Same issue here. Ubuntu 20.04 fully updated running on a Dell Latitude
5590. Started after VPN connection over wifi. It works ok sometime and
then VPN and network stopped working in this case. Changing to cabled
connection just in case meanwhile the issue gets solved.

Pasting repeated log just in case (few lines):

[Bug 1844739] Re: Latest Firefox update freezing my system

2019-11-11 Thread paz
Thank you for looking at it @seb 128,
as I mentioned above, I initiated the oom when my browser and the system are
completely freezing.
It is happening only when using Firefox (last 2 versions). it feels like a
process within the browser
just go wild suddenly and cousin the freeze.

There is a major improvement in the last update but still going on
randomly.

2019-11-07 Thread paz
Yes, freeze from time to time and the all system freezing with it.
alt+f+prinscreen (oom killer) or hard reboot are the only options to go back
from it.
My suspect is multi processes by default but I'm just guessing.

2019-11-02 Thread paz
Hello @Oliver Tilloy(osomon), The good news are that I can at least use the
browser most of the time but not all the time... I'm adding log messages. I
initiated oom to kill the processes instead of hard booting. I hope it will
help you to see what's happening.
Thank you,
Paz

[Bug 1844739] Re: Latest Firefox update freezing my system

2019-10-24 Thread paz
I did all those things before I even desperately called for help.
safe mode, refresh, new profile and so on.
the only change in safe mode was faster start-up. and then the freeze again.
Now I did downgrade as you suggested - was much better then I updateD again (
update-manager was nagging me -:) ) .
Today the 70th version came up and so far for few hours I have my beloved
Firefox and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
back to normal.
Hopefully ...Is it OK to wait few days more before closing it, to be sure all
is really well?

Thanks a lot,
Paz

Thanks for looking at it.
Maybe the log messages can give you a clue?
This one is current. A lot of Firefox, Gecko references in there.

[Bug 1844739] Re: Latest Firefox update freezing my system

2019-10-09 Thread paz
@Oliver Tilloy (osomon): What I mean when I say "renders my machine
useless" - the system is freezing. I have to hard boot it after a short
time with only the home page of Firefox open. as long as I'm not
starting Firefox - the system is working without any issues at all. for
your question about updating, Yes I did.Unfortunately it didn't change
the situation for me.

I already tried the usual stuff - refreshed the browser, created a new profile
but didn't help.
This is my first time ever I face such a strange unsolvable issue in Firefox.I
have Ubuntu 16.04 (dual boot} And now I just forced to use it on a daily basis
. if it was an hardware issue that could surface in the other system as well I
believe.
Thanks for looking at it.

[Bug 1725315] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in g_hash_table_lookup_node()

This only happens on gnome-shell on wayland mode. It is evolution
indicator plugin. Unfortunately, even clicking on the checkbox to
disable it (on the list of evolution plugins) crashes evolution.

@dino99, Thanks for the reply but as I know Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is not reaching
eof just yet(April 2021). and I thought we are talking about a specific bug
here that not resolved for me.
Doing the obvious cleaning/reconfiguring did not yield any healing as well.

How do I clean/reconfigure my system. Any explanation would be very much

2016-01-24 Thread Paz
Hi All

We had the same issue, but in our end it was misconfiguration of the key.
Make sure that the key you see in trace log is indeed the key you have in
/etc/ceph/ceph.client.cinder.keying, if not try to fix in
/etc/libvirt/secrets/, and reload with virsh secret define.
If it configured OK, make sure that it also configured on ceph cluster (ceph
auth list).

[Bug 1363798] Re: Evolution-EWS 3.12 causes Evolution to hang Utopic

2014-09-29 Thread José Dapena Paz
I've just run the issue using gdb, and I found the problem is that
libcamelews.so and libmodule-ews-configuration.so both define the Camel
EWS types. See the attached debugging session for an example of double
declaration of camel_ews_store_get_type.

[Bug 1254581] Re: USB stops working after a while

2013-12-16 Thread Paz Bom
Since someone mentioned USB3 hard drives, this is some info I can add.
I am having USB related problems with a USB-3 RAID hard drive in 12.04.3 LTS -
kenel 3.5.0-32-generic.

I have a USB external hard drive and all was fine until a few month's
ago when I started getting USB disconnect a few minutes after plugging
the device or rebooting the system (Ex: usb 1-7: USB disconnect, device
number 18).

From my investigation so far the problem seems to have started 31 October 2013
and now I believe since a specific update:
Start-Date: 2013-10-30 23:33:59
Commandline: aptdaemon role='role-commit-packages' sender=':1.21820'
Upgrade: upower:i386 (0.9.15-3git1, 0.9.15-3git1ubuntu0.1), libdecoration0:i386

0.9.15-3git1ubuntu0.1), fire
fox-globalmenu:i386 (24.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1,

[Bug 755029] Re: [sandybridge-m-gt2+] Screen Corruption

2011-07-16 Thread José Dapena Paz
I got hte same issue with the official natty drivers. But even also with
xorg-edgers ppa.

Current packages here:
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.15.0+git20110714.212fa986-0ubuntu0sarvatt~natty
linux-image-3.0.0-5

I'm using gnome-shell, but happens also on unity and metacity (non
accelerated). The behavior degrades with time, but restarting desktop
removes most of corruptions with exception of some images that may be
cached and get corrupted.

With a specific xorg-edgers ppa version:
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.15.0+git20110605.bdb396a4-0ubuntu0sarvatt~natty
and adding this configuration in xorg.conf:

Section Device
Identifier Intel gpu
Driver intel
Option Shadow true
Option RelaxedFencing false
EndSection

I got almost stable behavior even with gnome-shell. Corruption would
happend far later, if any. But in recent packages even this
configuration doesn't help (and the old package got removed from my apt
cache, so I lost my stable configuration).

Re: [Bug 499175] Re: ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration failed

2010-01-03 Thread paz now
Hi, nice to meet you.
I will try loading the modules.

I have had a reduction in error messages by blacklisting ath5k and
ath9k, and then loading
the ath5k module after the desktop installs, using modprobe.
After loading the module I get between 2 and 5 or so, error messages but
that's it.
[versus the multitude, or continuous]
When I included ath5k in /etc/modules following the blacklisting I got
less error messages, but not as few as the delayed loading.
Ath9k doesnt seem to help, and the network transfer rates, however,
I load it, are very slow.
Similar results, by the way, using the debian 30-2 kernel, except 3x
messages whatever I did.

Leann Ogasawara -

I am very pleased to report - on the first time I loaded the backport
kernel [2.6.31-16-generic-pae] and the modules that I have gotten no
error messages -
ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration failed (2452MHz)
listed on dmesg tail.

-thanks.

2nd report re: [Bug 499175] Re: ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration failed

2010-01-03 Thread paz now
LO -

With and without the pea kernel, using the backport modules, I got
slower transfer rate speeds, as
reported by software during downloads, and notification of kernel errors
on the desktop - which I didnt
forward using the bug report software. These kernel 'crash' errors
occurred when booting with either
karmic kernel.

If your not needing any more information, I think I will remove the
backport modules and cope with
the alternate module loading for a while.

[Bug 435808] Re: ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration *failed* (not *timeout*)

2009-12-31 Thread paz now
I think I fixed the problem of the repeating message that appears in dmesg tail
-
ath5k noise floor calibration failed on my system.
I am using kernel 2.6.31-16-generic.

I blacklisted ath5k and ath9k then listed ath5k in
/etc/modules.

hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How
to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 325690] Re: udev has wrong name for devmapper devices, cryptsetup initramfs hook fails

2009-02-22 Thread José Dapena Paz
Very similar issue here with udev 138. I can confirm also that going
back to 137-2 fixes the problem. My system hangs on bootup, and never
manages to mount the root.

[Bug 305198] [NEW] After a long use of Pidgin all my gtk applicatios crash

2008-12-04 Thread Manuel Paz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I am using Ubuntu 8.04, I have Pidgin 1:2.4.1ubuntu2.2, when I use
Pidgin whith some Yahoo! contacts for a long period of time and I try to
run another gtk application it does not work or if some applications are
running they crash. I do not know why this is happening because when I
chat using Emesene it does not happen.

[Bug 139832] Re: [gutsy] rt61 wireless stops working after several minutes

2007-10-18 Thread José Dapena Paz
Still crashing in 2.6.22-14. It's a little bit better, as I can reload
the driver now (it lead to a hang). If I rmmod the driver and modprobe
it again, I get connection working again.

[Bug 139832] Re: [gutsy] rt61 wireless stops working after several minutes

2007-10-03 Thread José Dapena Paz
Same problem here. After hte mentioned crash with write_tx_data, there's
no new activity in wifi card. I cannot receive any new package, and I
need to reboot to recover. If I try to rmmod the driver once this
happens, rmmod hangs.

[Bug 63299] Re: rebuild apt with noopt option fails

2006-10-30 Thread José Dapena Paz
I removed the pragma lines and it works.

Anyway, if we read from Gcc doc here:
http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/C_002b_002b-Interface.html

We can know this:
`#pragma implementation' and `#pragma interface' also have an effect on
function inlining.

If you define a class in a header file marked with `#pragma interface',
the effect on an inline function defined in that class is similar to an
explicit extern declaration—the compiler emits no code at all to define
an independent version of the function. Its definition is used only for
inlining with its callers.

-O0 removes the semantics of inline, then it may be it's not generating
any implementation :m.

[Bug 67935] Interface lo does not wake up in edgy

2006-10-24 Thread José Dapena Paz
Public bug reported:

When I start up edgy, localhost network interface is not enabled. If I do:
# ifconfig

The interface lo is not there (if I check all interfaces it's there
anyway). It seems there's a problem related to the fact that network
interfaces are enabled before mounting the machine partitions. As I've
got the /var in another partition, it's not mounted yet.

Also, if I try the bootchart I cannot get any log, for the same reason
(/var is not yet available).
