[Bug 1572801] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10
It's got something to do with the kernel. Done a quick test using the latest kernel 4.4.0-42-generic. Restarted my pc and logged in. Opened terminal and mem usage was 1.8gb. Done the same with the latest 4.8.1 kernel from ubuntu kernels page and the usage was only 673mb. Jeremy, I've installed the latest available kernel from the page that you've sent me. It was 2.6.35-999-generic #201006151505. Hi Jeremy, I am away from home until 8th of June and don't currently have access to the hard drive. I will test it upon my return. [Bug 463417] [NEW] Karmic RC mouse clicks in flash player do not work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree I've installed the Karmic RC and updated the system. Tried playing several clips from youtube and found that mouse clicks do not work! I've also tried Seamonkey and Epiphany - same behaviour. This is extremely frustrating. I can right click without any problems, but left clicking (like to pause/play/rewind, etc) does not work. It does work occasionally when I click about 20-30 times I can manage to get one click through. I've tried reinstall the flash player - no luck. [Bug 457074] [NEW] [karmic] Resuming from hibernation boots into a new clean session on Thinkpad T61p
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpi-support System: Karmic Beta1 clean install from live CD with updates as of 21 Oct 2009. Laptop - Thinkpad T61p 6459-CTO. Problem: When I hibernate my laptop (either pressing Fn+F12 or from the menu) the systems seems to initiate hibernation and shuts off after about a minute of HD activity. This seems normal - even takes less time as compared with Ubuntu 8.10. However, the resuming part is not working. When I switch the laptop back on, it starts booting. During the boot, I have a number of entries relating to the partition checks and the laptop just boots into a new sessions instead of bringing back the previous session. The uptime is reset to 1 minute. I've followed the instruction in one of the bug reports and added resume=/dev/sda5 (my swap partition) to /etc/default/grub and ran update-grub afterwords. No luck! Does anyone experience similar behaviour in Karmic? Jaunty was working fine, apart from a ridiculous amount of time required to resume (3-5 minutes) as compared to a Windows 1-2 minutes max. After rebooting, I get kernel panics similar to what is listed below: Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394842] general protection fault: [#1] SMP Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394852] last sysfs file: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394858] Dumping ftrace buffer: Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394863](ftrace buffer empty) Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394867] CPU 0 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394871] Modules linked in: ppdev bridge stp bnep vboxnetflt vboxdrv input_polldev binfmt_misc deflate zlib_deflate ctr twofish twofish_common camellia se rpent blowfish des_generic cbc aes_x86_64 aes_generic xcbc rmd160 sha256_generic sha1_generic crypto_null af_key xfs xfrm4_mode_tunnel uinput lp parport dm_crypt serial_cs btusb snd_hda_inte l arc4 ecb snd_pcm_oss snd_mixer_oss snd_pcm snd_seq_dummy iwlagn snd_seq_oss iwlcore pcmcia snd_seq_midi snd_rawmidi mac80211 snd_seq_midi_event thinkpad_acpi snd_seq snd_timer snd_seq_devi ce yenta_socket rsrc_nonstatic pcmcia_core ricoh_mmc sdhci_pci sdhci intel_agp psmouse video serio_raw iTCO_wdt iTCO_vendor_support led_class output pcspkr nvram snd soundcore snd_page_alloc cfg80211 joydev nvidia(P) usbhid ohci1394 ieee1394 e1000e vesafb fbcon tileblit font bitblit softcursor Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394994] Pid: 4364, comm: python Tainted: P 2.6.28-13-generic #44-Ubuntu Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.394999] RIP: 0010:[802e31c4] [802e31c4] __kmalloc+0x74/0x110 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395014] RSP: 0018:880126129bb8 EFLAGS: 00010002 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395018] RAX: RBX: 00100020 RCX: 0004 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395022] RDX: 88002802cca0 RSI: 80d0 RDI: 0008 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395027] RBP: 880126129be8 R08: R09: 8801099e3240 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395031] R10: 0022 R11: 0246 R12: 809aacb8 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395036] R13: 0282 R14: 80d0 R15: 8045f68e Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395041] FS: 7f93cad856f0() GS:80a9a000() knlGS: Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395047] CS: 0010 DS: ES: CR0: 80050033 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395051] CR2: 0229cd10 CR3: 00012611 CR4: 06a0 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395056] DR0: DR1: DR2: Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395061] DR3: DR6: 0ff0 DR7: 0400 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395066] Process python (pid: 4364, threadinfo 880126128000, task 88012ccb4320) Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395070] Stack: Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395073] 000839786000 0008 0004 880126129c18 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395081] 880126129ce0 8081af4e 880126129c08 8045f68e Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395090] 880126129c08 8801099e3260 880126129c68 8045f884 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395100] Call Trace: Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395103] [8045f68e] acpi_os_allocate_zeroed+0x37/0x3b Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395115] [8045f884] acpi_ns_internalize_name+0x3f/0x7f Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395124] [8045f905] acpi_ns_get_node+0x41/0xa1 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395131] [8030435a] ? seq_open+0x4a/0xa0 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395140] [80478330] ? acpi_thermal_temp_seq_show+0x0/0x67 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395149] [803044aa] ? single_open+0x6a/0xb0 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395157] [8045efcf] acpi_ns_evaluate+0x3f/0x230 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395164] [8045eba3] acpi_evaluate_object+0xfc/0x205 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395172] [8044fbcf] acpi_evaluate_integer+0x2f/0x51 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395180] [802c9a18] ? vma_link+0x88/0xd0 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395189] [8047670a] acpi_thermal_get_temperature+0x36/0x52 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395196] [8047834b] acpi_thermal_temp_seq_show+0x1b/0x67 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka kernel: [ 238.395203] [8030404d] seq_read+0xdd/0x3a0 Jun 21 23:26:50 finka

[Bug 351962] [NEW] jaunty session does not properly restore Terminal

Public bug reported: When authenticating to the system with thinkfinger, the user encrypted home directories are not automatically mounted. [Bug 275359] Re: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.27/drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwl-tx.c:1198 and subsequent panic
I have the same issue with the latest kernel on amd64 and backport modules installed. My setup is as following: Wi-Fi Router: SMC 802.11n with 20/40Mhz / WPA-PSK Intel 4965 wifi card Thinkpad 61p 6459CTO What I've noticed is after connecting to the router, authentication succeeds and I get IP address. However, I can not ping the router for some reason. Iwconfig shows that I am authenticated and shows the encryption key. If I run ping -f -s 1 router ip for about a minute or so I would get the kernel bug in my syslog. Shortly (10-15 seconds) after the kernel bug my pings start working and I get icmp replies from the router. I'll check the latest module and report shortly. This is driving me insane and I think it is very lame for ubuntu team not to test the modules before releasing 8.10! [Bug 276990] Re: iwlagn causes kernel panic on 802.11n wifi
I do experience kernel panic when using 802.11n router. I have tried the following, but crashes are still there: 1. disabled 802.11n by using options iwlagn 11n_disable=1 2. installed backports (linux-backports-modules-intrepid-generic, linux-backports-modules-intrepid and linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic) I did notice that with backports module my connection becomes somewhat unstable. I would associate and authenticate with the AP, get the IP address through DHCP, however, I can't ping anything. If i run as root ping -f -s 65507 router ip, after about 10-60 seconds I would get the connectivity and wireless seems to work until either a kernel panic or a disconnect. I have taken a picture with my cam of the console screen with the last part kernel panic screen, which is attached to this email. My laptop is Lenovo T61p 6459CTO with Intel 4965 abgn card. [Bug 271785] [NEW] Thinkpad freezes when power is unplugged from docking station
Public bug reported: I've seen several posts relating to docking station issues, however, this issue seems to be different. I have been using Thinkpad T61p with the docking station for sometime and never seen any problems or freezes when docking/undocking. However, today i've unplugged the power cable from the docking station while the laptop was docked and noticed that computer froze; pressing Alt SysRq S/U/K/T/B/O doesn't do anything and only a hard reboot works. Looking into the logs did not show anything unusual, no OOPs, no strange events. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release:8.04 lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 PCI Express Root Port (rev 0c) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HBM (ICH8M-E) LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro FX 570M (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network Connection (rev 61) 15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba) 15:00.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04) 15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21) 15:00.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C843 MMC Host Controller (rev 11) 15:00.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter (rev 11) 15:00.5 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 11) Does anyone else have similar issues? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Thinkpad freezes when power is unplugged from docking station https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271785 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p
I have installed the latest nvidia drivers that come with envyng and the suspend to ram and actually to disk started working much better. I've been using it for 3 days now and have not had a single problem. Whereas before, most of the time my X server would simply restart, now it is all fine. It does take a long time to resume though. Resuming from ram takes 30 seconds now and resume from suspend to disk takes about 3-4 minutes. Most of the time computer sits idle without any visible activity. The drivers that made the difference were installed using envyng and they are: nvidia-glx-new-envy 173.14.12+2.6.24.503-503.30 try it out and see if it makes a difference for you -- Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217841 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p
I've tried all of the things listed in here and in various sites to sort out this problem, but none of the solutions seems to help me. What I am experiencing is resuming from suspend to ram works properly only about 30% of the time. During the successful resume, everything is working fine, including wireless/wired network connectivity. However, most of the time, then resuming my X session restarts with a clean gdm login and I have to relogin and reopen all the programs again, which obviously makes the suspend to ram useless. I've spent a few months trying to figure out if there is a consistency of some sort that reproduces the successful or unsuccessful resume, however, I couldn't find any correlation. I even tried to open a clean gnome session with no open programs apart from what comes default. Even with that i have occasionally successfull resumes, but most of the time I end up with restarted X server. I am a disappointed with what seems to work perfectly fine on Ubuntu 7.10 when I have never had a failed resume from suspend when I even tried suspending while playing 3D games, watching movies, copying files across wireless/wired network and with Ubuntu 8.04 it is a complete mess. The worst thing is despite so many people are having issues with suspend/resuming to RAM, ubuntu development team is doing nothing to fix the problem. [Bug 217846] Re: Slow suspend/resume in Hardy
cdiggity: I was wondering if you could post your xorg.conf and lspci -vv files as well. Actually, under 10 seconds resume/suspend is excellent, as even when I had Edgy installed, I was never achieving these times. To be honest, I am finding Hardy very dissapointing when it comes to hardware support. My performance/stability in Edgy was better. suspend/resume has never failed on T61p, whereas in Hardy it works fine at its best 3 times out of 10 (( and I was never able to successfully resume when connected to a docking station. My mate on the exact hardware on Gentoo has no problems in 2.6.24 kernel. The suspending timing is the same: about 12-13 seconds from pressing the Suspend button to the system in sleep state. However, resuming takes twice as long in Hardy. Gutsy manages to fully wake up and present the password prompt in 14-17 seconds, where as Hardy does it in 30-40 seconds. As you can see the difference is great, taking into account that it takes about 35-40 seconds to boot into Ubuntu from fresh boot and resuming from sleep should be done much faster! Just to mention that the tests were run on the same hardware: I used to run Gutsy and about 2 weeks ago upgraded to Hardy. So, all applications/settings/hardware was the same, including /etc/default /acpi-support. In both cases I used nvidia proprietary drivers version 169.12 installed using envy. output of lspci: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 PCI Express Root Port (rev 0c) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HBM (ICH8M-E) LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro FX 570M (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network Connection (rev 61) 15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba) 15:00.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04) 15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21) 15:00.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C843 MMC Host Controller (rev 11) 15:00.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter (rev 11) 15:00.5 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 11) lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 8.04 Release:8.04 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Slow suspend/resume in Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217846 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 203679] Re: hald-addon-inpu making 100%-cpu-usage
Same happens with me on Thinkpad T61p with thinkfinger and iwl4965. I could not notice any consistency in this behaviour. It happens randomly and I've noticed this after the recent updates. I've upgraded by Hardy beta on 09/04/2008 and it did not happen initially. After the yesterday's upgraded i've noticed this behaviour. I do run wireless with WPA-psk and my bluetooth is on by default but not peered with any device. This too happens shortly after system boot Info: Hardy beta 1 with full updates as of 13/04/2008 hal: 0.5.11~rc2-1ubuntu6 uname -r : 2.6.24-16-generic Arch: amd64 hald-addon-input strace shows a lot of: --- oll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=5, events=POLLIN}, {fd=7, events=POLLIN}, {fd=8, events=POLLIN}, {fd=9, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN}, {fd=11, events=POLLIN}, {fd=12, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLNVAL}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN}], 10, -1) = 1 poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=5, events=POLLIN}, {fd=7, events=POLLIN}, {fd=8, events=POLLIN}, {fd=9, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN}, {fd=11, events=POLLIN}, {fd=12, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLNVAL}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN}], 10, -1) = 1 --- lsof |grep hald-add: --- hald-addo 7799 root cwd DIR 254,3 4096 50490928 /usr/lib/hal hald-addo 7799 root rtd DIR 254,2 4096 128 / hald-addo 7799 root txt REG 254,323648 50508792 /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-input hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,214624 44091148 /lib/libdl-2.7.so hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,2 109368 37749080 /lib/libselinux.so.1 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,3 154200 379 /usr/lib/libpcre.so.3.12.1 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,293080 44091151 /lib/libnsl-2.7.so hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,3 281104 84998 /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0.1600.3 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,2 1436976 44091145 /lib/libc-2.7.so hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,3 783864 84993 /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0.1600.3 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,3 248432 943790 /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.3.4.0 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,3 131880 95366 /usr/lib/libdbus-glib-1.so.2.1.0 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,362976 95977 /usr/lib/libhal.so.1.0.0 hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,2 127480 44091142 /lib/ld-2.7.so hald-addo 7799 root mem REG 254,325700 67240750 /usr/lib/gconv/gconv-modules.cache hald-addo 7799 root0r CHR1,3 9809 /dev/null hald-addo 7799 root1u CHR1,3 9809 /dev/null hald-addo 7799 root2u CHR1,3 9809 /dev/null hald-addo 7799 root3u unix 0x810133c16580 19425 socket hald-addo 7799 root4r CHR 13,71 15839 /dev/input/event7 hald-addo 7799 root5w CHR 13,70 15748 /dev/input/event6 hald-addo 7799 root6r CHR 13,65 15707 /dev/input/event1 hald-addo 7799 root7r CHR 13,67 15419 /dev/input/event3 hald-addo 7799 root8r CHR 13,68 15717 /dev/input/event4 hald-addo 7799 root9r CHR 13,69 15740 /dev/input/event5 hald-addo 7799 root 10r CHR 13,72 15727 /dev/input/event8 hald-addo 7799 root 11r CHR 13,75 20913 /dev/input/event11 hald-addo 7803 root cwd DIR 254,3 4096 50490928 /usr/lib/hal hald-addo 7803 root rtd DIR 254,2 4096 128 / hald-addo 7803 root txt REG 254,333672 50508799 /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-cpufreq hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,214624 44091148 /lib/libdl-2.7.so hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,2 109368 37749080 /lib/libselinux.so.1 hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,3 154200 379 /usr/lib/libpcre.so.3.12.1 hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,293080 44091151 /lib/libnsl-2.7.so hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,3 281104 84998 /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0.1600.3 hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,2 1436976 44091145 /lib/libc-2.7.so hald-addo 7803 root mem REG 254,3 783864 84993 /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0.1600.3
[Bug 214335] Re: Hardy Heron Live CD Won't Boot Thinkpad T61p
I confirm this behaviour. Tried Hardy beta1 live cd and no joy! The Cd boots with black screen, no splash screen at all. Nothing happens for a while and I after a short while I have the X configuration screen at very large resolution. I've tried doing the confir with vesa and nv drivers. Vesa works at low res (800x600) but not higher. nv does not seems to work at all. The same behaviour happened in Gutsy live cd and I had to use alternate cd to boot and install. I did notice that after the install, vesa with higher resolution was working and I managed to get 1920x1200 out of it. I am wondering how come i could not make a higher resolution in the setup using vesa drivers? I am suprised that this problem has not been fixed on Thinkpads T61p, as these laptops are very popular. Perhaps something to think about before releasing Hardy 8.04. my lspci is: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 PCI Express Root Port (rev 0c) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HBM (ICH8M-E) LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro FX 570M (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network Connection (rev 61) 15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba) 15:00.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04) 15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21) 15:00.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C843 MMC Host Controller (rev 11) 15:00.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter (rev 11) 15:00.5 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 11) -- Hardy Heron Live CD Won't Boot Thinkpad T61p https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214335 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 200509] Re: iwl4965: Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x2000000
Hi I have recently updated to amd64 Hardy 8.04 from 7.10 and started noticing that my dmesg is full of warnings and errors related to iwl4965 module. I've installed the latest updates and linux-backports-modules- hardy-generic package. The errors happen every time i use the Fn+F5 switch on my Thinkpad T61p laptop. As i remember, Fn+F5 didn't work at all on Gutsy, however, in Hardy it seems to partially work. By partially I mean the following: when I turn on the laptop, both wi-fi and bluetooth is enabled and leds are on. Pressing Fn+F5 once will switch off the wireless, pressing it again would switch off Bluetooth and once more would try to activate the wireless again. The dmesg errors start happening when I try to switch on wireless. [Bug 215722] [NEW] suspend to ram stopped working after upgrade to Hardy
Public bug reported: After a recent upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy beta 1, I have noticed that the Suspend to Ram stopped working. I am experiencing similar simptoms as I had in Gutsy before changing: SAVE_VBE_STATE=false, POST_VIDEO=false in /etc/default/acpi-support and Option NvAGP 1 in the xorg.conf file. Basically, the system goes to sleep without any issues and stays in sleep. However, when it wakes up it looks like it is coming back from the sleep, but screen stays black. Occasionally, I can switch to console, but switching back to X would cause a permanent system freeze. I am running 64bit Hardy beta1 with nvidia drivers 169.12 on Thinkpad T61p with the following hardware: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 PCI Express Root Port (rev 0c) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HBM (ICH8M-E) LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro FX 570M (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network Connection (rev 61) 15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba) 15:00.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04) 15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21) 15:00.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C843 MMC Host Controller (rev 11) 15:00.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter (rev 11) 15:00.5 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 11) I would be happy to provide further debugging to solve this issue ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- suspend to ram stopped working after upgrade to Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 201936] Re: Nvidia Suspend and Hibernate not working on T61P
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 198184 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198184 I had similar problems, but were able to fix the suspend bit. I also have T61p with nvidia 570M. Never managed to fix the hibernation with proprietary nvidia drivers. What i've done is changed the /etc/default /acpi-support file to include: SAVE_VBE_STATE=false POST_VIDEO=false SAVE_VIDEO_PCI_STATE=false and added the following in the Device directive of xorg.conf Option NvAGP 1 Using these settings I was able to suspend and resume several times in a row. However, I did notice that if i use opengl applications, my X does not resume into the existing session, but restarts the X server. I didn't manage to fix this problem. Perhaps other people can help on this? The hibernation bit was never working properly. It seems to resume and I can see the console screen, but not able to do anything with it. Several buttons work like Caps / Num lock and I can restart with Ctrl-Alt-Del. All of these problems seems to relate to Nvidia drivers alone, as I can successfully Suspend and Resume when I am using vesa X drivers. -- Nvidia Suspend and Hibernate not working on T61P https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 184543] ldirectord connection check problem with mysql
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ldirectord Hi I've found a problem with ldirectord mysql connection check using negotiate method. The problem exists in Ubuntu gutsy server with ldirectord version 2.1.2-1. After upgrading to version 2.1.3-2, the hardy's package compiled from sources the problem goes away. Description of the problem: The ldirectord fails to recognise that the mysql server is alive and working properly. I've created a testing database and created a table with 1 row. After specifing these settings in the ldirectord config file and launching the server, the ipvsadm -L -n shows the Weight of 0. If I set quiescent=no in the config file, the entry with the real server disappears from the ipvsadm output. I've checked the mysql logs and everything seems to be fine. Ldirector connects to the database and receives the output of the request = SELECT * from connectioncheck command. The problem goes away when I simply compiled and installed version 2.1.3-2 of ldirector and relevant heartbeat packages from hardy's sources. Here is a copy of my ldirectord.cf file: ---BEGIN--- # Global Directives checktimeout=10 checkinterval=2 autoreload=no logfile=/var/log/ldirectord.log # keep dead server in the list with weight 0 quiescent=yes # MySQL load balancing virtual = 192.168.77.71:3306 service = mysql real = 192.168.77.77:3306 gate 10 real = 192.168.77.78:3306 gate 10 real = 192.168.77.79:3306 gate 10 checktype = negotiate login = ldirector passwd = ldirectorpassword database = ldirectordb request = SELECT * from connectioncheck scheduler = wrr protocol=tcp ---END--- Andrei ** Affects: heartbeat (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ldirectord connection check problem with mysql https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184543 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
