[Bug 682569] Re: HDMI Audio stops after logout
** Description changed: I am using an Ubuntu 10.10 hooked up to a TV set via HDMI. I am trying to get the Audio output via HDMI as well. Currently, out of the box Ubuntu discovers and sets up the HDMI audio output correctly and I have been able to get audio output. Once I logout and log back it stops working. The speakers do not reproduce audio, although PulseAudio reports everything is working fine. [Bug 682569] Re: HDMI Audio stops after logout
What mechanism does the permission assignment use? It doesn't use regualar unix permissions, right? Still, while I get sound or I don't get sound it seems that pulseaudio is accessing the device: sudo fuser -v /dev/dsp* /dev/snd/* /dev/seq* Specified filename /dev/dsp* does not exist. Specified filename /dev/seq* does not exist. USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: boxee 2553 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/pcmC0D3p: boxee 2553 F...m pulseaudio But I have seen something odd, using another account that I have in the box, when I do the previous, nothing comes out of it. Like if where accessing /dev/snd/controlC0, yet I still get sound on that account the first time I login after reboot. So, when using that account am I using pulseaudio or alsa to access the device. My guess would be pulseaudio, given all the configuration I had to go through in the sound preferences, but still. [Bug 228442] Re: KVM eats 100% CPU, Host Hardy64, Guest XP with more than 1 VCPU
I found a solution to the problem in Jaunty. To use SMP efficiently with Windows you need the ACPI Multiprocessor HAL profile. It seems you can only get it during the install if Windows detects that your HW fits that profile. The only solution I've found so far is to reinstall with ACPI enabled and make sure during install that the Multiprocessor HAL is selected. The problem, in my case, is that virt-install did not enable ACPI even though I had asked it to do so. -- KVM eats 100% CPU, Host Hardy64, Guest XP with more than 1 VCPU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

He reviewed the netback.c code in the latest stable Ubuntu 8.04 kernel that I pulled for him. This is what he said: This is what he said: Hmmm... It has the patches in that I suspected might be missing. I'm at a bit of a loss then. I guess I'll diff against our current netback.c and see if there's anything obvious different. Of course the error could be on the netfront side. :-( Probably it would be a good idea if the Ubuntu team initiated contact on the xen-dev list. -- networking stalls between domU using vif https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246789 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246789] Re: networking stalls between domU using vif
I haven't been able to solve this problem but at least mitigate it. Use the 'rate' directive in the configuration files for all the domUs, to limit the network rate. I also used Shorewall's QoS to limit the download traffic to a value lower than our maximum for the public interface for one of our domUs that acts as a firewall/router. Empirically I found that 5 Mbps is the value I needed to use in my system to avoid problems. To do this what I did is ping some resource, in our case any public server on the internet, that slows down when large traffic occurs. You will notice that as you start transferring the ping times get worse and worse. If it does, change the rate setting to lower value and test again. Do this until the ping times stay stable instead of slowly (Or even rapidly) increasing. This workaround it really unacceptable, since it limits severely the performance of the Virtual Servers, but in my case it is what I had to do in order to keep my production system working without hiccups. This is what you get for trying the bleeding edge, even though a higher level of reliability was promised because it is an LTS release. :-/ -- networking stalls between domU using vif https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246789 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 243066] [NEW] virt-manager does not load KVM extensions
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virt-manager Following the instructions in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KVM for Hardy do not give you a KVM aware virtual machine. The end result is a VM that runs extremely slow. While using the command line, and launching /usr/bin/kvm directly works, giving you a QEMU/KVM session. [Bug 106217] Re: hidden file controlling NVIDIA driver does not get removed when switching from nvidia-glx-new back to nvidia-glx causing X not to start due to mismatch of versions

[Bug 112438] Remote X11 keymaps are broken in Gnome
Public bug reported: After updating a fully functional (That is no problems to report) Ubuntu 6.10 to Ubuntu 7.04, I found that when I want to use X11 remotely from my Macbook Pro with Spanish keyboard (Using Apple's X11) the keymaps are broken, and it's impossible to type anything. This happens when using Xnest or using nxserve to access gnome. I beleive the problem is in gnome, because if I launch xterm or gedit from the remote ssh shell, they keyboard map is fine (Or at least workable, there is is still and issue with Alt-Gr and gedit). When I launch Xnest my keyboard works fine in order to enter my password and loging using XDMCP, but once in Gnome it stops working. I have been able to get something half-working. By doing 'xmodmap -pke map' on the shell and then 'xmodmap map' once in a Gnome session. As I said this was working well out of the box in 6.10, so I am assuming so change done in Feisty has broken this. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Remote X11 keymaps are broken in Gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112438 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
