[Bug 1885085] Re: Suspend is not deep

2021-09-09 Thread Bhaskar Chawla
I have the same problem but this solution does not work for me. Suspend
remains at [s2idle] even after editing the grub file.

[Bug 1876511] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 HDMI audio is unplugged

2020-05-02 Thread Bhaskar Nair
Public bug reported:

Since I upgraded from Ubuntu 19.10 to Ubuntu 20.04, I have been unable
to direct my sound output to my HDMI monitor. The option is not shown in
the settings GUI and if I try to set it in the configuration menu of
PulseAudio Volume Control, all the options in the profile list show
(unplugged) (unavailable). This was running perfect before the upgrade.

I have tried all the suggestions I could find on the net so far, but
nono of them worked.

The graphics card is NVidia GTX 1660.

2020-04-08 Thread Bhaskar Chatterjee
Yes.

Please refer to the file in the attachment for 'journalctl -b 0' after
the crash was triggered. Output was taken while the system was in frozen
condition from TTY.

[Bug 1871534] Re: Ubuntu dock causes Gnome shell to crash

2020-04-08 Thread Bhaskar Chatterjee
Hi Daniel,

I was unable to perform step 1 even after reproducing the crash. No new
crash files were generated (related to this issue) after reproducing the
crash in /var/crash.

I logged in to TTY (during the crash) and noticed in htop that one of my CPU
core (3) was running at 100% which was utilized by gnome-shell. I found the
only way to get my computer to respond was to perform:
Killall -3 gnome-shell or systtemctl poweroff -i or by performing hard reset by
holding the power button and and in all these cases the crash files were not
being generated.

However, here are some of the links from step-2:

[Bug 1871534] [NEW] Ubuntu dock causes Gnome shell to crash

2020-04-07 Thread Bhaskar Chatterjee
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu dock is causing the gnome shell to crash especially while opening
appfolders and clicking out of the app folders. Same problem was also
observed during minimizing and maximizing (by clicking the launcher
button).

The entire gnome shell was frozen; none of the key bindings worked -
except the only option was to switch to the tty by hitting alt-ctrl-f3
and restart from there.

I have played around with all the options in the settings by installing dash to
dock extension (since some settings seems to be shared) including transparency,
Auto hide, panel & icon size with all kinds of combinations and I managed to
fix this issue by disabling / unchecking the option:
Panel mode:extend to screen edge.

After disabling/Unchecking the option- Panel mode:extend to screen edge;
this problem could not be replicated again.

[Bug 1621108] [NEW] chromium-browser 52.0.2743.116-0ubuntu0.16.04.1.1250 crashes on startup

2016-09-07 Thread bhaskar
Public bug reported:

This is after updating on September 6. The previous version ran without
any problems.

It crashes with or without --temp-profile. I am reporting the crash with
--temp-profile since I presume that has fewer complications for someone
debugging the issue.

[Bug 1449726] [NEW] Kubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) plasmashell crashes with segmentation fault

2015-04-28 Thread bhaskar
Public bug reported:

At random times - every few minutes, the taskbar disappears and I get a
pop up window that has two tabs, a General tab and a Developer
information tab. The General tab says:

---
We are sorry, Plasma closed unexpectedly.

You can help us improve KDE Software by reporting this error.

bug.

If I click on Report Bug, it takes me to the Crash Reporting Assistant.
I click on No, I do not remember what I was doing. It tries to generate
a bug report and then says This report does not contain enough
information for the developers …. I will see whether I can attach the
contents of the report generated by the assistant to this report.

In case it helps, I have multiple desktop packages (ubuntu-desktop,
xubuntu-desktop, etc.) installed on my laptop, but only started up KDE
after boot.

Re: [Bug 1315027] Re: [Dell Precision M6600] Suspend puts laptop in state requiring hard power down + power up

2014-11-14 Thread bhaskar
Christopher --

I'll try to get to this in mid-December. I have a travel schedule over the
next few weeks that makes it hard to try much. I do note that the
frequency of the problem (upgraded to 14.10, with 3.16.0-24; still using
proprietary nvidia drivers) has gone way down, and perhaps even gone away -
I have not had this problem in a month, although I once experienced a
different issue with not waking up from sleep which I will report if it
happens again.

Thanks for your help.

bhaskar, just to clarify, testing the latest mainline kernel (3.18-rc4)
would require not using the proprietary nvidia drivers, as the ones in
the Ubuntu repositories are built for them. However, this testing gives
a data point to if using the nvidia drivers is a potential root cause.

[Bug 1313952] Re: octave-cli: ../../../../../../../src/mesa/drivers/dri/i965/brw_eu_emit.c:267: validate_reg: Assertion `execsize = width' failed.

2014-08-17 Thread Bhaskar Divya
The bug is due to the use of MarkFaceColor in plot function.
for example, it crashes when i use,
plot(X(neg, 1), X(neg, 2), 'ko', 'MarkerFaceColor', 'y', 'MarkerSize', 7)

but it will not crash when the plot function is used as
plot(X(neg, 1), X(neg, 2), 'ko', 'MarkerSize', 7)

Hope its fixed soon.

2014-05-12 Thread bhaskar
Christopher --

I just looked at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=showredirect=KernelMainlineBuildswhere
the link you posted (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds) redirects, and I see one
stumbling block. I'm using the proprietary nvidia drivers because the
default noveau driver only gives me 1024x768 on my laptop, whereas the
display is actually 1600x900. Since I can't get useful work done at
1024x768, I will either have to figure out how to get an nvidia driver
working with 3.15-rc5, or I will need to figure out how to get the noveau
driver to give me 1600x900.

I'll see if I can figure out a solution and keep you posted. Thanks for
the response.

[Bug 1315027] [NEW] Suspend puts laptop in state requiring hard power down + power up

2014-05-01 Thread bhaskar
Public bug reported:

At random (I estimate perhaps 20-25% of the time), when I suspend my
Kubuntu 14.04 (upgraded from 13.10, not a fresh install) laptop, it
blanks the screen, and displays a message such as that below on the text
console. Then, instead of going to sleep, it remains powered up. In
this state, nothing works to get back control, not Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-
Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-F2 (or other function key), not ^C. The only
way I have found to get control is to hold the power button down, which
is a power-down and then power-up.

Message on console is:

[40066.396632] PM: Syncing filesystems ... done
[40066.767832] PM: Preparing system for mem sleep
[40066.768398] i2400m_usb 2-1.5:1.0: firmware i6050-fw-usb-1.5.sbcf: Cached

[Bug 1311098] Re: [Gigabyte Z68AP-D3] System won't suspend after upgrading to 14.04

2014-04-30 Thread bhaskar
I have this problem too. I tried running appport-collect (Kubuntu/KDE
desktop). It opened a chromium browser window and asked for my
authorization, but appport-collect never got beyond Waiting to hear…
so I hit ^C

$ apport-collect 1311098
The authorization page:

should be opening in your browser. Use your browser to authorize
this program to access Launchpad on your behalf.
Press any key to continue or wait (5) seconds...
Waiting to hear from Launchpad about your decision...

ERROR: connecting to Launchpad failed: [Errno 110] Connection timed out
You can reset the credentials by removing the file
/home/kbhaskar/.cache/apport/launchpad.credentials

If there is additional information I can provide, I will do so gladly.
Also, I will try running an upstream kernel sometime and report the
result.

Re: [Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files

very unfortunate...
because. the same file could be opened in a previous version of evince. If
it was broken, that shouldn't have been possible. I don't think its a
problem with gnuplot.

[Bug 1271451] Re: qpdfview 0.4.3-1 doesn't open ps and eps files properly

Hi Benjamin

I tried opening my ps and eps files with evince first. It did not work
properly. The problem is the same. The file opens when rotated by +90
deg ( ctrl+ right ) or -90 deg ( ctrl+ left ) but not otherwise. So I
thought to try out alternative applications like qpdfview.

 using
Windows for many years and Windows office products. Windows 7 is the
better side of Windows since Windows 98. I don't use Windows 8 even

[Bug 909865] Re: Broadcom BCM2035 not working in ubuntu natty or oneiric

2012-02-05 Thread Bhaskar Divya
Some success at last...
I purged bluez via
sudo apt-get remove --purge bluez

then installed bluez from here

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/4.69-0ubuntu2/+build/1930179

these are maverick's version of bluez.
Now Blueman detects my mobile and i can browse files on it.
Still DUN is a problem a bit.
But that seems to be another bug.
