Public bug reported: After the most recent automatic update, my screen will flicker randomly. This is not screen tearing but a random, arbitrary flicker/tearing that gets worse when i use calculator, terminal and firefox. It is particularly bad when using firefox. It's reasonably stable when using google chrome. The spec sheet for that monitor doesn't seem to show these frequency/resolution pairings, but they should indeed be possible given the scan ranges its capable of, assuming its efficiency hasn't dropped significantly with age. I wish I could confirm this without reproducing it myself, hopefully this gets fixed, nouveau should be capable of determining safe refresh rates. Indeed, this package is available in Debian testing, as well as sid. There are semi-automated processes that carry packages in Debian over to Ubuntu, so this will most likely be included in the next Ubuntu release.
