[Bug 429062] Re: Zynaddsubfx disconnects from rt-jack when changing instruments

2019-08-10 Thread hanzomon4
Thank you for responding. This is quite the blast from my past. I have
played with the the 18.04 package version and the latest git without
running into this issue again.

[Bug 1742842] Re: Wprefs will not open

2018-01-11 Thread hanzomon4
I'm stupid it's a path issue. The script is located in
/usr/lib/GNUstep/System/Applications/WPrefs.app/WPrefs.

A ln -sf to where wmaker looks for WPrefs resolved the issue.

[Bug 1742842] [NEW] Wprefs will not open

2018-01-11 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

* I'm running on the 64bit version of Ubuntu

Description:Ubuntu 17.10
Release:17.10

apt-cache policy wmaker-common
wmaker-common:
  Installed: 0.95.8-2
  Candidate: 0.95.8-2
  Version table:
 *** 0.95.8-2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/universe amd64 Packages
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Attempts to open the WPrefs from the gui fails with:

Could not execute command
"/usr/share/GNUstep/System/Applications/WPrefs.app/WPrefs"

If I try to open from the command line with openapp:

openapp /usr/share/lib/GNUstep/System/Applications/WPrefs.app
Could not find /usr/share/lib/GNUstep/System/Applications/WPrefs.app/WPrefs
executable/script

And ls -a:

ls -a /usr/share/lib/GNUstep/System/Applications/WPrefs.app/

. .. tiff WPrefs.tiff WPrefs.xpm

The WPrefs.app/Wprefs script appears to just be missing.

 Hi hanzomon4,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

 apport-collect -p linux 456979

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
  Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've
tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag.
This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag
located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the
'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

 Thanks in advance.

2010-03-27 Thread hanzomon4
The icon is easier to notice, but I'm still missing chats by about 8/10
mins. Also I still have no idea what the icon is indicating. An email? Chat
message?
If I receive an email and a text message the icon looks the same. Worse if
I'm setting at my computer and see that an email just came through and then
later receive a chat while I'm not looking at the screen I won't have any
idea that a chat message is also waiting for me.

[Bug 478026] [NEW] Bespin causes a black screen

2009-11-07 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-style-bespin

If I use the bespin I get a black screen(no wall paper, plasma panel,
widgets) upon my next login. At first I couldn't figure out the cause of
this so I made a new user, logged out and back in.. all was well so I
changed the style to bespin, logged out and back in to blackness. I used
the run command thing to start up system-settings and changed the theme
back to oxygen, logged out and back in... everything was fine.

So it has to be bespin

[Bug 449260] Re: empathy needs a persistent new message indicator

2009-10-27 Thread hanzomon4
Yeah, I think a better behavior for the indicator applet would be to
flash when a chat is received and do what it's doing now for indications
that don't require immediate attention like emails, gwibbers, etc
Because the problem isn't really I-A not being obvious enough, it's that
more then one thing sets it off and these various things set it off in
the same way.

So to summaries we should make different classes of alerts and assign
different indicator-applet actions in response to these different alert
classes... imo

[Bug 449260] Re: empathy needs a persistent new message indicator

2009-10-27 Thread hanzomon4
No it's not about the window not showing when you click on the alert in
the indicator applet, this is about not knowing that you have a chat
message available. I don't care if it blinks, but the behavior as it is
now causes chats to go unanswered.

Is there a more appropriate place for me to raise this issue?

[Bug 461392] [NEW] Compiz crashes when then system is left idle for to long

2009-10-26 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I've notice this happening since yesterday, if I just leave my computer
idle for a few hours I come back to a crashed compiz. I notice this time
that d-bus-damon was running at a constant 50% cpu and my system was
very sluggish even networking. I happened to have totem open this time
and when I attempted to play a video it said disconnected , not sure
what that means as the file was local.

Well... I haven't experienced a hardlock in quite a while.. The system
has froze for like a minute or 2 but then unlocks, that could have been
what I was experiencing in the first place only exaggerated. It's still
a problem though, the system should never be unavailable to the point of
nothing working.

[Bug 460714] [NEW] Mount errors during usplash

2009-10-25 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

This started occurring when the esc option was added to drop to a
recovery shell from usplash. Basically the error message says that
/dev/sda3 cannot be mounted at this time press esc to drop to recovery
console. That's not exactly it, I'll add it as soon as reboot, but
that's the gist of it. It repeats ovr and over again until the xsplash
comes up. The crazy thing is /dev/sda3, which is in my fstab, is mounted
when I login.

2009-10-21 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Whenever I tried to play a burned cd Rhythmbox locks up. If I restart it
it plays but if I pause it and then try to resume playback a few minutes
later it locks up again. One time this cause Rhythmbox's memory to
balloon out of control and lock up my desktop. It got up to using a
whole gb of ram.

This is the output from dmesg:

urgh... this sucks, I was wondering why some apps wouldn't work with
jack and why pulse couldn't talk to jack. This isa big problem for audio
production

[Bug 456484] [NEW] Aeolus dies after a few mins of use

2009-10-20 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: aeolus

Aeolus dies after a few mins of use, totally locking up all apps
connected to jack and causing a ton of xruns. Killing it is the only way

[Bug 456363] [NEW] Qsynth fails to connect to jack: zombified - calling shutdown handler

2009-10-20 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qsynth

This just started a few days ago... I start qjackctl then qsynth and get
this error message in the qsynth message window:

SSE2 detected
zombified - calling shutdown handler
fluidsynth: error: Help! Lost the connection to the JACK server
SSE2 detected
zombified - calling shutdown handler
fluidsynth: error: Help! Lost the connection to the JACK server

and this in a popup

Qsynth: Failed to create the audio driver (jack)
cannot continue without it

Sometimes it works but then I get a massive amount of xruns that
eventually cause everything to get kicked out of the jackd server.

I tried to run fluidsynth from the CLI, while qysynth was running, to
get more info and I got this error message:

[Bug 452866] [NEW] Applications becoming disconnected from pulseaudio

2009-10-16 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I've noticed some apps lose connection to pulseaudio... I've experienced
this with skype, flash apps/sites, and chromium b.s.u.(game). Usually it
happens when I leave the app in question idle and go back to it a few
hours later, I'll have no sound. It's kinda random, except with hulu
desktop. It finally happened to me, in front of my eyes, while I was
playing chromium b.s.u. I think I got the relevant potions of my syslog.

I'll try that, the reason why I think it's RT related is because this
doesn't happen with the regular kernels. That said my memory isn't
perfect and mot of my attention goes to the rt. I'll try your suggestion
and report back

2009-10-15 Thread hanzomon4
Yeah... Plus you're not sure, at a glance, if it's changed due to an
email or chat. Worse if you check the applet and have received an email
but don't actually check the email in evolution the applet stays shaded
in. So if you get a chat alert you'll just assume that the applet is
shaded in due to the email you didn't check.

[Bug 452772] [NEW] Rt kernels sometimes hang at boot

2009-10-15 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

The RT kernels sometimes hang at boot, this always happens with a newly
installed version and periodically afterwards. What happens is the
usplash comes up the dies down and the fan starts howling. The screen
gets stuck on black and only holding the power button will end it. The
screen is still on by the way, I'm talking about black as in off as the
backlight is still on.

Usually after trying 5 or 6 times it will boot, attempting to switch to
a tty also seems to help a bit.

[Bug 451169] [NEW] Performance really dropped with 2.6.31-8-rt

2009-10-14 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Performance has really taken a hit with the latest RT kernel... X-runs
are quite a bit more frequent and general performance of the desktop is
poor, it even hard locked on me forcing an ugly reboot. The general
performance of the stock kernel is fine however. I think this may have
something to do with the dynamic ticks feature being turned off. Only 3
things were changed according to the change log and only one is unique
to the rt kernel.

 [ Alessio Igor Bogani ]
  * Fix a package description error
  * Dynamic Ticks off by default

  [ Luke Yelavich ]
  * Update to Ubuntu mainline kernel v2.6.31-13.45.
  * Set CONFIG_X86_PAT=y as per mainline.

[Bug 451169] Re: Performance really dropped with 2.6.31-8-rt

2009-10-14 Thread hanzomon4
Ok I added the nohz=on option and ran hydrogen, qsynth, and rosegarden
all synced with ardour through jacktrans(via qjackctl). I recorded the
audio from hydrogen and qsynth into ardour(2 mono tracks). I also had
evolution, gwibber, empathy and skype running. I only experienced 3
xruns at 5.something latency. In short performance was great, no
slowdown in the UI... all butter

I attached the requested dmesg

Yeah something is wrong with the kernel that gets fixed when you
enable this option. Try booting without the nohz=on option and see if
you get even better performance. If that's the case then something is
wrong somewhere and mysteries are no good.

Could be.. I don't use wine really... but performance in my other apps
are fine now. Is it only wine or wine apps that seem crappy? If so
perhaps filing a bug against wine may be the best course of action.

By the way thanks to all of you for helping to work this out.

[Bug 451875] [NEW] Hard lock with the latest rt kernel

2009-10-14 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

I waited for it to happen twice before reporting it... but the latest rt
kernel is locking up on me. I had finished an audio session(jack,
ardour, hydrogen, qsynth, seq24) and recently ended a skype call.
Empathy, evolution, and chromium, and skype were all running when it
locked up. I rebooted and ran the ubuntu-bug linux rt thing. Let me know
if you need more info.

[Bug 449305] [NEW] No sound to and from bluetooth headset device

2009-10-12 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I connected my jawbone2 to Karmic via bluetooth and set it as my output
and input device in the volume-control applet. Talking produced nothing
in the vu meter and a test skype call resulted in no audio coming to the
ear piece. In short it didn't work.

[Bug 449260] [NEW] empathy needs a persistent new message indicator

2009-10-11 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

In adium when you receive a new message the dock icon constantly flashes
until you check the message. This is great for times when you may not be
looking at your computer or step out of the room.. etc. With Empathy you
get one popup bubble and the indicator-applet becomes colored in with
gray. The indicator applet really doesn't grab your attention as it
changes color for many reasons(gwibber, email). This means that unless
your looking at the screen or have empathy visible you will miss the new
message. This is fine for email but not for IMs.

So I'm requesting that empathy gets some kind of persistent new message
option, that will draw my attention even if empathy is nowhere on my
screen, while not being annoying(like something that steals focus).
Since gnome doesn't use a Dock and repeating or never ending
notification bubbles would be messy, perhaps having the indicator applet
repeatedly flash a loud color when new chat messages are received would
be a good option. I don't know that's just a suggestion, the main point
is that this problem needs to be worked out.

[Bug 447682] [NEW] Spellcheck does not work properly

2009-10-09 Thread hanzomon4
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany

In Epiphany 2.28.0 if you enable the spell checker misspelled words show
up with a red underline. In all other apps right clicking on the word
shows suggestions, but not with epiphany. With epiphany you have to
first highlight the word; even worse, picking one of the suggested words
causes the word you were attempting to spellcheck to be erased and not
replaced with the suggested word you selected.

That's right, I'm saying that spell check in epiphany operates as a
delete button and that's it. This is very easy to recreate just misspell
a word, enable spell checking in the right click menu, click show
spelling and grammer(this too is a bug because you only have to do it
once and the spell check should be enabled by ticking the enable spell
check box), misspell word, highlight it, right click it, and select
suggested word.
