+100^3. This is and the mouse-must-freeze-after-boot is certainly very
very very annoying.

Almost a year and this bug is smiling :(

[Bug 456699] Re: audio fails in totem when switching to next movie in playlist

2009-10-24 Thread gBug
Getting this same bug today brought me this way while trying to file
similar bug.

I got a workaround that might help the developers anyways.

Whenever I finish a new media file (song/video/flv etc.) I'll have to
QUIT Totem Movie Player, PLAY another media file (like inside Rhythm
Box), PAUSE or STOP the media inside the RhythmBox then relaunch Totem
Movie Player with the next media or launch a new file inside Totem.

This BUG and Workaround is highly repeatable!

IMO: it has to do with reinitialization of the file after use or not
getting handle to the sound driver or whatsoever. Which is done after
you launch other sound players.

I hope this helps.

[Bug 447181] Re: [xorg-edgers] Video driver error: No kernel modesetting driver detected

2009-10-12 Thread gBug
@ ghysmodos:
When you switched to the"2.6.3X-XX kernel" did you have issues with WiFi
(assuming you run this on a laptop/desktop with WLAN) ? When I switched to
2.6.31-13-generic, the screen resolution was fixed but I couldn't use my WiFi
again.

My issues are posted here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8091428&postcount=6.

Am I the only one with this issue???

I couldn't even get the 'Linux-headers" for the '2.6.31-13-generic' thus
I couldn't compile stuff.

Right now, I'm back to 2.6.28-15-generic which has it's WiFi working
fine, but screen is way too ugly.

[Bug 447181] Re: [xorg-edgers] Video driver error: No kernel modesetting driver detected

2009-10-12 Thread gBug
Okay "This is IT!" I've had enough trouble for a day!

I'm back to 2.6.28 kernel. I don't care about the graphix for now. As
long as DKMS works, WIFI works I'll manage this resolution.

2.6.31 kernel is too much of pains!!

I can't even get my virtualbox to work! I've spent about 7hours trying
to fix my issues...

WOW! It's too much for a SINGLE day's delay! :((

[Bug 448825] Re: No kernel modesetting driver detected. GDM loads Low-Res screen

2009-10-12 Thread gBug
Okay, I got this solved using the Jaunty Workaround.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting

However, that has landed me into a new fresh bug: My WLan is gone.

I'm working on trying to fix this
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8091193&postcount=45

Any help is appreciate.

[Bug 447181] Re: [xorg-edgers] Video driver error: No kernel modesetting driver detected

2009-10-11 Thread gBug
Thanks for this great solution. I stumbled on this solution after filing
another bug here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/448825

Now, my screen loads to normal and I have all my 'Extra' compiz effects
back. However, I may not close the bug until THIS NEW ISSUE of WLAN is
fixed. I guess the 'etc/modprobe.d/dkms.conf' in my own cause [according
to instructions in: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting/] is
affecting my wlan from loading... I'll try and look into this.

Just to confirm, the work around works, but I can only connect using LAN
for now.

[Bug 448825] [NEW] No kernel modesetting driver detected. GDM loads Low-Res screen

2009-10-11 Thread gBug
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I Updated my "xserver-xorg-video-intel" and its dependencies through the
normal Update Manager, my screen refused to load to normal resolution
and 'Normal' or 'Extra' effects were disabled after my GDM flagged
errors at the splash thus:

=
(EE) intel(0): No kernel modesetting driver detected.
(II) UnloadModule: "intel"
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

I tried 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-org' but it couldn't fix the GDM
resolution issue each time. Overwriting the old 'xorg.conf' with the
'backups/failsafe' didn't help too.

[Bug 363967] Re: [jaunty] Desktop effects could not be enabled

2009-06-02 Thread gBug
I guess mine is solved.

I commented the lines of Intel in "/usr/bin/compiz" as suggested by zoli4290,
and now I can activate my "Normal" and even "Extra" effects.
I also use

Intel's product: Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller
Linux SP34CE 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686

Intel Core Duo 2 @ 2.2GHz
Dell Studio 14
Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope

$ grep -i UXA /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(--) intel(0): Using UXA for acceleration
(II) UXA(0): Driver registered support for the following operations:

Hopefully it wont conflict with UXA... thanks once again!
