[Bug 557150] Re: sshfs mounts read-only filesystems
That seems to be just a bug in gedit. If the backup option is checked (create a backup copy of files before saving), everything works properly. If that option is not selected, then you can save your modified file just once. Successive saving will cause the error. [Bug 557150] [NEW] sshfs mounts read-only filesystems
Public bug reported: In previous versions, I was able to mount remote filesystems via sshfs with read and write permissions. In Ubuntu 10.04 remote filesystems mounted via sshfs are accessible in read-only mode. I am unable to write to the remote mounts. May be this has been reported as a Nautilus problem (see bug #548754), but it is not just nautilus, but the whole system is affected by the bug. [Bug 548754] Re: sshfs mounts cannot be written
I have just this problem, but I want to add some information: It is not a Nautilus problem, but a sshfs problem. If I try to make any modification on the remote filesystem, that is not possible, even from the console. Nautilus is just suffering the same problem as the rest of applications. I do not agree with the Low level assigned as importance level. In our company, we usually work on remote filesystems mounted by means of sshfs. We have just updated some computers from 8.04 to 10.04 and these are now useless for that kind of tasks. In my opinion, such kind of bug must be resolved before the final 10.04 version is out. [Bug 195221] Re: Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection
I also upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 alfa 5 I can confirm that the bug has been solved, just as Paulo commented before. Unfortunately, the SSD of this computer (Eee PC 701, 512MB + 4GB SSD) does not seem to improve on UDMA66 mode: $ sudo hdparm -t /dev/sda1 /dev/sda1: Timing buffered disk reads: 66 MB in 3.02 seconds = 21.83 MB/sec -- Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 182489] Re: Atheros wireless (AR5007) not working on various laptops, including the ASUS Eee PC
Also tested Intrepid alfa 5 on Eee PC 701, 512MB / 4GB Wireless still does not work out of the box, but with a minimal change it does. Just blacklist the ath_pci module and reboot. Wireless will be working with no problem. To blacklist the module: $ sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist Then, add this line to the file: blacklist ath_pci -- Atheros wireless (AR5007) not working on various laptops, including the ASUS Eee PC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182489 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 195221] Re: Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection
I am using a modified kernel: http://www.array.org/ubuntu/features.html Which includes the 40-wire UDMA patch. I do not know if this same patch is going to be included in the official kernel, but it seems to work flawlessly. Anyway, the speed improvement (Eee PC 701, 4GB) is much less than what I expected. -- Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 110636] Re: hdparm - cannot set dma on IDE hard drive that works via pata
I am doing tests on several machines with Ubuntu 8.04 and I am experiencing a similar problem. I have opened a new bug (#195221), since I think both bugs are related, but I do not think that the problem is the same of this one. I am working with a SSD, identical to a high speed (300x) compactflash card. The device supports up to UDMA66, but I only achieve UDMA33, so I am limited to work at 50% of the device speed. Recent versions of kernels support new parameters in the libata module. So far, I have tested with libata.dma=4 [http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt] (supported by the libata module that I am using), but with no success. In fact, I already have dma support, but not the desired mode (udma66). Currently, my only hope is just to wait until the new set of libata parameters is available in the next kernel releases, just to set the needed values libata.force=80c,udma4. This new parameter is already documented in kernel-parameters, but still not available in the latest Ubuntu kernel. Anyone here has been able to use CF cards or SSD drives at UDMA66 or higher modes? -- hdparm - cannot set dma on IDE hard drive that works via pata https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110636 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 195221] [NEW] Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection
Public bug reported: I have an Asus Eee PC 4GB laptop, and I am testing Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 (kernel 2.6.24-8) on it. The computer has a 4GB SSD soldered to the motherboard. The disk is reported as UDMA66 capable, but is installed as UDMA33 because the system does not detect a 80 pin conductor. I have tried adding kernel parameters (ide0=ata66 ide1=ata66) but these seems to be ignored. I have read that these parameters are just to instruct the kernel not to do the 40/80 wire test. I have written a blog entry [http://ospatia.blogspot.com/2008/02/eee-pc- optimizar-el-disco-ssd.html] (in Spanish) with additional information (dmesg output, some tests with hdparm, ...) and I have found additioal people having same problem with fast (300x) Compact Flash cards. dmesg output extract: [ 26.700245] ata2.00: ATA-4: SILICONMOTION SM223AC, , max UDMA/66 [ 26.700256] ata2.00: 7815024 sectors, multi 0: LBA [ 26.700297] ata2.00: limited to UDMA/33 due to 40-wire cable [ 26.716208] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
