[Bug 542784] [NEW] system suspends immediately after wake
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: devicekit-power This is consistent on a intel P43 chipset system using a core 2 duo processor running KDE on Karmic w/ all updates as of 11 am Mar. 20th 2010. After setting the system to sleep after an idle period in the kde power settings, when the system wakes up it again sleeps after about 30 seconds or less. Occasionally, I get a notification that the system will sleep in 30 seconds, but sometimes it also sleeps again before I can unlock the screen. It should also be mentioned that at times the screen doesn't actually lock until this second sleep occurs. Additionally, waking the system up after the second sleep always allows me to unlock the screen and continue working. This appears somewhat similar to 425411, but I don't believe it's the same issue. I'm not removing power from the system while it sleeps nor is this a lap top, and this second suspend always happens. I also see the following crash after each attempt to wake the system: [ 8041.111623] PM: Preparing system for mem sleep [ 8041.111626] Freezing user space processes ... (elapsed 0.00 seconds) done. [Bug 81476] Re: feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2
So aside from the box that used to be my file server now being officially dead, I just went ahead and did a clean install of kubuntu 9.10 on the same box, more or less, that I originally reported this on. From what I can tell, I have working sound, including surround, and other applications are able to access the sound card. I haven't dug into the new architecture much. I know there was phonon, etc., all being discussed, so it may be software mixing, but I don't really care as long as it works. Most interestingly, I have no asound.conf whatsoever. -- feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/81476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81476] Re: feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2
We didn't get into another house until this year. I've started cabling for the network, but won't be finished for a couple days. Then I have to get a system working. The box that has this card came back from the electronics guys, but I haven't fired it up yet since my /home is mounted from nfs. Sorry. I guess close it if you need to. Getting this tested just hasn't been that high on my priority list. Or, if all the systems boot, I might actually get around to trying this sometime within the next few weeks, as I need to get my network/lab rebuilt. -- feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/81476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Don't know. The system that this was happening on was in a house that burned down. I haven't gotten into permanent housing, so I haven't even thought about trying to build another system until it does. I might be able to do some testing in another month or so. -- feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/81476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 94412] Re: Expire folders from file menu does not work with IMAP
No problem ;) Yes, the fact that you're using a single folder would explain a lot. The expire function will work *if I refresh the folder first* by clicking on the folder and letting it load all the headers. But if I just do an expire all folders from the menu, then it fails. So I guess maybe the best way to state this is that expire fails for folders that haven't been refreshed, even though kmail shows the proper number of mail entries. Maybe it doesn't know what the dates are for each mail until the headers are refreshed, but only the total number of mails in a folder? My mail gets sorted into folders by rules running on the server, so the client doesn't ever seen a specific email until i enter the folder it resides in and click on it. -- Expire folders from file menu does not work with IMAP https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/94412 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 72565] Re: Swapped nforce4 boards - now no eth0
OK, then why is only the forcedeth and skge driver listed, if this is so important? I removed everything from iftab, and the network comes up fine. Also, even though forcedeth is listed as being permanetly assigned eth0, it was not assigned the name eth0. After swapping boards, it was named eth1 until I removed the hardcoded MAC in iftab. [Bug 72565] Re: Swapped nforce4 boards - now no eth0
One other important point, I did not hard code the MAC, so I disagree with your statement that this is not easily reproducable. And so I'm moving it back to new. This is something done by the install process, not the user. I also dug back through some old threads, and found that the solution was to edit /etc/iftab and remove the MAC from there. So unless you can assure me that the installer no longer adds the MAC address of cards to iftab, then this bug needs to stay open, since it probably affects a lot more than just nforce boards. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Invalid = New -- Swapped nforce4 boards - now no eth0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72565 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 94412] Expire folders from file menu does not work with IMAP
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdepim KMail Version 1.9.6/KDE 3.5.6/Feisty connecting to IMAP server. All folders except inbox have been individually marked as expire read mails after 30 days and expire unread mails after 30 days, with permanently delete as the action. These folders are not subfolders of the inbox, but separate IMAP folders. I then select expire all folders from the file menu, however, few, if any, mails will be deleted. As a sanity check, I run evolution with a virtual folder set to find all mail over 30 days old, and 1000 emails will show up in the virtual folder. [Bug 81476] Re: feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2
So I take back what I said earlier. It doesn't work, even with the modified asound.conf, nor does it work with no asound.conf/.asoundrc. With no asound.conf, I get basic functionality for one application. In other words, basic 2-channel sound works, one app at a time on a card which supports hardware mixing. But any attempts to use surround sound of any type results in a device not available from the xine engine. I'd always been under the impression that the message meant the device wasn't there. A bit of strace shows that the device is just locked. So my card supports hardware mixing, but the alsa drivers don't seem to be able to use it. Bottom line is I've lost both the surround sound capability I've had for a few years now since upgrading to feisty, as well as being able to use multiple sound-related apps simultaneously, whatever the root cause might be. -- feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2 https://launchpad.net/bugs/81476 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81476] Re: feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2
Since you can't get 5.1 audio without an asound config of some type, and since everything on my system is configured to use multi-channel audio, I suppose the answer would be no. You'd get an entirely different error regarding plug:surround51. I think the most annoying thing is that the alsa drivers as shipped just silently fail in this case. -- feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2 https://launchpad.net/bugs/81476 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81476] feisty - No sound in KDE or GNOME w/ alsa audigy2
Public bug reported: The following is repeatedly printed to the console: ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:831:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore I've also tried compiling 1..0.14.rc2, but the same error occurs, so this appears to be upstream in the base alsa code. The problem is that on my audigy 2, I get no sound when alsa is chosen as the output device type. My asound.conf is unchanged from edgy, where this worked. And I've booted into windows and verified the hardware as a basic sanity check. Further, on the ubuntu forums, a couple of other people have responded to the thread I opened saying that they, too, lost sound, on other hardware. [Bug 62161] Re: Konq crashes on clicking every other link out of knode.
I'm not going to argue. I got the update after adding the kubuntu.org repositories, not before. I can't rule out the possibility that maybe, just maybe, I did an aptitude update and got nothing, added the kubuntu stuff, did another aptitude update and got a large update as a mere coincidence of timing, but I also can't completely rule out the possibility of the universe being an illusion created by the flying spaghetti monster. Or perhaps the kubuntu stuff got added into the main repositories as well. I don't know. And I haven't received any updates to the base KDE stuff since. So you do what you want. [Bug 61887] Remember this password doesn't
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I have selected the option to remember this password for all password dialogs in Evolution 2.8.0. However, each time evolution needs a password, the dialog is displayed with remember this password already checked. This worked prior to the inclusion of 2.8.0, so is probably a regression of some sort. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Remember this password doesn't https://launchpad.net/bugs/61887 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60635] irqpoll causes cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-7-generic After adding irqpoll to the kernel line, dmesg is filled with the following: hdc: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason = 0x01) This was also occurring in earlier versions of the kernel. This parameter is needed to work around another hardware problem on my system. Components are are follows: Abit AN8-SLI (BIOS 20) 2 BFG 7800 GTX PCIe cards 2 GB OCZ Platinum DDR-400 Sony DDU1615 (hdc) and DW-Q28A (hdd), connected to nvidia secondary IDE channel. [Bug 44169] Re: no multimedia keys when using evdev with mouse
I can confirm this. They aren't mouse buttons, but the events do appear on the mouse event interface. I was able to make this work with udev rules in 5.10 and below, but in Dapper and above, this fails. I have a similar bug open for this. [Bug 59522] X crashes if volume control moved on Logitech LX700 keyboard
