[Bug 1939895] Re: The application menu flickers in wayland

2021-10-20 Thread Milos Ivanovic
The same happens on the same machine on Fedora 34, as well. The menus
started to flicker and disappear around the release of Firefox 90 on
both systems.

[Bug 1939927] [NEW] network unreachable for ppa.launchpad.net

2021-08-13 Thread milos
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I'm one of the developers on the Bitbucket pipelines where we provide CICD in
the cloud for our customers. Recently we started seeing reports that
connections to ubuntu.com and ppa.launchpad.net fail with 'network

sometimes and then it breaks again. There is no mention of incident on your
side AFAIK. Is there specificly something you are doing to block our traffic?

[Bug 1933245] Re: mlx5_core: Error cqe on cqn leads to hang

2021-06-24 Thread Milos Vyletel
As expected 5.11 did crash. Unfortunately the vmcore is not useful as it
filled up disk space so it is incomplete and I had to remove it to free
up some space.

[Bug 1933245] Re: mlx5_core: Error cqe on cqn leads to hang

2021-06-23 Thread Milos Vyletel
Thanks for looking into this. I will try edge HWE. I did try it week or
two ago but it was still at 5.8. I will need to let the 5.11 kernel run
for couple of days to be sure that it is properly fixed.

Btw the same problem also exists on 5.4 kernel line. I do not have vmcore from
that kernel version as it was not setup back then and afterwards I have tried
hwe kernel to see if it was fixed.
What I am trying to say is that I get that it is not straightforward backport
but we still should think about fixing as it affects LTS release.

[Bug 1933245] [NEW] mlx5_core: Error cqe on cqn leads to hang

2021-06-22 Thread Milos Vyletel
Public bug reported:

This bug seems to be same as this one
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-oem-5.6/+bug/1887723

Same workaround - iommu=pt - seems to prevent the hang on our new
server. It is running for 5 days now without issues. Before it
crashed/hanged within a day.

[Bug 1904470] Re: Monitor fails to wake after lock when dash-to-panel is loaded

2020-11-21 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Installed the OS from scratch. Worked fine until i installed gnome
tweaks. As soon as i installed it (didnt even change any settings with
it) the issue came back.

No extensions were installed what so ever.

2020-11-19 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Don't want to spam but i tested another scenario. Logging out and
letting the screen go to sleep then waking up works without any issues.
Logging in and locking and the screen wont wake up as described
previously.

[Bug 1904470] Re: Monitor fails to wake after lock when dash-to-panel is loaded

2020-11-19 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Just some additional info not sure how relevant it is.. and this is
something that has been happening from the start i just forgot to
mention it.. /facepalm

The screen does start to wake up, it blinks like its going to show the
image on the screen and HDMI in the corner shows up but the screen is
black. The screen then turns off and turns on again same thing and does
this loop a third time before it turns off completely. If i try to wake
the machine again it will do the same 3 stage loop and turn off.
Unpluging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in resolves the issue
until the next lock.

Also tested the same with 60Hz and on Windows 10 with 100Hz just to make
sure its not an issue with the monitor or HDMI cable itself but i cant
replicate the issue on 60Hz (Ubuntu) or 100Hz (Windows 10).

[Bug 1904470] Re: Monitor fails to wake after lock when dash-to-panel is loaded

2020-11-19 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Hi Daniel,

This is weird.. the issue went away when dash to panel was disabled for
a whole day but today it came back. I tried disabling all extensions one
by one, reloging after each and i got to the point where all extensions
and the whole extensions section is disabled, relog, issue is still
present.

At the moment i have no extensions enabled and the whole extensions
section disabled in gnome tweaks and the issue persists.

The only time the issue went away during this whole testing process is
when i disabled the screenshot tool extension i then enabled dash to
panel and the issue came back. I disabled dash to panel and the issue is
still here. I then disabled everything and the issue is not going away.

I did log out/in when i disabled everything but i did not reboot the
machine.. I was thinking maybe you want me to provide some information
before i reboot in case it goes away after.

Let me know what i can do to provide you with any further details.

[Bug 1904470] Re: 100Hz monitor fails to wake after lock

2020-11-18 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Hi Daniel,

You were correct! It was in fact dash to panel that was causing the
issue. Disabled all extensions and log out/in, lock the machine -> wakes
up without issue. Enable dash to panel, relog, lock -> cant wake up.

Thanks for the assist and sorry for wasting your time. You can close
this bug.

apport information

** Description changed:

  When using Ubuntu (both 20.04.1 LTS and 20.10) with ZFS the "History of
  Ubuntu" entry is missing from GRUB.

  This may be caused by having multiple OS's on the machine.

  GRUB shows:

  Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS - boots ubuntu
  Advanced options for Ubuntu 20.04.1 - Kernel selection
  Windows boot manager - boots windows
  UEFI firmware configuration - BIOS

  Windows and Ubuntu are on two different SSD's.

  When set to 100Hz the monitor will work without issues until the machine
  is locked. When i want to unlock it the scrren does not wake up. The
  only way to wake up the screen is to unplug the HDMI cable from the GPU
  and plug it in again.

[Bug 1904545] [NEW] ZFS rollback does not do anything

2020-11-17 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS as well as Ubuntu 20.10 rolling back a zfs
snapshot does nothing.

Tested rolling back autozsys as well as a manual snapshot. The rollback
command does not return any error but does not rollback a snapshot.

May be related to Bug #1904469 as a secondary symptom of the same issue
but then again maybe not.

[Bug 1904469] [NEW] History of Ubuntu missing from grub

2020-11-16 Thread Milos Marjanovic
Public bug reported:

When using Ubuntu (both 20.04.1 LTS and 20.10) with ZFS the "History of
Ubuntu" entry is missing from GRUB.

This may be caused by having multiple OS's on the machine.

GRUB shows:

Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS - boots ubuntu
Advanced options for Ubuntu 20.04.1 - Kernel selection
Windows boot manager - boots windows
UEFI firmware configuration - BIOS

Windows and Ubuntu are on two different SSD's.

2018-08-05 Thread Milos Ilic
I was able to install ubuntu on ASUS x541uj, with option install alongside
Windows boot manager (it was not convenient, because I had to do repartition of
my drives before installation to setup only one partition, and do partition
again afterwards, linux home folder and root folder was on same partition.)
Anyways, I was able to boot in linux, and Windows separately, but I had
experienced lags, errors, and freezes in linux, so I concluded that there is
incompatibility on hardware level, and I uninstalled linux. But boot of grub
was left in my EFI boot drive, so I did manually deleted it, but my PC still
recognise linux somewhere... There are screenshots in attachments of some
errors that I experienced.

Problem persists with kernel 4.4.0-62. Looks like the only hope left is
to wait for 16.04.2 point release (currently pushed out to Feb 9) and
see how things go with (HWE) kernel 4.8. Did anyone give it a chance
earlier by trying out hwe-16.04-edge kernel package?

[Bug 1614266] Re: Freeimage library does not write EXR files

2016-11-18 Thread Milos Hasan
Yes, it appears to be the same bug. It's the FIF_EXR constant that's
wrong.

A temporary workaround is to do this:

FREE_IMAGE_FORMAT exrFormat = FreeImage_GetFIFFromFilename("dummy.exr");

Then using exrFormat in place of FIF_EXR make the problem disappear.

[Bug 1614266] Re: Freeimage library does not write EXR files

2016-11-04 Thread Milos Hasan
Hi Ghis,

sure, the patch is below, but note: this only patches the build of
FreeImage 3.17.0 *from source*.

The original bug I reported above is that the *packaged* version
FreeImage cannot write EXRs. That bug still exists and I have no idea
how to fix it. For now our team has to resort to building FreeImage from
source.

The patch should be applied to this source package:

sha1:
6752c83798c2f81dee71a2e8bb11657068672669  FreeImage3170.zip

Thanks,

[Bug 1614266] Re: Freeimage library does not write EXR files

2016-08-30 Thread Milos Hasan
Hi Ghis,

yes, we confirmed that it works correctly with FreeImage 3.17.0 built
from source. So the bug is specific to Ubuntu 16.04 packaging.

(Note, the source did not build out of the box, there was some trivial
bug with raw string delimiters that we had to manually patch.)

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Milos

[Bug 1614266] [NEW] Freeimage library does not write EXR files

2016-08-17 Thread Milos Hasan
Public bug reported:

Writing an EXR file through Freeimage (3.17.0+ds1-2) on Xubuntu 16.04
results in a file with zero bytes, while a corresponding HDR file is
written correctly. On 14.04 both images are written correctly. Here is a
minimal example writing both formats and reproducing the problem:

// compile with g++ -lfreeimage test.cpp
#include
#include

struct Rgb
{
float r, g, b;
Rgb() {}
Rgb(float x, float y, float z): r(x), g(y), b(z) {}
};

int main()
{
const int n = 512;
Rgb img[n * n];

for (int i = 0; i < n; i++)
for (int j = 0; j < n; j++)
img[i*n + j] = Rgb((float) i / n, (float) j / n, 0.0f);

FIBITMAP* pBitmap;
pBitmap = FreeImage_AllocateT(FIT_RGBF, n, n);

unsigned int nPitch = FreeImage_GetPitch(pBitmap);
BYTE *pBits = reinterpret_cast(FreeImage_GetBits(pBitmap));

float *buf = reinterpret_cast(img);
unsigned int i = 0;
for (int y = 0; y < n; ++y)
{
float *pPixel = reinterpret_cast(pBits);
for (int x = 0; x < n; ++x)
{
pPixel[0] = buf[i++];
pPixel[1] = buf[i++];
pPixel[2] = buf[i++];
pPixel += 3;
}
pBits += nPitch;
}

if (!FreeImage_Save(FIF_EXR, pBitmap, "test.exr", EXR_DEFAULT))
std::cout << "EXR error\n";
if (!FreeImage_Save(FIF_HDR, pBitmap, "test.hdr")) std::cout << "HDR
error\n";
FreeImage_Unload(pBitmap);
return 0;
}

I'm not sure if this is a apt or do-release-upgrade bug, but one one of these

[Bug 1422469] [NEW] Dolphin won't keep the folder shortcuts on Kubuntu 15.04 with Plasma 5.

2015-02-16 Thread Hans Milos Toquica Cáceres
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Dolphin.
2. Select the folder you want in the Places shortcut on the left panel.
3. Drag and Drop the folder on the left panel in the Places section.
4. Restart the system.

What Happens:
Dolphin is set back to default places.

What is expected:
Dolphin displays the customize places shortcuts.

I tried askubuntu, but they deleted my question as off-topic because
Kubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet with Plasma 5 haven't been released.

Aditional info is that this is not an upgrade, but a fresh install.

[Bug 1422467] [NEW] Wrong language displayed in the Digital Clock Widget Kubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet with Plasma 5

2015-02-16 Thread Hans Milos Toquica Cáceres
Public bug reported:

I installed the system completely in English. Selected local timezone
(colombian) and continued the installation. All the system i appears to
be in English but the date and time appears in spanish.

Also, I am unable to select a 24 hours time format. The only way to do
this is, apparently, by selecting the United Kingdom Time Format which
now displays the date in English (this actually solves the whole
situation for me). So question (more report than question) is, what if I
want to display, let's say, my date in other language (or in english)
but having a custom time format (maybe like this: 19:59, or like this
1959, or like this: 19:59:59, or 7:59:59 P.M. or 7:59 P.M.).

I tried askubuntu, but they deleted my question as off-topic because

[Bug 1422471] [NEW] Customized Global Shortcut for Activate Application Launcher Widget won't be permanent.

2015-02-16 Thread Hans Milos Toquica Cáceres
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Global Keyboard Shortcuts.
2. Select the plasmashell KDE Component.
3. Customize Activate Application Launcher Widget keyboard shortcut (Apply
the settings).
4. Restart the system.

What Happens:
Customized setting is reset to default.

What is expected:
Able to pull up the Application Launcher with the customized Global Shortcut.

Temporary workaround:
Right click the Application Launcher Icon and select Application Launcher
Settings... from the context menu, customize the keyboard shortcut.

I tried askubuntu, but they deleted my question as off-topic because
Kubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet with Plasma 5 haven't been released.

Aditional info is that this is not an upgrade, but a fresh install.

[Bug 1295026] [NEW] Brasero hangs after burning an ISO file (started from Nautilus)

2014-03-20 Thread Milos Sramek
Public bug reported:

Hi,

If I burn a DVD iso file by starting the process from Nautilus (right
click - Open with - brasero), the brasero process remains hanging in the
memory after burning the file. The DVD is burned corerctly. As the
consequence, I cannot open brasero again - I have to kill the brasero
process manually. If brasero is started from dash, it finishes normally.

System: Ubuntu 13.10, 64 bit
brasero: 3.8.0-1ubuntu3

I've observed the same in Mint Mate 16.

When hanging, strace -p shows:

[Bug 1176349] Re: Right click move to another workspace doesn't work

2013-05-07 Thread Milos Trickovic
I'm using 13.04 upgraded from 12.10.
After a week of use I also run sudo apt-get upgrade which downloaded around
230Mb of updated software.
I'm also running that command with sudo apt-get update every day from then.

I have also set up my enviroment to have three workplaces in a row:
[workplace 1][workplace 2][workplace 3]
and I switch between them by pressing ctrl+alt+right arrow, or left arrow.

Example of issue:

1: Open terminal ctrl+alt+t
2: While on terminal screen press: ctrl+alt+3
Terminal screen should be in lower right section of screen.
3: Right click on terminal title bar
4: Move to another workplace
5: Workplace 2 or Workplace 3

Terminal screen doesn't go away to selected workplace. Insted it stays,
like it's position is locked.

However, moving of terminal window to another workplace works fine after
I manually pull the terminal window away from lower right position set
by pressing ctrl+alt+3.

[Bug 1176349] [NEW] Right click move to another workspace doesn't work

2013-05-04 Thread Milos Trickovic
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu (Unity) 13.04:

After using automatic resize of window e.g. ctrl+alt+3
When right clicking on a title bar of that window and selecting Move to
another workspace  Workspace [number]
it doesn't work. I expected this command to work in any way.
But when given window is manually resized or restored using ctrl+alt+5, given
right click move to another workspace works.

This is rather non-natural, and it should be allowed for all windows,
regardless of what way they are (re)sized to be allowed to move using
right clicking and selecting mentioned command.

[Bug 1127872] Re: Audio stops working, requesting rewind due to end of underrun

2013-02-20 Thread Milos Cubrilo
I think my problem is the same. Started today after system updates.
Running 13.04 and when it boots up to desktop, the first sound I start
works. So Rhytmbox, VLC, or Ytube in Chromium, whichever I start first,
works, and there is sound. Then when I stop it, next thing I play wont
produce the sound and I must reboot to take efect. Rhytmbox wont play
songs, VLC and Ytube play video without audio. In Volume control in the
panel play/pause ff i bw buttons changed colours to gray from the
beggining. It even plays JB, VLC and YT for the first time all three of
them work, but if I stop playback and then start anything new, the same
problem. Tried to remove 1.0.3 package and reinstall amd64 same package,
no results.

  Installed: 1:3.0-0ubuntu2

This is it. Actually when I run audio the first time, as long as I crossplay
it, vlc over rhytmbox, and than turn off vlc and then for example ytube over
vlc and so on it plays. When I stop it and start new it wont play. Youtube
playlists play video after video without disconnecting sound. Anything more
that I can add or log somehow to help? Asus k73ta laptop with amd a4.

[Bug 1127872] Re: Audio stops working, requesting rewind due to end of underrun

2013-02-20 Thread Milos Cubrilo
Ok, sorry, turns out it is not pulse, al least it seems so. Rhytmbox and
Ytube work all right, it's when I open VLC it plays one video with
sound, and then next one, or anything other in the system wont play
sound at all. Tried to uninstall vlc pulse plug in but after restart
played only two videos with sound, then again the same, I see it
reinstalled the plugin by itself. Will try to remove VLC and reinstall.
This is probably already another topic, sorry for mislead.

2013-01-07 Thread Milos Dinic
Guys, just one note: for any productization[1] changes, you'll need to
ask for review from either me or Axel, and make sure not to push any
changes upstream before you get an r+.

Anyhow, post-commit r+ on removing Chambers.
