[Bug 1333140] Re: Fix udev rules to consider mmc rpmb partitions
I have done repeated installs of 14.04 LTS and 15.04 on an HP Stream 11 notebooks. This issue generally does NOT occur, other than briefly during initial load of Ubuntu installer (and sometimes during early stages of install). This adds no more than 15% to the time it takes to install Ubuntu (with eMMC storage), and will usually take less than 30 minutes. However, I realised recently that this was ONLY true for new machines, or those I had already installed Ubuntu on. Out of the box, I was interrupting initial startup (at screen backlight on) to go directly to (BIOS controls for) booting from USB device. For machines that had were already running Windows 8.1 (or even just asking for region / user details), it will no longer cleanly install Ubuntu. I have had it take from 2 hours to 5-7 hours, or just stall (after about 40 minutes) with continuous errors. This appears to be spurious interrupts (which cause further errors) due to attempts to access the RPMB partition. I am NOT even convinced that the Ubuntu installer is causing these interrupts. The other possible 'root cause' is that the problem machines (NEW or used) were older, the same model Notebook but with an earlier generation / step release of eMMC chips. I don't have a large enough pool to prove this, but someone may be able to shed light. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1333140 Title: Fix udev rules to consider mmc rpmb partitions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1333140/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 332646] Re: sftp does not set timestamps
This was partially fixed in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (desktop). Puch / Puill: If you copy from a remote Ubuntu platform, then the timestamp is preserved. But if you copy too, then only some platforms honour the timestamp (otherwise it is set to 'now' by the receiving platform). Tested today with full patched Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS desktop, server, and Ubuntu 13.04 desktop (all 64-bit): - Copying from 13.04 desktop to 12.04 desktop ( Ok ) - Copying from 13.04 desktop to 12.04 server ( timestamp replaced, with 'now' ) - Copying from 12.04 desktop to 13.04 desktop ( Ok ) - Copying from 12.04 desktop to 12.04 server ( Ok, but new directories have timestamp of 'now' ) This should be fixed, and be consistent. [Bug 176844] Re: ntpdate fails to get a server from /etc/ntp.conf
I may yet open a new bug, but in the meantime some comments .. ntpdate fails to get a server from /etc/ntp.conf YES. In my testing (Ubuntu 12.10, server, 64bit), ntpdate does NOT use the NTP servers listed in /etc/ntp.conf. Therefore, not honouring the setting: NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=yes in file: /etc/default/ntpdate However, NTP and NTPDATE don't play well, and really only NTP needs to work once the system is running (and 'nearly' synced). You also need to stop/start NTP, before/after attempting to use NTPDATE: ntpq -np ntpq -c rl sudo service ntp stop ntpdate -q 1.au.pool.ntp.org sudo service ntp start ntpq -np ntpq -c rl And (surprise) NTPDATE uses a completely different file (/etc/ntp/step-tickers) to list time servers, to get the initial reasonable time sync, to allow NTP to then keep in sync. RevertingIntelDriverTo2.4 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReinhardTartler/X/RevertingIntelDriverTo2.4 ( Does NOT work, missing details and valid PPA sources .. ) Instead I used: Downgraded versions of X.org drivers, libraries, etc. for Ubuntu. https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-retro Click on: 'View package details' Click on: 'xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4 - 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu11~ppa1' (near bottom) Download: https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-retro/+files/xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4_2.4.1-1ubuntu11%7Eppa1_i386.deb Then installed using: Ctrl-Alt-F1, for text login cd Downloads/ (location of .deb file) sudo dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4_2.4.1-1ubuntu11~ppa1_i386.deb (enter password) sudo apt-get -f install (re-start PC) THIS DID NOT APPEAR TO FIX PROBLEM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882893 Title: gnome-screensaver 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 failed to exit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/882893/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 882893] [NEW] gnome-screensaver 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 failed to exit
Public bug reported: On older PC (Intel P4 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM), I am seeing this lockup with default settings. Ubuntu 11.10, Unity-2D, latest patch/updates loaded. Occurs when I wait for timeout, and screen blanks. Does NOT occur when select screen-lock (from GUI, or keyboard) I have now two separate PCs, with identical results. [Bug 882893] Re: gnome-screensaver 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 failed to exit
This can be defeated once, by pressing 'shift' key to wakeup. This works once (after boot time), and does NOT work a second time (after subsequent timeout). When PC is in lockout state, only power-off is possible. I have loaded SSH server, and machine is also non-responsive to connect attempt (over SSH). ** Tags added: 11.10 screensaver ui unity-2d -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882893 Title: gnome-screensaver 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 failed to exit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/882893/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 738462] Re: Nautilus not preserving timestamps (Lucid)
per #2 * Is this reproducible? YES * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug This affects ANY attempt to transfer files (using Nautilus 2.30.1) between two hosts with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on both, or from 10.04 LTS to 10.10 I have noted this on a number of occasions, on different hardware at multiples locations. [Bug 738462] [NEW] Nautilus not preserving timestamps (Lucid)
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 10.04.2 (Lucid), with latest updates, still uses Nautilus 2.30.1 .. If attempt to copy files using Nautilus, to another host, the date/time of files are NOT preserved. This occurred when attempting transferring of user files to a NEW PC (with fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10, w/ Nautilus 2.23.0). Workaround: Use new PC (with Ubuntu 10.10 Nautilus 2.32.0) instead, which DOES preserve date/times.
