[Bug 1810239] Re: amd_iommu conflict with Marvell 88SE9230 SATA Controller

2019-03-03 Thread Steven Ellis
I've only recently traced the issue to the iommu kernel option. This
device has been unstable since I bought it and I pull it out
occasionally to see if the driver issues have been addressed.

I'm afraid that the test system I'm using is currently unavailable. I'll
post an update when I have a chance for fresh testing.

[Bug 1810546] Re: AMDGPU VMC page fault with Athlon 200GE APU

2019-01-05 Thread Steven Ellis
Switched back to the Stock 18.04 LTS kernel and installed
 - amdgpu-pro-18.50-708488-ubuntu-18.04
 - https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-lin-18-50-unified

With straight amdgpu support VDPAU doesn't work correctly and I needed
to install the full amdgpu-pro version. So far system is stable and I
haven't had any new amdgpu lockups.

I'd prefer to use the pure amdgpu opensource drive, but even the
upstream 4.20 kernel has issues.

[Bug 1790430] Re: Nonce issues with auth_digest when running behind an reverse proxy

2018-11-25 Thread Steven Ellis
Initial Authentication is occurring at the Apache reverse proxy. This
means I can block any requests to Trac or other internal services I'm
proxying at the edge.

Then Trac has its own auth config - again via Apache on Ubuntu 16.04.

Sorry correction - Ubuntu 16.04.5 with kernel - 4.4.0-133-generic

It looks like the CVE around nonce generation impacts the authentication
when behind another Apache instance acting as a reverse proxy.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 14.04.5 with apache2 2.4.18-2ubuntu3.8

No issues with apache2 2.4.18-2ubuntu3.5 or earlier.

I'm running a front end authenticated reverse proxy on Apache

The backend is my Trac server and authentication is failing with nonce
errors if I upgrade the version of Apache2.

Example error in the Apache2 logs when I attempt to authenticate

[Bug 1637073] [NEW] Intel Xorg Driver and CustomEDID crash

2016-10-26 Thread Steven Ellis
Public bug reported:

Running MythBuntu 16.04.1 on a Gigibyte Brix N3150 with integrated Intel
graphics.

To avoid the xfce bug from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1308105
I've previously forced the EDID settings via an xorg.conf file with
NVidia graphics.

If i use the following xorg.conf file with Intel graphics the mythfe (MythTV
Frontend) user can't login.

   Driver  "intel"
   Option  "AccelMethod" "sna"

Same issue here under Karmic with OpenVPN.

I'm using TLS with no password.

Changing the Type to Password with Certificates (TLS) and a dummy
username/password means OpenVPN connections are reliable again.

[Bug 516684] Re: After upgrade from Karmic boot fails, mountall and udevd fail

2010-05-14 Thread Steven Ellis
Ive hit the same issue upgrading an Ubuntu 8.04 Xen VM to Lucid 10.04.

The host is running Centos 5.3 and I have a mix of Centos, Debian and
Ubuntu VMs. The Debian VMs upgraded to Lenny without incident but It
appears I can't run a paravirt Lucid VM on top of Centos.

If I try to boot with a Lucid kernel (2.6.24-21-xen) I get

Ok upgrading the Xen VM didn't install a Xen compatible kernel and it
reverted to older 8.04 kernels.

Install linux-image-virtual and I'm now up and working

[Bug 556204] Re: myth-backend started before kernel driver it needs

2010-05-12 Thread Steven Ellis
I'm running 10.04 with the recent 0.23 auto-builds and I have a dual
tuner HVR-2200 card.

This combination has the same on boot race condition where the dual
DVB-T tuners are still initialising after the backend has started and
the devices are then missing from the available tuners.

Modifying /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf to contain and started udev-
finish as suggested above has resolved the problem.

[Bug 554971] [NEW] Program Guide DST offset is GMT and not Local

2010-04-03 Thread Steven Ellis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

It appears that the MythTV Program Guide is using some additional logic
to align the EPG data around DST changes but is using GMT rather than
local time as the base.

This is particularly noticeable in NZ where the schedule was off by an
hour until 3pm NZST or 3am GMT today.

I have been able to reproduce this problem under MythBuntu 9.10 with
MythTV 0.22, and MythBuntu 10.04 Beta and MythTV 0.23.

To reproduce from a clean install, install Mythbuntu selecting NZ as
your region and then set the local clock back to 9am on Sunday 4th April
2010.

Create a dummy Video Source with no grabber, and set the XMLTV offset to
AUTO.

Create a channel with xmltvid 1036.dvb.guide.

Then import the attached XMLTV EPG data. All programs prior to 3pm are
incorrectly loaded into the guide. For example Herbie Fully Loaded
should start at 1:40pm and has been scheduled for 2:40pm.

I have confirmed that this issue wasn't present on an older Knoppmyth
environment running MythTV 0.20 with the same EPG data.

as the actual transcode has finished.

[Bug 481104] [NEW] mythtranscode doesn't exit on completion

2009-11-11 Thread Steven Ellis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv-transcode-utils

System is running Mythbuntu 9.10 with mythtv-transcode-utils =
0.22.0+fixes22594-0ubuntu1

I'm running a bunch of lossless transcodes on DVB-S MPEG2 captures. The
transcode completes but the process doesn't exit which uses up memory
and leaves files locked.

Output in mythtvbackend.log as follows

[Bug 240336] Re: Microsoft Remote Back Button not mapped

2009-11-02 Thread Steven Ellis
On our myPVR environment we map the Back key to Esc as suggested by the
bug reporter

See http://support.openmedia.co.nz/mypvr/support/remote-control-and-
custom-key-mappings/ for more details.

The code we use is.

begin
remote = mceusb
prog = mythtv
button = Back
config = Escape
repeat = 0
delay = 0
end

[Bug 472131] [NEW] Incorrect mapping of Record action for mceusb remotes

2009-11-02 Thread Steven Ellis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythbuntu-lirc-generator

You are mapping RecTV to the key R rather than the Rec button

begin
remote = mceusb
prog = mythtv
button = RecTV
config = R
repeat = 0
delay = 0
end

The generated lirc file should have

begin
remote = mceusb
prog = mythtv
button = Record
config = R
repeat = 0
delay = 0
end

[Bug 469999] Re: Adjusting MythTV GUI size makes XFCE Menu visible

2009-11-01 Thread Steven Ellis
It looks like the actual MythTV Frontend screen has been offset by XFCE.
If after restarting the frontend application you start up the Screen
Setup Wizard the base starting point is below the XFCE menu.

Enabling Autohide in the XFCE panel settings will fix this, but it
doesn't feel like it is the correct solution, especially if you are only
trying to adjust the width of the GUI due to overscan.

[Bug 430595] Re: scan from dvb-apps fails when using diseqc commands

2009-09-16 Thread Steven Ellis
Issue relates to changes in util/scan.c that won't allow a diseqc change
unless high and switch values are provided when using a custom LNB type

The following command will work with a diseqc

/usr/bin/scan -5  -l 11300,11300,11300 -s 3 D2.aurora

The following logic is incorrect as it is possible to use a monopoint
LNB via a DiSEqc

if (lnb_type.high_val) {
if (lnb_type.switch_val) {
/* Voltage-controlled switch */
int hiband = 0;

if (p.frequency = lnb_type.switch_val)
hiband = 1;

setup_switch (frontend_fd,
  switch_pos,
  t-polarisation ==
POLARISATION_VERTICAL ? 0 : 1,
  hiband);
usleep(5);
if (hiband)
p.frequency = abs(p.frequency -
lnb_type.high_val);
else
p.frequency = abs(p.frequency -
lnb_type.low_val);
} else {
/* C-Band Multipoint LNBf */
p.frequency = abs(p.frequency -
(t-polarisation == POLARISATION_VERTICAL ?
lnb_type.low_val:
lnb_type.high_val));
}
} else  {
/* Monopoint LNBf without switch */
p.frequency = abs(p.frequency - lnb_type.low_val);
}

[Bug 218126] Re: xen guest kernel bug: 'kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/debian/build/custom-source-xen/drivers/xen/netfront/netfront.c:785'

I've just booted the same guest with the 2.6.24-19-xen kernel from

I need to stress test the Xen guest a bit but it appears to have
resolved the netfront:855 issue

Can anyone provide detail on what has been patched in this kernel
compared with the Ubuntu supplied one?

[Bug 218126] Re: xen guest kernel bug: 'kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/debian/build/custom-source-xen/drivers/xen/netfront/netfront.c:785'

2008-06-03 Thread Steven Ellis
Ok not looking that good with the xen kernel from
http://www.il.is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~hiranotaka/

There appears to be a conflict with the version of libc6-xen as if I
move /lib/tls to /lib/tls/disabled.new then these apps start working
correctly.

[Bug 204578] Re: 2.6.24.12 won't boot with em28xx device

2008-06-02 Thread Steven Ellis
Got it working on 2.6.24-17-generic with my HVR900 but I had to clean up
some old conflicting kernel modules

# First backup the existing kernel modules
cd /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic
tar -zcf 2.6.24-17-generic.bak.tgz 2.6.24-17-generic

# Then copy over the empia driver from 2.6.24-16-generic
cp -a /lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/empia /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic

# Then delete any conflicting packages
cd /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/kernel
ls /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/empia/ | while read i; do find . -name $i
-exec rm -f {} \; ; done

Now DVB and analogue both work
