[Bug 526482]

2011-01-27 Thread dysmann
The problem still exists with the latest Firefox trunk. This is very
annoying when you have to test printing to a PDF file many times in
order to get a perfect result (as a web developer and maybe as user
too).

I 100% agree with B.H., with the filename being filled by default with
the page filename without extension or the latest used one. This would
save o lot of time when testing.

I would also add (imho) :
 - PDF should be the default instead of PS, since I think PDF is much more
convenient as a portable format
 - The default name should not be .pdf or .ps, but rather out.pdf / out.ps
or $name.pdf / $name.ps where $name is the page filename without the extension.
This seems cleaner and doesn't give an hidden file.
 - The latest used printer should be pre-selected, even if the printer is
Print to a file (I'm using Ubuntu). If there is only one choice (one
printer), no need to ask the use to choose, just select it by default.

Should I post a new bug report for these last ideas ?

[Bug 412046] Re: [karmic] system freeze at startup when NetworkManager is loading after upgrade

2010-10-02 Thread dysmann
Sorry, I couldn't even manage to get my sis163u working... driver / card
present for ndiswrapper, nothing else. But I think you can close the bug
report, since my sister has a sis163u working perfectly with the latest
Ubuntu... (perfect meens here without suspend, and the obligation to install a
Windows driver, never buy a card with this chipset).
I didn't install the ndiswrapper driver in Ubuntu 10.04, it's an upgraded
system from Ubuntu 8.10 I think.

[Bug 641927] [NEW] little hangs after stand by; eth0: Too much work at interrupt, status=0x00ffffff

2010-09-18 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

When I wake up my computer after the stand by mode, I'm experiencing little
display hangs about every second.
When I read the output of dmesg, I can see plenty of lines like this one:

[ 5180.581960] eth0: Too much work at interrupt, status=0x00ff.

A new line like this appears for every hang.
My workaround is to run: ifconfig eth0 down
And the hang are not anymore.

Then, if I run ifconfig eth0 up, the hang happen again.

I'm running an updated Ubuntu 10.04 system, and here is my lspci output:

[Bug 412046] Re: [karmic] system freeze at startup when NetworkManager is loading after upgrade

2010-08-16 Thread dysmann
I don't know, since I don't use Ubuntu nor my Sis163u key anymore. I always had
problems with this key and network-manager...
I can try again if you want to ;)
Unfortunately, I don't have enough time for an OS install. Would it help if I
do this on september ?

[Bug 529379] [NEW] in Lucid, automonting devices doen't work with pcmanfm

2010-02-28 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pcmanfm

I did a minimal installation of Ubuntu with the alternate CD.
I installed lubuntu-desktop and rebooted.
I logged in, and opened pcmanfm.
I connected my USB key.

PCmanFM should have listed my device, but it didn't.
I know my key and my USB port both work.

That makes usb keys unusuable without command line. sudo mount
/dev/sdb1 /mnt works.

This is maybe related to hal since I know PCmanFM uses and depends on hal for
automounting devices.
Hal is installed in my computer and /etc/init.d/hal doesn't exist.

describer this here :

[Bug 435729] Re: In 3D games mouse self move to right-buttom

2009-10-30 Thread dysmann
I can reproduce this bug on the several sdl games I tested, like
OpenArena, Supertux and Supertux 2

I have a criminal + mouse and the cursor always get back to the bottom-right
corner at sensibilities 600, 800 and 1200 dpi. This bug seems to disappears at
sensibilities 1600 and 200 dpi.
I have another bug and I think it's linked : when I try to click with any
button of my mouse, the cursor get bak to the bottom-right corner, at any
sensibilities.

I have another mouse which hasn't control of sensibility, a Kensington mouse.
With this mouse, there isn't any bug.
I connected the two mouses at the same time to test this, so both were
connected when I did tests.

if the Kensington's one is not connected, then the bug is still present.

That's a regression because this bug doesn't exist in Jaunty and even in
Karmic Alpha 2.

[Bug 412046] Re: [karmic] system freeze at startup when loading gdm after upgrade

2009-08-21 Thread dysmann
I saw that NetworkManager doesn't lock up if I DON'T start dbus before.
I started a recovery mode session :

1) without dbus :

r...@computer:~# /etc/init.d/NetworkManager start
 * Starting network connexion manager NetworkManager [OK]
r...@computer:~# /etc/init.d/dbus start
 * Starting message system bus dbus [OK]
 = This doesn't freeze

r...@computer:~# /etc/init.d/hal start
 * Starting hardware abstraction layer hald [OK]
r...@computer:~# /etc/init.d/gdm start

Everything works, but when I want to connect with NetworkManager, the
icon reports that NetworkManager is not running. If I try to run it, my
computer freezes.

2) with dbus :

r...@computer:~# /etc/init.d/dbus start
 * Starting message system bus dbus [OK]

That's all.

I have a nvidia 8500 GT graphic card using nvidia's driver and my system
is up to date. I tried to remove nvidia-*, this bug still happens. I
tried this on kernels 2.6.30-8, 2.6.31-3, 2.6.31-4, 2.6.31-5.

I attached my gzipped /var/log/kern.log, it seems that there is
something interesting there (I saw the word segfault)

[Bug 412046] Re: [karmic] system freeze at startup when loading gdm after upgrade

2009-08-16 Thread dysmann
To encounter the problem, I do :

 - start the computer
 - let loading ubuntu
 - wait for graphical interface to load

What happens :

- Instead of loading GDM interface, a black screen appears and the
computer is looked

What should happen :

 - load GDM and not lock

I will try to do something when I have time, this week I won't probably
be able to do this.

[Bug 412046] Re: [karmic] system freeze at startup when loading gdm after upgrade

2009-08-14 Thread dysmann
I could see that dbus and hal are not involved in this bug.

I saw that NetworkManager causes the freeze. I removed it and Ubuntu
start normally.

I'm using ndiswrapper with a Sis163u chipset. NetworkManager is very
strange because sometimes it freezes, sometimes it doesn't. Every thing
works nice, and Freeze of Death comes back after an upgrade.

[Bug 412046] [NEW] [karmic] system freeze at startup when loading gdm after upgrade

2009-08-11 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

After a partial upgrade from karmic to the latest version, yesterday, my
system locks up at startup when loading the Xorg server. I tried to boot
from the recovery mode and did startx. It crashes. I tried to start
gdm, it locks up.

These problems disappear if I start dbus and hal :

/etc/init.d/dbus start
/etc/init.d/hal start

I don't know how to fix this permanantly and I'm forced to run in
recovery mode, without NetworkManager and in English.

I couldn't mount removable medias recognized as sdb1 utils removing related

[Bug 406995] [NEW] photorec is missing libntfs in Karmic

2009-07-30 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libntfs10

When I try to launch photorec from the testdisk package in karmic I get
:

photorec: error while loading shared libraries: libntfs.so.10: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory

I researched in which package was this file and I found libntfs10,
which was already installed.

I fixed this problem installing jaunty's version of libntfs10 and it
just worked.

I successfully recovered many photos from a friend's SD card (FAT16, not
NTFS). Pictures were lost and nobody know why.

[Bug 404784] [NEW] authentification is required to mount the device just after login

2009-07-26 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

In Karmic, every time I open a new session (even if the user is not
sudo-enabled), I'm asked for my password to automount a partition.
 - I don't want to
 - This is a backup partition : I don't want it to be automounted
 - A normal user won't be able to mount it because root privilege is needed, so
it shouldn't be asking for

See the attachement, you can see the dialog asking for automounting my
partiion. Sorry, it's partially french.

 - I think automounting of root-privileges needing partitions should be
desactivated by default

 - Mounting root-privileges needing partitions for a normal user
shouldn't even ask for the password given the access is denied anyway.
Another idea would be giving the choice between all sudo-enabled users
in the dialog asking for password, and the good password could be given.
It would be nice for administrators when they are in a normal user
session.

[Bug 403363] [NEW] OpenAL-based applications' sound is jerky

2009-07-23 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libopenal1

In applications based on OpenAL, like FlightGear or OpenArena, sound is jerky.
Adding the following line in /etc/openal/alsoft.conf seems to fix the problem :

drivers = pulse

Found here :
http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#OpenALApplications

Works in Karmic, not tested in Jaunty (but Jaunty's jerky sound in
OpenAL seems to be worse)

my libopenal1 version : 1:1.8.466-2

** Affects: openal-soft (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 403377] [NEW] Google Custom Search for Ubuntu is a pain

2009-07-23 Thread dysmann
Public bug reported:

In Karmic, Google Custom Search for Ubuntu become the default in
Firefox.

The search results are unfriendly, ugly and in English, which is bad for
people who doesn't talk English. Why did you replace the good and easy
Google Search engine by this painful one ?

Moreover, when a new tab is opened, Ubuntu Start Page is loaded, even if
the start page has been replaced. Unbuntu Start Page has the same
problems than the search results, like in Jaunty. We don't need it,
Google's Homepage or Firefox Start Page (http://www.google.com/firefox)
are fine, nice and easy to use.

I desactivated Multisearch plugin to get rid of these problems.

[Bug 336001] Re: NetworkManager causes system freeze, lock up, kernel panic

2009-04-12 Thread dysmann
NetworkManager freezes my system while connecting to my network (not
secured, just one acces-point) via my USB wireless key which has a
Sis162u chipset managed by ndiswrapper.

Some lucky times it works, but it freezes 99% of the time;

I have to remove my USB key, reset and uninstalling network-manager.

[Bug 184820] Re: cannot mount NTFS partition as a normal user

2009-03-29 Thread dysmann
In Intrepid mounting NTFS partitions as a simple user is too dificult; it needs
editing /etc/fstab or so, and using the terminal. There should be a graphical
application for root to enable / disable mounting local partitions.
I think mounting local file systems as an user should be enabled by default,
and then root could disable it with a (G)UI tool; that should be easier for
everybody
