[Bug 246185] Re: Unlock Private Key dialog mysteriously refers to an application
Is there some way to determine what started gnome-keyring-prompt via the command line by looking at the process list? Maybe there is some other way? Re: [Bug 48725] Re: vncviewer in ubuntu has usability issues
This is still an issue. Try accessing a vnc server that requires a password. The dialog box that pops up to allow you to enter you password doesn't give you any feedback that you are entering a password. It should give feed back like gdm does when you login. Also, if the resolution of the machine you are accessing is larger than the screen you are using to view the vnc'd machine, then there will be scrollbars. However, they aren't like normal scroll bars in gnome. There isn't a slider to grab. You have to click either the left or right mouse button to make it move up/down or left/right. I think the proper solution would be to use a gnome app that wraps the vnc viewer functionality. The vnc viewer appears to be just an X app. I think I first saw this issue on edgy. Public bug reported: I've been running a clean install of Fiesty for several weeks now. The first kernel version I have installed is 2.6.20-6. The other day I performed an apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade. This installed a new version of the kernel. The new version was 2.6.20-10-generic. When I cold booted the system after the install, the usplash screen loads and the progress bar stops at about 2 or 3 percent and hangs. The progress bar never moves and it doesn't finish booting. If I try starting the system using the recovery mode it gets to a point where I start seeing ATA errors. If I select the 2.6.20-9-generic kernel or prior version the system boots fine within 30 seconds. I've since performed another dist-upgrade and now have the 2.6.20-11-generic kernel installed and it hangs the same as the -10 kernel. Public bug reported: The latest Ubuntu server documentation located at http://help.ubuntu.com needs an addition. The nfs client instructions don't mention the need for the portmap package to be installed on the client. While the current documentation works on a clean install of Ubuntu 6.10, the mount command can take 3 to 5 minutes before the mount completes. It is my understanding that NFS uses RPC rather frequently, and the fallback alternatives take a long time to negotiate when portmap isn't installed. It took me weeks of searching for the causes of slow NFS share mounting before I discovered this issue.
