[Bug 2064192] Re: Unable to resize windows
HI I tested this also as I was not having the issues described at the time. Working with lotuspsychje I set my login to 'Autologin' rebooted and then I had the resize bug. Applications affected don't support CLD and some are Electron apps. Gimp, Hexchat, Spotify, Discord, Teams One thing I noticed was when these apps were behaving correctly, they had a slight drop shadow around them. On reboot and autologin enabled that drop shadow was do longer there and I could not resize the windows. Is this also related to the Compositor? Maybe something is not starting when Autologin is enabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064192 Title: Unable to resize windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2064192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1919955] Re: weird graphics artifacts in Firefox on Xorg after upgrade
Hi Olivier below is the the log for the 17th - 18th of March. Just to note: 1. This machine has an old graphics card RV710 Radeon HD 4550 so there could be issues there. 2. I just down loaded Firefox Nightly from their site and ran it. it runs fine with out any graphics issues. So the issue maybe a combo of my old graphics card and Firefox 86.0? Firefox current: 86.0 Firefox Nightly 89.0a1 Firefox 87 is just released so should be updated shortly in Ubuntu we could wait to see if that fixes the issue? [Bug 1798011] Re: HDD thrashing. System locks all input devices. Hard boot required to regain control.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1767299 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767299 Thrashing and system lockup are possible to achieve with Firefox on a default Ubuntu install with much more memory than this. E.g. mine has 16G. This might not be argued to be a bug with the upstream Firefox since it is expected behaviour, however according to #1767299 there is a conscious choice to make Ubuntu swap defaults different from the standard Linux recommendations. That means that the Ubuntu Firefox package needs to be able to handle memory exhaustion gracefully. That means that this bug is valid and _is_ annoying for beginning users and so, if there's a choice to limit the default swap size then this should be fixed. There might need to be a local different patch to Firefox memory handling. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798011 Title: HDD thrashing. [Bug 1846560] [NEW] 18.04.3LTS server install fails to detect SATA or NVME drives
Public bug reported: Trying to install the ubuntu-18.04.3-live-server-amd64.iso on a Dell Precision 3630 workstation and can't make the installer see either disk, not the nvme/PICe SSD or the SATA. I'm booting using UEFI as these Dells can boot using legacy/BIOS boot for external media for purposes of installation but are not capable of booting an OS from any internal device. I've confirmed this by booting in BIOS mode, can install and tell grub-install to boot from /dev/nvme0n1, but on reboot no OS is found. Tried loading nvme options as per https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln299303/loading-ubuntu- on-systems-using-pcie-m2-drives?lang=en with no change. With or without the nvme_load=YES option, if I alt-F2 to the console at the point where the installer says "Unfortunately probing for devices to install to failed..." I can run fdisk -l and see both drives. I can also mount, format and write/read data on both disks. This suggests the kernel/OS are seeing the disks but the installer is failing to detect them. The error message also suggests logging a bug here and including the contents of /var/log/installer (attached). Any guidance is appreciated. This has been working fine in the past. I can still create a task in Gnome-todo and it will show in Google tasks This is happening on my Desktop and Laptop. I've removed and re-added my google account to Gnome but no change. I've attached an error message I was getting with Gnome-todo earlier but I'm not getting this error now. The Calendar application and Notifications still seem working properly with my Google account. I tried to file a bug report with ubuntu-bug, it gathers the information and I click the send button but nothing happens so adding manually here. I just updated Ubuntu and logged back into the unity desktop (i've been using Unity 2D because of this bug) but now when logging back into Ubuntu desktop my Icons show up in he launcher which is great but now I have noticed that the Launcher wont dodge windows anymore and open windows hide underneath the launcher also the ALT F2 wont start the run dialog ether. [Bug 762478] Re: No icons shown in unity launcher
I have this problem as well, I reinstalled Ubuntu from the beta 1 CD and and the Icons in the Launcher were showing but after updating to Beta 2 the problem came back I lost all the Icons in the Launcher. As a kind of workaround I installed Unity 2d which looks and acts much like the 3d version, everything works fine in Unity 2d I think it would be a good idea if Unity 2d was installed along with the main install of Ubuntu so if issues arise with the 3d version you could drop back to Unity 2d which is far better than the Gnome 2x desktop at leased with Unity 2d you can still get the look and feel of the new desktop Ubuntu is promoting -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762478 Title: No icons shown in unity launcher -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
