[Bug 1400470] Re: cannot download photos using shotwell via usb

2014-12-13 Thread kenden
Confirmed, this happens with my phone (Nexus 5) on Ubuntu 14.04 / Mint
17.1. Shotwell 0.18.0

Workaround, from:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+question/157569

Shotwell is supposed to popup a dialog asking you to unmount, however there
are cases where this doesn't work.
You may have to unmount the camera in Nautilus before starting Shotwell.

Unmounting in Nautilus before starting Shotwell works for me.

[Bug 1028532] Re: ecryptfs-recover-private mounts in /tmp but does not decrypt

2013-12-03 Thread kenden
After the prompt:
Enter your MOUNT passphrase:
I can type anything I want, and I will always get
INFO: Success! Private data mounted read-only

So it is correct that the data be not decrypted. What is incorrect is the
message Success!
It should be an error incorrect passphrase instead.

[Bug 775862] Re: Installing nvidia-current and still no Unity (driver didn't load, even on reboot)

I don't think the bug is invalid, I am getting the issue (no Unity) on a

Jockey-gtk shows that nvidia-current is installed but not in use.
I did not install proprietary drivers, so I wonder why it is installed.

[Bug 746210] Re: We can't minimize maximized window when it can't be activated

2011-05-13 Thread kenden
Aside from the Synaptic use case where the window cannot be activated, there's
the more general issue that:
no close/minimize/restore buttons are displayed on not-active windows that are
fullscreen.

So it takes an extra click to activate a window in order to use its buttons.
That's a regression.
Should the buttons be displayed at all times to fix this?

[Bug 538853] Re: panel transparency broken with light theme

2010-04-20 Thread kenden
From a user point of view, selecting transparent panel and not getting a
transparent panel is a bug, not a wishlist.
If this works as designed, then the design is should be fixed.

Either the theme shouldn't use its own background picture
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = panel_bg.png
or that background should be transparent
or the transparency option should disappear when using this theme, as it
doesn't work.

The bug's importance sould be low, at least.

Thank you for taking the time to submit this bug report.

the one used in the version versions. You can also try to other new theme,

- In gnome-terminal, go to Edit Profiles and select a default theme.

[Bug 539299] [NEW] Nautilus List View displays pink background if the folder is empty

[Bug 445245] Re: apport can't send to kerneloops.org

I got this problem with Ubuntu 10.04 alpha 4 (32bits)

[Bug 311319] Re: [intrepid] tuxguitar needs the package timidity to have sound working

2009-01-31 Thread kenden
I think the point of this bug is that by default, the sound of tuxguitar is not
working.
That forces the users to look in google or forums looking for no sound in
tuxguitar to get it to work, that is not user friendly.
True story: a friend has been using tuxguitar with no sound for months, he
thought it was a bug in the program.
I wonder how many people tried it, saw it didn't work, and uninstalled it.

The sound should be working by default. For platforms with no sound...
users would not expect sound then! An error message could be displayed
in this case anyway...

The best approach IMHO is to install tuixguitar-jsa automatically along with
tuxguitar, and display a message to the user saying he/she could get better
sound quality by installing timidity and configuring it in the preferences.
Maybe timidity should not be installed by default, as it is a deamon that would
be running all the time.

Or, if nothing else, at least display a message on the first start up
explaining what to do to get sound.

You can install the package timidity or the package TuxGuitar-JSA to get the

TuxGuitar-JSA is a plugin for tuxguitar, so it seems more logical to use, but
the quality is much better with timidity.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 218624 ***

Since the problem happened both with g/klipper, I am setting this bug as
a duplicate.

Just for the record since you probably don't need it anymore, for big projects,
the memory available to Eclipse can be adjusted using the arguments:
eclipse -vmargs -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
Or changing them in the eclipse.ini file:
-vmargs
-Xms512m
-Xmx1024m
-XX:MaxPermSize=512m

Then this can be checked in:
Help About in Configuration Details

That should solve the Eclipse Out Of Memory issues!

[Bug 249569] Re: PulseAudio crashes using Firefox and Rhythmbox

2008-07-17 Thread kenden
I cannot reproduce the issue (Ubuntu 8.04)

Particular setting: I have the package libflashsupport installed. This might be
related.
If you install this package, do you still have the issue?

[Bug 201225] Re: Wifi working but at 1Mb/s

2008-07-15 Thread kenden
On a Dell D400 with Ubuntu 8.04 (kernel 2.6.24-19-generic) and
Broadcom Corporation BCM4309 802.11a/b/g [14e4:4324] (rev 03)

iwconfig also gives me:
Bit Rate=1 Mb/s

But doing the test http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ gives me 5486 kbps.
I have 6mbps in theory, so this is fine, much more than 1 Mb/s.
For me 1 Mb/s seems to be just a wrong indication, not the actual transfert
rate.

I cannot reproduce this on Hardy beta, with compiz on or off.
Do you still have the problem (you mentioned you were on Feisty. Have you tried
on Gutsy/Hardy)?
Can you supply a backtrace for this issue?

[Bug 215745] [NEW] Shift+Ctrl keys do not work inside a VMware image via Synergy

2008-04-11 Thread kenden
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synergy

Synergy server 1.3.1 on Windows XP (where the keyboard and mouse are)
Synergyc client 1.3.1-2ubuntu2 on Ubuntu Hardy beta (kernel 2.6.24-15-generic)
VMware Server and server console 1.0.5 build-80187 install on the Ubuntu machine

When controlling the Ubuntu machine with the keyboard and mouse of the Windows
machine via Synaptic, all works fine.
But when controlling a vmware image inside the Ubuntu machine, the Shift and
Ctrl keys of the keyboard do not work. And when Caps lock is on, no other key
is working.

When accessing the vmware image with the keyboard connected directly to
the Ubuntu machine, it works fine.

The workaround, in this forum, is to use win2vnc and x11vnc instead of Synaptic:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=539546

This is also reported in the vmware forum:
http://communities.vmware.com/thread/110726

And there are two bugs those this on the Synaptic bugtracker on Sourceforge.
[1545361] VMware hack does not alway work
and:
[ 1101403 ] Strange keyboard behavior inside a vmware guest

I am linking this bug against upstream 1545361 because it has a patch

The same problem happened after upgrading Feisty to kernel2.6.20-16.
The solution was to install linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16-generic.
The bug should be about checking that a proprietary driver is present, and if
so install the restricted modules.

[Bug 84348] Re: X wont start after upgrade to -11 kernel

2007-02-18 Thread kenden
Same problem here (Edgy Eft Amd64).
It happened because I have the nvidia proprietary drivers installed (this is
why proprietary drivers are bad:))

To solve the problem, do the following:

After your PC runs into the blue X problem screen, press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go to
the console in text mode.
In the console, login, then type:
sudo apt-get installlinux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-11-generic
Reboot.

Or, if you don't like to use the console and type commands do the
following:

When the PC start you have the choice to boot:
Ubunt, kernel 2.6.17-11-generic
Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
Choose kernel 2.6.17-10-generic, the PC will start normally.
Log in and start Synaptic (System Administration Synaptic Package Manager)
Search nvidia
You will find:
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-generic, that is installed
and
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-11-generic that is not installed

Mark linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-11-generic for installation and press
Apply.
Reboot.

It seems this update should have been installed at the same time than the
kernel 2.6.17-11.1 update, but wasn't.
