[Bug 2055430] Re: curses input box with mouse-support enters test 588 589 whenever terminal window focus changes
The fix for my application is to add: $cui->set_binding( sub { }, "588" ); $cui->set_binding( sub { }, "589" ); I provide this as a workaround. it suggests that 588 and 589 are to new KEY_* values that are perhaps merely not-handled but now-should-be in libcurses-ui-perl engine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055430 Title: curses input box with mouse-support enters test 588 589 whenever terminal window focus changes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libcurses-ui-perl/+bug/2055430/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 296867]
I think most people take it for granted that telepathy devs are on the dark side - even the name of the project gives it away! Telepathy is for other people to read your thoughts. But it's bad manners to bring it up on the bug report list. On 28 Apr 2014 17:51, Bugzi 296...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote: After all that NSA, PRISM, etc, scandal, I don't want to imagine the silly face Telepathy's developers who stated so arrogantly that security wasn't very important must have every morning. They thought that critic users who were demanding security were little less than intellectually retarded people, who couldn't distinguish what is really important, whereas they, the developers, in Their infinite wisdom, had the Truth, knowing what was prioritary, not us, stupid users who can't even code. After all these of costant slapping in their faces from the news, the papers, the public; in short: the reality, one would think they must have become a little humbler (Christ, they even rejected to work on encryption despite people was ready to collect money pay them to do it!), but it seems that things haven't evolved too much, right? (KDE's Telepathy implementation has even been removed from Prism Break website because its [lack of] security is just unacceptable: https://github.com/nylira/prism-break/issues/939 ) Well, we, the critic users, aren't developers in this project, or at all. We can't tell them to do what we think is prioritary when the other 90% of users think is not (y'all know: a trillion flies can't be wrong. Let's eat sh*t), nor can we write an encryption plugin, so I think all critic users should stop trying to make TP devs reason, it's a lost cause. I suspect that Collabora, the company after Telepathy, might have been intentionally delaying as much as possible the securization of Telepathy. We known now that the obscure hand of the NSA has been involved in the development of cryptography standards and even in TOR. As an iceberg's peak, surely we don't even imagine the 90% unter the water. Suspiction is not knowledge, of course, but all that immovable interest in not writting a damn plugin for OTR o implementing any other secure encryption method year after year, even when people was ready to pay... Well, it just smells rather fishy. So, dear folks who do know that fascistoid governments and companies arent interested in bad guys only but want to have controlled all of their people just in case, simply use Pidgin; it's ugly as a witch, yes, but it works; or if you want to polute your system with Java, you have Jisti, which is more feature rich, but I don't think all this discussion, all this bitching and all that We are the devs, if you wan't something do it yourself! has any sense, and even less if there are interests who don't want our conversations to be private. I think people are trying provoke a post-Snowden comment from the devs or Ubuntu. This uncomfortable discussion has an important social role in establishing or restoring or writing off credibility. Pre-Snowden the official position seemed incredible, but potentially honestly held. It may even have been part of the Ubuntus baffling but consistent long term strategy of replacing working software with half finished software. But post-Snowden we see an opportunity to discover if they are accidental helps or wilful supporters of the evil empire. Thus are reputations forged. How did get launchpad get to be so rubbish? The typical ubuntu scenario is like like this: 1. file a bug 2. wait 1-2 years 3. bug gets marked as invalid 4. if you are lucky it was fixed upstream and is fixed in a future release the use of the system seems designed to disuade people from using launchpad. Rather than the point of report all bugs it is the point of being insulted for reporting any bug. And this is a serious bug - ubuntu is corrupt users files if they use an offered feature. Mint is where it is at; while ubuntu is debian done nicely - mint seems to be: ubuntu with the bugs fixed I'm still on ubuntu but I'm not expecting to stay, I've had enough of being insulted by launchpad scripts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509180 Title: ecryptfs sometimes seems to add trailing garbage to encrypted files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/509180/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 509180] Re: ecryptfs sometimes seems to add trailing garbage to encrypted files
What makes it worse is that Shuttleworth abandoned his bounty idea; so it is impossible for individual users financially support Canonical or Ubuntu, or get support or contribute to support on issues that matter. I'm pretty sure that the problem is because the network stops before filesystem unmounts, and so the nfs unmount hangs because the file server is unreachable. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ecryptfs-utils ecryptfs seems unreliable. In a recent case I performed a git fsck on a large samba4 repo, like this: git fsck --full --verbose --strict it failed with a corrupt dangling commit, and dmesg showed: [961417.528106] ecryptfs_read_and_validate_header_region: Error reading header region; rc = [-4] [961417.528150] Valid eCryptfs headers not found in file header region or xattr region [961417.528156] Either the lower file is not in a valid eCryptfs format, or the key could not be retrieved. Plaintext passthrough mode is not enabled; returning -EIO I repeated the git fsck and it worked without problem, and dmesg showed nothing. as git fsck does not repair, we can clude that different data was read the second time. The chance of a bad git appearing good by accident is very small. The fact that the dmesg error shows when git fsck fails suggests that the failure occured the first time and not the second time. I think it needs a little more publicity. Perhaps on http://blogs.msdn.com/ or New York Times technology pages (they've not published much on GNU/Linux since 2009). The second one is called Pictures folder and simply displays the pictures it finds in your ~/Pictures directory. Seriously, what's to configure? [Bug 22007] Re: no 'Settings' button in gnome-screensaver
Relax. They (upstream) have a fix - of course! This bug has been marked as a secret show-case bug for some MS fan-boi (or Ballmer on his swan song) to pull out as evidence as to how kack linux (Gnome) is because you can't even configure your screen-saver. As soon as that happens, the patch will be applied to steal away the thunder and undermine MS marketing strategy. This big is also part of the strategy for bug #1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1 All this is obvious (and I shouldn't have to explain it) if you read between-the-lines here: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeScreensaver/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#head- 64ef29e28226e09a3b849d8f00726cc004625c62 And realize that most of the reasons given are pretty much dumb reasons that only appeal to powerful entities who need help controlling their serfs and in no way relate to giving competent power over their own operating system. [Bug 610856] Re: Package libmpcdec3 is missing from maverick repos
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad now installs. NOTE: It's an insult to the reporters to mark the report as invalid as this which suggests that the bug submitters and the bug-confirmer are incompetent. It damages good-will I think it should be marked as fixed, not invalid. -- Package libmpcdec3 is missing from maverick repos https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 610856] Re: Package libmpcdec3 is missing from maverick repos
You are probably right about the word incompetent but the same applies to the word invalid. It conveys the primary message you got it wrong or it's not a bug when the fact is it's a bug filed against the wrong packages But whether or not the bug belongs with the rdeps depends on what the outcome of the analysis actually is: It's impossible to know which are the right packages unless one is privy to the packaging decisions of the next release; i.e. one knows that: 1. libmpcdec3 is being dropped and rdeps being rebuilt instead of 2. libmpcdec3 being kept because of irreconcilable rdeps. and that the plan might change after the bug report is considered. Which of 1 or 2 is finally followed and therefore where the bug should have really been filed depends on the analysis of the bug report. If 2 was followed (which is reasonable if vlc could not have used the newer library then the bug would not have been invalid). invalid is an emotionally charged word; and it doesn't help if there is now way the filer can know how the bug should be filed. I don't know if the bug there is with launchpad or ubuntu policy. I feel better now I've said that. -- Package libmpcdec3 is missing from maverick repos https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 614731] [NEW] shutdown hangs with wlan autofs/nfs mounted homedirs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: autofs5 I have nfs4 home directories mounted with autofs. If i boot-up and shutdown, everything is fine. If I login for a graphical session and then choose shutdown from a gnome menu, then the shutdown hangs - with tasks like gnome-screensaver and other personal tasks hanging as well as system tasks like flush and sync. The text console reports that these tasks have been hanging for more than 120 seconds. I have seen /etc/init.d/networking that it tries not to shutdown network interfaces if there are network mounted file systems, and debugging that I've added to /etc/init.d/network and I am sure that it is not running. I'm wondering if wpa_supplicant is being killed or something; or maybe the file system is being un-mounted before the applications have finished with it, If I un-mount all the mounted home directories before shutting down then there are no problems. I'm willing to do any amount of debug, but I'm not too hot on debugging upstart ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: autofs 5.0.5-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-14.20-generic 2.6.35 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-14-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Aug 7 14:11:05 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Alpha i386 (20100806) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: autofs5 ** Affects: autofs5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 maverick -- shutdown hangs with wlan autofs/nfs mounted homedirs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614731 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to autofs5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
