[Bug 2012827] Re: appstream://org.kde.plasma-monitor not found
This issue persists, and the error now says that appstream://org.kde.plasma-systemmonitor wasn't found in the software repo. It's now looking for the component ID that @ximion reported above as the correct one. This is keeping the app from getting updated. [Bug 854333] Re: ibus GUI not loading, unable to use input
This issue occurs in Kubuntu 20.04 even with gnome-icon-theme installed. The panel icon/applet goes missing while ibus-daemon is running. The keyboard shortcut to switch input methods also stops working. Workaround: ibus-daemon -rxd This restarts the daemon, and causes the icon/applet to appear in the panel and makes the keyboard shortcut to work as intended. This workaround is temporary and has to be repeated every time the issue occurs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/854333 Title: ibus GUI not loading, unable to use input To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/854333/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1450085] Re: kio_sftp can't connect to hosts after OpenSSH 6 has cached their ECDSA key
I started with a fresh ~/.ssh/known_hosts and first tried connecting to a a remote machine using SFTP in Dolphin. The record this wrote to ~/.ssh/known_hosts begins with [hostname]:port ssh-rsa. Apparently, SFTP in Kubuntu 15.04 does not handle ECDSA keys, which are what SSH creates by default. However, SSH does seem to handle RSA keys, I was able to connect to the remote machine with the key. The workaround is to first connect using SFTP to any remote machine if you need to connect to it using both SSH and SFTP. Incidentally, I did build and install libssh from the latest source (v. 0.7.1), which made no difference. The libssh.org site (https://www.libssh.org/documentation/) says, KDE uses libssh to implement the sftp module to allow secure file transfers between different computers. That doesn't appear to be true at least in Kubuntu 15.04. [Bug 953875] Re: Encrypted swap no longer mounted at bootup
I discovered this issue with Kubuntu 14.04 which I installed from scratch using a CD/DVD. During installation I selected full-disk encryption as well as an encrypted home directory -- my understanding is that home directory encryption also encrypts the swap space. Below is the current state of the drives. Note that: 1. 'blkid' does not list swap, and /proc/swaps is empty; however, 2. /etc/crypttab has entries that apparentlly correspond to the encrypted disk as well as the swap, as does /etc/fstab; but 3. 'swapon' does not like the swap drive/s. I only have a single physical disk (plus the optical drive). ==blkid=== $ sudo blkid /dev/sda1: UUID=f8ac0867-47e7-4c5c-8988-ab680388df78 TYPE=ext2 /dev/sda5: UUID=2fb151ab-a2e3-4007-9cff-a61034e7a0c7 TYPE=crypto_LUKS /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt: UUID=8tXqxi-M5bU-r75F-4VPY-ur6s-60P6-3qK3uV TYPE=LVM2_member /dev/mapper/kubuntu--vg-root: UUID=67d318ec-2121-4da9-a705-7258033d64b3 TYPE=ext4 =fdisk=== $ sudo fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders, total 625142448 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00037417 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 *2048 499711 248832 83 Linux /dev/sda2 501758 625141759 3123200015 Extended /dev/sda5 501760 625141759 31232 83 Linux Disk /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt: 319.8 GB, 319813582848 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38881 cylinders, total 624635904 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x Disk /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt doesn't contain a valid partition table Disk /dev/mapper/kubuntu--vg-root: 313.4 GB, 313377423360 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38099 cylinders, total 612065280 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x Disk /dev/mapper/kubuntu--vg-root doesn't contain a valid partition table Disk /dev/mapper/kubuntu--vg-swap_1: 6417 MB, 6417285120 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 780 cylinders, total 12533760 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x Disk /dev/mapper/kubuntu--vg-swap_1 doesn't contain a valid partition table =/etc/fstab== # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a # device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices # that works even if disks are added and removed. [Bug 1263540] Re: Apt-get reports NO_PUBKEY gpg error for keys that are present in trusted.gpg.
I saw the following while attempting to work around this issue: 1. In addition to /etc/apt/trusted.gpg, each *.gpg file in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ is a separate keyring, often containing a single key for the corresponding repository. This could effectively limit the number of repos/packages one can have, if the total number of keyrings exceeds GnuPG's limit. 2. Deleting a key ('apt-key del keyID'), or removing a repository (e.g., using Synaptic), removes the key from its keyring in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ but leaves the empty keyring in the location. After I removed the empty keyring files, the resource limit message did not appear and 'apt-get update' did not complain about NO_PUBKEY. So, once GnuPG's maximum number of keyrings is reached, one has to manually remove the empty keyring files, in addition to removing package repositories, in order to avoid the NO_PUBKEY scenario. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263540 Title: Apt-get reports NO_PUBKEY gpg error for keys that are present in trusted.gpg. [Bug 910438] [NEW] Menu items don't get sorted.
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.10 amd64 Alacarte version: 0.13.2-2ubuntu3 Upon adding/modifying menu items, they get sorted automatically. However, something causes this auto-sort to stop happening. This is not a new problem, it happened to me once before, a couple of Ubuntu versions ago. At that time, I had to wipe out and recreate the menu in order to get the sort working again. Public bug reported: With the following in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf ... greeter-hide-users=true ...the login screen suppresses the user name/s as expected. However, if the session is locked, say due to inactivity, when attempting to unlock it both the user name and real name are displayed in the dialog and the panel. The popping/skipping has returned. Note my comment #29 -- position_fix=1 did not fix the issue then, so I'm not sure if this fix is even relevant to my case. If it is not, apologies. [Bug 545065] Re: pulseaudio ratelimit.c messages and jittery sound
The issue is not just the recurring ratelimit.c messages in the logs. The jittery sound, or skipping/stuttering, renders the system unusable for multimedia voice comm. It is not clear whether the log messages are related to the sound problem, but they do seem to occur together. It would help to know what is known so far about these issues. People seem to have been able to fix the sound problems by upgrading to Alsa 1.0.23, but I'm not one of them. Disabling PulseAudio sometimes eliminates the skipping/stuttering, but not consistently. ** Attachment added: alsa-info https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/545065/+attachment/1524294/+files/alsa-info_100828-003736.txt -- pulseaudio ratelimit.c messages and jittery sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545065 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The importance of this issue should be Medium, if not High, since it prevents boot-up. Secondly, the Warning re the update-initramfs failure should at least include an alert to fix it before the next shutdown/reboot. [Bug 497110] Re: WARNING: found more than one resume device candidate - concerning same partition
System: Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 Kernel: 2.6.32-23 I saw this warning during the installation of the hibernate script and uswsusp -- log excerpt attached. However, the warning wasn't a mere annoyance; it caused boot up to fail, with the console reporting failed to stat resume device followed by: cryptsetup: WARNING: found more than one resume device candidate: /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 UUID=9357635d-66da-422e-a138-3dc24ecac143 cryptsetup: WARNING: target cryptswap1 has a random key, skipped Using an install CD I ran the rescue, logged in as root and uninstalled hibernate uswsusp, which also resulted in the same warning. I was only able to boot using a previous version of the kernel -- the install log didn't show update-initramfs generating (or attempting to generate) any initrd.img except for that for the latest kernel version. I later found this explanation, which recommends doing this as a last resort: https://ubuntugenius.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/fix-a-failed- initramfs-update-do-it-before-you-reboot/ ** Changed in: cryptsetup (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Attachment added: hibernate-uswsusp-install-cryptsetup-warning.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/52231946/hibernate-uswsusp-install-cryptsetup-warning.log -- WARNING: found more than one resume device candidate - concerning same partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497110 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
