[Bug 1431106] [NEW] Random Kernel Panic with Intel ValleyView hardware

2015-03-11 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

I'm having problem with random kernel panic with Intel ValleyView
hardware.

I've already test with kernel 3.16, same issue. Tried
intel_pstate=disable, same issue.

It does not seems to be a hardware problem, since windows 8.1 works very
well.

[Bug 1353013] Re: Popping/Crackling sound when playing audio in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-10-31 Thread Sergio Benjamim
I'm having this issue too in xubuntu 14.04.1. It often happens when I'm
using Alsa, and it is random, sometimes audio works well but then all of
a sudden it gets this repeated popping/crackling sound.

When in the normal audio, top shows pulseaudio with 3~5% of CPU usage
and pavucontrol with 9~10%, and pavucontrol is like the attach picture.

2014-10-22 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

Hi, it seems libOpenVG.so.1 is missing in /usr/lib/*-linux-*/, there is
only the libOpenVG.so. I had trouble with this symlink:

It seems that there is a workaround here:

http://dhanar10.blogspot.com.br/2014/05/bcm43142-bluetooth-getting-it-

So, is it missing a firmware binary in the package? The guy had to take
the binary from windows to get work.

[Bug 1190146] Re: [needs-packaging] nightingale

Erle, I forked from your fork, and merge upstream commits, and I got
this:

E: nightingale: embedded-library
usr/lib/nightingale/xulrunner/libsqlite3.so: sqlite

Is it right?

---

I'm trying to fix this hardening-no-relro thing, I tried what is
described in https://wiki.debian.org/HardeningWalkthrough#Enabling_dpkg-
buildflags_in_your_debian.2Frules_files , like this:

#!/usr/bin/make -f

export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all

%:
dh $@ --parallel

[...]

But I still getting hardening-no-relro lintian error.

Any idea?

[Bug 1325237] [NEW] Firefox does not associate magnet links to Transmission

2014-05-31 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

If you try to open a magnet link in thepiratebay, a Launch Application
window will open asking to choose a torrent client, but there are no
program in the list (take a look at the picture).

Why is it not configured to open Transmission? After all, it is the
default torrent client in Ubuntu and other flavors, and for begginers
users it is hard to realize that you can navigate to /usr/bin/ to find
transmission in that Launch Application window.

2014-05-31 Thread Sergio Benjamim
If you click in Choose button, you will go to Recently Used, but
it's for recently files, not programs... this kind of window should open
in /usr/bin, or list possible programs to choose. Right now it is very
unfriendly.

[Bug 1268217] Re: bumblebee-nvidia should remove nvidia-prime (conflicting packages)

2014-05-26 Thread Sergio Benjamim
There is no need to remove nvidia-prime to install bumblebee. I
installed bumblebee here in trusty, and I disabled nvidia card in the
Nvidia Settings, so now it uses Intel card all the time, and primusrun
optirun runs normally Nvidia card (you have to configure
/etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf and add bumblebee in your user, as well).

Tested with nvidia-331-updates (331.38) and linux 3.15-rc7 from
canonical mainline.

[Bug 1263355] Re: Unable to directly access files of any smartphone from Ubuntu

2014-05-13 Thread Sergio Benjamim
I tested a samsung S4 mini (GT-I9195) with Android 4.2.2, same issue.

I would wonder why this issue is marked as fix released in bug
#1203704 and gnome-bugs #695984.

And it's not possible to do simple things like copy and paste, or cut
and paste. I have to delete file and copy from ubuntu to a new place in
android.

[Bug 1306608] [NEW] Unity global menu delays actions in a gtk2 app

2014-04-11 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

There is a problem with this global menu from Unity, it delays
actions/things i do in the menu. It seems that the information from menu
is not send to the app.

Using vba-m gtk, i can not load saved games until I move the emulator
window. Take a look at the video.

Step to reproduce:

- Opens the vba-m emulator
- Load a ROM
- Save State in some time
- Try to Load State (Emulation Load State Most Recent), you will notice
that it will not work
- Move the emulator window to other place, you will that after you drop the
window, the emulator will load the saved state

Or:
- Opens the vba-m emulator
- Load a ROM
- Save State in some time
- Try to Load State, you will notice that it will not work
- Click in global menu, the menu drops down, and click again to close it, the
emulator will load the saved state after this action

http://youtu.be/Pwq_7_7oLPk

If i disable the global menu, to use the old gtk2 menu, it works fine
(env UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 gvbam).

This emulator works fine in others desktops, like xfce, mate and kde.

[Bug 378561] Re: [needs-packaging] vbam

2014-04-08 Thread Sergio Benjamim
** Description changed:

- VBA-M is Nintendo Advance emulator that's a little more sophisticated
- than the traditional VBA. It includes two versions, an SDL version that
- runs from the commandline, and gvbam that runs as a gtk window and uses
- cairo and/or OpenGL. At the moment, the software is probably still too
- unstable, but I'm building test packages in my PPA:
+ VBA-M is a [Super] Game Boy [Color / Advance] emulator for Windows,
+ Linux Mac. It is an improved fork from the inactive VisualBoyAdvance
+ project, adding several features as well as maintaining an up-to-date
+ codebase. After VisualBoyAdvance became inactive in 2004, several forks
+ began to appear such as VBALink, which allowed users to emulate the
+ linking of two Gameboy devices. Eventually, VBA-M was created, which
+ merged several of the forks into one codebase. Thus, the M in VBA-M
+ stands for Merge. (wiki)
+
+ It includes three versions: a SDL version that runs from the command
+ line, gvbam that runs as a gtk window and uses cairo and/or OpenGL, and
+ wxvbam, a very experimental VBA-M front-end using wxWidgets.
+
+ URL: http://vba-m.com/
+ http://sourceforge.net/projects/vbam/
+ License: GPLv2
+ Notes: runs much better than the VBA Express, and it is still in development

[Bug 378561] Re: [needs-packaging] vbam

2014-04-08 Thread Sergio Benjamim
The last version of vba-m with some patchs to work in ubuntu is here:

code.launchpad.net/~sergio-br2/vbam/fixes

The ppa for testing the 1229 svn version (only trusty packages):

launchpad.net/~sergio-br2/+archive/vbam-trunk

If you are using Unity, there is a problem related with that integrated
window menu (some menus will not work or will get weird behavior, and
there are issues with save and load games). Runs gvbam with this:

env UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 gvbam

Other know issue is that sometimes it loses all config (paths, bios,
sound...).

[Bug 1302012] [NEW] VLC failing to use vdpau

2014-04-03 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

I installed nvidia-331-updates (331.38) for my Nvidia GT218 (NVS 300)
and i'm trying to use vdpau in VLC. I enabled this by hardware
decoding in Tools -- Preferences menu. It seems that it use VA-API to
access vdpau features.

But It seems that it does not work. Take a look:

VLC media player 2.1.2 Rincewind (revision 2.1.2-0-ga4c4876)

So, i look for this nvidia_drv_video.so, but there is no file such this in the
system.

2014-03-20 Thread Sergio Benjamim
I installed kernel 3.14.0-031400rc7 from ubuntu mainline, and it is not
working too.

The git repo from this FreedomBen has not a branch for kernel 3.13 or
3.14, so it is useless to trusty (well, i don't know if it's possible to
use ubuntu-13.10 branch for trusty). And there is a issue reported, with
wifi connection ok but without internet connection:

[Bug 1292730] Re: Optimus: Nvidia Settings asks sudo password to change between Nvidia and Intel card

2014-03-17 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Ok, bbswitch does, but it is unseen by end user (at least, when you use
bumblebee, for example).

Is this behavior not unfriendly for user perspective? (and I'm not
talking about logout and login after the change...)

[Bug 1291454] Re: spontaneously logged out of lightdm session, authentication failed until logind restarted

2014-03-15 Thread Sergio Benjamim
I had a similar problem:

- i was in my regular user and did a suspend in the laptop
- someone turn on my laptop, and the system went to lightdm, then the person
choose Guest Account
- some time after, the Guest was suddenly logged out

Then after, i tried to login to Guest, and shortly after it logged out.
I logged in to my user, and changed the tty, and i realized that there
was 3 locked tty.

[Bug 1231725] Re: bbswitch-dkms causes forced shutdown (even in reboot)

2014-03-13 Thread Sergio Benjamim
It seems that nvidia-prime bring a solution for this bbswitch issue:

- Make sure that NVIDIA is always enabled on shutdown.
This will avoid issues with the BIOS. -- changelog of version 0.5

So, is it better to change the package affected to bumblebee? It should
install /etc/init/bbswitch.conf, like comment #3.

(see Bug #1268217, there is a problem about bumblebee and nvidia-prime,
the 2 packages must conflict, but they don't)

[Bug 1281846] [NEW] Temporary black screen after login

2014-02-18 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

I turn on my laptop, wait lightdm appears, and do login to my user.

open a terminal with Ctrl+Alt+t, and run firefox using terminal, for

more, like 1 minute, my desktop appears (background, unity launcher, top
panel...).

can confirm with other, a sony laptop with only intel graphics card).

[Bug 1099787] Re: Dash blur is too slow to fade in. Please don't fade it unless you can make it faster/smoother.

2014-01-31 Thread Sergio Benjamim
This fade in/out issue with unity dash working with export
UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1 is still a problem in trusty. Even with blur
disable, fade in/out makes system slow, depending of your hardware
config.

[Bug 1087347] Re: scilab-sivp not working

2014-01-31 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Same problem with trusty. Opencv version 2.4.6. Did the symlinks:

ln -r -s libopencv_calib3d.so.2.4.6 libopencv_calib3d.so
ln -r -s libopencv_contrib.so.2.4 libopencv_contrib.so
ln -r -s libopencv_core.so.2.4.6 libopencv_core.so
ln -r -s libopencv_features2d.so.2.4.6 libopencv_features2d.so
ln -r -s libopencv_flann.so.2.4.6 libopencv_flann.so
ln -r -s libopencv_highgui.so.2.4.6 libopencv_highgui.so
ln -r -s libopencv_imgproc.so.2.4.6 libopencv_imgproc.so
ln -r -s libopencv_legacy.so.2.4.6 libopencv_legacy.so
ln -r -s libopencv_ml.so.2.4.6 libopencv_ml.so
ln -r -s libopencv_objdetect.so.2.4.6 libopencv_objdetect.so
ln -r -s libopencv_video.so.2.4.6 libopencv_video.so

And now it works.

** Description changed:

- Sivp does not work with Quantal Quetzcoalt. When I try to load this
