[Bug 1927211] [NEW] After latest update screen randomly flickers

2021-05-05 Thread Phil v
Public bug reported:

After the most recent automatic update, my screen will flicker randomly.
This is not screen tearing but a random, arbitrary flicker/tearing that
gets worse when i use calculator, terminal and firefox. It is
particularly bad when using firefox. It's reasonably stable when using
google chrome.

Chris - correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't 'fix released' be a more
appropriate status here? We have a couple duplicate bugs subscribing to
this report, and it'd be great if those users were notified that the
problem was resolved with a kernel update.

[Bug 926980] Re: File Manager crashes after clicking continue on Preparing To Install screeen

2012-02-05 Thread Phil. V
The core dump will contain pretty much whatever was in memory at the
time of the crash, which is why we keep crash reports that still have
them attached private, so it's possible IP addresses/wifi passwords etc
could be in there. It shouldn't take long for the retracer to get around
to this (probably Monday), but if you understand the risks then feel
free to mark this as public again.

[Bug 919871] Re: Empathy Keeps Crashing

2012-01-22 Thread Phil. V
Sure, no problem. It's likely that this isn't a problem with the Ubuntu
packaging of empathy, and will need to be addressed by the folks over at
GNOME. Could you possibly report this to the empathy developers at their
bug tracker? The URL is here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/

After you do that please post the link to your bug here so I can link
the bugs on launchpad. Also, they're likely to ask for a stack trace
since this is a program crash. Instructions for obtaining that can be
found here: http://live.gnome.org/Empathy/Debugging

[Bug 919027] Re: headphone which works windows platform does not work in Linux partition having Ubuntu

2012-01-19 Thread Phil. V
Hi there,
Thanks for your bug report. You're running Ubuntu 10.10. It may be prudent to
upgrade to 11.04, or preferably 11.10, as it's possible that you're problem is
fixed in a newer version of Ubuntu. Also, 10.10 will no longer be supported
starting in April, so there's another reason to upgrade! In any case I'm
re-targeting this to alsa-driver for you, as that's the correct package for a
problem like this. If upgrading doesn't solve your problem, or isn't an option,
hopefully someone more familiar with debugging sound problems can help you out.

[Bug 918998] Re: Lenovo Ideapad S10-3 fails to resume after closing lid.

2012-01-19 Thread Phil. V
Could you please run 'apport-collect 918998' in a terminal? That will
attach some more system information to this report. Although it appears
you've provided a lot of information, it can't hurt to be sure. Also, do
you mean that it fails to resume from suspend when you open the lid? The
expected behavior is usually for the computer to hibernate/suspend when
the lid is closed, and then to wake up when the lid is opened.

[Bug 910072] Re: DELL P790 missing crucial refresh rates for critical resolutions

2011-12-30 Thread Phil. V
The spec sheet for that monitor doesn't seem to show these frequency/resolution
pairings, but they should indeed be possible given the scan ranges its capable
of, assuming its efficiency hasn't dropped significantly with age. I wish I
could confirm this without reproducing it myself, hopefully this gets fixed,
nouveau should be capable of determining safe refresh rates. If you're feeling
up to it, you can specify those modes manually:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=83973
and bit more recent:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/59621/how-to-change-the-monitors-refresh-rate

I've never attempted this myself, so if you run into trouble I'm sure
the folks in #ubuntu on IRC can help you out.

[Bug 908974] Re: Include tcos in ubuntu

2011-12-27 Thread Phil. V
Indeed, this package is available in Debian testing, as well as sid.
There are semi-automated processes that carry packages in Debian over to
Ubuntu, so this will most likely be included in the next Ubuntu release.
It doesn't appear that this is present in precise, though, so hopefully
this gets picked up before the freeze.
