bug 201936] Re: Nvidia Suspend and Hibernate not working on T61P

2008-04-11 Thread Mozg
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 198184 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198184

I had similar problems, but were able to fix the suspend bit. I also
have T61p with nvidia 570M. Never managed to fix the hibernation with
proprietary nvidia drivers. What i've done is changed the /etc/default
/acpi-support file to include:

SAVE_VBE_STATE=false
POST_VIDEO=false
SAVE_VIDEO_PCI_STATE=false

and added the following in the Device directive of xorg.conf
Option NvAGP 1

Using these settings I was able to suspend and resume several times in a
row. However, I did notice that if i use opengl applications, my X does
not resume into the existing session, but restarts the X server. I
didn't manage to fix this problem. Perhaps other people can help on
this?

The hibernation bit was never working properly. It seems to resume and I
can see the console screen, but not able to do anything with it. Several
buttons work like Caps / Num lock and I can restart with Ctrl-Alt-Del.

All of these problems seems to relate to Nvidia drivers alone, as I can
successfully Suspend and Resume when I am using vesa X drivers.

[Bug 184543] ldirectord connection check problem with mysql

2008-01-20 Thread Mozg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ldirectord

Hi
I've found a problem with ldirectord mysql connection check using negotiate
method. The problem exists in Ubuntu gutsy server with ldirectord version
2.1.2-1. After upgrading to version 2.1.3-2, the hardy's package compiled from
sources the problem goes away.

Description of the problem:

The ldirectord fails to recognise that the mysql server is alive and
working properly. I've created a testing database and created a table
with 1 row. After specifing these settings in the ldirectord config file
and launching the server, the ipvsadm -L -n shows the Weight of 0. If I
set quiescent=no in the config file, the entry with the real server
disappears from the ipvsadm output. I've checked the mysql logs and
everything seems to be fine. Ldirector connects to the database and
receives the output of the request = SELECT * from connectioncheck
command.

The problem goes away when I simply compiled and installed version
2.1.3-2 of ldirector and relevant heartbeat packages from hardy's
sources.

Here is a copy of my ldirectord.cf file:

---BEGIN---

# Global Directives
checktimeout=10
checkinterval=2
autoreload=no
logfile=/var/log/ldirectord.log
# keep dead server in the list with weight 0

2007-08-09 Thread Mozg
Had the same issue with gnome-mount crashing on Tribe3. The distro has
been installed in vmware and the crash occurred after trying to install
VMware tools.

[Bug 110278] Re: New gq unable to connect a ldap server

2007-04-26 Thread Mozg
I have the same problem with gq 1.2.1-2 on Ubuntu 7.04. After asking for
password the program does nothing. I can't even see the connection being
made. Tcpdump shows nothing.
